I see M16A2, I Push Like! Can't wait for the build! Love the 80's vibe!

Thanks! Everyone calls them "Retros"! I bought my first Colt HBAR in 1989 while still active duty. They just don't seem "Retro" to me! Lol!

This is why I really enjoy your video builds. Thanks for showing us what you really get from these manufacturers for the money they charge. I would expect top notch quality too.

Thanks Allen! Should have the lower around Wednesday so I'll get some close ups between the COTS M16A2 and M16A2 versions.

That upper looks like it is a Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises casting, but H&R doesn’t look like they machined everything they could have as you pointed out… probably to save time/money.

Mike from Nodak Spud commented on my Colt HBAR Clone build that they decided to do it that way to keep costs down. He said it was very time consuming and mostly a manual process. When I saw it on the first receiver I wasn't sure how I felt about it but now it doesn't bother me at all.

Glad I have an original Colt. Colt doesn't grind the seams flat. So those rough seams are correct for an A2 receiver

Don't remember what the military got but my old civilian version Colt A2 HBAR lower sear block from 1990 came with the casting flash smoothed out flush except on the inner carry handle. When I was part of shipboard security on the USS Tripoli LPH10 during the Gulf War we still had M-14's and 1911's. I did a comparison of the new H&R and my old HBAR during the Colt HBAR build series videos I recently did. I know the A1 H&R's that were produced for Vietnam had the casting flashing.

BK Firearms has a2 uppers without that flashing and they're cheaper than H&R! I just wish I had waited a little longer before buying a gray assembled one with rifle feed ramps for my barrel with a m4 extension.

I have recently run across a few BK videos! You can get A2 H&R's with or without the M4 cuts in black but I don't think they offer the M4 cuts with the gray versions. Maybe they are offering them now but two weeks ago the gray was rifle only. Although not A2 correct I prefer to have the M4 cuts. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Remember folks if you have a rifle cut barrel with an m4 receiver all it takes is a dremel and a few bits to correct. It’s metal, and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to correct.

I've seen some videos where that's been done. My only concern would be that the anodizing would be removed? How much that would actually matter I don't know?

I’ve used a small round file and only enough to contour it. It definitely helps with M855 length ammo, military ammo not really an issue but civilian and reload big time.

...can you buy an H&R A2 - or A1 - lower from PSA???

    • @peteregger7928

Go to PSA. Click on "Brands". Click on "H&R". Yes they have a good selection of both A2's and A1's.
