Das sind mal Vergleiche, mit denen man etwas anfangen kann. Nur soviel Worte wie nötig, und ansonsten: "Let the amplifier do the talking". Dazu ein guter Gitarrist, und direkte Soundvergleiche, SUPER. (P.s.: Würde mich sehr über einen Vergleich mit dem Engl Steve Morse freuen.)
Evh 5150 is my boy . I own the current version and it's a super versatile amp. In the past I have owned the Engl Retrotube. The amp was a little darker on V30 speakers. I also owned the Marshall JVM 410H. But this amp wasn't modern enough for me. In the current comparison series, I like the EVH and the Engl Retrotube best. Love your content . Keep it up buddy 🎉
Yeah, the EVH is a magical amp. They could have just made it with an on button and no other controls because it always sounds great. It is a challenge to make the amp sound bad. It's almost too easy. Thanks again, buddy! I'm still figuring out your old Invader to line it up too. It is super versatile but I feel like I have not found its sweet spot just yet
Oh,warum schreibe ich hier eigentlich in englisch?😅🤣Erstmal Grüße aus Schleswig-Holstein🤘 Zum Video:Das sind zwei sehr geile Amps,die durchaus ähnlich klingen können.Ich mag die etwas puristischeren Engl-Amps(Retro,Blackmore,Artist Edition,Fireball,Ironball),sowieso.Oft ist weniger mehr.Die Ausnahme ist da für mich der Savage,ich hatte den alten Savage 60 mal gespielt-ein geiles Teil.Mittlerweile spiele ich den Artist Edition 100 und liebe diese Kiste einfach❤️Peavey und EVH habe ich auch lange gespielt,ebenso wie Marshall und Mesa Boogie,wobei ich mit Mesa Boogie später nur noch in Kombi mit Sans-Amp PSA1.1,Eq,und booster im Input zufrieden war,was nicht Sinn und Zweck sein kann.Irgendwann bin ich dann auf ENGL gekommen.Ich finde der Fireball kann ebenfalls sehr in Richtung 5150 klingen,hat auch dieses Paevey/EVH markante „mitten nöck“und klingt für ein Mitglied der Ballfamilie immer noch schön offen und dynamisch.Ich glaube der könnte für ein Vergleichsvideo auch sehr interessant sein🤘🙂
Danke! Wenn mir mal ein Fireball zu einem guten Kurs begegnet, werde ich sicher Schwierigkeiten haben zu widerstehen. Ganz Deiner Meinung. Der Savage ist der Hit. Der einzige Amp für mich, der noch mehr Spaß macht ist der Diezel Herbert. Für eine Weile hatte ich auch zwei Ironballs, aber bei denen fehlte mir immer irgendwas, was ich nicht so richtig benennen kann.
Ich mag die beide. Viel wichtiger empfinde ich für mich, was für ein Feedback und Spielgefühl vermittelt mir ein amp! Im high Gain und Mix, klingt alles durch die selbe Box Sehr ähnlich 😅 Eigentlich braucht man viele Boxen anstatt vieler amps, oder doch beides? 😂 Klasse Video, mach weiter so!
Awesome - thanks for continuing the series :) (especially in this pace!!) These are my favourite tones of this series so far! It might not make sense but I'm curious what those 2 amps together would sound like (I'm thinking of the Engl's darker sound combined with the EVH's more pronounced presence). I also found it very curious that in this comparison the amps had the most consistent character (in comparison to the other one) - almost like "parallel tones" - only (/mostly) separated by the different midrange focuses. Congrats on the next milestone (what's the one after "nice!" ? ;) ) Cheers!
The consistent characters thing didn't really occur to me until you wrote it but yeah, I think you are absolutely right and I might have to blend them on a recording to find out how that sounds. Now I am curious too! And thanks again! The next milestone? Good question. To be quite honest, I didn't really see it even going this far but I am enjoying so I'll just keep going. The Retro Tube videos kinda have a template to them. I don't have to set up lights and camera and hook up a dozen things, so I just have to not procrastinate and move the next amp on top. What really helped boost my confidence was the response to the videos. Especially the first Retro Tube video blew everything else I had done so far out of the water. So it's becoming more gratifying and less terrifying with every video. Let's see where it goes or when I run out of stuff to test. Cheers!

I thin i actually like the engl more than evh ( i own the same 5150 ||| )...but the gain its like tight enough and sound a little bit better, the cleans won evh. But gain...definitely im gonna buy this engl with one cabinet 4x12 vintage 30.

I’d pick the EVH . I have a Stealth . Great amp . Hangs with Hermansson and Wizard
EVH seemed to be a bit more crunchy and clear but the engl had a bit more lower bottom mids. I prefer the EVH slightly
