Honestly it's not my type, it's a little over the top for me. When you first showed the pedal I immediately thought of the Ibanez pentatone pedal for some reason, which I have and actually really like. If I was going for something like this I would go for the Northern Mauler from Revv. I have an original Boss HM2 Japan version I use every so often, but use several other drive pedals and stack a few . Great video as always, Cheers!

My new go to IR is a mix of your LCFR and V30 IRs (with slight phase correction) - I love it! Btw did some more IR experimental mixes off your free IR stuff and did get some really great results. LCFR with Redback does sound cool too. Thanks again.

John, what an amazing review of the CSX! Truly one of the best videos about my switchers, you did an outstanding job, thank you so much for your hard work. I like the Swamp Thing, has a nice warm balanced sound. The V30s always had that (Bee hive) sound too me , never been crazy about it. I have the DV-77 speaker in my Marshall JCM800 4010 combo and absolutely love it. Both of those Eminence speakers seem to have more clarity and a solid thick tone, to me the V30s have always sounded a little thin, maybe it's the 5-6K frequency I'm hearing. Great content you always put out!

Trying to make my own IR, I failed, there was this horrible ground... A test take was saved by Ctrl + z, the speaker was a Celestion Rocket 50! It sounded nice with a Rockville RCM03 mic. You should try that combination man, is an interesting speaker cuz is low budget, less popular and seems it got a bad reputation or something, yet it doesn't sound bad in my opinion, I do prefer it over a V30 (I don't remember which year, I saw your video months ago lol) and for a bright amp like the EVH it may balance things out. In my case, the position of the mic was Cap edge. No fizz. I did try some of the free IR you shared man, I did enjoy the sweet spot on this one. Is kinda cool I didn't need to cut like crazy, just a HP & LP. I believe the Tornado with the EVH could sound interesting with a R121 or a darker mic. Swamp Thang + 57 is a nice combination. Better to experiment it that believing what other says. ...So, Rocket 50 test next 😂 Btw I did a video with the results. F25 isn't bad but for high gain tones there isn't enough complexity and impact on the low end. Kind of a lack of "thumpiness" I think. On it's own at least.

I’ve never heard an eminence speaker under any amount of gain that didn’t sound like someone plugged into a bass cab and said “no one will notice”. They are just so stiff. Regardless of eq response, the texture never does it for me.

I've got a ST paired with a Fane F70 in my Orange PPC 2X12. Incredible sounding pairing FWIW.

Interesting! I visualized the frequency graph before seeing it. That's how influenced I am by your videos, by now.😂 I don't see this speaker as a metal speaker in particular. To me the crunch settings with the Strat sounded more pleasing. Also, it is the speaker i like least to be paired with the V30, so far. But, other might have a different opinion.🤗

Great content, but at 19:10 your picture-in-picture is kind of covering part of the frequency graph, amusingly the only part of the graph where I'm hearing the most differences so I was really trying to see it. Ofc there's later graphs together with audio at the very end of the video which kind of makes up for it but editing for you may want to look out for that kinda thing in the future

Great recorded tone from this. It has plenty of treble and the 5-6k roll-off is nice. Hope to see the strat in more videos too. I am primarily a high gain guy but recently picked up a strat because I can't get over how much I love the neck pickup sound. It definitely has me playing different things and stepping out of the usual death and thrash

I swapped the V30s in one of my Mesa Standard 412s and installed a combination of Swamp Thangs and DV77s in an X-pattern wired in 16-ohm mono and that is one of my favorite cabs. However, it sounds best to me when paired with my Herbert. Great video and demo either way man 🤘🏼
