I'm a huge Dio fan and still I don't get why everyone in the comments is complaining about Doogie not singing it "as good as" Dio. He sings the song perfectly according to me! Of course he has a different voice than Dio (duh!) but his voice fits as good as Dio's. Both are great singers obviously. There doesn't always have to be "a best" singer or version of a song...
I am sorry but it's not even remotely close..Yes, his skills are great, but he doesn't have such a charismatic voice as Dio had. I can't even listen :(
@@marat2005 That was my point. It doesn't have to be close. It is not an attempt to imitate Dio but simply another rendition. If you're used to the Dio version and expect anyone trying to sing the song the exact same way as he did, you're always going to be disappointed, no matter how good the performance of the singer might be.
We all love Ronnie and always will, that said, Dougie is the only other Rainbow vocalist that is British through and through which showed us the huge dedication to his craft. No one can ever replace Ronnie, we know that, but the band moved on and we gave to cherish the years Ronnie put in and be thankful for all the recordings we have to enjoy with those Dio vocals. Dougie deserves a place in the Rainbow hall of fame, unlike Bonnet, Turner and the latest puppet who just does as he's told.
All Rainbows singers has been great in their own way (except the latest, even though he was decent), for the more commercial oriented Rainbow, Turner and Bonnet was more suitable than both Ronnie and Doogie. Almost all Rainbow songs has aged like fine wine, they are timeless and that is a testamente to all the great musicians that has been involved with Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow. Ritchie has always had a great sense of what people should be in the band for the particular music he feels like creating for the moment. Exception being the latest Rainbow lineup that should have been a reunion as they only performed old hits.
Bonnet это самое худшее , что было в Rainbow. Turner средний певец , да и Deep Purple он не был уже на высоте, да и сама группа ничего больше не создала , похожее на 70года
I've lost track of this song in my mind for the past 10 years , I was walking down the streets of Sabah and a busker was playing this tune , and within a split second I recalled the name , and here I am now , it's amazing how music can give such a lasting impact to the soul and mind , love it 👍
This is the most beautiful version of this song since Ronnie. Doogie does this one just right with warmth and lots of soul; Ritchie is surely proud of his and Ronnie's song. RIP big guy we'll join you soon enough!
Richie absolutely had it going on here. Saw him in Deep Purple many times in the 70’s. He has matured so much at this point. He doesn’t succumb to the temptation to play too much and he didn’t here. As for Doogie vs Dio I look at it like this. I absolutely love the “whine” of a Ferrari engine that is set up perfectly. But that does not prevent me from equally enjoying the “rumble” of a 400ci 65 GTO or of a Dodge SRT Hellcat. No reason to do otherwise.
Ritchie was on fire that night, his playing is exceptional (even by his standards) in every song from that 1995 concert in Dusseldorf. This song included.
One day in the year of the fox Came a time remembered well When the strong young man of the rising sun Heard the tolling of the great black bell One day in the year of the fox When the bell began to ring Meant the time had come for one to go To the temple of the king There in the middle of the circle he stands Searching, seeking With just one touch of his trembling hand The answer will be found Daylight waits while the old man sings "Heaven, help me" And then like the rush of a thousand wings It shines upon the one And the day had just begun One day in the year of the fox Came a time remembered well When the strong young man of the rising sun Heard the tolling of the great black bell One day in the year of the fox When the bell began to sing It meant the time had come for the one to go To the temple of the king There in the middle of the people he stands Seeing, feeling With just a wave of a strong right hand he's gone To the temple of the king Far from the circle at the edge of the world He's hoping, wondering Thinking back from the stories he's heard Of what he's gonna see There in middle of the circle it lies Heaven, help me Then all could see by the shine in his eyes The answer had been found Back with the people in the circle he stands Giving, feeling With just one touch of a strong right hand, they know Of the temple and the king Terjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia
Послушай как скорпионс исполнили эту песню. Мне кажется получше. И почему-то мне кажется что ещё лучше она бы звучала если бы её исполнил преждний состав Deep Purple.
Ritchie and the band were in top form on this tour for Stranger in us all, and it's a real shame they only did one album with this band. Doogie White does and outstanding job on this song, as well as all the new songs on this album. They do a killer version of Still I'm sad on this album too. For me, this album is Rainbows best since Rainbow Rising, and although this song is not on that album, it shows just how great this version of Rainbow was. Ritchie's playing on this album is his finest since Made in Japan....and that's saying A LOT!
I was there that evening. Serving in the British forces Germany. What a concert, didn't know it was being recorded for tv until we got in the venue. Rockpalast aired it on tv a few days later so got to see it again. What a show, Ritchie was on form, not always the case! But I have to say Dougie White worked his ass off that night. His vocals where jaw dropping!!!..He worked the crowd and not a bad note all night. He also was trying to give Ritchie the room to shine. Not easy when he is so temperamental and improvise's so much in the moment. Epic night!!

Forever young

2023 now
One day in the year of the fox
Came a time remembered well
When the strong young man of the rising sun
Heard the tolling of the great black bell
One day in the year of the fox
When the bell began to ring
Meant the time had come for one to go
To the temple of the king
There in the middle of the circle he stands
Searching, seeking
With just one touch of his trembling hand
The answer will be found
Daylight waits while the old man sings
"Heaven, help me"
And then like the rush of a thousand wings
It shines upon the one
And the day had just begun
One day in the year of the fox
Came a time remembered well
When the strong young man of the rising sun
Heard the tolling of the great black bell
One day in the year of the fox
When the bell began to sing
It meant the time had come for the one to go
To the temple of the king
There in the middle of the people he stands
Seeing, feeling
With just a wave of a strong right hand he's gone
To the temple of the king
Far from the circle at the edge of the world
He's hoping, wondering
Thinking back from the stories he's heard
Of what he's gonna see
There in middle of the circle it lies
Heaven, help me
Then all could see by the shine in his eyes
The answer had been found
Back with the people in the circle he stands
Giving, feeling
With just one touch of a strong right hand, they know
Of the temple and the king
