Best review on UA-cam! Thanks! Mine is coming on it’s way!
Thanks man, appreciate you watching 👍
You really use the DigiTech FreqOut in a masterful way. I aspire to use effects so they are hardly noticeable. You do that very, very well Paul.
Ah, thanks man, I appreciate that 🙏
Great player.
Thank you Giacomo 👍. Appreciated
Awesome playing...and yes, tone is definitely in the fingers (at least in yours!).
I don't think it will be long before pedal manufactures are throwing pedals at you (if they have any sense LOL)
because you make them sound amazing with expressive tasteful playing.
Ah, thank you for kind words BTCharlie 👍
Awesome as always Paul! Brilliant playing! I know you say the LP is your #1 but that Tele pulls something out of you!
Ha ha, yes I was playing that Tele this morning (with your SS Overdrive), it just sings. Cheers Jeff. Now head back to your workshop and create more magic pedals and guitars for the world to enjoy 😎
Paul your tone and playing is to die for!!!!!! And I love your guitarfaces😊
Thank you Stratblooz 👍. Delighted to see you’re still watching my vids (and my funny faces) 🤣. Cheers
Oh man, how that Les Paul growls and sings, just beautiful! But of course we all know that it's you, Paul. Take care and stay safe. You certainly make my lockdown days brighter. Cheers!
Thanks Guitar Dev! Appreciate you watching 👍
You sound awesome as usual. This pedal is a great tool and It is always on my board.
Thank you Ivan, you’ll notice I gave you a wee shout out. You were right about the pedal order. Cheers man, I’m very happy with this pedal 😀🎸😎
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Of course I did. I felt famous. Haha. Thank you, you didn't have to. If you're going to stay at home amid this craziness, record more for us. Be safe.
This is exactly what I need. As you know, I have a Blues Junior which is a very good clean amp. Distortion is a huge challenge and feedback is next to impossible. This is a brilliant solution and will make the neighbours a lot lot happier. Tanfastic playing, as Jinda used to say until she learnt the proper pronunciation. Great to hear and watch you play. You and your family stay safe.
Hi Rocksteady! Yes, it’s a great pedal, and it’s a challenge not to over use it 🤣. So yes, perhaps your Blues Junior, a good drive pedal and the Digitech Freqout could be the perfect low volume solution. I bet Jinda would approve of your bluesy yet quiet tones! Cheers, and I hope you and yours are safe and being careful until this crazy virus burns itself out. 🙏
@@paulstaffordcook8799 This could be the roller coaster of the century- given the economic fall out on the cards. 'Interesting times' they call it - more like the start of a zombie film ...
I love your solo on Europa, lot of soul 👍
Thank you Gilles ! I try.... but when I hear Carlos do his own version.... 🙏. Man, he just has that “thing” that is just SO unique. But thank you for hearing some soul in my attempt. I certainly love playing that song. Cheers Gilles
Very nice playing, great sound
Thank you Jeff! Delighted you liked my playing 👍
Hittin the Note! I think your strat loves that pedal. Great tone.
Thank you James! 🙏🤘
Wow, the jam was beautiful 😭
Thank you man, delighted you enjoyed it. Appreciated. 👍
As always great playing Paul, thanks.
Thanks Andy, cheers 👍
Wonderful mate! Your Jeff Beck is wonderful I miss his finger vibrato it seems he's only using the trembar these days.
Thanks Stratblooz, delighted you like my Jeff Beck 😀👍
Gaun yersel Carlos.....magic performance Paul.....I like that pedal very much.
Thanks David! Yeah, you gotta love a bit of Carlos 🤣
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Got this pedal yesterday....going to try it out shortly. :-)
WoW that was some Awesome tones.
Thank you Mr Pamplemousse! Delighted you liked my vid 🙏
Great playing...as usual.
Thank you funkyjones 😎👍
I had a Freqout, but it didn't work out on my setup. Maybe because I tried it with the tube amps.. sounded great here.
Thanks MaG 👍. That’s a shame that your Freqout didn’t work out....
I really love that you still keep pushing for the Boss Katana ❤️🤟🏻🎸! And of course your amazing playing makes a great deal to 😂. I would soooo love to hear how you tackle John Mayer tones using your strat and the Katana. Would really love to hear your input on that topic! Cheers Paul ❤️
Hello Jesper! Not heard much from you on your channel lately, hope you’re well. Maybe you’re just enjoying that “honey beast” from your last vid 🤣. Anyway, yes, I still play my Katana regularly, despite having the valve amps. I find the Katana definitely has its own thing, I love it. As regards John Mayer.... It’s funny I’ve never really got into him.... I know the rest of the world goes crazy for him... What I DO like, is his funky stuff, and his talent is extremely evident..... That stuff he does on “Neon” is amazing! And his cover of Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads” is right up my street! And yet, I know if I tried to get his Strat tone, I’d probably not do it justice as my heart just wouldn’t be in it.... I feel the same about David Gilmour..... The world loves him, but it’s not my kinda thing. Strange, but true. Cheers 👍🤘
Paul Stafford Cook I totally get you! You should definetly listen to the song Magnolia on the tribute album to JJ Cale that was put together by Eric Clapton! He does an amazing job on that piece! I am trying to put on some new material for the channel so hang on! Stuff is on it’s way ❤️🤟🏻🎸
Another great video, Paul. Amazing playing and amazing tones you squeeze out of that Katana. After much experimentation, I think too that the best tones come from using the clean channel with a overdrive or tube screamer type pedal. Maybe next you’ll be experimenting with the internal overdrive or blues drive or tube screamer pedals built into the amp with the Librarian app for your phone or tone studio. All parameters of each pedal can be adjusted as well. Always a pleasure and stay safe.
Cheers Mike! Yes, who knows, one day you might see a video “Paul Cook finally tries Tone Studio”. I bet that would get a good number of views 🤣.
Man the tribute to Beck was amazing! Fantastic touch and tone! You need to do “The Captain Meets”...
Thank you electricj5! 👍. It’s funny you mention “The Captain Meets”.... That’s my personal ambition to get on that show! 🤣
I finally got the rubs together to treat myself to a Freqout pedal, thanks to King Charles 😊
I got a Coronation gig with the band I'm in and I got paid 200 rubs... so I went online and pre-ordered a Freqout.
Just gotta wait for it to arrive now.
Nice playing Paul, some lovely tones being squeezed out of them there guitars!
Thank you SONGSTICKS. I hope you enjoy your Freqout pedal. It’s like an instrument in itself, so you can practice “playing” it, and riding that fine line between artificial synth-y sounds and more authentic valve feedback and howl 😊
That was all done on the 1/2 watt setting? Wow. That was amazing, thanks!
Thank you Rick, glad you liked my wee vid. Yes, I rarely stray from the half watt setting..... Cheers for watching.
@@paulstaffordcook8799 I think it's all the more remarkable because usually, to get a good tone you have to have the speaker moving air. A speaker rated for 100 watts has to be efficient at that level and is usually too stiff to be of much use at really low levels.
Somehow, they've compensated for the lack of being able to make the speaker do the work necessary to get proper tone. Very cool.
you are a very soulful player
Thank you gimmeagig😊👍. Appreciated
That "Dry" switch is a weird feature, but I find that if I use it with a very quick onset setting, I can simulate very odd "synth-like" tones, very much like old analog Moog synths. By far, this is the one pedal that lives on my pedal board, and I also use it in front of my Line 6 POD Go. Oh, and I really love your playing. Really captures that Gary Moore "feel" that he had. Great technique, but with heart.
Thank you so much Dave for your compliment. Appreciated 👍
Nice playing
Thank you Frank! Cheers
What in the hell is that sustain, it's incredible
Hi Club Penguin. Yes, that sustain is all down to the Freqout. It’s great, and it does that at any volume 😀. Cheers for watching my vid 👍
Bloody fantastic
Thank you baron von chickenpants 🤘
I'm thinking this pedal may be a wise investment for me.
Gotta say, I LOVE that pedal. 99% of my playing is house volume, so the Freqout is perfect! It takes a while to learn to “play” it.... but with the right settings it can sound quite realistic. Cheers for watching 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 🍻
Can you post your katana set up ? Ty !! Great vid
Thank you Bruno, glad you liked my vid 👍. At the very end of the vid I put a picture of my Katana settings. So hopefully that will help. On a more general note, I usually don’t use pedals when I’m using my Katana.... and so I get everything I want from the Clean channel with the Gain quite high. I sometimes add the Booster dial... And occasionally I’ll use the Crunch channel. Hope that helps.
Feedback at low Settings.... I think I need one of these. Now ! Incredible !!
Yeah, it’s amazing isn’t it. And depending on the type of feedback you go for, you can make it sound more like sustain rather than feedback. So that big moment in Europa, I think I was on “Natural Low”. I can see this staying on my board forever. The challenge will be trying not to over use it 🤣
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Where on the board would you place it ? Before the Overdrives or after like Delay and Reverb ?
I was advised to place it BEFORE the overdrives. I’ve tried it both ways and I do think I prefer it that way. So I’m going guitar into freqout into my OD pedals, then my ambient effects then looper then amp. Hope that helps 👍
Ok this will stay forever on my board. Cause the only thing , you can't have on low Volumes , is Feedback. But in Live Shows I always played with my controlled Feedback. My Pedal is after the Overdrives cause I was too lazy to rebuild the whole Board ;-)) I like it there ... Thanks for this great Tipp !! Love it !!
Cheers from Spain, Paul! I haven't found yet THE overdrive pedal for the clean channel of my Katana. The Soul Food gets close, but still, I keep looking for...
Hi Jose! Yes, the search for the right OD pedal.... it’s a fun journey, and hopefully you’ll have seen lots of episodes of “That Pedal Show”, with Dan and Mick 🤣. So far I’ve settled down with a core of about 4 or 5 that give me nice but different flavours. But I’m putting the brakes on my search or else I’ll be forever hunting. Cheers for watching my wee vid 😀👍
My two faves at the moment are the Earthquaker Plumes and Boss Blues Driver.
Caline Pure Sky is great , very transparent , and apparently a clone of a Timmy .
Fantastic video :)
Thank you Fred! Appreciated 👍
Волшебство!!! С 8 минуты.
Thank you 🙏
That A you bent up to screamed Gary Moore!
Thank you Glen! Yes, Gary Moore’s influence is firmly rooted in my soul 🤣
I use the crunch channel with the gain set around 1oclock. I use the "green" (blues driver) overdrive for home practice. Onstage I use my pedalboard which is just drive pedals. Fulltone fat-boost, fulltone OCD, Ibanez turbo tube screamer, and TC electronic spark boost. They all work together with the katana crunch channel perfectly. Just like a amp with valves in it in fact...👍😁....who needs valves
Sounds like a nice collection of pedals..... I’ve not yet tried the Fulltone OCD.... although I’m told it’s a modern day classic. Cheers Joe 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 hi Paul, my pedalboard developed on the back of doing a lot of gigging in a variety of venues. They are solo boosts really, and I found different ones sound good on different stages. Just helps get the job done ....and sound good
@@paulstaffordcook8799 the mkI version of the OCD is the most "amp-like" in my experience.
Thanks Joe. That seems to be quite common, i.e. the MK1 setting the standard and the Mk2 not quite hitting the mark. Cheers
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Hi Paul, shame we can't get together for a jam! Apparently there have been something like 9 versions of the OCD. Details are all on UA-cam. I use what is one of the first mkI's as I started buying fulltone pedals when peach in Colchester were the only place in the UK you could get them from back in 2006. I have also owned a mkIV and it was nowhere near as good as the mkI. In fact all attempts to improve on the mkI did not work!!...
Awesome video man.
Besides Europa are those your own songs?
Hi Angel Serrano. I’m afraid only the last one was my own - the one with the Telecaster. The one on the Strat was “Brush with the Blues” (Jeff Beck). And there was a section from “Still Got the Blues” (Gary Moore). Delighted you liked my vid 👍
was great that Paul, the Tele does is for me mate, just got the freqout pedal, mad that synth sound when you slide down the fret board though yuck, the trick i find with this pedal is best to pull off the feedback before moving to next note well better and more natural and just don't generally over use it like your demo, it was only your demo that convinced me to purchase so thanks mate, im after getting that sweet cream OD next the one before you got the broadcaster. cheers again mate. Tommy :0)
Hi Tommy, delighted I had a wee influence in your choice of purchase 😀👍. And you’re right about stopping the feedback just BEFORE you slide away from the note. Man, I can totally recommend the Sweet Cream overdrive. It has such a lovely punch. I don’t know exactly what frequency is being pushed but it just seems to lift your tone up and present it in such a lovely way. It’s also amazing that it competes with pedals 5 times the price! Anyway, delighted you liked my vid.
Muito bom!! Boa performance
Thank you 👍
HI Paul! great video and lovely playing, always a pleasure to watch you play!!! I have a 50 w katana with no loop effect. Do you use your pedal in front of the amp? could it work with the 50 compare to the 100w which has an effect loop?
Hi N. O. 👋. Thanks for the compliment, delighted you like my playing. I ALWAYS use ALL my pedals through the front of my amps and find this to be fine, including ambient effects like Delay & Reverb. In fact 2 of my amps (Cornell & Supro) don’t even have an effects loop. The only rule I tend to follow is pedal order, i.e. Guitar into Freqout, then into various overdrives, then into ambient / time based effects, then looper pedal then into front of amp. Hope that helps 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 thank you for all the details! I really appreciate!, you made my day!
I need your Cornell Romany so much indeed 😁
Ok, yours for fiver! But seriously, I can certainly recommend it. Most of my subscribers would probably agree with you and would pick the Cornell as their favourite.... it always seems to get nice comments. Cheers for watching 🙏👍
Paul, you would make a toaster sound good too. However great tonez from the Boss Katana and the Freqout is also on my list. Cheers!
Great playing again Paul. The pedal is kinda like pinch harmonics, should be used sparingly for a little spice.
Cheers Graeme, I agree. It would easy to over use it..... 🤣
Just class 😷😷
Thanks Tottenhamtillidie 🙏
Paul your awesome guitar player and your Boss Katana videos super, Question what difference setting. On Volume Max out and Master Volume 2-4 or. Master Volume Max out and Volume 2-4, is there differences?my Brother bought 100 watts with 1 12inch speaker Mk 2. I am trying set for him.
Good question James. Personally, I find no difference. My habit is to have the “Volume” quite high but the “Master Volume” very low. Also, 99% of the time I’m at bedroom volume and therefore on the half watt setting. Some of my subscribers say that they prefer the overall sound when the “Master Volume” is really high, and the “Volume” low. And many people say the amp is more “open” at the 50 watt or 100 watt setting. But I’m happy with my settings which seem fine at bedroom volume. Cheers James 👍

The expretions on your face are eve wortst!
To ay a 50 years part of solo and pretent you get it on is shame.
Shame..
Are you drunk? Go listen again, once you’ve sobered up. You’ll enjoy it.
The over exaggerated faces and body movements are forced and it’s very uncomfortable to watch. Constructive feedback for you to work on. Good luck.
Fair play, thanks for your feedback 😀
He wouldn't get his tone if he didn't make the faces and move. Ask Santana.
So D Bo dont move or make faces to express himself. The wife girlfriend probably bored with that. She's looking for somebody give her reason to move and make faces.
