My band went to IEMs last year and a quieter stage which killed my use of feedback. I finally purchased one of these and, wow. Even at very low levels (even in headphones) it works. I recommend setting the Onset at around 3 o’clock for more natural sounding feedback. Great video!
My dog hated this video. I however quite enjoyed it
That is exactly as brilliant as I hoped it would be.
That's now on my birthday list. Just so so so so much fun.
Nicely demoed chaps as well.
What an incredible sounding effect, and great playing as always guys!
To be honest, I look forward to each new DigiTech pedal ... they've become extremely interesting and improve the quality of their pedal !
They are on a serious roll.
Absolutely spot on guys! This Freqout pedal was one of the most interesting pedals I saw from all the coverage at Winter NAMM 2017. Totally thinking I need to grab this sucker ASAP...
This pedal screams SATRIANI. I would bet some serious money that it will make an appearance in Joe's rig some point soon. :)
*Great cover ! See that !**ua-cam.com/video/7I14asXpk_Y/v-deo.html*
The manual says that the FreqOut pedal should be first in your chain since it's simulating an effect that occurs in the guitar. (Pete and Mick don't read manuals, apparently.)
Also, the Type numbers indicate harmonics, not intervals.
Sounds more natural before drive, kinda like how feedback runs through the whole chain including drive
Mike Taffet I personally would use it just after a compressor in the drive chain, before any overdrive, and set the gain of the harmonic a fair bit lower than the guitar signal and the attack really slow so that it comes in more like natural harmonics.
That jam at the end was awesome. Good solo Mick!
I ordered one of these (from Anderton's, of course) as soon as I saw them. Been waiting for someone to come up with an authentic sounding feedbacker. I think the dry cut gives it a whole different dimension; eBow, theremin, flute etc. As Pete said, it will encourage you to play differently. Great demo, chaps!
Maaaan, that end jam!
Mick's playing never ceases to amaze me.
FINALLY. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, A PEDAL THAT CAN REPLICATE THE SOUND OF A FERNANDES SUSTAINER. I'll take take one, please.
James Is In Rainbows my thoughts exactly
A sustainer will do chords brother, I doubt this pedal can do that... sadly ;-/
Not exactly! A Fernandes Sustainer actually keep the string(s) vibrating! And all those "harmonic FX" are the result of the way the string takes the action of the Sustainer. The FreqOut DOES NOT keep the vibration going... It's about feedback, about amp's sound going into pickups. Not exactly the same for me! But shure quite interesting.
Paul Rooney it do it do
It is nothing like as musical; if you try to control the volume of the sustained note, it just cuts out. 'computer says no'!
That closing solo from Mick is SWEET! Mick, I definitely want to hear more of you rocking out with a bit more gain on! You and a 335 into that JCM800 would sound awesome!
Gary Moore's live version of 'Parisienne Walkways' springs to mind!
you know what? That was the shit. And that's my best compliment - truly deserved for both the playing and the boxes!!
This thing with a slide would be the best theremin imitation. Need.
This is a game changer for in ear monitoring. I'm getting one!
I really super want one of these. I might even want two.
Holy fucking shit I love these Guitar Paradiso sessions.
This will be great for my R2D2 themed band
Pete that Tele is to die for. The tone!
Would be (even) awesome-r if you could control it with an Expression Pedal.
CentaurusRelax314 check out the fender runaway
@@kyfisher3662 If you can find one :-)
I need this in my life!
i like how after reviewing the Eric Johnson tone capsule on the Roland Cube, you guys pull out EJ arpeggios all the time now. i know its been that long because that was when i started doing those arpeggios myself...
yes yes yes yes yes a wild carcosa appears in the video room! I've been wanting to buy that pedal sine it came out
Michael Masin did u buy a carcosa? Did u like it? I'm eyeing one off..
10:50 Interesting discussion on where to put this pedal. I think I agree with Mick: distortion, modulation, Digifreq, then delay. Damn, I need to buy one to try that....
Love it! More like this please-
Are yall ever gonna get the new Supro guitars?
Also, holy shoot. I've been dreaming of a good artificial feedback creator for years. This is exactly what I need.
That last jam was beautiful, think you could maybe release it on its own?
WOW what a final jam.
legitimately best pedal ever invented
OMG... that jam you two did at the end was GREAT!!
Are you two in a band together??
The passage Pete played t 08:50 was great.
Just got one for my birthday from the kids but am really struggling to get dependable and usable results. Wondering if my $180 would be better put towards a Schecter blackjack with the sustainiac pickup...?
would a wah work after it? or what would it sound with a wah?
million dollar idea: make a feedback expression pedal (like those ernie ball od expression pedals)
The pedal should be first in the chain
Anybody know why this has been late in coming out? Every place that takes preorders says tomorrow, then the next day tomorrow then.....
I've also seen that you should have this right after the guitar before any drives. BTW - songs with feedback as an integral part of the song - Bowie's "Heroes". This would work great for that song.
A better pedal for Heroes is EHX Attack Decay
Journey to the center of the mind
can you resume the videos? hard to find the demo into a 24 mn talk
Definitely getting one. If only just to play Steve Vai's Whispering A Prayer ;)
For that song you'd be better off with EHX Attack Decay.
Hey Andertons!
Would love to buy one these, but when the heck you getting them in stock???
Been checking since saw it on the NAMM vid, and the in stock date is constantly pushed back! Nearly 3 months and still no sign??
Advertising pedals you don't have in stock! How cruel! Or are these things now 'made-to-order'?
C'mon Andertons raise your game!
I have had it for over two years and it is extremely expressive. Generally, the demo is wrongly focused on tue auto-function. The pedal provides maximum expressiveness and realism when you play with latch.
Remember: This does replace an Ebow only in one part - sustaining. With the Ebow you also can play violin or cello like for example with the pizzicato effect. Therefore you have to hit the strings or sweep over them with the Ebow. The Freqout can't do that. But I want a Freqout anyway, next to my Ebow ;-)
it doesn't seem like it'd be difficult to get the ebow sound using a volume pedal though
The Ebow sound you are talking here is just one thing. But you can also pluck or sweep the Ebow over the strings, press on them and so on. This sounds like «bowing» on a violin or Cello (Pizzicato). This has nothing to do with a volume pedal or swell effects. You can't do that with the Freqout. This is a real potential of the Ebow most players don't know or can't produce. Just by the way. Of course, sustaining a single note is easier with the Freqout, Sustainiac or Moogguitar. But that's maybe 15% of the Ebow possibilities.
@@robertbossart The Ebow is just over priced & more for ambient music. I think for most guitarists this would emulate an Ebow just fine if you're not into ambient stuff. You can also get the EHX Attack Decay which will do Ebow ambient & a lot more.
Hmm, why no obscura delay? MXR is the odd man out there.
any chance Andertons (or on Rob`s chanel) could do a vid on different types of strings? I always seem to get phosphor bronze as they seem to be first on the shelf! although I realise it`s totally subjective, but, are there any type that are a better choice for electric or acoustic?
Watch this space.....
Does it work well with a bass ?
That Tele is probably the world's best sounding guitar right now. Maybe even ever.
09:00 always wanted my guitar to sound like a theremin to cover the Star Trek Theme.
Can you plug an expression into it
Can you manipulate the feedback with a trem like a floyd?
Of course you can.. In fact they even do that in this video lol
Couple this with The Miku and you have Mikout. Huh? Huh?.....Anybody?
WhippJunior I plan on doing exactly that. :D
sweetwater shipment arrived. mine is on the UPS truck today :P
Carbon Copy delay makes any shoe box sound great!
Really need to have it at the beginning of the chain to sound right.
What are the cables? Ernie.....?? Can't find them on the Anderton's site? They look cool plus I presume they're good or you wouldn't have used them?
Ernie Balls... Will be up soon..
Thank you!
..and the telecaster?
Red Rider, Lunatic Fringe is the perfect song for this
Too bad you didn't cover Supernatural by peter green, or parisienne walkways, or wind in the trees, i need this pedal!!
Dammit guys... Now I need to go out and buy one D,:
21:45 great end jam!
ben galvin indeed! Pete and Mick's jams are awesome (did anyone else thought this last one sounded kinda like Champagne supernova?)
One hundred and eighty Euro and you can sound like a Clanger - bargin'.
Looking forward to Mooer doing one for 60 quid...
If it turns out like their Whammy knockoff I'm not concerned (I'm trying out the "arrogant" thing that was mentioned by somebody earlier). ;)
DigiTech is now my favorite pedal brand, just because of that response.
LMFAO!
So my PC1 was replicated in a pedal then. Awesome. I don't have to buy expensive sustainer pickups for any of my other guitars now.
Geoff Sweet what is pc1? :)
DynaZor , it's a Jackson Phil Collen of Def Leppard fame model super strat.
DynaZor it's got a sustainer driver pickup in the neck position. Basically, it does what this pedal does... but you can control it with your hands while playing.
DynaZor a fucking expensive jackson guitar with a sustainiac
DaBeachmasta10 ... worth it....best playing guitar I own...my Les Pauls have been collecting dust...
They really put the eq in FreqOut.
I thought this was going to be a gimmick because of it "faking" the feedback. But that sound at about 10:00 is so cool as its own thing...
Did you have a game of who could wear the worst shirt?
Come on +Mick Taylor! "I'm trying to think of a song that has feedback as part of it..." Flying in a blue dream!
ford is a badass player!
Tengo un problema con esos feedbacks parece que me van a dejar sordo, nose si tenerlo en mi pedalboard de manera permanente.
You can switch it off.
The only thing that bothers me is the synth slide off sound.
needs an expression pedal???
Bet be cool with a slide.
That Dusenberg...
Did ya try putting the Freq Out first in line? Pete.
Yes you did. I got better results....
Try keeping the Freq Out clean if so.
10:16 The Clangers :-o
Sounded like a theramin at times
Is it weird that I wasn't sold on the pedal at all until Pete did the "two people talking" thing?
The10000lbGorilla you might want to check out the korg miku :D
We just got a miku in the pedal cock... Watch this space for a video featuring both pedals. :)
I couldn't stop laughing. It sounds like an episode of pingu!
Andertons Music Co Many thanks to the mastermind behind said impending mashup. Let his name be sung by the masses.
Why are there so few feedback pedals on the market? The place is oversaturated with drive pedals. Why not make a really good feedbacker??
Behringer used to have one but was discontinued
Specs on that Tele Pete?
I believe it's a non modified Costum Shop '52
Please, sound like creedence clearwater revival by busting the bank
My parents are gonna FreqOut if I use this pedal
What happens if you put a feedback destroyer behind it? :-)
Lasse Huhtala Higgs boson
You divide by zero
perpetual stillness
fucking awesome
aawwww freak out, le chic, great song, right? a little funk on a strat by nile rodgers , oh and the pedal is cool , science meets art , the future is now boys and girls
Sounds like a guitar morphing into a flute....?
shleprockshleprock lololol
Someone send one to David Gilmour, I bet he’d like this
Adam Jones too
@19:26 a little Sammy Davis Jr perhaps?
Great effect but easy to over-use
Looks cool but If This pedal cant make me hold feedback for 8 continuous seconds at Live gig volume,I wont buy it. Would be nice to see a reviewer that will hold some notes more than just a few seconds.
I know this is an old post but I think a compressor before the Freqout will do the trick for longer sustaining feedback. Freqout only feedbacks as long as it gets a signal ie a dry note that dies naturally after 8 seconds is what the freqout hears.A compressor acts as a sustainer hence the feedback lasts a lot longer. Makescsense ,although not tested it as haven't got this pedal ,just what I have read on other forums.Good luck.
You should call yourselfs Andertones.
1;46 cliffs of Dover inspired
10:00 Pan pipes or swanee whistle?
Looks like Ernie Ball is a new sponsor!
We like white cables......
make chappers and the captain do a little video on this, i wanna see what rob can do with it
Really ???
Just like a flute
Yeah, seems like the best setting is when “the pedal isn’t on” setting.
Feedback on a lightly overdriven tone is not natural. This thing is meant to be played on high gain rigs.
Alex Camalda you won't need it if you're playing through one of them though
I dont want to upset anyone but is there something "off" about the video quality? The DOG seems blurry and the colour and movement seems "American"? I can't explain it very well.
