Good comparison of the two. I have multiple 300 two strokes as well as a 701 enduro. While the 701is no lightweight 300 i'm still very surprised what it's capable of off road after dropping a tooth in the front the bike is a different animal off road. I can ride single track pretty quickly on it but not nearly as fast as on a 300. That being said my 300 on open roads goes 45mph and the 701? sky is the limit on that. different tools for different jobs.

The klx300s with adjustable suspension might be better than the crf.

Well, the only real thing on the CRF300L is a bit of power lacking.
The 701 as i agree it's size and steering angle makes it not want to go some places. I have the same thing with my bikes
The KLX250S is a bit weak, but it can go anywhere.
The DR650 is a step up, got the power. More nimble than the 701 Enduro but still a bit hefty alone on a tight spot.
The T700 is just... don't go where it's to shitty you might have to leave the bike 😉
So. Big bore kit on the KLX or CRF300L? 350cc 35hp?
Or if Suzuki wakes up and gives us a square bore 500cc. DR500. Something between the DR650 and DR350

Sorry -"Well, the only real thing on the CRF300L is a bit of power lacking. "I own one it needs a new rear shock and correct replacement cartridges(not just bigger spring) and a skid plate -about 1500e/dollars then its a good trail bike.
