    Nice build!
    I have a '23 701 and am running the same small but effective crash bars and Yosh can. The Yosh is long, but it sounds great without being loud unless one is into the revs and on the gas hard, and then loud is alright. It also won't roast the left turn signal. As for the turn signals, my usual approach is to replace them after I destroy them 😆
    I am tall so the stock ride height is fine. The bikes come delivered with the forks set at the lowest line 3. I extended mine to line 1 and the bike feels more in balance that way. Running a simple Puig screen on the stock headlight mask, that provides decent wind protection, takes it off the chest and is comfy at 75 on the highway.
    Really enjoying my 701. It sits between a 300 XC and a Super Tenere, got my bases covered. Still early days, but I suspect I will jump on the 701 the most.

      @@UPSHIFT_ONLINE Did a snorkelectomy on the stock airbox with a Twin Air filter and PC6 with Rottweiler map. OMG, the Kraken has been unleashed 😂 Dropped .65 fork springs in it and without a doubt a full revalve is a good thing, but just adding proper springs helped a ton. The stock .59 springs are way too soft and unbalanced with the .72 rear spring.

    Great video (as always)! Question about the Nitro Mousse: Are these still ok for road/hwy sections? What's the psi equivalent? I've got my 690 set up for mostly dirt, currently with UHD tubes, but I really hate flats...

      @TUBLISSMOTO 3 роки тому +5

      Nitromousse are NOT DOT approved so we cannot recommend them for any street use. That being said, since the Nitromousse has come to market, all of the Baja race winners have used Nitros so they do hold up well on hard flat surfaces at higher speeds. As for the PSI question, Platinum Nitros generally feel like 10-12 psi.

    Would you prefer the rade garage intake or the rottweiler intake? I've seen UPSHIFT has made a few build series for the 690/701. The extra fuel tank for me is of interest However I'm curious as to what system you would actually prefer. I'm open to all ideas and the fuel cell sounds really cool but idk if I need the extra fuel or not. I have yet to push the limits with distance on this bike here in Minnesota. Looking forward to hearing your opinion.

    • @UPSHIFT_ONLINE
      @UPSHIFT_ONLINE  2 роки тому +1

      It really depends on what you want to do with the bike. Do you want it to be more of an ADV or do you want it to be more offroad oriented. Rottweiler's parts are definitely more oriented to offroad performance. The Rade tank/intake is geared towards covering more ground.

    Dude, every time I think I want a T7 or 790/ 890, y'all do another 690/ 701 build reminding me that the XR650R replacement has been here for years. Totally putting this on my radar. Does the rear link shorten travel as well as ride height? Regardless, it's a bitchin build!

    • @JohannesDalen
      @JohannesDalen 3 роки тому +2

      Owned a T7, not going back to that weight class. Have a DRZ now and I look at the 690/701 to be the DRZ replacement. The XR650R is twice the bike the DRZ is, but its still enough for my shenanigans!

      @@JohannesDalen agree 100%. The 690/ 701 is a killer bike & with the newer motor, it really is capable on long highway runs. I enjoyed the T7 I spent a day on & Upshift built a badass ADV bike out of their project. But 450# of moto is 450# of moto. The XR-R might have been the ultimate mid size adv/ big bore trail bike. If Big H made their version of a 701 every fanboy out there would sell their XR-R tomorrow.

    • @taylorc4476
      @taylorc4476 3 роки тому +1

      @@JohannesDalen I think Big H or Suzuki would sell a mountain of 350- 375# adv bikes with good trail manners- 10" travel, 60- 70hp, FI, long service intervals, $12-15k, etc. The weight standards would favor a big single over a twin but I either way it would be much more trail worthy at that weight so long as you give it the suspension to handle the abuse. Even it there are base level suspenders, as long as it's decent stuff you can upgrade it should rock. So yeah, riding these things on trails is fun as long as they are manageable.

      I know this is an old comment, but it is very easy to weigh a bike of this size using an ordinary bathroom scale. Just measure how high the top of the scale is off the floor and stack some wood blocks to about the same thickness. Put one wheel on top of the scale and the other on the wood block, record that weight then do the same for the other wheel, and add them together for the total weight. It’s also a good way to know you have reasonably good front/rear weight distribution. Most bathroom scales go up to at least 300 lbs, which would be plenty for a 350 lb bike.
