Possibly the finest testament to Type 40 is the wide array of original, faithful, and innovative fans that wend their way to being interviewed by the channel, and the intriguing 'Doctor Who and the Mid Journey' was a worthy addition to this ever-growing list. Also, kudos to you both for a very balanced discussion about the pros and cons regarding AI, and its use/abuse. For my part, whilst harbouring concerns about the technology, I find it impossible to wish for anything but the continuance of the breath-taking examples of reimagining that I have already seen. That trailer shows how amazing Doctor Who is in our minds as fans and what I thought we might get with Disney money. It’s reassuring to see fans being able to produce this quality. There’s an inevitability to the Doctor Who future, maybe another round of wilderness years would liberate the show.
That's amazing technology. Computer pictures and Doctor Who feels very meta. I love how close it gets to the real thing with error like buttons and number of window panes etc.
As frightening a AI art is to me, and as astonishing as it is to see actual live action images pulled from the Novels, I cannot deny just how ground-breaking 'Midjourney' and DW here is - he is bringing to life the long neglected Virgin and BBC Books ranges and returning them to a sort of prominence and interest that I had thought audio/Big Finish had supplanted... And as a fan of the BBC McGann Doctor novels, I love it!! Just looking at his showreel at 51 minutes in I spot a wealth of live action scenes from the virgin and BBC books that I recognise straight away - Silurian on a T-Rex = No Future. Iris Wildthyme and her Bus, There's Lungbarrow, Is the lady in Gold 'Compassion'? There's the Ancestor Cell, President Romana, Is that a Faction Paradox ship or the dying Tardis? Not sure if that is a Faction Paradox agent following on, who is followed by a splendid shot of Grandfather Paradox (Paul McGann)! I wonder if we will see him able to prod 'Midjourney' into tackling Faction Paradox? I would love to see that group brought to life, but realise it might be tricky to realise. Of course Fitz Kreiner has got to be forthcoming surely?! And how would you go about creating Sabbath, without him looking like Lawrence (Morpheus) Fishburne...?😉 It's lovely work. I do hope he puts it onto UA-cam, where it would get a further audience.
That's incredible work and I much prefer his TV Movie look to his Night of the Doctor look so I'm glad they are using that, that's the Eighth Doctor to me.
