@@Jeff-zc6rr I think Zuckerberg had developed many applications before joining The Facebook which means that the Winklevoss Twins brought his technical expertise on board for a reason, without which they would've had no The Facebook that could develop into anything worthwhile. Pros of Python: 1) allows you to create an MVP pretty quickly; 2) the hourly rate is much lower; 3) it's easier to learn so there will be more developers.
@americancitizen748 thus, javascript. Almost as easy as python and can do all platforms. I am doing my mvp in react native and it is way easier than 'native' app platforms.
She became so famous because Mark Cuban wanted to buy out their startup and they never wanted it to sell. They got investment just because Mark wanted their startup.
She said a lot of points that I will definitely reference to. I plan on creating a new dating app and I was trying to answer the question of how to keep users engaged and coming back. She may be on to something with referencing gaming apps
thumbs up to that second guy's question about Legal and her genuine response but seriously, I can feel my leg in that guy shoe. I think he brought it up cos it can be scary sometimes based on what happened to top founders, so man got think of those legal things.
Python is a language for a website. No smartphone app at startup? How to hire the Android or iPhone programmer? Would like to know more about those details.
That's so crazy requiring a graduate in CS or CE from a "highly reputable institution" for $30/hour or nothing. I mean you know how much that degree costs? More and more I'm thinking this is a class thing, not a skills thing.
LOL the very first slide (with actual content) had me laughing hard already. Online dating is "optimized for men". Yeah right. Because men just love having to send hundreds of messages because they rarely ever get responses. And in some cases having to pay while women can use it for free. Ugh... I probably shouldn't bother listening to any more she has to say.
It appears to me many many people who give these presentations do so because they actually want to talk about their product and get an audience for their story rather than give people useful advice about the topic they're supposed to be speaking about. As evidence, I asked myself every minute that went by "what was the topic of what she said in the last minute?" And for just about the whole presentation the answer was "the purpose is to tell the audience about her app and it's story as a form of free PR and a sprinkle of self celebration." And I have done this for many other YC presenters and for many of them it's the same thing. Most notorious for this self centered manipulative behavior is the former Uber CEO Travis K. I think just about every presentation that guy did, no matter the topic, turned into an Uber documentary of different lengths. He doesn't even try to pretend to cover the topic. He just straight away goes into his story which often sounds like he's given it a 100 times already. Very canned. I think the organizers of these talks should be more aware of the people who do this and try harder to put people on that stage that will actually cover the topic and not use the time to just pitch their stories to anyone who hasn't heard it yet.
What you cooking?? Her topic is to share how she started her startup. She gave best talk, I listened to so many advice from so many founders, vc and accelerators before but this one showed exactly how she travelled the journey and good advice.
do you have any idea how fucking hard it's to built a a basic ecommerce site first you need do frontend for like 30-80 pages you need shipping system rating system admin panel with order, refunds, shipping, questions, inventory (sku, varieties, pricing for each) email reminders credit card handling (chargebacks, recurring payment) search functionality mobile version of all this shit testing SSL then you have to build architecture that is event system mail servers load balancers
What a lame idea for a dating app: sending me one dating profile per day “curated” buy someone like the speaker herself, who I have nothing in common with . Did this app ever made any money ?
***** funny how you guys are telling me I missed a chance when I am the one with money to spend. there are like thousands of programmers sitting in India which take half and do good work
If this is your idea of hot you’re at luck - there are about 3 billion of such hotties looking exactly like her in this world, they so numerous that it’s impossible to miss or avoid them.
I'm going to save your time - she outsourced MVP
This comment needs to be the inspiration for a UA-cam browser extension.
@@SchoolofAI A browser extension made without a technical cofounder... 😂
You should monetize this comment. You just saved me 30min

I've watched this 4x and each time, I learn more and more things that I can immediately put to use. Thanks so much.
What are you working on?
Pros of Python: 1) allows you to create an MVP pretty quickly; 2) the hourly rate is much lower; 3) it's easier to learn so there will be more developers.
But today the majority of people access an app via a smartphone. Need to know programming for Android or iOS to build an app.
@americancitizen748 thus, javascript. Almost as easy as python and can do all platforms. I am doing my mvp in react native and it is way easier than 'native' app platforms.
Great speech. it'd be best if you can share the slides. thanks.
aren't they from Shark Tank as well? kudos to them! these girls are tenacious!

Yeah, they turned down a $30 million offer from Mark Cuban!

Hey so what are you up-to can we connect
How did it go with your app😂

You don't need a CTO. You can outsource app development to someone else.
Can't see the screen that she is referring to, the camera was focused on her talking and not the slides she was talking about.
This was very good. Transparency!
Thank you for this, it really helps me a lot
No slides?
Python is a language for a website. No smartphone app at startup? How to hire the Android or iPhone programmer? Would like to know more about those details.
Go with react native. Especially if you plan to launch on both ios and Android
Her solution are not solving the problems she's stated. There is a miss match between problems and solutions.
MVP built in 4 weeks at 15 hours per week. That is a total of 60 hours. That can't be right. Maybe she meant 50 hours a week.
I think some good programmers can build a simple website that fast.
You could easily make a basic website in that time
That guy in the crowd actually started a 5 million dollar app
what's his name?
