If you want to get close to find out if your crush likes you, go in slowly. Don't rush at them full force with all your emotions because that can backfire. yeah I fell too fast and also had no clue how to go about it and so it backfired extremely. That was also due to acting out of an unhealed place, a lot of old wounds made me feel the need to perform or prove myself Even tho it hurt a lot I’m so grateful to have had that experience since it made me so much more aware of what I need to work on, but also that I am worthy of love just because I am, and I shouldn’t have to feel like I have to be a certain way to receive love. Quite literally how I am with my crush when they mention the staring/body language part, I’ve been think about giving gifts to my crush (female) such as drawings AND items, she likes btw thought but I’ll try and respect that about her because she deserves to feel special, not hated! I have a guy that I think I consider myself in the talking stage with? It is really hard to tell with him because we only know each other online. He is significantly older (he is 28 and I am turning 20 this year) but something just feels right about him. He acts like he genuinely cares about me and he helps me out when I need someone to talk to or when I just need to vent. I also listen to everything that he needs to say and back him up when he needs it so that helps a lot too. I want to be more than just "friends" but it is so hard to tell if he does too. I know that feelings are really hard to tell a lot of the time, but something is just there it feels like with him. I don't normally get this way with someone that I don't know very well, but I have been this way for a while and it is hard to hide it because a lot of our mutual friends also know about it and they kinda make fun of me for it (in a funny not rude way obviously) and he just seems like he feels like he feels something there too because of how he treats me. He is always making me laugh and smile and it is the most awkward thing when I start laughing my ass off because I don't like my laugh but he makes me like it more and more because of how much I laugh when I am talking to him. I'm in such a similar position and saw how much you wrote out that I just had to create a reply even if it's not of much help to you. In my case I'm the younger guy who likes an older girl- we met online and have become such good friends so I follow a lot of the sentiments you put for your situation. Age is tricky because no matter what you do there will be people who judge, but if this is the person you like/love then whatever other people think doesn't matter. People will judge anything they can find and age is just another one of those things. I talked to my friends about age gap since I have my own insecurities about it and one of them (who is in a 6 year age gap relationship) told me that if you were to look up some of the popular relationships there's a considerable age gap (For example: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds). Age is my biggest concern in my situation but with the way we treat each other when we talk and hangout that all seems to go away. I've decided to go very slowly with all of this since I had a friendship that went so fast it ended even faster a few months ago. Going slow kinda sucks with how strong your feelings can be but I think building a stronger bond overtime can lead to a better future, whether that is a (hopefully) romantic or platonic one. I think you're very lucky that you've met someone so great cause I know I for sure am glad I did. If you can meet this guy in person then I would take that opportunity first to see how things go in an in-person situation. I don't think I'll be able to meet my person irl but we've talked about meeting up a lot of times and I think in person interactions is your best way to see if you truly like this guy, but I'm assuming you will like him regardless so it's more importantly for how he acts around you in person. Reading signals through the online/texting environment is near impossible unless someone is being 100% direct so I've tried to stem away from that. However, despite not knowing the "true meaning" of your interactions you should cherish them. We get caught up thinking whether someone likes us back so much that we let the great moments slip away. At the very least you have a great friendship you will never forget, but I hope the very best for you in which this is the right person for you and you're the right person for him. I can ramble on about all of this but I'll just sum it up- take your time and go slow even if it hurts sometimes to do so. Enjoy yourself right now because even without you two being together romantically, you still have the bests of time. Feel you on the online connections and doubt, it really do be so close but its hard to say at the same time. Best advice I can give is, enjoy it. Whether its returned or not, that's wonderful to have someone like that. Agreed with the earlier responder, taking your time is the move in handling these things. It can give you a lot of space to be there with yourself, and provide you with what you're looking for in a way where you can see if he's there too or nah. Does that make sense? Like, I feel we go looking for things in other people, and when it's hard to see them, the best thing I can do is be there for myself and just ground myself, and then I see clearer. And then I find I may have been seeing truly, or I may be putting it in the relationship. I hope that works for you as well, or there's something you can learn from it. Talking about it straight is another option that's worked well for me, and really helped keep a friendship alive and in another case a relationship change into something new. Quite literally how I am with my crush when they mention the staring/body language part, I’ve been think about giving gifts to my crush (female) such as drawings AND items, she likes btw thought but I’ll try and respect that about her because she deserves to feel special, not hated! I remember the last time I interacted with her (the day before thanksgiving) I gave her an extra bag of cookies from the cafeteria because I saw another bag there as I already had my own, it didn’t look open or anything just COMPLETELY NEW and unbroken thankfully. So when my last class came around (I usually see her in science and history class though so I don’t get to see her as much) I gave her the bag of cookies before class began and the way she communicates just catches my attention so much! I just can’t even handle it sometimes and so I asked her if she would like the mini bag of cookies since I didn’t want them, the tone of her voice is just soothing. She says “mhm” as she shakes her head too as in “approve” and she takes them, puts it in her bag and then next thing ya know I managed to see through the bus she went on, s h e. A t e. T h e. C o o k i e s!!! She really ate the cookies I gave her, just a day before thanksgiving break I felt so accomplished and so brave/confident that I went on my usual bus standing so abroad and happy. I just hope that maybe one day I am able to ask her to be in a relationship (or just ask her to go with me to the movies near my school) and I’ll just hope she’s says maybe or yes

So, I'll tell y'all what happened with my crush bc idk if he likes me or not. First of, his close friends. They already know me really well! See here is the thing,
We do talk to eachother a lot and are a little close. Meaning, he might come up to me himself to start a conversation. One time I came to band class a little late and sat behind him and he scooted over next to me.
But see here is this other thing, he kind of acts a little similarly to a lot of other people. He is such an awkward extrovert. He can go up to anyone and strike up whatever convos regardless of who they are.
Like I said we are good friends and goof off a lot with eachother. However, I am kinda confident to say he probably just sees me as a good close friend. I still think that is fine honestly. However, I he ever confesses I'd definitely accept.

I have a guy that I think I consider myself in the talking stage with? It is really hard to tell with him because we only know each other online.
He is significantly older (he is 28 and I am turning 20 this year) but something just feels right about him. He acts like he genuinely cares about me and he helps me out when I need someone to talk to or when I just need to vent. I also listen to everything that he needs to say and back him up when he needs it so that helps a lot too. I want to be more than just "friends" but it is so hard to tell if he does too. I know that feelings are really hard to tell a lot of the time, but something is just there it feels like with him. I don't normally get this way with someone that I don't know very well, but I have been this way for a while and it is hard to hide it because a lot of our mutual friends also know about it and they kinda make fun of me for it (in a funny not rude way obviously) and he just seems like he feels like he feels something there too because of how he treats me.
He is always making me laugh and smile and it is the most awkward thing when I start laughing my ass off because I don't like my laugh but he makes me like it more and more because of how much I laugh when I am talking to him. I mostly need help knowing how to tell more if he actually feels the same way anymore.
We talk all the time when we aren't both working because we both work all the time but sometimes we talk even when one of us (usually me) is working because I work for a company that he used to work for (he worked in a different state than I do tho) and I work a lot of overnights or close to overnights and we both know the struggles of working there because of the situation. I rant to him all the time about my problems there and he listens and gives me ideas about what to do about the situations that I always rant to him about.
I also think that he has the feelings for me partially because he treats me like I actually deserve to be treated even without us dating. I just don't know how to describe it because we haven't met IRL yet but we might be soon.
My parents think that I am crazy for talking to someone almost 10 years older than me, but at this point I don't care because he is the only halfway decent person I have ever been anywhere near dating and he is the only one that hasn't been crazy and narcissistic and abusive.
Of course, we both have a lot of problems because we are human, but it feels like he completes me and is wanting to be more but it is so hard to tell. I could use some advice if possible pls
I'm in such a similar position and saw how much you wrote out that I just had to create a reply even if it's not of much help to you. In my case I'm the younger guy who likes an older girl- we met online and have become such good friends so I follow a lot of the sentiments you put for your situation. Age is tricky because no matter what you do there will be people who judge, but if this is the person you like/love then whatever other people think doesn't matter. People will judge anything they can find and age is just another one of those things. I talked to my friends about age gap since I have my own insecurities about it and one of them (who is in a 6 year age gap relationship) told me that if you were to look up some of the popular relationships there's a considerable age gap (For example: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds). Age is my biggest concern in my situation but with the way we treat each other when we talk and hangout that all seems to go away. I've decided to go very slowly with all of this since I had a friendship that went so fast it ended even faster a few months ago. Going slow kinda sucks with how strong your feelings can be but I think building a stronger bond overtime can lead to a better future, whether that is a (hopefully) romantic or platonic one. I think you're very lucky that you've met someone so great cause I know I for sure am glad I did. If you can meet this guy in person then I would take that opportunity first to see how things go in an in-person situation. I don't think I'll be able to meet my person irl but we've talked about meeting up a lot of times and I think in person interactions is your best way to see if you truly like this guy, but I'm assuming you will like him regardless so it's more importantly for how he acts around you in person. Reading signals through the online/texting environment is near impossible unless someone is being 100% direct so I've tried to stem away from that. However, despite not knowing the "true meaning" of your interactions you should cherish them. We get caught up thinking whether someone likes us back so much that we let the great moments slip away. At the very least you have a great friendship you will never forget, but I hope the very best for you in which this is the right person for you and you're the right person for him. I can ramble on about all of this but I'll just sum it up- take your time and go slow even if it hurts sometimes to do so. Enjoy yourself right now because even without you two being together romantically, you still have the bests of time. Lastly, love is strong enough to breach any barrier- so this love of yours isn't an impossible one. Best of luck to you and I hope the day comes in which the two of you are together.
Feel you on the online connections and doubt, it really do be so close but its hard to say at the same time. Best advice I can give is, enjoy it. Whether its returned or not, that's wonderful to have someone like that. Agreed with the earlier responder, taking your time is the move in handling these things. It can give you a lot of space to be there with yourself, and provide you with what you're looking for in a way where you can see if he's there too or nah. Does that make sense? Like, I feel we go looking for things in other people, and when it's hard to see them, the best thing I can do is be there for myself and just ground myself, and then I see clearer. And then I find I may have been seeing truly, or I may be putting it in the relationship. I hope that works for you as well, or there's something you can learn from it.
Talking about it straight is another option that's worked well for me, and really helped keep a friendship alive and in another case a relationship change into something new. If they're a real friend, they'll be open to talking about how you feel and keeping the relationship alive. Rooting for your happiness, and longevity in laughing xD

My highschool story(a little long)
Like in my highschool there was a really cute guy..So one fine day I was having my exams and so according to roll number I was sitting with my crush's male best friend, I remember when I kept my head down on the table my crush who was sitting a little far away from me (in another column)did the same so he was basically mirroring me and I was like OMG😯 and his best friend who was sitting with me he was continuously looking and observing both of us left and right and I could actually see that he was mirroring me and this happened for four times in 3 days he was mirroring me all the time my crush even teased me in a healthy & funny way for my wrong answer in paper after the exam was over and I couldn't think that whether he likes me or not but I think I am too late to think about it now and I was so happy but now my high school has ended😭♥️
