Samba Pa Ti gave all young musicians a look into the dances of South American/Latin dancing. That especially the Samba dance. Watch some excellent dancers doing the Samba. The dance style is dripping with sexuality and manliness-at least as we used to see it. Not to say anything about what’s right n’ wrong. Just, that’s Samba!
I’m 65 now but when I was a young teenager, my uncle introduced me to Carlos Santana and I’ve been a fan ever since. This is one of my favorite songs. Great reaction.
This past Saturday afternoon, my (step) dad was clinging on in his hospice room. I started playing a few tunes he liked, on my phone. The studio version of this was the 2nd track I played - while my sister and I each of us on his bedside, held his hands. He squeezed our hands when he could, even getting into it as if he were air guitaring..... the man was smiling....... 24hrs ago around this time, we lost him. He introduced me to this song. So now whenever I hear it, it's *HIS* song. Folks, if your dads are alive & well, give'em a hug just that much more tighter, and tell'em you love'em.
Very wise words. My dad had dementia and couldn’t always remember who we were, but he would happily sing along whenever we played his favourite old songs. Music is so powerful and I’m glad your family shared that with your dad before he passed. May he rest in peace
There’s another version of this song that I highly recommend with Carlos and José Feliciano, who added Spanish lyrics to this instrumental, and plays acoustic guitar. It’s beautiful. Also, another iconic instrumental of his is Europa.
I love this man! I have listened to him for over 40 years. This is my absolute favorite song of his. Thanks for choosing it! If you hear 3 chords of his guitar, you know who's playing. He has his own original sound. He has a song featuring Michelle Branch called "The Game of Love." His solo in it is phenomenal. Santana once said " I don't play the music. The music plays me."
About 20 years ago i heard these 2 local guys play this on a beach at a restaurant in Belize Although it was not Carlos it did something to me the song was magical
An outstanding choice for tonight. Key members of the original version of Santana, the band, with Greg Rolie on keys and Neal Schon on guitar backing up Carlos. Of course we all remember how Greg and Neal went on to form Journey.
They also did a kind of reunion of the old Santana band but without Carlos himself. The band was called ABRAXAS POOL, and they did an album in the beginning 90s. Great album.
This song is a slice of heaven on earth, and is one of if not the greatest instrumental of all-time. Other Santana classics include: "Evil Ways", "Black Magic Woman", "Soul Sacrifice", "Open Invitation", 'Oye Como Va", "Everything's Coming Our Way", "Jingo" "Winning", "Hold On" and an incredible version of The Zombies classic, "She's Not There".
As a budding 70 year old rock guitar legend, I ascribe to Carlos' mantra that you can't get that perfect note unless you make the face to go with it. Cheers....
This song came out in 1970 ~ I was 14 years old. It covered me with goosebumps and filled my eyes with tears then! and it feels exactly the same way 53 years later! What a gift he is to the world!
Until this man I didn't know a guitar could emit that much emotion. This song drove the my 70s Latino community crazy. Glad to see young folks discovering this!
The sound that Carlos and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straights gets out of their instruments with firger picking will never not amaze me. True masters of their crafts. Also I smiled so big when Jay just started naming off guitarist and mentioned Joe Bonamassa. Come such a long ways from the start of this channel.
Carlos Santana has a brother, Jorge, who also had his own band in the 1970's called "Malo." They had a hit song called "Suavecito" that's really tasty! Jorge unfortunately passed on in 2020 😢 Also hit up Linda Ronstadt with the Chieftains "La Virgen De Guadalupe". The Chieftains are an Irish band, but the album Santiago is an homage to Galicia, an autonomous region of Spain where the language, music, and culture retain a distinctly Celtic influence from the area's original inhabitants.
A few thangs. 1. There is a vocal version of this beautiful love song. 2. Santana sings with his guitar. 3. Santana's entire Abraxas album satisfies your desire for Latin flavours. Every song is great, including this one of course, but also Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, Incident at Neshabur, on and on... They also flow well together. Great review y'all. Off to watch the Man of Mystery...
Awesome, can't go wrong with Santana, always worth a listen. Try Hope Your Feeling Better from his brilliant Live at Tanglewood 1970 show for a look at what helped make him a legend. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
I've seen Santana in concert 4 times, dating back to 1977. Always puts on an amazing show. I suggest the next song should be Everybody's Everything. The studio version, featuring the Tower of Power horn section.
Omgggg this is my favorite song in the entire album !!!!!! I saw them in concert, many, many, many years ago It was PHENOMENAL!!!!! I believe when they played this song, I was crying …. I know, I’m a sap …. Oh well ……. 🤷🏻♀️. 🥰😘
Great reaction Amber and Jay! Santana is a top level guitarist. I've really enjoyed his music for decades. If you haven't reacted to it before, you will have to listen to Soul Sacrifice from Woodstock. I believe it was the performance that really got him started to rock 'n' roll greatness.
You might also enjoy some songs from his Supernatural album where he collaborated with many other major artists. The song "Smooth" with Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 was a huge hit.
He's such a treasure really. You know you're a good guitarist when you have Jimi Hendrix complimenting you. And Santana is really generous with working with other musicians. Probably one that isn't that well known, which sucks because it's a great song, is the song he does with Michael Jackson "Whatever Happens". You can just tell in that song the respect they have for each other. Please check that one out. 😎👍
For pure Latin Rock by Santana, you need to check out Corazón Espinado with Mana, another awesome Latin Rock band from Mexico. Original music video. This was on his comeback Supernatural album that Smooth/w Rob Thomas was on. Along with Maria Maria and Put Your Lights On with Everlast. This Woodstock guitar legend from the late 60s came out with Supernatural 30 years later in 1999 and won 9 Grammy Awards breaking Michael Jackson’s Thriller record.
My favorite Santana song!! So sexy, he makes all his songs with such soul and feeling!! You always know it’s Carlos! Yes, one of the best ever!!!❤️❤️❤️
I've had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Santana perform live over the decades coast to coast. I recently saw him perform last July , Santana and his band sound just as good as he was 20 years ago. A truly world class act. He always attracts top talent to work with him in studio and on tour. One of his finest works was the 'Super Natural" album . Two of my favorite tracks are " Maria Maria" and "Put Your Lights On". I think you'll enjoy reacting to them.
Sometimes, you hear an artist play music and it’s just an experience…when you see and hear an all time great play a beautiful piece of music - it takes you to another place…..how can the video that I have just watched - fill my eyes with tears? No sadness…just pure joy
Awesome reaction 😄 FYI, The Conga player, drummer and the keyboard player, are the original musicians that played with him at Woodstock 🎶 recommend "Everybody's everything" With the Tower of Power horn section, and the entire album "Santana" 1, Thank you Peace! 🙏
Carlos plays from his soul. You can hear it in every note. This is one of my favorites of his. Well, every song on the album Abraxas is my favorite! I played the grooves out of this album in the 70s!
I found your channel by accident a couple weeks ago and have been binge watching all the 60's and 70's music reactions. It's like reliving the soundtrack of my youth. I have no idea of your ages but it warms my heart to see young people enjoying the same music I love. Also I'm impressed with how well you are able to understand the context of many of the songs. 👏
May I recommend the jazz fusion anthem "Rise" featuring Santana, Herb Albert (of the Tijuana Brass) and Chuck Mangione (sp?) Together is a most danceable tune.
They've already covered "Rise" I would recommend Alpert's "Route 101" and "Garden Party". I'm a fan of his as well as Chuck Mangione. Actually, I was in a Jazz Arrangement class with him in Rochester at Eastman. He was my very first concert, "The Feels So Good" tour.

Haven't heard this song in years. I had the single as a little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old. I always cried when I heard this beautiful song. 40 years later and still crying. The perfect example that you don't need a singer to deliver emtions. I recommend everybody get yourself some headphones and listen to the studio version. Like I did as a little child.
“Black Magic Woman” that moves into “Oye Como Va”. But it’s so much better when you do the songs together. Santa Esmeralda is another group to react to especially their “You’re My Everything “, “House of the Rising Sun”, and “ Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood “. You will love it!!!!!
This song always takes me back to Iraq in the summer of 2003, when 4 of us were chilling in the back of a humvee listening to Santana on an MP3 player. I didn’t know that in less than two years I’d be the only survivor.
Santana is a god in the latin rock world. Suggestion, Santana playing with, Gato Barbieri, one of the greatest guitarists and one of the greatest saxophonist......ever!🎼🎶🎵🎶🎸🎷😎😎
Two artists with Spanish heritage come to my mine. Freddie Fender " Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and Mr. Johnny Rodriguez. Johnny has many wonderful songs, but one of my favorites is " We Believe in Happy Endings". Give these guys a listen, they won't disappoint!
There are opportunities to go really heavy for Hispanic Heritage Month. Check out "Fundamental" by PUYA out of Puerto Rico and "Roots Bloody Roots" by Sepultura out of Brazil.
So glad you played this. It is one of my all time favourites. Used to play it full blast on my record player(yes, vinyl) back in the early 70s. Stunning!
I love his guitar. So many different sounds come out of it and he can make it sound like most any other guitar. Jay, you have to do Steve Vai guitar solo "For The Love Of God" with the orchestra. Dude!!
Brings back happy memories. I was priviliged to see this amazing guy perform live in Birmingham , UK, many moons ago. He did an absolutely barnstorming version of 'Black magic woman' which had us all on our feet at the end applauding this guitar playin god.... He didn't play Samba Pa ti though, and i think it was because people were shouting too hard for it, almost demanding. And i think he was a little insulted..and didn't play it. But by god, the concert was still absolute FIRE..!😀😀😀
Keep the Latin theme going! You should check out an artist named Benny Mardones. Take a listen to the original audio of "Into the Night" from the album, Never Run, Never Hide (1980). The song is haunting, scandalous, but very soulful and emotive as well. One of the GREAT vocal performances in pop music history. 💯❤️🔥
Yes, ignore the first line of the song and don’t look at a video. This song is perfect when you’re driving home at night by yourself in the car. You can turn up the music real loud and you sing with him!!!
So glad that you lovely young folks finally reacted to this song...first heard this on the Abraxas album when it came out, I was in third grade and the whole album was awesome but Samba Pa Ti embedded itself in me and will always be my favorite song ever! The way the song flows is like the soundtrack of a relationship...starts off slowly and then builds up as time passes... perfection
A must for a Latin choice, The Girl from Ipanema, it was a worldwide hit in the mid 60’s and won a Grammy in 1965. Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Please check it out, beautiful tune.
Carlos is The Zen Master of guitar. He's also one of a few players that you can identify after a few notes. For your next guitar instrumentalist you should go in a different direction and check out Joe Satriani: Surfing With the Alien, Satch Boogie, The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing (my fave), Summer Song 🤘🤘
One of the greatest "single note" lead players. I'm glad I got to see him live working at music midtown festival in Atlanta magic. Been listening since I was 12. 2974. Sometimes it's not how many notes you can play it's what you can do with only one. Love you guys. Just keep digging
For another Hispanic Heritage reaction, please consider “Suavecito” by Malo (1971), a band that includes Carlos Santana’s brother Jorge Santana. Wikipedia calls it “The Chicano National Anthem” - I don’t know about that, but it is a beautiful song.
over forty years ago, that was my father's music... and to this day, that magic is still with me and the memories of my father's stories about his first santana concert leave me with a good feeling
True. I made a compilation of Santana instrumentals. They are fantastic. Neal Schon has several a well. I can say they transpose well to saxophone. That's how I play them because I suck at guitar and string instruments.
Exactly right. This one doesn't need words. Carlos sings through his guitar and sets a mood. I love the first three albums. Check out Evil Ways, Hope You're Feeling better, No One To Depend On and Everything's Coming Our Way. Lots of good stuff after that too like Europa, Well All Right, Open Invitation, Winning and Put Your Lights On. Evil Ways was the first song of theirs I heard on the radio when it came out and I was hooked. Can't mistake those opening drum beats.
Jay & Amber, You'll love Santana's "Everybody's Everything" and "Oye Como Va" !!!! edit- fun video of Carlos seeing a 7 year old really play this song - ua-cam.com/video/hKTK9WrsHFg/v-deo.html . Also, for Spanish Heritage month - Marc Anthony “You Sang To Me”!!!! A modern day crooner vibe.
This Song is still one of My All Time Favorite Santana Jams! This Song got major play during the Summer of 76. I still play it, it's incredibly beautiful. EXCELLENT CHOICE!!!
The entire album (Abraxas) is pure gold.
👍👍💯💯
Samba Pa Ti gave all young musicians a look into the dances of South American/Latin dancing. That especially the Samba dance. Watch some excellent dancers doing the Samba. The dance style is dripping with sexuality and manliness-at least as we used to see it. Not to say anything about what’s right n’ wrong. Just, that’s Samba!
I wore Abraxas on a 8 - Track in my first car in 72 .
My fav Santana album.
I agree
I’m 65 now but when I was a young teenager, my uncle introduced me to Carlos Santana and I’ve been a fan ever since. This is one of my favorite songs. Great reaction.
Beautiful song. I love it. You guys should listen to "Oye Como Va" by Santana
They should also check out the original version from Tito Puente.
Yes!!!!
Rodrigo y Gabriela is an incredible brother and sister flamingo modern guitar team.
They should also listen to Maria Maria
I especially love Migra Migra with several artists and music styles and instruments. It's ethereal.
I did the same thing for my dad. I grabbed his phone and started playing all his favorites he had on there 👍🏽
What a moving picture. You will always have this tune to bring back the warmth and feeling of love for him, and for that you are fortunate.
I'm so sorry for your loss.😢 Some really good advice there!
I try to do this all the time with my loved ones now - give them 💯 every time I'm with them ... life is short ❤
Very wise words. My dad had dementia and couldn’t always remember who we were, but he would happily sing along whenever we played his favourite old songs. Music is so powerful and I’m glad your family shared that with your dad before he passed. May he rest in peace
I forgot just how beautiful this song is. It is beyond technique. It feels like every happy day you've ever had.
Love that analogy 👍❤️
Can't go wrong with anything by Carlos Santana!!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎹🎸🎸🎸🥁🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘💜
There’s another version of this song that I highly recommend with Carlos and José Feliciano, who added Spanish lyrics to this instrumental, and plays acoustic guitar. It’s beautiful. Also, another iconic instrumental of his is Europa.
Cool! Thanks for the suggestion ~ 🥰
Don't forget BELLA
I love this man! I have listened to him for over 40 years. This is my absolute favorite song of his. Thanks for choosing it! If you hear 3 chords of his guitar, you know who's playing.
He has his own original sound. He has a song featuring Michelle Branch called "The Game of Love." His solo in it is phenomenal. Santana once said " I don't play the music. The music plays me."

They also did a kind of reunion of the old Santana band but without Carlos himself. The band was called ABRAXAS POOL, and they did an album in the beginning 90s. Great album.
And of course the Santana IV album from 2016 where they reunited.....and created the magic again just like that.
Unfortunately Journey were dreadfully middle of the road.
And Michael Shrive on drums
This performance was all the living originating members of the band.
“I don’t play the guitar, the guitar plays me!”
Carlos Santana ♥️🇲🇽
This song is a slice of heaven on earth, and is one of if not the greatest instrumental of all-time.
Other Santana classics include:
"Evil Ways", "Black Magic Woman", "Soul Sacrifice", "Open Invitation", 'Oye Como Va", "Everything's Coming Our Way", "Jingo" "Winning", "Hold On" and an incredible version of The Zombies classic, "She's Not There".
Nice selection! Love Alex Ligertwood singing on Hold On.
As a budding 70 year old rock guitar legend, I ascribe to Carlos' mantra that you can't get that perfect note unless you make the face to go with it. Cheers....
I am 71 and want to thank you for telling me what has been missing in my playing.
No one sustains like Carlos. One note goes straight up to heaven.
This has always been my absolute go to music for when I want to mellow out.
De Guadalajara, Mexico, to the World, señores, Carlos Santana..Gracias for sharing this magnifica pieza, saludos desde San Luis Potosi, Mexico...
I think they have no idea how good Mark Knopfler is. They reacted to Sultans of Swing, but half of it was missing.
Yeah, and Jeff Beck is a master of that!
The fact that so few people knew of him before Smooth is criminal, the man made magic since before Woodstock
Santana has always played with this style, Abraxas was a good introduction to his music, been a favourite for years. 😎🍺
A TRUE TREASURE!🎸👏 👏 👏
Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
"Europa" by Santana IS A MUST!!! ♥️🎸👏☮️😎🤘
Seeing him play that live brought me to tears on 3 occasions.
Yes! Europa!!!
Yes, definitely!!!
Yes yes yes ...
@@armadillotoe Totally understandable!
You should do another by Santana called “ Oye como va” killer jam or a jam by El Chicano called “ Viva Tirado” both jams are FUNKY.
Another great song that was a fave of mine by Santana was an 80s hit called Winning, would love if you reacted to it!
Oh my goodness YES!
I can have Winning on repeat & never get tired. Love it!!!!!
I bought that album, Zebop when it came out in 1981. I also saw the concert for that
tour for at the Nassau Coliseum . Great show .
I've seen Santana in concert 4 times, dating back to 1977. Always puts on an amazing show. I suggest the next song should be Everybody's Everything. The studio version, featuring the Tower of Power horn section.
I saw Santana live in 1971 at Kent State University. Awesome show. My first ever concert.
1969 Diamond Head Crater festival!
Omgggg this is my favorite song in the entire album !!!!!! I saw them in concert, many, many, many years ago
It was PHENOMENAL!!!!! I believe when they played this song, I was crying …. I know, I’m a sap ….
Oh well ……. 🤷🏻♀️. 🥰😘
Legend! Thank you Fam! U guys grind the most! Much ❤💯🍻
Great reaction Amber and Jay! Santana is a top level guitarist. I've really enjoyed his music for decades. If you haven't reacted to it before, you will have to listen to Soul Sacrifice from Woodstock. I believe it was the performance that really got him started to rock 'n' roll greatness.
They have
@@O_Towne_Bear ok, thanks.
Carlos is amazing. Very beloved here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm so blessed to have seen him perform live.
It’s a great performance but also a great example of why you’re missing a lot from the studio version ✌️
Great to hear some Santana! So Nice! Thanks You Guys! :)
Carlos Santana is on another level, spiritually. I’ve seen him in person many times and it’s always a positive experience. His playing speaks to me
Such a spiritual player. So here we go! Black Magic Woman, written by Peter Green. Back to the stratosphere we go! Ah. Thanks!
Peter Green needs to be given some attention. His early version of of Fleetwood Mac is so different from what they later transformed into.
Great reaction again, Jay and Amber.
'Black Magic Woman' is the track you're thinking of, which is actually a cover of a Fleetwood Mac track.
"Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac is a great track for them as well.
@@seanswinton6242Yes, an excellent song from the Peter Green days, I also love, 'Man of The World' and 'Oh Well' from back then.
No one plays with more pure emotion than Carlos Santana.
No one sounds or plays like Carlos. His music sooths the soul. It puts you as close to heaven as humanly possible.
Only Santana can produce that sound.
This song is sooo beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes. Listen to it with your eyes closed.
You might also enjoy some songs from his Supernatural album where he collaborated with many other major artists. The song "Smooth" with Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 was a huge hit.

Fifty years of listening to Santana and still get the same listening pleasure.
Carlos plays from his soul. You can hear it in every note. This is one of my favorites of his. Well, every song on the album Abraxas is my favorite! I played the grooves out of this album in the 70s!
i still can't believe that Santana played at Woodstock. Talk about longevity.

One of the greatest guitarists of all time, period! Andale!!
The guitar for Carlos is simply an extension of his soul. Beautiful
Just saw him at Crossroads last weekend
Still great 🎸🎶
He also makes you want to get up and dance!! Live it!!

Saw him with the dead in the 80s, Santana and Garcia? Heaven on earth!
Guitar wizards... Must hear at some point!! Steve Vai - I know you're there, and Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
Over 50 years; this song still gives me chills every time I hear it.

Flor de
Luna" by Santana . So Beautiful
Spiritual. Especially live, outdoors, 15k+ fans all dancing, grooving, enjoying the day, the music and life for the moment!
Benny Rietveld on bass thank you very much! Super nice guy too.
This song always takes me back to Iraq in the summer of 2003, when 4 of us were chilling in the back of a humvee listening to Santana on an MP3 player. I didn’t know that in less than two years I’d be the only survivor.
Thanks for your service, RIP to your friends
There could have been someone with a similar experience in 1973 Vietnam.
Sorry for your loss
So smooth, just how every note simply flows into next. So beautiful. 😊
You have to do Oye Como Va. The BEST Santana song. It will get you on your feet!
It's a beautiful piece of music the guitar sings without the need of words.
Santana is a god in the latin rock world.
Suggestion, Santana playing with, Gato Barbieri, one of the greatest guitarists and one of the greatest saxophonist......ever!🎼🎶🎵🎶🎸🎷😎😎
What amazing people you two are,if more people were like you the world would be a much nicer place. Love watching you both.
Also some Texas Tornados with Flaco Jimenez, and his work on the Mavericks "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down."
@@seanswinton6242 Texas Tornados singing "Who were You Thinking Of?" Freddie Fender was one of the greats, no matter what name he was singing under.
Carlos Santana, all the words iconic, a music genre he started and has lasted for decades and decades!😊
Dude!!
Also "Tender Surrender." That song, like this, is on my guitar instrumental playlist.
Just don't watch the video...Its CREEPY as Hell!!!
@@waynecanning4122 So is the song. A 16 year old girl.

A small amount of research will reveal the real origin of the song.....

Yes, ignore the first line of the song and don’t look at a video.
This song is perfect when you’re driving home at night by yourself in the car. You can turn up the music real loud and you sing with him!!!
The song and video is creepy and scandalous, but what a powerful voice Benny had!!
That's how you make a guitar sing. 🥰 What else can I add? Carlos Santana is one of my heroes and an epic guitarist. ❤❤❤
Carlos is The Zen Master of guitar. He's also one of a few players that you can identify after a few notes.
For your next guitar instrumentalist you should go in a different direction and check out Joe Satriani: Surfing With the Alien, Satch Boogie, The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing (my fave), Summer Song 🤘🤘
my very favorite Carlos Santana!! Play it often on a couple of my playlists
Though Roy Clark is not Latino/Hispanic, you should still check out his live performance of "Malagueña." It is nothing short of amazing.
You should check out The Gipsy Kings. Great latin acoustic guitar, SOOOO good!
Wow - no words and it brings tears with it's beauty.
Just love Santana - his music is just so romanticly sexy; it makes you just want to sway and feel the love!!!
It’s a sexy song! You got it!
Maybe they'll love those songs. Maybe they won't. Let's wait for them to react and tell us.
This Song is still one of My All Time Favorite Santana Jams! This Song got major play during the Summer of 76. I still play it, it's incredibly beautiful. EXCELLENT CHOICE!!!
