Far too many critics on this. Be grateful someone, who actually knows what he’s doing, wants to help you and isn’t charging you for the privilege. I’ve been paying a health professional £40 for 20 minutes (and this can be very cheap) and, after several weeks, have got absolutely nowhere unlike the exercises on this channel. He’s a lovely guy with a lot of knowledge and a caring demeanour. Don’t knock it!
Diagnosed with a calcified ligament (?) 18 months ago , walking / sleeping pain a nightmare , NHS next to useless , still not seen a specialist , but I’ve tried a load of UA-cam ideas and these exercises are so stupidly simple but are working miracles for me , coupled with watching HOW I walk , and now finally can see a very bright light at the end of the tunnel . Thank you very much !
Possibly helpful, you might consider vitamin K2 and taurine. These two nutrients regulate minerals in the body, including calcium. Vitamin K2 would be particularly important for your situation, as it determines that calcium ends up where it's needed (bones) and not where it's damaging (brain, arteries, ligaments, etc).
When I was diagnosed with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, the best the doctor could do was recommend seeing a specialist. No, no, no, NO! Why not? Because painkillers are always the first choice for specialists. Patients certainly don't benefit. They end up dead or in rehab because of dangerous drugs. I'll take the physio, thank you very much.
I do these stretches every single morning together with heel raises, toe raises and shallow squats whilst eating brekkie and then the same whilst eating lunch. Easy to fit into a busy day. I compliment this with daily evening glute strengthening and your common sense technique of getting in and out of a chair. Combined, they have all made a huuuuuuge difference to my knee health. I cannot thank you enough for your clear, straightforward, no fancy equipment needed approach and being ine if a very small group of physios who truly targets the over 50s realistically and with respect for our intelligence!
I appreciate your videos. You are clear, concise, well spoken, you present yourself professionally, and you explain the “why” behind everything. Thank you!
Phenomenal! I am 61 and had niggling left knee pain since a too long hike in May of last year. The last 8 weeks have excruciating and I finally saw a therapist who did not help at all. I haven't been able to walk my dog or ride my horse for months! I had some relief right away the first day after trying this. Today is the second day and I would say that there is about 80% improvement! I've heard of engaging the glutes, but no one has explained it so it makes sense, or even WHICH glutes we needed to address. Thank you for keeping it simple AND effective!!! I look forward to being back to 100% again soon!
Thank you so much. My husband did the exercise and felt it immediately. He looks forward to learning more. I appreciate the “WHY” this works and “what to do” explanation. Keep up the good work. I look forward to hearing more and learning from you. For those who do not feel they need an explanation for the exercise, just scroll through.
Just got back from my GP Physiotherapist who examined my knee by pressing and moving my knee. I took your book to show him. He asked what exercises l did from your book including the glutes. He was happy for me to carry on with them and gave me an exercise sheet which had some of the exercises you demonstrate on it. So l'm carrying on with your exercises. An injection has been booked next month into my knee. The physiotherapist was very keen that l carry on with your exercises. Great stuff!! 👍
Thank you for seeking a second opinion, I'm pleased that your physiotherapist recommended similar exercises. It's always validating to have multiple opinions to ensure you're receiving the best care. I hope these exercises prove beneficial for you!
We have the best pickle ball player in the rec center I go who happens to be over 80 yrs old. She was a great tennis player and she s fast and strong, nothing funny really!!
I have tried everything, been xrayed, ultra sounded, MRI'd and all showing no problem, nothing serious, but pain on the inside of both knees that stayed with me for over four months. I was told rest. DId that. 9 week of boredom. I just started following your exercises and in just over a week I can already feel the difference and things starting to improve ! Thank you ! I will be buying the book !
@@sharonwalters6135 The guy was probably calmer than you sound, and, personally, I do agree with his basic message: "If you cannot bring good news don't bring any"...unless youve got some positive criticism to bring forward. I really like this level of explanation - simple, short and clear, just enough so we can understand what we are doing, but not so much it gets boring and long-winded.
Great exercise. BTW your camera cuts off your legs at lower calf so it's not exactly clear where you are pointing your leg. I guess experimenting until you get an ache below the belt at the back will help.
Your video just appears on my screen and looks amazingly simple I am 71 years old and have osteoarthritis on my left knee I will try your method and will get back to you with my prognosis Many thanks
Wow.. thanks.. came across your videos this morning, just when i started having problems walking because of knee pain and hunching and balance problems... I have always been pretty strong but i am now 65yrs and i see that i have taken my physical conditioning for granted.
I'm sorry to hear that you have started having problems walking, but I'm glad my video was able to come at the right time for you - I hope it can offer some support during this time :)
Thank you for all your help and care. I have been following and recommending your videos to friends and families. I am 64 and very grateful to have found your channel, Will. 🙏🏼💌
Excellent video for ALL ages. I have always been very athletic and active in all sports. Like most of us that came to a sudden end with the onset of the pandemic. I was amazed by the pain that returned from a car accident I sustained in my late teens and plantar fasciitis running injury from years ago all from muscular weakness due to lockdown sedentary lifestyle. After lockdown lifted I was so anxious to be in a gym I of course went from 0-60 immediately. A rookie move and I know better but some people couldn't wait to go to a restaurant and I couldn't wait to go to my gym:) I am still working on the knee pain and building from the ground up. I have been watching all of your videos and they all align with PT plans I am getting from the ortho hospital rehab PT. I watch your vids for the information and most importantly because you spur me on to GET UP AND DO YOUR PT EXERCISES! I hope everyone knows they should be doing all of your exercises to PREVENT injuries as well. Thanks so much!
Dear Will. I have tried these physio exercises - which are so simple to do - and they have made such a difference. You’re very measured, confident and knowledgeable with all the advice you provide. Thank you, you’re great.
Your promise of 50percent is a bit inaccurate Will, for me anyway, I've been practicing this exercise for about a week - I've walked today about 1.5 miles and done some heavy shopping - the pain reduction was about 90 percent, by the time I got back, the pain was zero! Previous to this week , pain had been so bad I'd either have to cancel shopping or shop closer to my house. Robert Smith
Most knee issues stem from muscle imbalances, where the quadriceps are overly strong. Contrary to popular belief, it’s the glutes that need significant strengthening to counteract the uneven pressure exerted by the quads on the knee joint. Therefore, focus on the best glute exercises and continue them consistently and halt any form of quad building/stengthening
Having been struggling with inner knee pain for 2 years I am certainly going to give this ago.Already doing lots of your exercises which I have found very helpful.Thankyou.😊
Just found your channel and subscribed immediately. Clear explanations of why and when to do these activation moves and build up when ready. Excellent video.

I love it! 💯👍🙏 Work for me! Sort video easy to understand. This exercise for all ages. I am 70 and my knees very much hurt me , surprisingly after the very first exercises I could believe it this is possible??! My knees pain close to 💯gone!! Now ,I can’t wait to do tomorrow morning again! Thank you sooo much!🫶🫶🫶
Thank you by chance I did this yesterday, not realising the benefits and noticed that my usual knee stiffness disappeared. I will be doing this before exercise sessions. Thank you.
Just what I needed, thanks! I am sure weakness here caused a nasty fall years ago, when an ankle turned out and resulted in a significant knee injury that I never fully recovered from.
Did you hurt your hip and outside of your knee? I had a bad fall a month ago. My hip, knee and ankle got hurt really bad. My ankle I put a brace on and it is better. But I wake up screaming from the pain in my hip and the outside of my knee.
Impressive. I knew this was one exercise that really helped my knee pain. But it had never occured to me to tie it to actual walking in the immediate time frame. I did this last night and could walk much further and easier than before - one time! You can be sure I'll be doing it a lot more, thank you so much :-)
That was great to learn! I've been doing those leg exercises at work thinking I was working on the glutes, not the upper glutes, and not knowing it helps the knees. Thank you for the explanation and demonstration!
Will, thank you for your guidance.. I have had tons of PT in person and really appreciate your concise clear and doable suggestions…it has helped a lot!
Started doing this exercise to strengthen the glutes. Knees giving me problems since a month. Right knee won’t walk all after a long walk, so resting to get lmy knees walking again. Meniscus torn, almost no cartilage in both knees- 72. Any and all your advice and suggestions welcome and needed
I agree with Robert Smith's comment that 50% is a bit inaccurate, my knee pain is gone close to 100%, it also helped me understand my body a lil better - i now know that my glutes are weak and i need to strengthen that muscle group. I was suffering from knee/calf/ankle and foot pain since 3 months, and this exercise made them all go away!! I cannot thank HT Physio enough. Pls keep making such great videos, thank you again!!❤❤
That is absolutely fantastic to hear - what an amazing improvement! I'm so pleased to hear this has offered you such brilliant relief - keep up the great work 😃

I’m looking forward to testing this out over the next week. I’ve had knee issues since my dog smashed into the side of it when I was in my 30’s. It’s been X-rayed, had ultrasound etc and their best bed is some bone chip floating around. Problem is i started favouring it and it grew weaker, currently working with exercise physiologist to strengthen it and I’ll be adding this now now before exercising and walking. Fingers crossed

Wow, about 2 minutes of these resolved a knee twinge I've been having. Thank you! I will continue doing these to help wake up my glutes. Appreciate you explaining how to level up once stronger using the resistance band.
These are very similar to my rehab for sciatica two years ago. They work! Helped the bad knee on the other side at the same time. Advanced to light leg weights eventually. Always keep several bands in convenient places at home. Use them while waiting for appliances to cycle.
