Love the bonus learning material, i.e.: When/Why to choose a FET comp over a VCA (13:00 ...). So helpful!
Best review of this plugin. You always deliver, Mike.
Nice to see a review of this stuff by someone who's actually used the hardware version and knows what they're talking about.
Great information here. Thanks Michael on the tips on this but also just insight into how different circuits work and what's better to use on what source you're working with. Excellent! Thanks.
I had been using it on all the tracks on one song, this plugin did awesome job. It sounds clear and tight, a bit aggresive in a good terms (Not as aggresive as Neve in my opinion). You must give it a try!
It has a great sheen, really like a Neve console has. I have this strip in my bundle, but never used it to be honest. I'm pretty much an SSL guy. But now I heard it, I think it has some special features. Thanks Mike.
Great demonstration Mike! I've generally not been the biggest API fun but this sounds amazing to me and being able to switch modules really sets it apart from the others. Do you know if its possible to use the FET compressor in bypass but just to add the distortion characteristics? I believe this was a fairly common trick with the hardware on things like guitars.
Thanks for this Mike!
Cheers!
Actually, I preferred how the raw snare sounded to the processed one. But the plugin is good, and it was a nice demonstration of its sound after all.
great review and coool plugin!
Cheers!
Hi Mike, I would like to know which you would prefer in case you have pick just one between this 50 (api) vs 80 (Neve) Lindell channel strips emulations. Thanks a lot for all your videos!
Nice! Cant wait to test it
hi mike where could we download multitracks like the ones you use for your channel? :) ta!
Hello Mike! I love your content. On a side note, how did you get such clean esses, with no sign of sibilance?
Hi Mike. So, who is the band on this track? I think they sound great.
What song is that 2:49
Hey Michael could you do a review of the Arturia's 3 compressors? much love
I am interested in the DBX 165 emulation.
@@mixingwithmike thanks man, keep up the great work
Riff from the song totally sounds like Drain You from Nirvana
Hmmm...
If you had to choose between this and the softube api channel strip, which would you choose?
I’m wanting to know this too.
Def. THIS. As the purpose of using a channel strip is its cumulative effect using it on every channel of your project. You can do this without any problem as it's very CPU efficient plus the seperate group plugin is an additional bless if put on every stem channel. This is much more versatile as the softube 3EQ, 2 comps, additional group plugin. What a value. No second thought. This is the definite API strip for me :)
I really like the Softube version but this is hands down better sonically and also having the option with the FET comp and all 3 versions of the EQ.
@@mixingwithmike Mike how about the UAD?
seems to really narrow the width of the drums and it brings up some nasty low mids on the guitars.
I agree with it sounding like it narrows the sound
I think much of that is me learning it still. I put this together in one day after downloading it. It took me a couple of mix sessions with the 80 Series to really learn how to work it. There's an art to this one as well, but there are too many things to like to not dive into it more.
He was just adjusting the sound and sometimes overshooting. You have to dial a console it in to suit the tracks as well. It sounds pretty convincing to me. Nice plug
This vs the UAD api strip
I'd take this one because of the flexibility. That said, I do like the UA Vision strip.
Maybe plugin of the year?
A little early for that...
@@mixingwithmike yes of course. I would rate it as hot contender for that title in the end :) lindell is working on the API 2500 right now. Very excited :)
There are always several every year in recent years that wow people like this. It really does have an API vibe. I like....
I liked drum and bass without he plugin. The plugin kind of stifled the pulse of the track and killed the room.
I swallowed the room sound for sure, but that's on me, not the plugin
That guy is destine for Melodyne for eliminating his SSSSSSSSSSS
Nah. Sounds like a SM 7 B. The sibilance is smooooth
no. you don't get a nice growl out of it lol
Love your videos Mike, but this song sounds awful IMHO, specially the vocals.
Rock on!
Inter Merda. And this is cool song.
I dig this song.
