The moment Plugin Alliance released this one, I thought „Let‘s wait for Mike to review it“. ;)
Always the case for me!
same here :)
Cheers!
I actually click on the vid from PA web so that I could make that same comment on youtube. here you are!
I appreciate the THOROUGH breakdown of every control in this channel strip. It's like reading the manual without having to read the manual!
Lindell are very underrated for some reason. Thx for the vid !
Btw, I AM Shpongled
I agree!
Underrated by whom? Their reputation is stellar!
10:30 In contrast to the Lindell 80 series, the Neve, this preamp gain doesn't add a lot of transformer distortion, gives really nice analog tone but it is very clean 👌 The THD saturation is way more present that the gain one.
Best api review so far. Go Michael.
Thank you Mike another great overview.
Cheers!
Another great vid Mike, thanks!
Cheers!
Hey Mike. Thanks for going through all the features aspects. As not knowing too much about the original gear those videos are very interesting for me. I worked the T. Boone rock drums with it and the results are so vivid and authentic to the original source. What an amazing plugin. Have a great time. Cheers
Cheers!
This was worth watching to be able to understand how the Hysteresis feature works!
this is quite informative Mike, thanks for this !
Cheers!
Love this thing!!!
Me too!
Thanks for the video! What about internal side chain and high pass filter to make low frequency pass thru the compressor? It's not available in this console is it... ?
Great video, love the 80 chan, very exited about this one.
Me too!
@@mixingwithmike It was on sale today so I finally got it :)
Not surprised you like this on Mike. Has lots to offer it seems.
Yes, it does. Still feeling it out
So this is more of your go to, verses UAD’s version? I just got the Lindell 50
Any thing from Brain worx is Magic.! Best sounding API plugin on the market period.👌
Agreed!
i usually try to wait for sales for the PA stuff, but might have to pull the trigger on this one. love the api sound
Yea, it'll be a while before this one is on any kind of significant sale.
An AMAZING plugin! Compared with the bx_Focusrite on vocals and the SSL 4000E on drums. Did some listening vs the Lindell 80, too. Open in a way the Focusrite isn't and a sharper/detailed impact than the SSL E. Still working thru it, but incredibly impressed, especially since my only API EQs I have are the IK Multimedia units. Those are good, there isn't the sense of headroom or detail.
The flexibility and options here (with the TMT) and this is the API channel to beat.
Thanks for the review!
Cheers!
The bus on The API channel, u can use it individually for summing across the entire signal path. Very great sound.👌
Yes, I meant to make that part of the video, oops...
the buss sums more than one channel? how - I don't see that working
please i hope that make an SSL 4000 and 9000 with the same upsampling soon !
one thing that i'd love to see implemented is a ghost meter behind the input meter to keep track at what level i'm driving the input with the gain, these consoles usually sound the best when you drive them pretty hard, would be nice to be able to keep track of that, i'd love to see that also on the 80 series and their SSLs
great idea!
It actually would make much more sense. The preamp volume should be the measured by the input meters
Is it bad to record through this Lindell 50 plugin on the input
The API gate is the 235 !
Hmmm... that's a stretch but I guess it's the only option. There's no 500 series gate that I can find and too many features that are different from the 235.
Hello mike!! I’m looking for a great channel strip for Blues & jass &soul any Recommendations
This would be an excellent one for all of those styles
Hi Mike! regarding the input gain...I think this section is pretty weird. If this is really the INPUT section, shouldn't the compressor work harder the more you drive it without unity? Strange thing is: it doesn't. Something weird is going on here.
How does it compare to softube american class A?
Both are great, but if I had to chose only one, I would take the Lindel 50 Series
@@mixingwithmike what do you think about the Acoustica Audio pink 4? Is it worth getting?
I was hoping for a little history overview of the actual original API console, as you normally do.
For whatever reason, the history of API has been very difficult to research. What they have on the website is just dates and what gear they developed, almost nothing about the lines of consoles and how they were developed. Nobody else i have found seems to have documented it either. This plugin also seems to span a line of history from the late 60's to the early 2000's with the 2500 compressor added in.
@@mixingwithmike No worries my friend. I understand. Cheers.
No examples?
