I ride this a lot. I like the Lake County side a little more. It's really pretty from Vernon Hills, IL to Wisconsin.

Have you tried Mac-off lube? They are pretty good. The one for the dry conditions works as you described: lube, let it soak, wipe dry and it will not pick up any dirt and will work for 150-200 miles or even longer depending on conditions. The one for wet conditions is also good. I used it during Meltdown and it worked in mud surprisingly well

Thanks for showing us the trails. I’m riding on my trainer watching tv and it’s makes me think I’m riding. I will have to check out the trail this spring. Surprising they haven’t done something with that train crossing to make it easier to cross.

Nice Vid. How fast are you going? It looks like you are going well over 20mph.

I actually averaged around 17 mph for the most part, occasionally over 20 mph. It's not fun to be all sweaty in cold weather. 🥶

I enjoyed this video, I ride the Des Plaines River Trail regularly, last October I rode it all the way from Central Road in Des Plaines to the end of the trail at Russell Road. The trail is noticeably nicer once you cross Lake-Cook Road. I saw one of your other video on I&M Canal Trail from the Joliet to Peru, I haven't ridden that trail in years. Keep on biking! :)
Are you using a GoPro Camera to document these excursions?

Thank you for your comment! I'm planning a new DPRT ride from North Ave to Russell Rd and back. Yes I'm using GoPro.

Great video, thanks! DPRT is a jewel. Can I ask what model of gravel bike you have?

Scott Addict CX 20, I got lucky and picked it up last year for a good price!

I don’t know why I didn’t bother to look on you tube to find this trail lol all this time , I’ve been starting from elm wood park but when I go , trails are un passable due to flooding , that’s was fun , plan to take my all city space horse once it hits the 40s & have a go at it again, where exactly did you park your car ? Coming from oak park , thanks

I parked at Sunset Bridge Meadow parking lot on North Ave coming from Oak Park it will be on your right just before 1St Ave. Very nice ride but stays wet for a long time, I recommend getting on the trail north of the airport to avoid mud.

What gps do you use on your ride. I’m looking to get something better then what I have. (Cat eye)

Wahoo Roam, little pricey but it survived all my mountain bike crashes! :-)
