Motorist are the biggest problem. Illinois hands out driver license too easily. Increase the difficulty (NOT THE COST) to get a drives license. Increase moving violation penalties. Strictly enforce driving laws. Then we can talk potholes and bike lanes.

Bike lanes should be inherently safe. You're just used to bad street design

@@captainkirk3000 If the bike lane isn't entirely isolated from vehicle traffic bikers are still at risk of carless/reckless drivers. Here in Chicago there are very few protected bike lanes. Even if all the bike lanes were protected, intersections are not. Better design wound help. But better drivers would do more for safety, for everyone.

Lower speed limits and camera enforcement at all intersections.

These stupid lanes have caused gridlock traffic in our streets! The people that want this are a fringe, why doesn't the city put this up for a vote? I bet the majority of working people that have to travel in these congested streets don't want to deal with these lanes 🙄

The more we encourage people to bike and take alternate transportation, the less congested the roads will be

    • @Shelspark

@@InOtherNews1 they will be less congested if we had more lanes, smart lights, and cyclists rode on the sidewalks where they belong! Also, for more than half the year we have cold weather, not everyone wants to be riding a bike and catching a flu riding in the rain or snow! If you want to get sick and eat bugs while riding your stupid bike that's your choice, but don't force feed this crap on the rest of society!! We are sick of you "15-minute city" activists shoving this 2030 WEF agenda down our throats! This isn't China, Barcelona, or England! If you want to live in a hell hole where you don't have the freedom to drive and have to pay "congestion tolls" to mother government, then move to one of those places!

Are you dumb? The more alternative forms of transportation there are, the faster EVERYONE'S trips will be because there are fewer cars on the road! You should be encouraging the hell out of these initiatives.

If I pay for a bike path, I don't want cars on it, that is what destroys the road... that's why you pay to use it, and why bikes will only have to pay once...
besides the $850 billion in social harm and damage and 40k killed every year from car accidents... that's right, $850 billion... worse than any 10 major US natural disasters... every year... not bicycles... that's why you have insurance, because anything within 100 yards of concrete will most likely be smashed into by a vehicle... not a bicycle...
besides, besides, Colonel Pope, founder of Columbia bicycles, introduced and funded The Good Roads Act... for the very roads you use.
