I make a good living and I've purchased 2 to 3 fragrances a month. I literally went 3 months without buying anything because i believed that i had a problem. That said, i enjoy the hobby, and i enjoy watching fragrances videos. It's one of the few things that i can watch that hasn't been injected with politics.
Yes.I hear you loud and clear. I'm sure I have almost 300 fragrances and backups and the buck has to stop here. It is completely a high and an addiction, especially when you are thriving on whats next instead of what you just got, and the thrill of the next mail delivery.
This is so me. I go from one addiction product to another. Purses, shoes, clothes, perfume, hair, makeup. Yes I can afford these habits, so I can’t imagine going broke doing any of them, but I know I have a problem, but because I’m not suffering any consequences I cannot and admittedly will not reign myself in. I just tell myself I would stop if I had to… I hope.
@@LotsofLisa overconsumption is a negative thing for multiple reasons, it's quite a difficult to explain in couple sentences. But if when you consistently buy those things are you happy with them in a long term or they just a 15 minutes excitement which remains unused on the shelves afterwards
I hear you girly and you are right! I have a video like this on my channel. I woke up one day and decided I don’t want to make room for anything else. I was extremely overwhelmed. Like wait how did I get here? I’ve been decluttering like crazy. I still review perfumes I purchase , which I significantly cut back on, but I never tell my subs they NEED Anything. That’s very important to me because ppl will literally run with what you say. Ppl are trying to fill voids myself included. It’s like we are looking for our next (purchase high). Not realizing the void will never be filled because material things can’t fix what’s inside. Consequently I had to take a hard look at what I was participating in. I have become very mindful of the monetary motives of others and how I show up on my channel. You do not always need more. We have to change our mindsets & learn to be content with what we have. Especially in these days and times. I now focus on loving what I have and truly enjoy. Be blessed❤
Thank you dear for such a thoughtful and beautiful feedback 🤗 we need to make a change, I can't watch those videos were someone tells you how much do you need to buy something with their promocode, this situation is ridiculous and toxic 🤦🏼♀️ Im borderline to declutter too, people don't need that much
No bull, your right, but people have to take accountability for their own actions. I just got an Initio cologne in the mail today with 4 samples and on top of that, bought a Xerjoff cologne today online, so I get it. I take accountability for my habits and have self-control. If you have an addictive personality, it doesn't matter if it's fragrances or another hobby, the debt and addiction will continue with whatever product they chose.🤷♂
@@upsetuloss It's called influencer for a reason. To influence ones decision. To provoke a reaction. To prompt consumerism. To influence the most accountable person. Why has perfume prices surge?
This is why I purchase samples . If something sounds that intriguing I can find it in a decant site and only if I finish every drop of the sample and I’m still thinking about it I will consider purchasing a bottle . I absolutely love perfume , but having an arsenal of like 20 instead of 200, 400+ , that I’m absolutely in love with is the way for me . One can actually enjoy and finish them this way . I get the fun of smelling something new , it’s exciting, but just get samples , I honestly hate 90% of what I smell , maybe it’s good to be picky in this game .
@@LotsofLisa that would be a pure scam. In normal brands t's the same juice, but perception of it is physically different. I had couple days ago quite opposite situation, I had a feeling that sample is way less potent than actual bottle because I tested both multiple times
You are 100% right. I recently clicked on a recommended video from a youtuber I used to watch in 2020 - she was complaining about spending "soooo much" money on perfumes but only 3 were bought with her own money and the rest were of course sent to her and she had promo codes. These youtubers don't even see what HYPOCRITES they are! Urging viewers to buy more and more, calling fragrances "to die for" which leads to blind-buying yet they themselves are upset when they actually have to PAY for a fragrance. LOL. It's pathetic. I really hope she sees your video because she and manyyyy others have become perfume sellers and not reviewers/people with a passion. Their desperation to sell these perfumes is so obvious, it's hard to watch. I don't even understand why people fall for it anymore. It's really sad. And all the "clones/dupes" they review because it's "their job" looool- I bought like 3 super hyped clones and they were just nasty, awful synthetic chemical smells. I'm glad you made this video and I hope it will make some youtubers grow a conscience. Take care!
I have my own suspicion about who is that comment, but it's not Gabi. I think Gabi was one of the first people I started to watch on perfume UA-cam, have nothing but good to say about her. All thought I just saw her briefly on Exsence, Im quite convinced she's a lovely human being. This is normal that we all have our own taste, anyway better than not having it at all🤣
Totally agree. Influencers who are paid to promote fragrances often lose credibility imo, and I find it hard to trust reviews driven by sponsorships. Thankfully, I’m not easily influenced. I'm quite strong minded and ONLY buy what I need. I’m financially stable with a comfortable amount in savings, own my house. I'm sharing this as I want to show people you can do it too - its never too late. I can’t justify spending hundreds on one perfume. It's extortionate! By all means, treat yourself to a nice designer bag (I do) and a nice high end perfume once in a while but dont fall for the hype as Its only momentary. I absolutely LOVE fragrances and enjoy smelling good, and I regularly receive compliments on the ones I wear. My collection includes a few high-end scents and some affordable Arabian perfumes which I've discovered recently that offer excellent projection without breaking the bank. I’ve intentionally kept my collection small (15 ish) as owning too many would mean I’d never use them all, leaving them to gather dust. It's pointless to own excessive amounts to just look pretty on your dresser. It’s important to curb unnecessary spending and not fall to influencer traps. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself but know when to stop. We should focus on using and finishing what we already own before purchasing the next best thing. I’ve seen people fall into debt chasing the next “must-have” product or perfume, only to regret it later. Social media, while a powerful platform for generating income, it's also a dangerous place for those who need the next hit/fix to feed their addiction for a momentary high. Remember, the influencer reviews are not for your benefit but to benefit their pockets. Wishing everyone the best and let's all spread the word not to fall into the influencer trap. 😅❤
Ive definately become a victim to "Fragrance Addiction" while I cannot blame fragrance influencers for this, I have to be honest and say that most of them make me feel like "I NEED" a fragrance! I've amassed over 50+ fragrances in a six month period. When I have a moment of clarity, I feel ashamed and ridiculous tbh. I became sober from drugs 2 years ago, and feel like ive traded one addiction for another. And its definately effecting my pocket... Thank you for reminding me, I need to make a clean break and cut my fragrance reviewer subs (Way Down), but as for this channel.. Sunscribed😊. Ty
Today, i was actually at a store looking at colognes, and a random guy started recommending me some. I told him i was looking for a specific one because i already have too many. He asked how many i said about 30, and he laughed and boasted about having over 200. That's way too many, and you can't even enjoy the ones you really like because he has so many.
I bought 15 of them at one time and got massive headache. Intoxication of chemical cheap smell🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ sold everything right away, don't need this crap on my shelves
@@YourScentBae yes and the majority of them smells just like chemicals in my opinion. To save my finances i Always prefer to buy from local brands, i'm from Italy and we have a lot of High quality perfumery brands that costs around 50 euros(and even less). Of couse the majority of them are not intro the influencer marketing.
@@_la_si_7170 ohhh Italy is a perfume paradise, month ago I ordered something from Sicily - one of the most unique and best smelling perfume I ever tried
It’s really strange to me just how much trust people put into the opinions of these influencers. Not to mention the fierce loyalty they have for them. If you speak critically of an influencer you get people that come to their defense like they’re members of their family. In reality, this is because they don’t want to come to the realization they’re letting a stranger cause them to spend money they don’t have on perfumes they don’t use.
This is the video that people need to watch. I have an addiction to fragrances and have close to 200 in my collection. However, they are all my own decisions based on trying them on skin. Of course I do look at videos on UA-cam but I pay more attention to the comments than the video. I find the real inputs from users in the comments. Great video !
Love your video! I really appreciate your honesty. Yes, the influencers are a very big part of the problem. What is as annoying as them pushing products are the big designer houses that launch 20 perfumes a year, mostly variations on older perfumes (take Olympea or La Vie est Belle, for instance). Are they that money hungry?? And maybe I would cut them some slack if the new launches would be inspired and well crafted, but many of them are just average or even boring! I do not blame people for wanting clones. I understand the motivation. When the enormously famous Baccarat Rouge costs over 200 $ a small bottle (i admit: I don't even know the real price, but I know MFKs are really expensive), but you really like it and long to own a bottle, you make a compromise and try a clone. It doesn't mean it's ethical, but it's a problem which was created by the designer houses themselves, let's be honest! They push some insanely marked-up prices, especially lately, and then they expect average people to spend 200 or 300 dollars on a small perfume bottle!! Of course they have contributed to the creation of the clones market. I'm not saying that perfumers do.not deserve to be compensated for their work. Of course they should be!! But we know that designer houses are desperate for profit and rack up prices.
Perfect! Finally, someone speaking the truth. Thank you. I spent $10,000 in 12 months in 2022, and whilst I love most of the fragrances I bought, the truth is that 90% of them I did not need. Since then, (2022) I have stopped buying perfumes, but I must admit that not only was it an addiction that was near impossible to overcome, but also one which is embarrassing to admit to. Thank you, Your Scent Bae! Problem is: now we're addicted to you!
I love how fragrance transforms my personality. That’s the reason I purchase them. What I have noticed along the years is that many fragrance houses have similar scent. So if I have a perfume that smells like initio musk therapy I will not add nothing else that smells similar. I only buy fragrances that are unique. I been wearing fragrances since I was 8 years old… baby soft being my first. What has worked for me when I have the urge of buying a new fragrance, I revisit the ones on my shelves and then that takes my mind off wanting to buy. Also I did have the experience of buying a fragrance that was a dupe “supposedly” and smelled nothing like the original. Ever since I don’t buy any recommendations from this particular reviewer because it was not an honest opinion. I learned my lesson.
I stopped at 5 fragrances . Not sure how ppl have hundreds of thousands. I do believe it’s easy to buy excess but just keep it at 5 or below and you’re good. Just tell yourself you don’t need many and be content with a small but elite collection. Know what you like and keep those few that check those boxes.
@@YourScentBae thing is if you smell a lot of fragrances you’ve smelled them all in a sense . You have your fresh , your sweet fragrances , musky. How many of them do you actually need to smell before deciding on a few . It’s fun smelling them but you don’t need them either is the thing .
I’m disappointed with Macy’s fragrance department & the brands they promote (Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier). Poor treatment of employees, toxic practices, & mass-produced products. This holiday, shop small & support ethical brands on Etsy or local shops. 💔 #ShopSmall #FragranceWithIntegrity #SupportEthicalBrands
Honestly? Proud of you AF 👏 I felt for this hype and bought 15 (!) arab perfumes and hated all of them. Never again 🚩🚩🚩 50 frags in quality will always worth more than 1000 of those dupes and cheap 💩
@@YourScentBae thanks 😀 used to own 120 bottles but I realized most smelled similar so I sold most and kept the ones I really like . Even 50 is kind of a lot 😩 but at least now I don’t get anxiety when i try to choose my scent of the day. My plan is to cut down to 20 eventually .so I only have 5 perfumes for each season
This is a very important video that you did fantastic. Thank you! Personally, I really do not get the whole cheap middle eastern dupe trend, and I cannot agree more with you about the part that the influencers are "destroying" small niche brands. Every cheap dupe I've ever smelled was underwhelming to me. Most of the time a dupe is without complexity and it can be the same at the opening and then it stays one dimensional. I rather enjoy trying perfumes through samples or travel sizes. Usually that is enough for me.
Thank you dear for your feedback 🤗 Arab perfumes trend is because they sponsor bloggers and because it's cheaper and people buy more with affiliate links and promocodes
@@YourScentBaeyes, you are right! I rather stay away from buying cheaper perfumes and justifying that because they are cheap. You end up with several perfumes you don't like at the end and not buying that one you want because it is expensive. And that argument "they are only... and it doesn't matter" I can hear very often in videos.
Instant sub babe , I love your passion and transparency on this topic . I love smaller fragrance channels that are honest and unique. Not that I hope you stay small !!! Not at all , more genuine people like you deserve that level ❤
You said you get hundreds of heartbreaking comments, then flashed a ton of comments way too fast for any human to read and a rate difficult to pause. Well, I carefully read all of them. Only TWO were a *bit* sad and certainly not even remotely close to heartbreaking. I also have to say the of the people I follow, most regularly point to their collection and say “this isn’t normal. I only have so many because of this channel.” I hate to say it, but it feels like you’re trying to get views for saying something “controversial.” That thing with the comments really bugged me because it felt totally…false. I’m sure some aspect of your video is sincere, but really bugged me. I can’t trust your content. And it’s not like no one else out there is talking about this. I’ve seen at least five other videos pop up in my feed on the topic over the last two months. I’m also not saying it isn’t a problem for people. People have all kinds of shopping addictions. This isn’t unique to perfume or perfume influencers by any means.
Okay, let's break it down 1. Comments. You can go straight to my video and check what people wrote there, there's literally over 1k different comments. I can agree only on the point that I didn't brought out only the worst ones. If you read it so carefully you would see that people for real sharing their stories about spending all their money on perfumes. 2. Controversial? So you didn't got than a single world I said in this video. Not sincere? Have you watch this video for real or you judge first 2 minutes?? 3. You can't trust my content. So don't, make your own analysis, filter information, use your one research source, make YOUR OWN POINT 4. Many people film about that. Who? Name me at least one popular perfume influencer who talk about that and care at least a bit about what they do and how they influence others for overconsumption. I don't care about social topics related content creators, they film about everything. Name me ONE perfume influencer who raised awareness past at least year, not even saying months. And last one - if you find my video fake and not sincere because you just feel different about this topic, just block my channel so it will never appear for you. Easy like that. I made my message clear about what I feel, what I think and what I want to be done. If you don't see any problem in that I see! I work in perfume industry, I see it daily from the inside and I know that some things should be changed and I will keep talking about that. So no, my content is not for you, please go where you belong. It's not an objective criticism, it's an attempt to sabotage my good intentions and I will not let you.
@@mortviolette284 I forgot to add - attract views? Perfect. This is how people finally can hear something besides how urgently they have to spend 500$ for more mediocre frags influencers are desperate to sell them. So Im fine with that too, you can keep accusing me in whatever. I would not say that it doesn't piss me off but at least I don't take it seriously, because it's bulls
The Curlys and RMRS etc. have clued me into fragrances that I have tried in person and liked and bought. This issue also applies to whiskey and bartender UA-camrs, which I have sometimes followed and purchased bottles that I didn’t like without tasting them first. Just need to be careful with taste and scent that can’t be communicated electronically (yet!)
I Agee with you 100% , In my opinion examples Paulina, Demmi, SHerida, Monica c, Juice the Rose, Greta B and so many others and really then you see them going to Paris and several I other beautiful places, basically we are jobs to them, that is how they own their Money.
I have nothing against people who support and develop perfume industry, it's a beautiful thing to do, they totally deserved to be paid for their work, and but they should inspire people and not push and overwhelm🙌💞
I love watching fragrance videos and I try not to let influencers “influence” me because at the end of the day, I understand that this is their job and the more subscribers they have, the more companies will send them PR packages. I do wish they would be more transparent if the perfume they recommend came from a PR package or they bought it with their own money. I always ask myself before I buy a fragrance “do I want this perfume as a status symbol or do I actually like it?” And that makes me see things from a different point of view. I come to the conclusion that I would rather buy decants or discovery sets in order to sample fragrances before purchasing a 50 or 100ml bottle 😊
Love your honesty, there are people who need validation through perfumes or wearing expensive clothes and forget what really matters. So these creators try to attract them. If you earn enough, of course, you can afford them. But if you are a normal guy, you just need common sense to pick the perfect perfume without wasting a lot of money. On the other side, social media is a platform, where big companies promote their products and pay influencers to promote them.
This perfume madness went out of the hand.... Another day in a real life I heard a guy near the cashier asking his friend to transfer him 30€ so he can buy 2 perfumes instead of 1, because now he has on his account only 130€ before salary arrives so he needs to borrow. It was one week before standard payday..... Speechless
It's true. I started collecting perfumes before UA-cam existed, but I did start watching a few fragrance channels a few years ago, thinking they were just as into fragrance and the history as I was... I was so impressed with a certain influencer's amazing collection, I thought he had to be independently wealthy. Or he inherited money or something and he just happened to love perfume. After about 2 years of watching this guy, he kind of slipped up during one livestream and admitted different companies had given him most of the fragrances he was raving about! I don't know why I didn't figure it out before that moment, but I was genuinely shocked. And sad. I unsubscribed. Now, it all seems so obvious. Sponsors, special relationships, and of course influencers are sent perfumes by the company. And that's life. I just want the influencers to admit it. Like you say, to be transparent.
I agree, especially when they get sponsored things change. I guess they need specific number of people buying to keep sponsors and attract more. I just hate being mislead. Just say that we should smell the scent or get a sample not run and get this… not saying it’s a must have. We all like different scents just because you like it doesn’t indicate that I will like it.
Especially when they like everything they smell 🤣🤣🤣 this I don't get at all like how is this even possible, or am I the only picky person in the entire world 🤣😭🤣
I think this is an important video. If you listen closely, every now and then, you'll hear an influencer say "i liked this one so much I bought it with my own money." 😆 For the rest of us we're buying ALL of them with our own money. That's where the disconnect comes in. Influencers get excited by fragrance and I get it, think most genuinely want to share their passion and provide some kind of helpful advice. But consumerism and over consumption in general is a problem. People want to try, then they buy ... and buy, before you know it you have too much stuff you don't want and you don't need. Stay vigilant people!❤
I absolutely agree with the influencing and over consumption of products BUT I have bought some clones of perfumes that i honestly enjoy better than their inspiration 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of these comments sound more like they’re upset that poor people are trying to smell rich
Another perspective: not everyone enters the fragrance world at the same time/pace. The thousands of different tastes and and skin chemistry. Not the mention these countless fragrances that get discontinued/reformulated. When you take all that into consideration theres really an endless amount of reasons for influencers to consistently purchase advertise as long as you do so responsibly, i think.
Enjoyed! Some great points. Need to say, it's an additional motivation to recommend a fragrance in the partnership with a great brand and as a content creator I don't think it's wrong to earn commissions from sales,if it's always from heart, different question.
I had a quick burst of the perfume addiction for a time. Eventually i relaxed about it and realized i have some genuine favorites that last for a good time on a quality buy, a perfume you genuinely love. ❤
I don't mind e-commerce of fragrances. If they wanna make money...let 'em. I just don't need to be lied to. For example, I bought H24 Herbes Vives from Hermes...and all the UA-cam fragrance influencers were praising it. Lol, I sprayed that stuff and it smelled like a homeless dude playing in the grass all day. I definitely should have sampled it, first. Anyway, there is no way that I'm the only one that think this fragrance smells like a bum. Not one influencer I saw had anything bad to say about H24 Herbes Vives. As for people's finances, that's on the individual. You can't blame the fragrance influencers for that. It's not their job to watch your wallet. It just sucks that they always try to heavily promote the expensive ones. The average person can afford to buy Creed Aventus every month. At the end of the day, there are good UA-cam fragrance channels and there are a lot of bad ones. I approve your message, though. People do need to slow down and gather themselves before blindly following these influencers.
That's the point dear, everyone are allowed to make money the way they want but public figures should be more responsible for their words and actions 🤗
@@YourScentBaeI agree. They don’t “care” if they are making their subscribers broke or in debt, because truth be told that “influencer” wouldn’t even BE in the position she’s in if it wasn’t for her subscribers. So I’m sorry, it is just as much the “influencers” fault as it is the consumer. They’re advertising 400$ fragrances that are GIFTED TO THEM and offering some measly ass code 10/20/30% off a 400$ fragrance and that does WHAT? You’re still paying hundreds of dollars for it when it was FREE for them the whole time and that’s not right! They know it too!
I try and remind myself there's only so many days in a year, say you have 60 perfumes, And you wear a different perfume every day, that means your only going to use a perfume 6 times! Thats nuts. 😂
I'm noticing a lot of people lie and say they were sent fragrances from a company. Someone with less than 5 thousand subscribers showed a victor a rolf box with 4 100ml perfumes and said it was "sent in PR"....like come on
There's a point that people don't realize, and it's the fact that reviewers are not chemists. To truly review a fragance you need to know the raw materials used to manufacture the fragance, and the chemical proportion that the raw material is part of the fragance formula. They only talk about PERSONAL FEELINGS when they try a fragance, but they can never give an objective opinion to you, because they know nothing about the formulation.
There is no such think as an objective opinion on a darn scent ..what is the chemist going to tell ? People aren't buying perfumes because they are interested in their chemical makeup
@@farahjichi4617 to be honest there's no such thing as objective opinion on fragrance, it's all subjective because we all have different sense of smell

@YourScentBae Just because you can create something doesn’t mean you have a better aesthetic perception of it, as shown by the fact that perfumers often have widely varying preferences and styles and produce widely different scents Your comparison to a doctor is a false equivalence-it’s more like saying a doctor would be better at describing the pain and suffering of having cancer. A doctor's job is literally to cure you, but it's not a perfumers skill to describe how a perfume smell . They are chemists, not sniffers with objective noses I agree that you shouldn’t automatically buy into the hype and adopt someone else’s opinion because perfume is highly subjective. However, people enjoy reading perfume reviews because they’re curious about how a scent smells to others, especially common people
a lot of these fragrance youtubers (influencers) are being directly sponsored by a certain fragrance companies. which is why you will here them hype up a certain frag so much, and that frag is always on their top 10 listings , its ridiculous
Is it just me or most famous perfumes smell just like normal basic perfumes ? I smelled some yesterday they weren't even like how fragrance ytbers described them most famous designer fragrance smelled very normal perfumey type only with a very slight note difference with each other which you can only pick up if you smell carefully
Designer ones? Totally. I bare can find 10 out 1000000 of them which smell different and unique enough to buy it. This is the reason why I couldn't find a perfume for myself for years of my life. Now Im very dedicated to niche only
I found the line that works for me for everyday use and bought the whole line from eau fraiche to elixir and this is all i need for year round to feel more confident, strong and ready for everyday challenges
I know the influences that doing this I used to follow this girl two years ago during Covid and she was all about designer recently. She’s just changing. It’s all about niche and it’s not the niche that that I knew she would like to wear.
Those promo codes are problematic. They are promoting the grey market. There’s no 100% on paper proof the sites sell legitimate products. Legitimately the only appropriate site to link to is the official manufacturer. It can backfire pretty hard. I just don’t link to anything if anyone asks where to get an Amouage I’d tell them from Amouage. Why take any risk when you love the video creation process?
That's so true, I always recommend only official websites. The only exception is Byron, I had horrible experience with their website, so definitely never again 🚩
I don’t disagree with you, but I think one other area that maybe you can explore is that not only influencers are trying to sell things to us, but the brands themselves? They can see that perfumes is the new makeup and people are spending more and so they’re releasing more. Lorenzo Pazzaglia would be an exception to the rule. Not every house releases masterpieces anymore, most of the time it’s just a quick cash grab for them. I saw new makeup brands popping out every 2 weeks and we’re seeing the same with indie perfume brands now. If we look back and check what happened to those makeup brands …. well, just wait until this perfume bubble bursts and the same will happen again in this space.
Wow. I just realized im getting addicted. I just bought 4 last week and 9 more 2 days ago. I do love perfume, but i see it gets out of control fast. I have over 30 in 2 months. Need to remove alot of subscriptions. Out of sight of out of mind. Thanks❤

Maybe it is because I am older, but I don’t blame anyone else for my weaknesses or impulses, whether it be buying perfumes, purses, clothing, shoes or whatever. There used to be a comedian named Flip Wilson who used to say “the devil made me do it”. The truth is, we are each responsible to know our own budgets, and to stick to those budgets. It is okay to love something, but use common sense. So, if you REALLY want a certain high end perfume, or anything, really, but it doesn’t fit your budget, maybe save up for it. Or, you can sell something you don’t use and put it towards that item you want. Work for it. That will make it so much more special when you finally acquire it. We are not helpless children. We can reason with ourselves and be responsible for our own actions, and not say “the devil made me do it”. No. I made me do it. Me! It is a combination of, common sense, self control, and personal responsibility. I have no problem with people making money as influencers. It is up to each of us not to fall for every temptation that passes by our eyes, ears and noses. Those with addictive personalities might need extra help overcoming impulses, and that is okay. I think one person below hit on a really important point, which is that sometimes we use THINGS to fill a void within ourselves. Understanding that can be very freeing. This is not a criticism of this video or anyone, just some things I have learned over many years.
Im not sure to which comment you are referring too, because for me they appear in different order, but anyway I don't see any criticism in your words, I wasn't even thinking that you are telling me personally something, it's sounds more like your additional conclusion to the topic, which partly highlights exactly what I said about - people should be more responsible for their doings and it's very thoughtful of you to dedicate your time and go into depth on this explanation, I appreciate. But if you meant it personal, oh well let it be on your consciousness 🤷♀️
You won't be able to have a signature scent if you wear too many perfume. Also i started buying the smaller bottles because 30ml is a lot tbh. And... the best thing is my natural scent out of the shower with deodorant. Smelling like nothing is the sexiest thing to me
I have definitely cut back and watching my coins. I even paused Scentbird. I have enough perfume with about 40 full sized bottles. I need to keep focus.
You go girl. It's been getting on my nerves. Why these influencers are encouraging viewers to build a collection of 100, 300 fragrances. Or even worse. A youtube fragrance influencer with over 400 bottles say that they want to buy a fragrance that they had just smelled on a friend at a gathering a few days ago 😮. Am like what the heck is this? Never satisfied?
It's like a real addiction when you smell something once, buying it right away and never wear it again.... If you have over 400 perfumes it's even impossible to use all just one time in a year. And the problem is that real wearing expirience comes though time and seasons🤦🏼♀️
@@YourScentBae I commend you.👏👏👏 It takes a lot for one to stand up against this outbreak. You try to fill a void but that void never gets filled. So on the circle goes. 😔
While I do think there's definitely something to be said about influencers and content creators pushing things for profit in the ways they do, I think we have to be much more focused on the personal responsibility that we all have to ourselves as adults which is where the vast majority of the accountability lies. These influencers can push as aggressively as they want to. But at the end of the day, no one has a gun to my head forcing me to buy anything so I simply don't. Especially if I haven't sampled it for myself, or worse, I can't afford it. And in the case of those who are suffering from varying forms of addiction, unfortunately the entire world simply cannot cater to that. Alcoholics exist and if they're intent on improving their life for their sake, they must make the decision to either find ways to engage with alcohol responsibly or just quit drinking it altogether if that's what it takes. It's easier said than done of course, but those really are the only options. But ultimately alcohol will never stop being sold. It's up to each individual adult to use it responsibly. Bakeries and fast food restaurants aren't shutting down for the sake of those with sugar and food addictions. Fragrance consumption is no different. I truly don't mean to sound insensitive and I do apologize in advance if this comment is read that way, but influencers aren't the root of this issue in my opinion. They might be the branches and the flowers of the hyper capitalist and consumerist tree, but they're not the root. Many people who find themselves in the midst of shopping addiction are usually struggling with other unresolved issues. Grief, stress, depression, and anxiety are just a few that are capable of putting people in a place where they may seek out things like shopping for the instant dopamine hit that their brains may be struggling to create organically. If we all woke up tomorrow and influencers no longer existed, I guarantee those people would still be buying compulsively and spending irresponsibly to their detriment because the root of the issue hasn't been resolved. I think videos like this are great in helping those struggling to see that they're not alone and what they're going through isn't normal/should be changed. However, I do think it's important that the focus be largely on us as consumers and what we can and should be doing differently to be more responsible because ultimately we can only control our own behaviors. And I feel like being more responsible involves those people buying less period, not necessarily buying niche fragrances like you seem to be suggesting...? So I was kind of lost at that sentiment seemingly being the conclusion of your video honestly.
Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful comment ☺️ I will start with an answer to your final question and I guess you missed that part in the very beginning when I mentioned that Im not buying anymore and checked on folks if they do the same. In my previous video I said that I will not buy things as long as possible. About buying niche - I work in this industry and truly do not recommend spending money on designer ones because you pay 99.99% for name on the bottle, this is why I encourage to support small niche and indie companies. What else.... I don't think there's something else to add, besides that you made a great additional point about capitalism. All though if we will not take ethical aspect in this field who are we buy the end, a vending machines?
So true, just like mine games queening. They made it so high to a point that i thought i needed it. I bought it and smelled just like Escapade gourmande 😢 now that i list to your video, i'm about to return it. Believe it or not, i do not need it. Thx i can afford it, but i do not need it.
I can clearly see what are you talking about when people trying to describe perfumes as different as possible avoiding to admit that those are almost identical copies. That happens so often nowadays
A similar example is Curly promoting SBoy. I used to love her videos, but she lost all credibility to me after aggressively promoting it MULTIPLE times, because shes getting payed
I love her energy and personality, but I’ve actually used her and her bf’s recs as things to stay away from bc I seemingly have opposite taste lol , but I enjoy her vibe and when she gets together with others and smells things 😂
oh trust, in a year or two, you will be known in the fragrance community with HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS, maybe even million+ subs. your style, presentation, and video quality are all already there. Just one or two, or a few more viral vids from blowing up. I just hope your mindset stays the same, just like in this video. Because, like those other big fragrance reviewers, you too will be getting tons of offers of sponsorships (a stream of income for you), many new expense FREE fragrances for you to review/"promote" ... just beware
So true ive been saying all this in the comments on there videos daily for years and they never clap back lol im succeptible to falling for there lies because im really fussy with fragrances and i have an addictive personality so i have over 1000 dollars in samples i didnt even like lol im a guy so i get all my reccomendations from gents scents, chaos fragrances, curly fragrances, jeremy fragrance etc, bunch of sellouts for sure
I think Im quite close to same $$ amount with samples, make even more ... In full bottles which I blind bought Im scared to calculate. But at least 30 bottles I decluttered because I didn't liked them at all but influencers were praising them
That’s why I’m tight with my money and I usually would buy these perfume secondhand and anyway I never buy retail that’s what vinted is for😂. Unfortunately some people get influenced by packaging and other peoples ranting and Raven.
Mecari how are you! lol mecari saved my life with perfume buying! I NEVER pay full retail for a fragrance anymore and I don’t mind owning second hand at all’
Am I the only one who joins a fragrance group on social just so I can find out what are the latest flankers and not but them for myself? I wouldn't wanna smell the same way as any other collectors. I know I sound like a pick me girl/boy but that's how I do it. I would usually buy the flankers as well when no one's talking about them anymore. Lol. I usually go the other way.
We all have different approach to this I guess. Yes, might be that majority buy from recommendations, some tho buy everything new, others - everything with particular notes, others hunt for discontinued perfumes. Me personally, Im probably everything, I just love to discover different things and of course curious about whats doing on in the fragrance world. Instead of analysing if you are a pickme person just do what you like, by the end of the day noone really cares about others, of course there always be rumours, but if you do thing sincerely that's the only thing that matters 🫶
@@YourScentBae yes...the way I purchase stuff are based on my mood and the fragrance family I love. Also the memories that are preserved in particular scents. I even have my sister's Avon perfume from ten years ago and I keep them because it has a story to tell. It was her favourite. Reminds me of the times when we hang out to the mall every weekend when I was a teenager. I also have boxes of perfumes from my loved ones I keep both cheap and expensive ones. I buy for myself so I don't go out my way to buy the new JPG or Dior. Probably based on your psyche on how you choose. I myself is picky. I want my perfume to tell a story that sends me to a different place and time.
I bought a rasasi hawas ice on Thursday. It was i don't even know. It's so bad, not to mention that it's expensive. Atleast it was my 2nd cologne and I'm stopping. My 1st one was a Boss bottled elixir i bought last month Atleast that one i physically walked into a shop and bought it and i absolutely love it. I'm done with UA-cam influencers...Atleast i wasted R1275.00😢
The most obvious if you pay close attention, those influencers they love all perfume no matter what the perfume are. I don't think that's a good sign, because just look at your own self, you can't love all perfume. We have our own standard, but them ? No matter what, all perfume smells good to them. Eros, sauvage, jpg, fresh, citrus, warm, spicy, no matter what. Even if we just cover let say a fresh scent, there ain't no way we love all fresh scent some fresh just trash to our noses. If we just cover a citrus scent, there also ain't no way our noses love all citruses cause some citrus also just trash to our noses it's uncountable how many citrus fragrance out there even you are a citrus fanatic, it's just impossible to love all citruses. But them ??? They love all scent that they smelled, i mean all type, all citrus all fresh all warm all gourmand all woody all spicy scent no matter what kind of it as long as it has scent and called perfume and they describe it with such a passion note per note, it's crazy. They made people buy it, they describe it in such a positive alluring way. They have no standard, can't trust all their taste. A lot of people bought a fragrance out of hyped, hyped up by influencers.
If you are going broke because you have no self control then that's your fault and not the influencers fault imo. While I do agree some of the titles of the videos are ridiculous "Top panty droppers" or "Make you look more attractive to her" etc.. you should at least sample first in a store or online and wear it for a couple weeks to see if it works for you. No fragrances can make you look sexier or more attractive, richer etc...that's just ridiculous.... but it can enhance your outfit or make you feel great which can make you look more attractive. You have to have a personality, good communication skills and dress sense in the first place. At the end of the day, no one complains when Nike or adidas advertise their clothing line or trainers so it's up to the consumer to be more responsible with their purchases
@@Snedz496 the entire point is that Adidas make it official commercial and the "influencers" paying relatable girl/boy from the neighbourhood to gain trust and represent pr perfumes as haul. I don't think it's honest
@@YourScentBae I wasn't disagreeing with you entirely, I was just making the point that bigger companies do pay celebrities to advertise their brands however I do agree with you that there is some (not all) influencers that hype a fragrance up they got sent to them. At the end of the day, you should always test out a fragrance for a full week to see if it suits you and works with your skin chemistry not blind buy things based on their recommendations. Just wear what fragrance you like with confidence
@@Snedz496 sure, I got your point, just wish people that we trust here would be more transparent with their sponsorships and would not say that every single fragrance they try is amazing, sounds very fake. Not everyone is like this but many.
@@YourScentBae I agree with that. Best thing anyone can do is unsubscribe and just go on their own fragrance journey without having an external influence. Works for me
I make a good living and I've purchased 2 to 3 fragrances a month. I literally went 3 months without buying anything because i believed that i had a problem.
That said, i enjoy the hobby, and i enjoy watching fragrances videos. It's one of the few things that i can watch that hasn't been injected with politics.
It's a beautiful hobby🤗
Yes.I hear you loud and clear. I'm sure I have almost 300 fragrances and backups and the buck has to stop here. It is completely a high and an addiction, especially when you are thriving on whats next instead of what you just got, and the thrill of the next mail delivery.
Yeah its a real drug
Yeah, the downside of this is when someone who you like and respect feeds this addiction 🫣

This video popped up today, I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep TELLING THEM THE TRUTH and doing your thing! 💕
Thanks dear 😍 wow happy to hear this from you, I watched almost all yours new ones since then - as always excellent content
Take care!
Your messages strikes right into my heart, literally word by word, 100% agree. Well I hope my message will rase awareness ☺️🤗
Is it gabbylovesperfumes lol. I cant with her and she has poor taste in perfumes, all gourmands sickly sweet strong stuff
I have my own suspicion about who is that comment, but it's not Gabi. I think Gabi was one of the first people I started to watch on perfume UA-cam, have nothing but good to say about her. All thought I just saw her briefly on Exsence, Im quite convinced she's a lovely human being. This is normal that we all have our own taste, anyway better than not having it at all🤣
Oh I can name a couple of them right now haha!

Ty
Thank you dear for your feedback 🤗 definitely those things should be more controlled, stay strong 💪

That's true.... I hope that can be changed
Prices for niche perfumes is quite a complicated topic, Im considering to film about it. Thanks a lot for your feedback 💞
Ahahah The Ending 🤣🤣🤣 this is extremely sweet of you ❤️ thanks so much 💞
I love how fragrance transforms my personality.
Im not even sure if they actually check
@@YourScentBae thing is if you smell a lot of fragrances you’ve smelled them all in a sense . You have your fresh , your sweet fragrances , musky. How many of them do you actually need to smell before deciding on a few . It’s fun smelling them but you don’t need them either is the thing .
One should be sensible enough not to get brainwashed into this ratrace. Be mindful of spending. Not overdoing anything is the healthy behavior.

I only have so many because of this channel.”
I hate to say it, but it feels like you’re trying to get views for saying something “controversial.” That thing with the comments really bugged me because it felt totally…false.
Okay, let's break it down
So don't, make your own analysis, filter information, use your one research source, make YOUR OWN POINT
Perfect. I have nothing against people who support and develop perfume industry, it's a beautiful thing to do, they totally deserved to be paid for their work, and but they should inspire people and not push and overwhelm🙌💞
Very valid points. You’re right no one really needs any of these fragrances to live our best lives… you’re the first to point this out👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, true 💞 unfortunately for many people it's a trap, they trust others options and buy blindly what the majority find a good one
@@YourScentBae I completely agree with you 🤗

Exactly, they can do whatever they want while being real, honest and transparent. This is overwhelming to see
I agree, especially when they get sponsored things change. I guess they need specific number of people buying to keep sponsors and attract more. I just hate being mislead. Just say that we should smell the scent or get a sample not run and get this… not saying it’s a must have. We all like different scents just because you like it doesn’t indicate that I will like it.
Especially when they like everything they smell 🤣🤣🤣 this I don't get at all like how is this even possible, or am I the only picky person in the entire world 🤣😭🤣
You are right about dupes I actually bought few times it and I stop because it’s don’t smell good
Not at all, dupes are bad thing to promote
@@YourScentBaePeople have to purchase what they can. So I don’t think telling people not to buy dupes is nice.
I started buying travel sizes. If I love it when the travel size is done, I will get a 50 ml..
Stay vigilant people!❤
Thanks a lot 🙏 a appreciate your opinion and time dedicated to writing it here🤗
I absolutely agree with the influencing and over consumption of products BUT I have bought some clones of perfumes that i honestly enjoy better than their inspiration 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of these comments sound more like they’re upset that poor people are trying to smell rich
Some channels have recommended fragrances that have been nothing but land fillers.
I actually have never seen anyone going into much details on that, so there's a gap
I don’t understand the problem smart people will buy the perfume sample to try before they buy a full bottle
Then maybe there's not that many smart people out there (according to that logic). But I would rather say it's about community and trust

Yes, totally
They’re advertising 400$ fragrances that are GIFTED TO THEM and offering some measly ass code 10/20/30% off a 400$ fragrance and that does WHAT? There's a point that people don't realize, and it's the fact that reviewers are not chemists. To truly review a fragance you need to know the raw materials used to manufacture the fragance, and the chemical proportion that the raw material is part of the fragance formula. They only talk about PERSONAL FEELINGS when they try a fragance, but they can never give an objective opinion to you, because they know nothing about the formulation.
Besides that of course they will say "I love it and it's better than previous one" to every single one they got from brand
There is no such think as an objective opinion on a darn scent ..what is the chemist going to tell ? People aren't buying perfumes because they are interested in their chemical makeup

You're right. I know they're lying because these people are not perfumers. They know nothing about notes
Actually it's very difficult craft, not everyone are able, but can be trained

@@farahjichi4617 actually it does, because those people learned the craft and have significant practice. It's same as proclaimin that being a doctor doesn't mean that you somehow better knows how to cure people
@YourScentBae Just because you can create something doesn’t mean you have a better aesthetic perception of it, as shown by the fact that perfumers often have widely varying preferences and styles and produce widely different scents
Your comparison to a doctor is a false equivalence-it’s more like saying a doctor would be better at describing the pain and suffering of having cancer. A doctor's job is literally to cure you, but it's not a perfumers skill to describe how a perfume smell . They are chemists, not sniffers with objective noses
I agree that you shouldn’t automatically buy into the hype and adopt someone else’s opinion because perfume is highly subjective. However, people enjoy reading perfume reviews because they’re curious about how a scent smells to others, especially common people
