Great stuff!! The X-Macro introduced a new category of pistol that is blurring the lines of what a pistol be great at. Shalotek was smart, saw this early, and then made the X-Macro (and all the other P366’s) even better. I do wish Shalotek would come up with a better slide integrated compensator and more aggressive frame texture though. Maybe they will soon. Thanks for the video and God bless!
Shalotek did reach out and say new grip panels are coming soon and I’m super excited to see what they are. But I agree the integrated comps made a huge difference and the dedicated comp is just crazy on the Flex lower
I had an X-Macro and a 365x and decided to build my X into a comped pistol with the Shalotek 17 round frame. I used a Harrington arms comp already had a threaded barrel and an IMT Nabraska trigger. Took both to the range and the X build blew away my X-Macro so I sold it and now carry the Shalotek and love it. Also fits in my X-Macro holster so it's a win win, none of the other metal grip frames fit my holster so that is why I went Shalotek. I may at some point end up buying a Shalotek slide to match. Great videos and I 100% agree with your assessments.
Started with an OG P365 and have gone through several additions/variations including XL and Macro frames, PMM combo, and the Shalotek pre-built package with a Monsoon Tactical ported XXL slide and barrel. I have 4-5 pistols worth of parts! I've now landed on the exact same setup as you minus the thumb rest (holster availability) and plus the Mcarbo trigger. It's great except for the too thick and slippery Shalotek grip panels. It was interesting to see we ended up at the same place. Thanks for the video.
That’s awesome! I haven’t seen anyone else really do this. Great minds think alike I guess. Slimfit holsters if you want to use the thumb throttle. I was the same as you too, had original p365, went up to XL, built a X-macro, got the Shalotek, had tons of parts, and finally the PMM. I sold everything but the Shalotek with PMM and one XL grip module hah
Yeah I’m about to order one tonight. My digital wheeler trigger gauge got here today and my 365 averages 6lbs. While the apex averages 5 and just feels way better.
Highly recommend looking into the FDEZ WERX ported barrel and integrated comp slide combination. I’ve seen nothing but great reviews. I would say the FDEZ set up with the Shalotek grip module would out perform the PMM set up.
I believe Shalotek actually was making the slides for FDEZ and then something happened to where they don't anymore I guess? Porting and an integrated comp would be something fun to try and if they were willing to send me one I would definitely compare it to the PMM setup. At this point I don't have the budget to keep buying for it but maybe soon I will
Is it possible to ask for a thorough breakdown of the parts list on your Shalotek? Outfitted the way you have it is exactly what I was looking to do, and I was happy to find your videos about it. I almost just got lazy and bought the premade Shalotek setup but I love the PMM Comp on my 509 Tac, so I’d like to do it on the 365. Thanks.

I hate waiting, but this saved me a ton of money because it was either going this route or buying a Staccato CS for $2600 today. My wallet is happier with this option lol
I was thinking about doing this or the integrated slide exact build. I have the tacops and like the idea of just the integrated slide so I can break it down without the whole dedicated comp getting in the way to clean it. My question is does the flex xlr17 fit the comp or do you need the XXLR to fit the comp/ slide? The Icarus grips are superior. Mischief is 2nd. No polymer grip compares to metal on the p365 variants. A lot of flat out snake oil out there promoted by people that don’t shoot much and understand f$&k all about quality. Maybe mention the porting not being allowed in USPSA except for open devision which would be a huge disadvantage. I carried a XL with a threaded barrel and Romeo X (507c previously and the junk Romeo 0). Empire Magwell. Switched over to the Icarus Ace Macro frame. Game changer! Built a macro with an empire magwell, metal back strap, micro slide, Herrington comp, 507c, mcarbo flat trigger.. damn good gun but not on par with the Icarus. Sold the comp’d macro and bought a staccato CS 😎
Switching from the XL to the Icarus Ace Macro was a massive improvement. I notice you didn’t mention what Icarus frame you have? Why not mention that? Several Icarus variants exist. The built in gas peddle alone is a massive improvement. You’d have to pay me to use Shelotek stuff. Are you being paid to promote Shelotek? Buy a base optic cut micro, macro sized frame (I prefer the Icarus or Mishief), and barrel/comp combo. Herrington comp works better than the PMM but is larger and doesn’t include a barrel.
I literally shoot around 200-300 rounds a week on average. In just 9mm. The XL size Icarus is not superior in mine and 5 other shooters opinion that shoot just as much as me. This is not a sales pitch and everything on my channel has been bought by me or lended to me by a friend. I did mention that it doesn’t make sense for USPSA as it would stick you in open division but that it would be awesome for IDPA. Now you had the Icarus macro frame and I have heard that they updated the stippling on it to where it actually feels like you can grip it now. If I ever get a chance to try one I will update my reviews on them. And yes, polymer grips can be better than metal grips on some pistols. The polymer can have better stippling from the factory and it can flex slightly to help with recoil mitigation. There are multiple reviews out on UA-cam of others showing why they prefer polymer on guns like flicks and M&P’s because of this. I personally haven’t tried them so I can’t comment on it. Thank you for the feedback though and it sounds like you found what you needed in a nice staccato
@@SmallArmsFirearms I watched all of your footage the XL EVO is far superior as is the macro. You are comparing to the original icarus grip module that was basic a stock grip done in aluminum.
