truck I just came out of had 20k front 23k tag 52k rears with disc on steer and drives 2spd aux and 18spd in front full lock rears 550 isx was a beast and 4:33 gears was great spec and was on adz neway air
robert fletcher Were you happy with the Neway Suspension?
@ best suspension I have ever had on a truck tough and rode great for heavy spec truck
@ 367 set back axle was 288wb. Had 6.5ft slide on it double locks and full lock rears
@ set back axle makes easier to get weight forward when needed
robert fletcher was it a old ats or valley trans truck?
Put a green goblin mask on the front would look mean
But wouldn’t have that Detroit 2 stoke sound
That's a beautiful truck. But I'd take the DUEL truck any day.
Those stacks look so punny!
Very beautiful Pete
Man I was expecting bigger rears then that
Most steering wheel holders today faint at the sight of a gear shift- Seeing that 2nd one would give them PTSD !!!!!
Joseph Rivett yup just like a split stick lol
I grew up on an old farm truck with triple sticks man. That was no joke. I'm so glad they run splitters now but do have to admit I'd LOVE to get behind a triple stick for a road trip
I would like to see them put a old-school triplex in one of these
R it happens. It's just custom so it's rare. It would be fun to drive though. As long as you didnt have any major hills or drive in town or have a massive load or etc etc lol
Exactly . The old man that taught me to drive a truck in 84 told if you want to drive you drive this old gmc with a triplex first. Once you learn to drive it you will be able to drive anything.
I just creamed my freaking shorts!!! They make em without dirt all over the cab and buttons that actually operate what is labeled???? Wow bro freaking sweet!!
uhm thanks?
cool looking truck it's got the badass X15 Cummins in it freaking torque monsters not many out there that out pull them jake break work the best of any motor ever put on the road Cummins has always had good Jake brakes on their engines
yeah I'm just gonna stay single and do this. thanks hackers

When you spec these trucks, can the operator choose how to lay out the gauges? Temps, Press, Air, Electrical all aligned in groups? Beautiful work Steve!
Can someone explain to me how this particular transmission works please. I'm used to 10, 13 and 18 speed but not one like this.
Start both in first. Technically you can shift every gear but truthfully 6 maybe 7 times depending on hills and weight. Main in first aux in first, shift 2, 3 and 4 on the aux. Then second on main and first on aux. Repeat that for all the gears you have on the main. In reality you learn to skip most of them. Remember to give the air shift aux time to shift else you get it stuck in the middle acts like it's in neutral and it could be. Which is why I like 2 sticks and not the air shift version. Having said that, the air shift version is way easier to shift. Why they mounted it like that is beyond me. Mine is on the main shifter. They had to put it somewhere. Originally it mounted like a gear shit knob because it was meant for non air shifted main transmissions. I'd swap that new school shift knob out to and old school version, add a "Y" adapter and your set. You have to add and re rought the air lines. You really need to have someone show you in the truck. But that's the basics. Good luck. It's not hard it's fun! Only intimidating because you haven't done it.
There's 4 reverse gears too. I recommend you stay in first reverse otherwise you go to fast. A few gears overlap so you don't need them. One or two are actually down shifts even though you made an upshift you figure that out quick.
You said it was a full locker, it's only a 3/4 locker. How many times has that POS Cummins left them on the side of the road? The air shift Spicer would have been neat to see.
Been doing this 20+ years PLEASE explain a 3/4 locker to me, I'm all ears...
@@SteveCarbone a full locker has 3 switches, there were only 2. One interaxle lock and differential lock. The front axle is usually the expensive one that will lock up on a 3/4 locker. A full locker has an air solenoid on the rear as well. Kind of pricey, but worth every penny when the shit hits the fan.
Hi, my name is Josias, I'm Brazilian. I love american truck. My dream is to leave for U.S.A to work on such a truck
Josias Cruzgomes Good luck to you Josias on your pursuit of the American dream
Kenyon Worthen II
Thank you my brother. God bless us
Kenyon Worthen II the rest of the world just calls a dream a job!
I wish you luck
I guess if you're a truck driver and can't see yourself doing anything else.
Nice heavy haul truck Steve. Good to see the Neway suspension running it on 3 of my trucks. I laughed when you said big 46k rears that's what we run out here in the woods in Oregon but pulling steep grades you need them. If you get pictures after they finish it I'd like to see them, keep up the good work.
what is the advantage of the neway suspension?
@@ccclc6159 I like it because unlike Pete air trac there's no springs it's just beams and torque arms which limits parts to break, I had several springs break while I was heavy hauling with the air trac, I have nearly 250,000 miles with no issues with the neway suspension.
hello. it is the greatest thing to see the mirror mounted turn single. should be standard safety equipment !!!
Haven't seen a factory 4speed aux in years, damn beautiful truck
Gei
In the oilfield, they're on most every haul truck
Happens alot in SW Louisiana
Catom Trucking in Geneva, Illinois? They were all Kenworth, are they switching or just trying something different?
Beautifully done, Another dream come true for someone. Makes me happy to know.
Is heavy spec and heavy haul about the same ?
Also my Heritage softail is black diamond which i thought is cool
I need to know about how you shift the 4 speed auxiliary transmission. Can I drive it? I love gear jammin'.
A PIECE OF WOOD AS A MUD FLAP HANGER!!! NO WAY😟😟
Was temporary I promise....
Nice looking truck. What 4 speed auxiliary is it, maybe a TTC built Spicer like an AMO1750 or?
I don't like making a negative coment. but why would you tie srap wires to a mirror . if im paying 175000,00 plus for truck.
Has that performance series got a shitty jake like the efficiency series does? Here in the frozen north "heavy haulers" have real third axles, not a set of training wheels. lol.
The jake will throw you into the windshield
The jake on an X15 Efficiency Series 500/1850 sucks balls. I've driving one for over 100, 000 k. Even empty it ain't great.
it sound good but is not loud and efficient like good old truck
Welcome back peterbilt steve its been a long time
Wish you could do same KW sell. ;)
any videos showing how to shift this(4 speed aux. trans.) how does it work with the 18 speed trans.? ect. would really love to see that😎
I'm too scared to do it on video..
what's the mpg of 389 stand up with 1850 torque?
7 to 8 mpg
started trucking in 1979. Broke in on an Autocar with 5&4 two stick. In 97 I was driving a Pete with the drop axle and a two stick 6&4. pulling pay loads of up to 100,000 pounds, 18 to 22 feet wide. loved every minute of it.
Thats bad ass
Show us how that transmission works!
Joyride time!
Torsee , basically you have every Gear times 4. It's Awesome. Add s alot of weight but it's worth It.
Todd Hoover he wants to see how it's done.
Wish I could show him. Had it in a 379 13spd 3:55 rear's. Pulling a Refer.Awesome spec. Wish I had it Now.Running a Custom 03 379 with 18spd. 3:70 Rear s
Torsee I
Beautiful Pete for sure. I never did like the steering wheels though, they look like they're from my mom's former 1990 mercury topaz shitbox..haha. the auxiliary blue stick is a stationary stick; its a splitter. Basically "kinda" like taking a 14 or 16 speed spicer,(which is a 2 gearbox system) removing the splitter off the main box and putting it on a stick. If it was my truck, i'd like it mounted on the gear shift. You used to see that a lot back in the 80's when V-8's were popular, (V-8 Mack, 3408 Cat powered trucks) The company I worked for (Domtar) had a lot of log haul trucks; mid 80s macks w/445hp V-8 w/16 spd spicer's. UA-cam search 16 speed spicer and find a couple of good vids of guys showing how to shift one.
No good for heavy haul only kw are I know i drove both for 34 yrs especially because kw hold up well on dirt road and heavy haul is mostly in dirt
You know KW and Peterbilt are both PACCAR made right?
Lmaoooo Manuel, go back over that fence my friend. Harvest season is over
@@SteveCarbone irrelevant. He's actually right. Peterbilt doesn't offer anywhere near the options in heavy-haul or off-road that Kenworth does. What he obviously doesn't know, which is relevant, is most Petes are built on KW frames. No bad thing, many KWs are ordered with Pete suspensions. I, for one, love the ride of the Pete low-leaf.
But if you need a truly serious HD truck, the KW is the one that gets the job done. T800H, The Brute (C500B), and the incredible 963B.
pete always has amazing paint from the factory
I'm not a trucker but if I had the money I'd buy one of these bad boys just to drive no trailer just cruising
same
I'm glad that they didn't put 425's on the front it doesn't make sense to with that long wheelbase.
agreed
WOW 😲 what a truck.....👍
Wow, for a 2019 the styling hasn’t changed much. Nice truck.
Classic styling
@@SteveCarbone its the best
why not 20k front? and non-steerable pushers
VladGoro25 with a wheelbase that long you can’t get enough weight forward enough for a 20k axle to be of any use. When truck is loaded you actually have less weight on the steer axle then when empty.
Dave Penn Some of these Heavy Haul Comments I have read on these Videos make me shake my head.
There are A LOT of Factors that come into Play when it comes to Transferring Weight to the Front Axle?
What’s Your Truck Type - Set Forward or Set Back Front Axle?
Are You Running A Tandem Axle, Tandem Axle with a Lift Axle, Tri-Drive, a 3, 4, or 5 Axle Truck?
What’s Your Rear Axle Spacings - 52”, 54-55”, 60” or 72” (I myself prefer 54-55” Axle Spacings with a Set Forward Truck & 60” Axle Spacings with a Set Back Axle Truck)
What’s Your Wheelbase - Is It 250-315” WB
What’s Your Fifth Wheel Slide Length - 36”, 48”, 60”, or 72”+?
What’s Your Trailer King Pin Distance - Is it 16” or 24”?
What’s Your Trailer Gooseneck Swing Clearance - Is it 84”, 96”, 102”, 106”, 108”, 110”, 116”, 120”, 125”, 130”, 135”, 140”, 146”+ ETC?
What Type of Setup are You Running - 7 Axle, 8 Axle, 10 Axle, 11 Axle, 12 Axle, 13 Axle+ with a Jeep & Booster/Stinger Axle?
Is it a Closed or Spread Axle Combo/Setup?
What is Your Deck Length & How is Your Load Loaded - Is It Loaded Heavy to the Front, Is it Centered, Is it Loaded Heavy to the Rear Depending on Trailer & Axle Setup
Now Factor ALL of These Things Together!
Good lookin truck but 4spd aux shifter leaking air bad
Love the vids. Never seen a 4 speed aux shifted b4. Anyway to get those guys who own truck to make a vid shifting it?
chase sakamoto go onto UA-cam and check out how to shift a 16spd air shift Spicer. It’s a 5x4. 5 spud main 4 spud auxiliary air shift! Way cool!
@@johnmoore1949 just looking over your com. Thanks I started out in a five and four both st. Havent seen one till now
Nice truck . I have only hauled 60 to 80 ton pay load and I think the aux. Trans. Would b gret
315 isn’t that wide, pretty normal.. I have 385 on mine front axle
On a 301" wheelbase?
I have 425’s on my steers. 👍
425s here lol. 425 on the pusher too
What a ride Steve! I was so in love with this one that I just had to play the video for my boss. Without missing a beat he goes: Now that's rig I can haul my mother-in-law's ass with...... All jokes aside that is one badass truck. Thanks for sharing Steve.
One of a kind, custom mudflaps option.
Steve, went on their website.. nice fleet indeed. You should go on Instagram and look up #rocktechinc They are by me running trucks permitted up to 370,000 GVW. Every truck is named/designed after a navy destroyer or carrier.
Man Peterbilts always look awesome in black, she's sweet.
Are there any other colors for a peterbilt 😁😁
Nice truck but I’ll take my old school Spicer over this
YES SIR, UNLESS TWO STICKS IT AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A GLORIFIED 13 SPEED. POOOEY!!!
2 stroke Detroit
@@chadnicolia7763 the most efficient way to turn noise I to horsepower 💪🏼
@@Coonass your not making nothing with anything thing with DEF .catipillar needs to come back.
@@chadnicolia7763 i was making a joke about those old Detroit's. I like the sound with the high RPMs and alot of farmers use em down here in the south for their pumps in rice fields. Lotta old trucks haulin rice and cane have em too. They're reliable if ya add a few quarts of oil ever mornin before ya crank er up.
How long is the build time at the factory right now from the time the order is placed until it arrives at your dealership?
about three years lol
Beautiful truck!
Nice looking ! Forgot to video the right side of the engine compartment and a nice good pan of the dash board from one side to the other without any blurr. Could have fired it up too.
How about a good video with the auxiliary box in use with a bit of detail.
Cheers
Price?
200ish
What sucks is some idiot would smoke inside one of these beautiful trucks.
speterbilt not your truck sooooo who cares
MAShire3 you must be one of these idiots and now your feathers are ruffled up. Hahaha. Go get more lung cancer dipshit
speterbilt if it's your truck d smoke all you want, if not ,do what the owner says.
Taff Brown yeah do what you want. I just said its a shame them nasty smokers ruin these beautiful trucks with that garbage
speterbilt I agree with ,I am sure truck would maintain a good look, but give us smokers some fresh air costing down hill.have a blessed day God bless you!!!😏😑😁
I'm looking for a truck like this
I'm not a fan of the glitter in the paint. Makes the paint look scratched. At least it's not a automatic
2019 with rose wood and analogue dials.this thing belongs in a museum!
Acho lindo os caminhões americanos 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is probably a weird question but can any make/modle of truck be ordered with a 4 speed auxiliary transmission or just the Peterbilt 389? I'd like to get a heavy haul Kenworth T880 with the Spicer.
I tried to buy a truck from you guys but the price on trucks has went up 20k since the 2017 that was bought there. And I was shocked by that.
Gary W steel tariffs kicking in perhaps?
S. J. I guess everyone needs someone to blame right
Gary W I never blamed anyone. Something but not someone.
Can you get it with the hendrickson 20k steer with 425/22.5 and the same with the pusher axle and 24.5 tall rubber one the drivers 4.11 rears with full lockers and the holland fw-100 fifth wheel and 72' raised sleeper? Oh and a fuller RTLO 20918B with a aux browning 4spd? Spicer sucks in my opinion
Has the DEF issues been resolved with the new 2019 Petes ? The whole DEF system has been a nightmare :( Had a 2013 Kenworth T800. Loved the truck but the DEF issue's have been a living Hell😠
We have a 18 Pete tandem axle with 13,000 miles. No emissions issues, but major suspension problems. From the factory, it didnt have enough steer axle clearance. We put a load on and the front tires came up through the fenders. Pete ended up putting 6 inch blocks in the leafs after 3 visits for the same issue. Mechanically sound, but major chassis issues.
LET'S GO FOR A CRUISE BABY! LET THAT MONSTER GROWL DOWN THE ROAD
With the need of 4.10s, and a 4sp aux… it’s odd not to see it as a Tri drive with 69k rear and 22k front suspension. I mean once you are in that category of trucking, I’d even imagine 445 front tires
What size wheel and tire on the drives?
11R22.5
@@SteveCarbone the front is that 315 /80 -22.5 right?
Any suggestion where I can find a instructional video showing how the 4 speed auxiliary is supposed to be operated?
Has any one point that this is optimus truck
fredrick_ Animator 😕
fredrick_ Animator I thought that was a western star...
so why are the wheels/tires just behind the fuel tanks smaller ??? seems kinda weird to have 3 different sized tires for one vehicle, or atleast to me it does
For clearance reasons, great question
I love the looks of American trucks I hate the look of the European trucks
there's no character in European trucks they just look like in L shape
That truck would scare the hell out of most new CDL holders. I'll take one please. Definitely ready to do battle.
If i wanted absolutely zero chrome anywhere on the truck at all whatsoever could you do it? And do you sell gliders? I have no desire to wait 3 weeks for a filter to be replaced on a brand new truck and dick around with software issues.
👍 First 👍
Driver you are on the ball..
So I see you are here instead of making idiotic ramblings,hmm......Just kidding around, c'mon.
You are on a roll Tim. Love your videos
72 forward gears. That's what you need Tim. That would keep you busy.
Quite the accomplishment.
What's the retail price on that bad boy?
200ish
@@SteveCarbone thanks. 👍
Where were you able to buy the 4 speed aux transmission and shifter iv looked and looked for our haul truck and can't find one
He said it had a four-speed auxiliary, but you didn’t say what it was in behind what kind of transmission
Hey Steve! Would it be possible to do a video on a 567?
awesome rig
How many gears does that add up to I noticed it had a gray button on the side Ike an 18 speed
Fffff.... That's a beautiful truck
what's the auxiliary transmission for?
So this is what a million $$$ looks like!! Beautiful truck!
Yes sir!
The X15 Performance series carries the mail. The company I now work for has only Performance series. No power complaints. Drivers who grew up with manuals at first squak when first getting into an automatic. Once they get used to it they don't want the manuals back. Most of my life I worked as a tech at Cummins distributors so I do appreciate the x15's amazing performance and reliability.
Take this truck, the 359 with Sleeper and the Kenworth W900L with Studio Sleeper and get everything that is great about them and build a very sweet truck with a onboard compressor and electronic automatic air bleeder valve put into the works.
Bute
you would think hub reduction drives would be given hor a heavy haul truck, but dont see that often on us trucks. not often at all. it makes a whole lot of difference when shit gets brutal :)
Stian it does, but at the expense of too much weight. Payload is the game here.
jdofmemi it is a bit heavy, my 6x4 Volvo is 11.500kg as a tractor. And that's very light considering.
Is that an 18sp roadrunner with a spicer auxilary
prettiest machines ever made
I know nothing about trucks but this thing is fuckin beautiful
You know a good one when you see it!
2019 Peterbilt which still has air cleaner cans mounted on the outside of the truck unlike Kenworth 2019 trucks with no air cleaner cans what a shame for Kenworth
Sad to see the W900 go
W900 still in production, still has air cleaners on the side. The 990 is not taking its place.
I'd be surprised if the 990 and its Peterbilt counterpart dont flop.
Steve, In another ten years or so you could become a good truck salesman. Right now you have a loooong way to go
How many total forward gears is that?
Seventy two!
9:04 interior
🤤. Nice!
Shity motor, over priced garbage, ill stick with a 359 pete with a Cat 3406E 550
Enjoy your cassette tapes an dial up modems
I'm curius about the weight.
Looks pretty plain to me
No engine infö , no main transmission info. If your were trying to sell this truck to me I would be thinking all it has is 4spd aux trans. Just hint
All of that info is in the video.....
I foresee issues with the way that fifth wheel is set up. If I need to explain further, then you need to look closer to the plate and possible cut angles
Damn. I cut my teeth pulling 3 trailers thru the Outback, grossing 100 tons, with a W model KW, 450hp Cat, 14sp Spicer, 2 speed diffs....
