I was pleasantly surprised when you opened the door and it wasn't an automatic transmission. Great looking truck. I still like the look of the W900L Kenworth too.
Fascinating that some truck models hardly not changed their outer appearence for decades, and still sells well, while car companies needs to come up with new designs all the time to keep sales going;) But hey, why change something that works, I'm all in.
Rimrock 300 I have just watched a youtube video of a guy recovering a 1977 Peterbilt. That's 42 years ago.The external look of the truck seems hardly to have changed. Still has the aerodynamics of a brick but never mind. I suppose they go with the saying 'If it ain't broke don't fix it". Here's the link if you want to see the old lady being fired up after 18 years. ua-cam.com/video/EIz5SuUO6Kc/v-deo.html
You really need to look to tell the difference over the last 35 years even the older ones as driving by they all have the same look 80-90-2000-and up are all the same older ones you need to look at hoods and door handels and windshields to seperate the years
+Rimrock300: You gotta be a die hard fan to drive old stuff like this. Their new offerings are far superior in every way compared to this. Check out that 1930's style clutch pedal. The front end tends to wash out in the rain. Same dashboard since 2006. These 389's are for fanboys only.
@@TeeroyHammermill Yeah, I would think so. Personally I think a older/cheaper version of this one would be fine for a show / hobby truck, but for a daily driver I guess most would go for a more modern higher comfort truck)

Does it come in righthand drive? would love to have one of these trucks in Australia, that mandarin orange paint finish is beautiful with the chrome finishes. Amazing Truck :)
Peterbilt Steve that would be a nice Truck to lease on to Ghorley Trucking as long as it's got a Cummins X15 in it. Good looking ride, do you guy's paint to so it could have a Gun metal gray added to it.
Filter assembly is $695, labor and small parts to finish the conversion I ASSUME will be another $700 or so. The lines obviously wont align the same and I think there is one more hose on the PACCAR than the Davco so you need to install a tee to the return. Next time we do one in my shop I will document and video what it takes.
Peterbilt Steve so basically 3 years of just fuel filter changes outside of normal oil changes, if a man kept the truck longer than that it might pay off to retrofit it, I couldn’t justify the cost over the life span of how long I would run the truck, maybe I’ll make sure my next new ride has it from factory, thank you for the information and response 👍
We bought a 5 axle tanker 3 yrs ago and over 300 k milles on it never an issue. Our shop swears by them. Not sure bout cost tho but that info is easy to get thru your local shops,
Love how this truck looks. New company just put me in a brand new 2019 389 heavy haul with that x15 but says 100 year anniversary edition. It is my first truck with disc brakes and I too thought well dot won't be able to hit me for brakes at least.
@mofa komrade sure. I see where you're coming from. This is meant to be a truck, not a Bentley. Also, trucks are meant to be sturdy and extremely durable. Most truckers here hate the new trucks because of their plastic like design and reliability. Cabovers went out of style as well because they had problems such as aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, comfortability, and roughness in ride. That's why conventional trucks became the dominant standard here. European truck design makes sense in Europe because of the road system having tight curvy narrow roads. American trucks with conventional cabs were designed for long distance driving. Both are built for different road systems and terrains.
@mofa komrade I also prefer that classic look of peterbuilts, freight liners, Mack's, Kensworths, western star trucks, and Internationals. I'm not into the looks of European lorries in general. I like conventional cabs more especially American conventional cabs because of their cool design. It's all perference. Of course there's many good looking European trucks like DAF, MAN, and Ivecco.
The Kenworth W900 VIT is still nicer. I do like the Pete low-leaf air ride, but the 8-bag KW still provides the best overall ride, particularly with very heavy loads.
