Shawn, You are by far the most talented and the most thorough reviewer on UA-cam! Your playing is stellar and your style covers what Most guitarists like and can relate to. Thanks and keep up the great work.
No matter the guitar or the equipment, you never stop to amaze me. it's in your fingers man. You belong with the great ones. You are a true inspiration.
This pedal is pure magic ! I just ordered it and play like Shawn Tubbs… and there I wake up :( What an AMAZING guitarist ! Carrie is a very lucky Lady !!
distinct playing style, very few people out there that you instantly know who is playing, but when it is Tubbs, you always know. Well done Mr. Tubbs! Congrats on being completely original in style in a world that so many sound the same.
After I listened to the reviews by Ola.. then Henning.. the Revv G3 went right on my "must have" list.. but now Mr Tubbs' review? fuggetaboutit!! what an awesome pedal?!?.. thank you Shawn.
Shawn I have so much respect for you. When playing for someone you stay in the background. I used to have to take a Marshall head with me with a treble booster. That’s all there was. But with your own band you can open up and play how you feel. That’s why I have much respect for you. A lot of people dont realize that!!!!
@@RevvAmps hi I just got the REVV G3 i want to know how can i decrease the hiss noise on the background on higher gain settings? Is there a trimpot inside that i can adjust to get minimal noise floor hiss? Thanks
FLIPAX LEGATO Hey dude! It depends on a ton of factors. Can be hard to diagnose long distance. Normally noise in a pedal is due to unclean or non-isolated power. Also different amps can be noisier in the front end, especially when using a lot of gain (there is a lot on tap in the pedal, I never really use more than half). It also depends on your standards for hum - you may just need a gate if you want totally silent operation for high gain. So overall 1) power and 2) isolation are normally the culprits in pedal noise but also 3) very high gain settings will introduce a little noise depending on the amp and 4) you may just need a gate depending on your tonal preferences.
Revv Amps Thanks For Reply! Btw its a Great Pedal I love it especially on Down Tune guitars! Yes I'm Using an Isolated Power Supply! I use the pedal around 8am Gain which is enough Gain! Cheers
I'm late to the G3 party, I'm all-in now and it's great. Thanks for a great video. I consider this my reference for G3 settings. I've been at this for many years and many pedals (don't get me started on my guitar and amp fetish), but I find this pedal to be a game changer. I am knocking three pedals off my board with this one! Thanks for helping me out *after I got it! Edit: Terrific playing too!
I don't usually comment on review videos, but I've only seen one other as comprehensive and articulate as this (not to mention the very obviously and absolutely fantastic well-designed pedal). Accolades to Shawn Tubbs for taking the time with his excellent playing skills and well offered presentation (you'd be dynamite in any sales position with a product you believed in). And, speaking of 'articulate,' the pedal in this video may be the best of its kind that I've come across in any review. I'm gonna get one (and, *I'm n-o-t into pedals - not at all!*). Thanks so much for taking the time to provide such a really great review and demonstration...! ⚡👍⚡😀⚡👍⚡
Amazing job from a phenomenal player. I have this pedal and I highly recommend it. Most other distortion pedals I have, and I have many, don't track as well as the G3. Really like having an extra very versatile drive channel to your amp. Very versatile active eq. Love the bass eq; never gets muddy. Very professional sound. This baby will never leave my board. Great job Revv!
Shawn, don't make me buy more pedals! I already got a load of drives and distortions and you keep coming up with these insane specimen from the evil labs of roaring doom. ;-D
Stroopwafel 61 yea Shawn I sold this and had to rebuy it after seeing ur demo. I felt like I didn’t give it enough time to really check it out. Signed a pedal addict.
I have been torn between this and the EVH overdrive, I then decided to go for the EVH and ordered it earlier. But this review has tipped me over the edge to buy the EVV G3 aswell. I hope you are proud of yourself for making me empty my bank account! lol. Great review!
Did NOT expect that much gain right off the bat... maybe I’d prefer the G2...? Thanks T - Oops, those knobs play light tricks, the gain was up pretty high to start with, lol.
Yeah, I started with the gain just past 12 o'clock. I actually prefer the G2 myself because though it's capable of more gain than you'd expect, it's less aggressive and more open. The G3 has compression and tightness to it which is killer for high gain solos and rhythm playing. It's to each his or her own.
So, with the Tilt boost, the G2, and this, that should cover all my OD/Distortion sounds. I have a Katana 100 head, so it can be annoying to try and get a nice saturated distortion tone..This should do the trick. Thanks, Shawn! As usual, great demo.
I think you'll find that you can get quite a bit out of that setup for sure. The Tilt Boost into the G2 sounds really great. The G3 is more aggressive and tight-sounding and of course, has gobs of gain.
Great demo as always. Pedal sounds great, but I think I am going spend the next month figuring out what you played at the top! It’s like Steve Lukather sat in on a Steely Dan track after lunch with Joe Diorio. Love the mids on this pedal. Can still have a bright, spanky, clean and kick in a fat crunch or lead. Also most importantly the pedal seems to have a unique high gain voicing. I have to give Revv a lot of credit for that. A lot of high gain sounds can get very homogeneous. Not this one.
Love your playing Shawn..sorry if you think I was cutting you up.. what I was trying to say is play it as you explain it.. bought it cause of you.. I get tommorow..long and mcquade.. Toronto..
Far out, this has to be one of the best high-gain OD/Distortion pedals around. I'm not really a distortion guy, more boost/OD/Fuzz but if I needed a new High-Gain OD/Distortion pedal, I'd grab this in a heartbeat. The G2 is also a winner. G4...not my thing.
OH man..., you’re killing me...what nasty riffs...you certainly can rip when you have to...wowza....great vibrato too on your playing (fingers not bar) tossed up for G3 or G4, seems the G3 maybe for classic rock....my kinda stuff.. thoughts? Would be running into the front of a Laney LC50 combo.....thanks Shawn...,smokin....
Definitely better than the Uberschall pedal, highs not as shrill. I don’t agree it being able to clean boost, dirty boost maybe. Got it in trade with my Uberschall. Yes, that’s what I told myself, react like a tube amp with guitars volume. Not transparent but for this purpose that’s what you want for a major shift toward a huge lead sound. Always tight and articulate.
Shawn,my G3 pedal came in today and it sounds great through the front of my EVh 15150- 50 watt amp head, then I tried it into the effects loop hooking it up like a regular pedal and it sounds just ok,and I haven't tried it straight into the effects loop reurn jack yet but I am wondering how you are running yours here in this video ?
Shawn Tubbs Shawn me too on the effects loop using delay reverb etc, I have seen another video for these and the guy runs it into his effects loop standard way with both cables and the amp/pedal combo sounded great..I just got done playing for the night and the pedal does indeed sound great. .Thank you for the info..this video you did here is awesome, keep it up we all THANK YOU! ! $
This pedal is a great pedal. It's EQ is extremely touchy and it's one of those EQ's where all three work off each other. One annoying thing about this pedal is switching from your clean to the distortion on this pedal. It has this weird fade in effect where the volume doesn't start at the set volume right off the bat and kind of fades into it. It's seriously annoying. Other than this the pedal is great!
Another? Only 12k subs and it gets in my 'recommended' stuff? Oh well, already playing. Wait...it sounds real good! How come the last 4 or 5 'big time youtubers' I watched demo this all managed to make it sound sort of crappy? I'm not sure, so I listened to some other stuff you've done. You have that Johan Segeborn/Peter Honoré problem...everything you play sounds good! Don't need another pedal...or I need a dozen...not sure...LOL! (edit: 12k +1)
I'm a huge fan of the G2 but for 80's style high gain I'd go with the G3 because it not only has the gain range and tonal pallet, it also has a slightly compressed feel while staying incredibly tight sounding.
my Boss metalzone crushed the g3 I just bough big time so it will be for sale. even tweeking both pedals for a good while with my cousin playing amazing riffs with my other cousin there listening. I got a perfect just perfect beefy smooth and tight distortion that just gives you eargasm they both felt the same way. the metalzone is just the best and soooo versatile too. to bad but the revv is crap and when I have time it's getting sold.
2 quick chord blasts x2 c'mon Shawn playing an aggressive tone for 10 secs wouldn't hurt you well not permanently anyways it won't turn you into Kerry King though it might have some of your 'scribers' bite on hard on their bandits lol

Super Clean Distortion .. you always hear all the distinct notes .. great pedal!

Great Comment, On my channel I posted the Boss ST2, and didn't display it good enough.

Not to take anything away from Revv but you can make anything sound great... love the way you play...
hearing him play this pedal was very cool.. it really confirmed for me the versatility of this pedal.
Bobby Lane agreed. REVV is putting out some great stuff... definitely on my wish list
That's the problem how are people gonna know it's good when Shawn could play through a pignose and sound like Shawn? hahaha
Found your channel today when looking for info on this pedal. GREAT review. i subscribed
Thanks so much!!
This is the most real demo. I just got G3 today, and make real comparison. This demo is 100% equal to the real thing I heard.
What a great review and playing. Just subscribed, he deserves way more!
Awesome Shawn. Im a fan of yr Style
Excellent tones, and playing is tasty amazing, very unique. Gonna see if you have lessons because I need some of those outta the box licks - killer
Thanks so much!! I have a lesson pack. www.soundslice.com/store/demolition-guided-tour/

I think we're going to print T-Shirts that says "Evil Labs of Roaring Doom" now.
I'll buy one ;-)

Your demos are great because they are so danceable

EndlessNameless well? You like em both?
Thanks man, very good review, mine is on the way, thanks Shawn
Mannnnn! This guy's got licks🤘you rock Shawn
Great demo! Really explains the pedal well.
Perfect guy to demo this. Thank you!
Absolutely killer licks....my style of playing....kicks a**...awesome....
Awesome review Shawn!

you rock great licks and technique
Revv G3 is Preamp,Overdrive and Distortion Pedal( high gain) .

The song at the start of this feels very Andy Timmons to me. You guys are both awesome lol
Shawn, what a great demo! I would love to know, what pickups are in that PRS MC 58? Are they the stock pickups, or something else?
Thanks so much, Jesse. Those are the PRS 57/08 pickups.
I have enough distortion pedals, I just came for the playing. You never cease to amaze me.
Have you tried the Dirty Shirley?

@@agoquintal Not at all man, I appreciate the comment.
Very enjoyable playing and tones. Are you a pro player?
Thanks very much!
Happy new year Shawn! Is the Revv G3 is more gain than the Carl Martin plexitone? the single yellow
Happy New Year! The G3 has quite a bit of gain. I unfortunately don’t have any experience with the CMPT but my guess is the G3 has more gain.

Would you rather have a revv3 or peavey 6505mh?
I don't have any experience with that amp.
Great review. Thanks. Is the signal path after the Bella going into the OX or is it a mic'd cabinet or both?
Thanks, Kurt! Bella into the OX.

Wow, what scale did you use in the solos, it sounds sometimes like pentatonic but then something else.
So, is it a distortion pedal or nah? I'm confused

Dude. If you're backing the gain off that much, then you might want to try a different pedal. This may not be the pedal for you.
very Plexi-like
Do you have rule that you cant play a guitar under $3000
