So here's a question. Could you effectively stick this pedal into the front of a cheap or crappy amp or even an SS amp to get your whole drive tone for live?
What I like about the sound of this OD versus others is it has a very organic sound to it. I've been looking hard at Horizon devices but something about those pedals feel too computerized, this just feels like a drive pedal that is meant to run with high gain or not so high gain tube amps.
been ignoring notifications of people demoing this pedal for like the past 12 hours lol, ive only been insterested in wampler catapulp. finally decided to click. this sounds amazing actually, sounded really full when you cranked up the volume in the front of the marshall. i didnt like it with the preamp bypassed though, sounded really flubby. sounds alot tighter and stronger in front of the amp.
HoshiHearts RetroGaming Watch Olas review, maybe its the power amp of his Randall Satan, but the pedal sounded amazing through his rig into the power amp.
Dude, i know this video is about the pedal, but i really liked that full mix track, like way more that it has the right to. put some powerful vocal and i would listen to that song to the death! :O Nice work men :)
Gain seems usable all the way around. Seems the high eq and volume controls are only especially usable in limited ranges. I like it a lot. For a distortion pedal.
Hey Hunter! I recently got my first decent amp, the thing is, I live in an apartment and in some clean tones it feels like it has too much bass and the whole room kinda vibrates, any ideas why that might be happening? Or any fixes? I already tried turning the bass down, even at 0 but it still happens.
easy kick fix to this is to put your amp on surface to help even out the vibrations. Box full of sand is surprisingly the best way to counteract this, but you can also get a stand or possibly something really dense. Hope this helped \m/
There are some stands that will also angle up the amp so you can point the speaker at you and not have to turn the volume up as much. This also helps reduce the room vibrations, because it sort-of isolates the vibrating cabinet from the ground. Also, how loud are you playing? I've never had an amp vibrate the room without being REALLY loud
I've been curious about that. To use it as a preamp, you plug the output of the pedal into the return of the effects loop, correct? I've never heard of that, and want to try it, but don't want to roast anything.
REVV Generator amps sound like Mesa Boogies with the missing element. The Mark series lacks what the Recs have, and the Recs lack what the Mark series have. The Generator finds that nice middle ground and gives you both. The pedal sounds awesome but i need that Generator.
I have no idea what is going on with that model (the higher-end $1299 one). No one seems to carry it but Sweetwater, and Sam Ash has it listed as discontinued...
Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister or Grandmeister Deluxe? Cleans and dirty are both kickass. The 40W versions can run cabs for gigs, but also can plug directly into your DAW for recording, 20W/5W/1W modes, etc. They're awesome!
Not a metal player, but I need a good distortion. I have a Katana 100 head, and I need something that will sound good in the clean channel. Maybe this one. The Empress Heavy is a little too much, I think, considering I don't need that much distortion, all the time. Thanks for the great demo!
Do you think fluence pickups have become/are becoming the new standard for modern metal with all these artists switching from companies they’ve used for their entire careers? Favorite pizza toppings
this morning I saw Ola's vid on this pedal, then my favorite gear demo-er dose it on the same day \M/ btw but how would this work as a boost? (idk how much in advance this vid was but if you still have it how does it compare to ts9 or Precision D for boost)
I didn't find it that great as a boost. There's a lot of low-end and SO much gain, even when the gain knob is turned down lol. I found I was able to get better results with it used as a distortion pedal in front of a clean channel :)
Aggression switch doesn’t seem to do much to me. I couldn’t hear a difference out front and it was very subtle when in the loop. But overall it sounds good
Obviously Revv sent these to a bunch of UA-cam guys, because, suddenly, everyone and his brother is reviewing it. I would have to hear one of these in person before buying it. I’ve been strongly disappointed by pedals I’ve tried in person that sounded awesome on UA-cam.
I think I need one of these. I know you aren’t too big on Schecter, but if you could get your hands on a Jeff Loomis 7 string, Floyd or not, with his signature Blackouts, I think you’d be as pleasantly surprised as I was; I even ended up getting one. Also, random question, but what’s your dream car?
I've steered clear from distortion pedals for so long. The ones I used back when I first started learning were so bad. This is the first one I've checked out in years, hopefully I'll be able to give y'all a better answer between the Bogner, the Friedman, and this. So far all I can say is this one's real good lol
The buzz on this pedal is absolutely terrible. I don’t want to crush a anyones dreams, but this pedal is absolute garage even with a sound gate as the buzz is present even when playing. 😢
First I saw this pedal's review on Ola's channel, and it amazed me that it was connected in the effects loop... Regular distortion pedals destroy amps when connected there.
That moment when every guitar gear reviewer is reviewing the same pedal but you're waiting for hunter to upload one because you know it's gonna be the best one
Thomas Bellavere, the Ola Englund review is decent if you want to hear a more “metal” review. Hunters reviews are great though. Easily the favourite overall \m/
Can't say it sounds particularly great in the "unproduced" section (after the first 5 minutes). In fact, it kind of sounds like crap. Also, I couldn't tell any difference when you toggled from neutral to the red or blue channels. Maybe it needed to be at higher volume or something. In a highly-produced mix it might sound great, but then, doesn't everything? Just my two pennies.
Something to remember is I generally skew towards tones that are easier to work in a mix. So generally those are brighter and thinner guitar tones than what sounds awesome by itself. I let the bass and the drums have their own spots in the audio spectrum and fill out the mix haha
They're still a relatively new company so their amps aren't as prevalent as the big name brands at gigs. At NAMM they're everywhere (well at least at a lot of metal-related booths)
Sorry, but I’d throw that pos in the pond. Glad you said 99% of the time you wouldn’t config like this. I just hope people don’t buy this thing for the wrong reasons.
Serious question... who else has been listening to wayyy too much easycore lately?
Lol I have
Nah man, been exploring post-rock. Love the genre, there's some cool/weird stuff
Jack Williamson chunk no captain chunk
I love metal and all but something about easycore makes me smile
Serious question: who just googled easycore? Besides me.
i love how you showed us what it sounds like in front of the amp and in the loop , two thumbs up!! , i don't think other reviewers did that
Damn, that's some great playing. Keep up the great work man, you're killing it!
Thanks dude :)
Great video... but the shirt is not silly enough... so I might have to give it a thumbs down.... well, maybe not.
No one can compete with you, man! Why even try lol
hennig, behave yourself
Agufish i love seeing my favorite youtubers talk to each other
Was awesome seeing you on Phil's live chat. Just subscribed to your channel. Awesome stuff!
Happy to see you getting the gear hook ups with the heavy hitters like Bea and Ola, dude!
That's some good riffin bro liking it I just bought the Rev G3 bronze metallic Sweetwater exclusive oh yeah
I think every body that plays guitar on youtube just flooded youtube with demos of this pedal. Anyway great job!
Legit this is still one of my favorite songs you've ever composed on one of my favorite pieces of gear you've ever reviewed Hunter. A fukn +
The quality of this channel is mind blowing. Keep up the good work!!
Love the tones, especially in the front of the DSL, and how happy the demo track sounds.
Just ordered one
Can’t wait
Purchased! Can't wait!
best review of this pedal so far

Loving how happy the demos sound, makes me wanna listen to Andrew W.K.

Whatever you do... DON'T OPEN THAT PEDAL!!!!!!
Dude... 0.48 - 2.55 nice chops. that was fucking cool!
Sounds good on that one string!
Yes we get it! this one pedal is better than all the amps we own!!! lol
"Rabea did it." Said in a "Simpsons did it." voice.
MIC! noice
Ola did it lol
Henning did it!! Lol
Dude, i know this video is about the pedal, but i really liked that full mix track, like way more that it has the right to. put some powerful vocal and i would listen to that song to the death! :O Nice work men :)
You da best bro, big inspiration for me!
What fishmans would you recommend for stuff like slipknot and bring me the horizon. Modding my Ibanez Artist Gatorskin series!!! :D
So far, the Willie Adler set is my favorite, but you cannot go wrong with the Modern set. I'm wiring int he KSE set for my Eclipse right now!
I really like is one !!!! Great review Hunter !!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The riff demonstrating the pedal reminded me of Green Day's Whatsername
Nice video! Can you do a review of the cort gs axe?
Hey...just saw that you said it can be used as a preamp....I have a Jet City 50....so I’d plug it into the effects loop?
Could you do the squier contemporary strats? Preferably the active one
Yes! I gotta find one first though...
So is the preamp section like the vocal chords? And the amp section is like the diaphragm?
Gain seems usable all the way around. Seems the high eq and volume controls are only especially usable in limited ranges. I like it a lot. For a distortion pedal.

Agufish Marshall Code 50
Also, thanks, to all 3 of You hahaha
Great video
How will this do as a preamp straight into the return?
Next time I'll watch the whole video before commenting. Novel idea.
LOL, it's all good man :)
I've been curious about that. To use it as a preamp, you plug the output of the pedal into the return of the effects loop, correct? I've never heard of that, and want to try it, but don't want to roast anything.
Connor Bonnell it's the same as putting any other pedal in the loop
"Feels like it could withstand a minor nuclear apocalypse". I thought that was a great statement haha
We designed both our amps and pedals to function as great clubs in the Fallout universe.
REVV Generator amps sound like Mesa Boogies with the missing element. The Mark series lacks what the Recs have, and the Recs lack what the Mark series have. The Generator finds that nice middle ground and gives you both. The pedal sounds awesome but i need that Generator.
You deserve more subs
In the fx loop...can you control the amps preamp when this pedal is off?
When did you get a Les Paul custom?
I got mine in 2011 or 2012? I forgot... lol
The pedal sounds fucking amazing
Right? It's crazy!!
Hi men. Wich pedal do you think is better, revv or blackstar ht metal?
I wonder if it would sound good with the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier.
the best distortion!!!!!.
Literally days after I ordered a Generator 120 MKII, this pedal was announced...
So jelly, though. The things I would do for a Generator...
Agufish I had to do all the unspeakable things to get my hands on one. Next up is a Meshuggah amp...so many more unspeakable deeds.
Agufish sell the other 4 amps, it’d be worth it ;)
You wont regret it.
Can you do the Chapman ML2 Modern? The new Chapman line has one that looks pretty cool for $449.
I have literally asked them 952839045 times and they still won't send me one lol
Agufish That sucks. You make the best content and deserve more followers and subs. Your channel is the best!
Hey man, can u do the Jackson Mark Morton sig? Thanks for another great video :)
I have no idea what is going on with that model (the higher-end $1299 one). No one seems to carry it but Sweetwater, and Sam Ash has it listed as discontinued...
Agufish oh ok thanks anyway. Maybe people dont like the shape or something but I think it looks cool
1st Ola, then Rabea, now Hunter? Everybody is reviewing this pedal today lol. This pedal is pretty beast i must say 💯%
Yeah Revv sent them out to a good number of people, but today was the first day we were allowed to release a proper video on it!
Agufish I see. Impressive as usual sir 🔥🔥
Hey Agufish! I have a joyo zombie but I'm thinking of upgrading
I'm more of a shredder type of player what Amp would you recommend for home use?
Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister or Grandmeister Deluxe? Cleans and dirty are both kickass. The 40W versions can run cabs for gigs, but also can plug directly into your DAW for recording, 20W/5W/1W modes, etc. They're awesome!
sounds good but for that price I could buy a used all tube head or I'll cheap combo for that matter, killer playing though
How is this versus the Freidman BE?
I'll let you know when I get to try a Friedman! Someone should defo do a shootout lol
I was thinking the same thing small led lights
You know later on if we ever do a revision the LED really should changes colors, that's a good point.
this morning I saw Ola's vid on this pedal, then my favorite gear demo-er dose it on the same day \M/ btw but how would this work as a boost? (idk how much in advance this vid was but if you still have it how does it compare to ts9 or Precision D for boost)
I didn't find it that great as a boost. There's a lot of low-end and SO much gain, even when the gain knob is turned down lol. I found I was able to get better results with it used as a distortion pedal in front of a clean channel :)
Thank you!
They are insaine! Black magic in a box..
You should try out the new Ernie ball stingray guitar also Xbox or PlayStation
Aggression switch doesn’t seem to do much to me. I couldn’t hear a difference out front and it was very subtle when in the loop. But overall it sounds good
Need this
can you please make another demo of the G3 with the Precision Dive by Horizon Devices? I think they would be a good combination.
The Revv G3 and G4 blow away every other distortion pedal I've ever heard.
Sounds great but the controls don't really seem to do much, that would annoy me. I can hear no difference at all when you hit the aggression switch
I know you dont like pointy guitars, but what about the sterling majesty, its below 1k, would be interesting
Hey man.. Please suggest me a good electric guitar under $250.. Thanks.
Higher end Harley Benton :)
Agufish It's not available over here..Any other alternatives?
Thomann ships to any country in the world!
U need to try out the sawtooth guitar dude the white single cut it got Seymour pickups and for the price wow it more affordable
Turd Emoji??.Solid-sounding pedal..
Built-in Noise Gate would be cool but not a deal-breaker nice pedal
this pedal replicates the revv sound in a similar way friedman has managed to do it with their pedla line. very impressive stuff
Thanks Blake! Friedman's pedals are great.
Obviously Revv sent these to a bunch of UA-cam guys, because, suddenly, everyone and his brother is reviewing it. I would have to hear one of these in person before buying it. I’ve been strongly disappointed by pedals I’ve tried in person that sounded awesome on UA-cam.
UA-cam unsubscribed me from your channel
Lolol classic UA-cam... welcome back!
Agufish If it aint broke, fix it 1000 times
UA-cams motto
Have happend to me to. Thats why i check several time if i am sub'ed and checking if i have notification on.
You mean I can have the tone of a Revv Generator for 200 dollars. :')
Why do you put lace around the nut of your guitar
It eliminates overtones when recording! So when I stop playing, there isn't any "ringing"
Bogner ubershall or this I'm so torn
I've steered clear from distortion pedals for so long. The ones I used back when I first started learning were so bad. This is the first one I've checked out in years, hopefully I'll be able to give y'all a better answer between the Bogner, the Friedman, and this. So far all I can say is this one's real good lol
Am i the only one who could barely hear that pickslide?
Yeahhh there are a few guitar parts going on there so it kind of got lost, unfortunately :(
Wait, where's Pad???
Bossing it in the real (non-Internet) world lol
Whoa, good for him man! I thought he was just gone on some videos
Nah, he's still mixing! I'm just really bad at getting stems to him on schedule :(
I'll certainly be waiting for more Pad, he's an unseen icon of your channel...👌🏻
Don't believe anything Hunter says. He locked Pad up!
The buzz on this pedal is absolutely terrible. I don’t want to crush a anyones dreams, but this pedal is absolute garage even with a sound gate as the buzz is present even when playing. 😢
Man I really love your video editing style!
But you're right, you're listening too much easycore ahahah
Haha thanks!! And yeahhh.. it's low-key turning into a little problem
Not first
EDIT: Oh wait looks like I am lmao
Toasty same
149th
Тhe sound is very fresh. No character.
you should review the Sterling by Music Man JP 16 or any Sterling by Music Man. Sterling is the affordable line of music man if you haven't heard of
First I saw this pedal's review on Ola's channel, and it amazed me that it was connected in the effects loop... Regular distortion pedals destroy amps when connected there.
Damn Revv has sent one of these pedals to every guitar UA-camr 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah they shouldn't do this... Getting their name out there. What were they thinking?!
They know better than to send me one. I'll actually take it apart.
The Guitologist that's a demo I'd really like to see. Don't turn it on, take it apaaaaart.
Colin W Don't recall saying it was a bad move
its a preamp put it into a return its muddy into a front pre already on an amp
That moment when every guitar gear reviewer is reviewing the same pedal but you're waiting for hunter to upload one because you know it's gonna be the best one
Thomas Bellavere, the Ola Englund review is decent if you want to hear a more “metal” review. Hunters reviews are great though. Easily the favourite overall \m/
I love hunter's too but you gotta check out Rabea's for the baritone love
Hunter's Reviews =
Dude i swear you kinda look like StevieTerreberry nice review BTW.
Don’t know if it was the guitar, the pick ups or what but it didn’t sound right. A bit thin.
Comparison to the precision Drive
RIP my ear drums at 8:32
Can't say it sounds particularly great in the "unproduced" section (after the first 5 minutes). In fact, it kind of sounds like crap. Canadian pride!!!
Does anybody but youtubers play Revv amps? This is literally the only place I have seen em...
They're still a relatively new company so their amps aren't as prevalent as the big name brands at gigs. At NAMM they're everywhere (well at least at a lot of metal-related booths)
Probably because they are being sent to UA-camrs for free. We are watching ads and they are not being disclosed properly.
Gain knob and aggression switch pretty much useless...
Still like my dark matter distortion a bit more though
Sorry, but I’d throw that pos in the pond. Glad you said 99% of the time you wouldn’t config like this. I just hope people don’t buy this thing for the wrong reasons.
thin strings for a drop tuning
Matt heafy uses .09-.40 for drop c# its not all about guage its about your attack
william wulffleff 9-40 ahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahah no wonder they sound terrible
Wok and woll \m/
bit harsh. dunno if it s the pedal or the mix
Dude... That outro...
serial # 00010...epic
This pedal must truly be metal because as of me typing this comment right now there are 666 likes on this video.
