2019 goals: Learn a Shawn Tubbs lick. Was in a guitar shop and somebody played a riff, somebody shouted "you been listening to Shawn Tubbs?" we all nodded with approval.
You and Pete Thorn show what happens when great players get their hands on great equipment. Doesn’t matter what section of the market this pedal appears to be aimed at, you guys make amazing sounds that show the rest of us what options we have. Bravo - great review.
That whole composition was killer. Loved how you use different guitars to give us an idea of how the pedal sounds. The PRS and Charvel were amazing. Your playing as always does an incredible job of highlighting the sonic possibilities of that pedal. Great review Shawn!
It sounds amazing! And it's incredible how you made it sound like something rock players could definetely use, while Ola Englund showed how awesome it is for metal. As always, very cool demo!
Just got this pedal and I'm really shocked how good it sounds... one interesting thing that I noticed (I might be wrong tho) the pedal reacts to the amp you plug it in... when I use it with my 5150 the pedal sounds like the drive of my amp, when I use it with the PRS Mt15 the pedal sounds more modern WTF, it's like I have another channel on my amps, it feels like the pedal adapts to the amp you plug it in.....
This pedal is awesome. I can play anything on this pedal. USE THE VOLUME KNOB AND TONE KNOB. THE LIGHT? HOLY COW, IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS, YOU CANT SEE THE KNOBS. This is my main pedal...
@@ShawnTubbs Right on, thanks for rippling notes. BTW, if we have pedals to send you to review, would that be possible? Not something I made or endorse, but stuff I have that I think you might enjoy reviewing. Let me know if that's an option.
The G3 is more compressed with maybe a bit less gain. The G4 is more open and less forgiving with more gain. They're both killer and would easily compliment each other on a pedalboard.
I decided Im getting the Carl Martin Plexi pedal for 68-88 and The Revv Red for all the more modern tones .......... Because the Revv can Not get a plexi tone & a Plexi can not get a modern metal tone on its own. ....... So I will have BOTH & alternate between pedals . Best of all worlds imo
Hey man, I just got mine in the mail and I am struggling to get any distortion out of it. I'm running it to the front of my Katana 50's clean channel, and playing it through a PRS. Gain at 12 and aggression off I get pretty much a clean sound with a bit of breakup, and with red aggression and gain at max I get the equivalent of what other people get with no aggression and gain at 12. I am dumbfounded by what's going on here.
Can you get any lower gain tones out of it? Like soft rock or blues?(just want to see how versatile it is) I can’t decide between this and the strymon riverside
@@ShawnTubbs Orange traditionally only made tube amps, but finally figured out how to make a solid state amp sound like a tube amp (or so they say...). It does sound really good, but when I heard that G4, I was like "Ok, I need that in my life!" :-)
Shawn Tubbs "Demolition" album. A collection of short but sweet guitar jams. shawntubbs.bandcamp.com/releases

This is my favorite playing from you so far man the section with the PRS is absurd!
Revv Amps can't wait till u guys get em out there!.... Already have a preorder in on one!...
Finally a metal pedal worth buying aside from the vh4 pedal... I think this g4 is gonna crush it!....
Thanks Michael!
just ordered one. Can't wait to try it out in the studio
Finally, a tuned guitar playing music through this pedal! I was starting to think it only worked in drop 'h' tuning, or whatever...LOL! Well done.
Yes its E standard old school people like me wants to hear. I really can't relate to the other stuff.

Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! The "Charvel" was actually a Friedman Cali. ;)
Whoah, a Shawn Tubbs Dive Bomb (1:07)!! Love it! Great demo and amazing playing as always, Mr. Tubbs, hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
From "Hey, this looks interesting..." to "Jesus, that's some great phrasing!!" in 30 seconds. Nice job!
Excellent review and playing as always!
I love the sound of that pedal! Thanks for the demo.
Thanks so much for watching!!
Very nice Slash like tone. Awesome demo as always. A Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours, Shawn!
Really enjoy your reviews and your playing is stellar. Love that you use ONE guitar and run the pedal through its whole range. Thx

As always, very cool demo!
I really dig Ola's channel! Thanks so much for watching!
Dang it! I just bought the G3. Great vid, Mr. Tubbs. Happy New Years to you and the fam.
I just discovered you, Shawn. Killer playing. Great demo. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching Gabriel and I truly appreciate the kind words!

Wow ! What an intro .
Shawn great playing as always. Is there any chance you can do a lesson video to show your viewers some of your signature licks?
Thanks so much, Brett! At some point, I'm going to try and do that.
Thanks. I just bought this pedal and love it! PS, I saw another person review this pedal, but you did a much better job! 🎸👍
Very nice with the EQ options, and way better than the standard one-knob hi/lo EQ option.
Thanks for watching!

1st time I've seen that Friedman red flame top w/floyd. Saved the shred for that one I see? Sounds great Shawn. Great playing as always.
It's a really great guitar. It's just on loan but I really dig it! Thanks for watching!
Awesome demo as always! Hope to meet you at NAMM!
Wow Shawn. Just WOW.
Sounds awesome Shawn. You added some killer licks as well. But the burning question is: how does the G4 compare to the G3?
The G3 is more compressed with maybe a bit less gain. The G4 is more open and less forgiving with more gain. They're both killer and would easily compliment each other on a pedalboard.
Wich is better for a Fender style Amp like Princeton or Deluxe Reverb ? G3 or g4 ?
They're both great into a Fender voiced amp. The G3 will be tighter and the G4 will feel a bit more compressed.
@@ShawnTubbs thanks !

That doesn't sound right. Reach out to REVV Amps and I'm sure they'll get you sorted out!
definitely got that Marshall mid growl in the box
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Great demo.
Can you get any lower gain tones out of it? Like soft rock or blues?(just want to see how versatile it is) I can’t decide between this and the strymon riverside
You can by leaving the aggression switch in the middle and running the gain lower.
I am not hearing a lot of that High gain hiss noise with this pedal. Seems quiet for a high gain pedal.
It's quiet for sure. Thanks for watching!
Love this Channel,,,thanks Shawn🎸🎸🎶🎶🇺🇸
Do we listen to a real cab or is it the OxBox ?
I used the OX box. Thanks for watching!
Is it a factory preset of the OX?
That is one of my presets. It's very close to my mic set up. 4x12 Punch Cab, Royer/57 mic combo.
Thank you, Shawn.
Fucking amazing !!
I have a solid state Orange combo amp. Would this pedal work well with it and sound good?
I don't have any experience with that amp but i would think it would sound great.

This is an “amp in a box” style pedal so I’m sure it will sound great in almost every amp. I have yet to try it through my katana.
That opening track had me doing a slightly modified Watusi dance. Similar to the one Howie Mandel made famous but not entirely the same.
Message from my wife PLEASE STOP LOL, now i need to find a dealer in or near Hamilton On.
Dude, Revv is in Canada!.....Just buy the G4 straight from their website!
