Revv G3 Pedal: revvamps.bigcartel.com/product... A genuine surprise, it must be dark voodoo: A high gain distortion pedal that actually sounds good! Revv G3 is based on the metal channel of their Generator 120 amplifier and is made in Canada, presumably from bewitched talismans of pure evil.
Bud what the hell you mean "finally"? vintage Traynor amps are the absolute BOMB. Proud since the '60s :) Oh and also : Ward-Beck studio/broadcast audio gear :)
Many more indeed! Let us not forget Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Martyr and Exciter! Oh and not metal but Skinny Puppy are revered world-wide and are badass too! Be proud, brothers!
Just discovered (and subscribed to) this channel and dude...you are by FAR the best at what you do with the content you make. I've basically sacked an entire day at work watching your vids. Please keep up the strong work, my friend!
Great demo Colin!!! The only thing keeping me from immediately buying this pedal is that I own the amp. I still may end up getting it as I own other amps as well.
Playing all the Trivium. It's surprisingly good. I was all set up to be as disappointed as I usually am with metal pedals, but bugger me sideways if it didn't flip that frown upside down.
That's great - after hearing both your review and Rabea's I really want one of these... even though I have no use for one and can't afford to blow 200 quid on a pedal.
I don't think selling a bunch of my shite pedals (including the worst flanger in the world) and my EQ pedal will cover it! My mrs would kill me if I took it out of savings.
Guys, new concept: Scottish prog djent. It's all groovy n such like Periphery or Abstracts But only scottish people can understand the words Also will feature celtic rock influences, and Biffy.
I’ve been running a 50 watt Marshall jmd:1 and when I want to play real heavy metal I’ve been using a light distortion channel and stacking a metal zone (on very low gain setting) in front and I’ve been getting pretty cool sounding results. I’d like to try the same with this pedal. It does have an impressive tight tone on its own. (Where the metal zone does not. 😂😎)
sounds a bit trebly for my taste but that's probably fixable. i suppose my main question would be; how does this compare to the mxr evh 5150 overdrive pedal? i already have one of those and it sounds pretty damn good.
Hey Colin. I love your videos and I love sharing them with my friends. I was wondering if you could do a review of the Orange Omec Teleport pedal. Keep up the good work man!
This pedal in front of an already bright or high treble amp/guitar...you cannot use the settings for the treble he uses....it will literally break your ear. I have to set the treble at like 10 o clock. Otherwise it turns into twang at about 11-12 followed by the 1 o clock ear bleed. It's really deceiving almost because when you go from like 12 to 10 o clock on the treble it sounds too muffled. Yet after setting the stuff down and coming back later, it sounds like you never turned the treble down...really weird when it comes to sounds.
If I wasn't already pleased with my amps tone, I'd by buying one of these. Perhaps i will get one at some point and dial it in different to get a different gain sound
The fact you have a fan blowing your hair is simply majestic....im as amazed as if i have seen a new Colins Sexy Guitars Tshirt. I hope i'll have a chance to meet you sometime (nohomo)
If you're familiar with it, how would you say this pedal stacks up against the Horizon Devices Precision Drive that Misha Mansoor helped to develop? Obviously that's used more as a pedal that tightens up the low end and bumps up the gain of an already driven amp to get a high gain sound instead of being a strictly high gain style signal like the Revv, but I'd love to see how they compare since they accomplish very similar functions.
CSGuitars That’s what that was! I thought I heard something on there from Ember; I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it! Niiice. Hey, question: I was wondering if you might consider doing a review on another overdrive pedal: the MXR EVH 5150. I know what it can do, and I’ve been able to dial in some awesome tones from it. But I was wondering if you would be able to do a review video comparing to the TS-9. I took your advice from another video and essentially have been using the EVH as a booster; similar to the application of the TS-9, but I’d like to get your take on how they stack up against one another. Just figured I’d ask. Cheers Colin! Keep it heavy! 🤘🏻
It's a great pedal that's for sure, I'm also considering buying it, but Colin - with distortion pedal this good, how the hell did you manage to make your tone thinner than a straw?
Do you think this is something that could go directly into a mixer, sans amp style? I have a joyo British amp sym petal I use as my main 'amp', I'd like to pair up with this, hmm well
Hey dude. That pedal does sound awesome, but i've always had a big problem with distortion pedals as a whole. If you can get that sort of aggression from the pedal alone, then doesn't it make buying a metal amp head completely pointless ? Wouldn't it be much easier for metal guys to get a bluesy sounding clean amp head and then run the G3 through that ?
I see an amp as the main core of your sound that usually sounds great on its own but the cool thing about pedals is that they let you mix things up and experiment with different tonal flavors and signal chains. To me the beauty of music is that you can be a purist who is happy with just one amp and no pedals and sound fantastic or you can be a mega-gearhead with multiple amps, pedals and other gear with all kinds of crazy signal routing and also sound fantastic but in a different way. Hope this helps. Peace.....
4:28 is that a bit of jangly unamped electric guitar string i'm hearing? I thought it was a sound in my room, it was so quiet. Thanks for making me look around like an idiot. Great video 10/10
I mainly play metal with distorsion obvioulsy but people say i need a overdrive pedal to keep it tight and i play som high gain lead too which o hoped a distorsion could help me with but people say overdrive is better is it worth for me to get it ot should i just buy that revv pedal(if it can do all i Said)

Come on. Everyone on UA-cam? Please? Please compare this to amt b2 pedal.
i am going to replace my modded metal zone with this (I am not joking about the metal zone). this sounds good to me
arnyarny77 Metal zone should sound good as preamp.
"Tighter than a duck's arse" is a phrase I will now keep in my lexicon for the rest of my life. Thanks, Colin!
Obviously Colin's never met any duck I've been around ;)
Great, now i will be able to go all the gain while also being haired!
Your playing’s improved, Colin! Sounding great man
Dude! Your best song ever!
Thanks, for something I threw together really quickly it turned out rather good.
I'd definitely buy this if you an album like this
0:31 when you are playing a killer riff and your ki starts to increase
wow, very impressive indeed... tight is the word! these guys nailed it. finally I can be proud of being Canadian...
You guys have RUSH and Neil Young, Justin "Cat Scratch" Bieber and national healthcare. Be proud brother.
Bud what the hell you mean "finally"? vintage Traynor amps are the absolute BOMB. Proud since the '60s :) Oh and also : Ward-Beck studio/broadcast audio gear :)
We have ANVIL, Helix, Kick Axe, Killer Dwarfs, Lee Aaron, Annihilator, Voivod, Kittie, Razor and many more. @@russwilson2305
@@MorleyRobertson1975 Ya had me at ANVIL and Voivod.
Many more indeed! Let us not forget Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Martyr and Exciter! Oh and not metal but Skinny Puppy are revered world-wide and are badass too! Be proud, brothers!
I love the idea of distortion pedals becoming a legitimately viable option as distortion, hope this starts to become normal. Also love your vids man!
They always have been. Dont you know randy rhoads?
The best review of this pedal. Great playing.
I like the Trivium riffs you snuck in there.
I thought I heard 'Dying in your Arms' in there. 🤘
Wow, it sounds so much better in front of the amp! Great pedal and great video!! :)
Just discovered (and subscribed to) this channel and dude...you are by FAR the best at what you do with the content you make. I've basically sacked an entire day at work watching your vids. Please keep up the strong work, my friend!
I was sold when you started playing Trivium \m/
Isa Tariq same
Getting right back into early Trivium at the moment, the sound of this pedal suits that style very well.
Boat! Rudder! Strange! Mountains!
Ascendancy is SO great!
Amazing playing Colin. You make it look easy too. Fab tones and great sound without tons of shredding wankery.
Watched this video. Three hours later, I was still air guitaring to that tune in the shower. Great work, Colin!
0:34 fan settings plz ?
All the -gain- torque!
Dude, having watched several reviews on this pedal, I gotta say your tone was by far my favorite. Awesome intro demo track as well!
Wow.... just... fucking wow!
That completely floored me, and I am absolutely going to get my hands on one of these.
Great demo Colin!!! The only thing keeping me from immediately buying this pedal is that I own the amp. I still may end up getting it as I own other amps as well.
Those low end pick squeals at around 3 minutes are amazing!
These last few vids have been absolutely killing it, loving the energy put into them
We're you playing a bit of Trivium there? Seen a few reviews of this now and it does sound good.
That old guitarist dilemma: don't need it, can't afford it, but still want it. I've got a long list of gear that fits that description.
I don't think selling a bunch of my shite pedals (including the worst flanger in the world) and my EQ pedal will cover it! My mrs would kill me if I took it out of savings.
you make the best demo songs on youtube now! (but to be honest i miss the flute from the last video)
Man, I really like your channel, both the content and your personality. Keep rocking!
Guys, new concept:

"Prog djent" lol
You might as well be saying Prog twice. Djent is just the bastardized term for Progressive Metal.
I thought it was all Scottish anyway
Everyone on UA-cam seems to have upped their game recently. This rocks!
Ohhhhhh those Trivium riffs sounded so fricking good!!!!
Great video, Colin!!!
Inspiring little pedal, eh? That's hands down the best song I've ever heard you play, man. Thumbs up for playing a little Trivium, too.
Trivium baby! yeah! Just ordered mine, can't wait to enjoy it.

Just got mines today man this pedal is freekn sick no lie
It's not bad actually...
Just needs more gain...
N less mids...
the Eiger Advocate SLAAAAYEEER
No. Mids are good.
Luis Barrera na scoop that shit 10 0 10 for life
Sounds awesome!! Gotta give this one a try!! The jams were sweet too, great work!!!
Hey Colin where can i send you more fans for your hair?
I am serious when I say that hair and the fan thing was the the shit. The super tight riffing probably sealed the deal.
Congrats in advance on 100k subs!!
Very Random, but I love how the beginning jam is in Cm. Sounds very fresh to our Em (Drop D at best) tuned ears.
Now that's quite a cool device thingy? Top job mate!!
sounds a bit trebly for my taste but that's probably fixable. i suppose my main question would be; how does this compare to the mxr evh 5150 overdrive pedal? i already have one of those and it sounds pretty damn good.
Trivium+CSGuitars=Hell yeah
I put my phone down while cuddling with my dog, then he pressed this video #noregretsdoggo
Sounds awesome btw!
Sick name ;)
Hey Colin. I love your videos and I love sharing them with my friends. I was wondering if you could do a review of the Orange Omec Teleport pedal. Keep up the good work man!
Yeah man!! Congrats on those 100k+ subscribers. Well deserved and earned!! Any celebration I missed? Or you are too good for that? +Csguitars?
AWESOME PLAYING MAN!
That sound is verry nice indeed, the solo also sounded nice.
Best review yet!
Man, this thing is fucking aweso...
*looks at price*
Oh... *backs away with a tear in the eye*
Hi.. excellent video. I do not stop watching it..... I have a question.. What is the brand of every guitar you use?.. Thank you...
This pedal in front of an already bright or high treble amp/guitar...you cannot use the settings for the treble he uses....it will literally break your ear. I have to set the treble at like 10 o clock. Otherwise it turns into twang at about 11-12 followed by the 1 o clock ear bleed. So many awesome pedals get in the way of affording an amazing amp. My G.A.S is throught the roof with this.
Why does the power light on the orange head repeatedly turn off at the end of shots in the playthrough?
Totally digging the nuclear radiation strap. Fits the heavy metal style perfectly.
Never heard you play some Trivium before! Nice! Some nostalgia!
Worthy of Trivium! Great review, thanks!
Love the trivium riffs
Hell yeah, almost at 100k subs!
Best distortion pedal I’ve ever heard!
Do a shootout video of Revv G3 vs a Metal Zone.
Just kidding.
How about reviewing the Wampler Dracarys and doing a shootout between the two?
Good idea, I'll have a word with Mr Wampler.
I'd like to see that as well
Make it vs the Friedman BE too while you’re at it but good luck getting Friedman to send you one
METALZONE
ALL THE GAIN
NO MIDS
TRVE KVLT
The Dracarys is a cool pedal too. I like lots of Brian's amp-in-a-box pedals. Dual Fusion and Plexi Drive rock.
If I wasn't already pleased with my amps tone, I'd by buying one of these. Perhaps i will get one at some point and dial it in different to get a different gain sound
I've been looking at klones, blues overdrive, blues drivers, and a plethora of hugh gain pedals, but i think i may just get the G3
The fact you have a fan blowing your hair is simply majestic....im as amazed as if i have seen a new Colins Sexy Guitars Tshirt. I hope i'll have a chance to meet you sometime (nohomo)
Finally youre about to get to 100k subs

Nice Trivium riffs! I'm seeing them on Saturday (:
The Revv stuff sound so good!
0:31 Does the fan come with it?
Great playing this video!
Immense playing dude! What gauge stings you running? Looks like cotton thread!
Nice hat tip to Trivium; throwing down some Dying In Your Arms, and some Pull Harder! 🤘🏻
Little bit of Requiem in there too
CSGuitars That’s what that was! I thought I heard something on there from Ember; I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it! Niiice. Love the riff
That pedal is sick bruh love it
3:23 - I couldn't identify why I always gave a childish giggle when Colin plays this tune.
Then I looked it up and remembered...
BOOOOAT! RUDDER!!
I'd like to hear it through that orange micro dark you reviewed last year
Fuck I loved your describtion of the R&D team from Revv.
I've gone one...it's great
what's that cbs string mute? a friend of mine and I was looking for that thing forever!
It's a great pedal that's for sure, I'm also considering buying it, but Colin - with distortion pedal this good, how the hell did you manage to make your tone thinner than a straw?
Love the trivium tunes
super pedal !!Thanx
The fan sold it! Metal hair!
Colin, you left out some important details. What signal chain did you use to achieve the sound in the video?
2:25
Duh. I missed that. Thanks!
Would you rather have the Revv3 or a peavey 6506 mh?
Will Revv g3 sound good with Boss katana 50? With only a noise suppressor.
Nearly jumped out of my chair when I heard Trivium!!!
I actually love the diversity one can get from this
Do you think this is something that could go directly into a mixer, sans amp style? I have a joyo British amp sym petal I use as my main 'amp', I'd like to pair up with this, hmm well
Does it come with a wind machine?
Hair was on point!
Can you do the ti boost? It's Tony iommis treble booster!
jpfan1992 YES HE NEEDS TO DO THIS
What's the retail price roughly?
Hi men. Wich pedal do you think is better, revv or blackstar ht metal?
Okay. Try out this pedal with some of those T H E C C P E C C S though
Cool riff!
What is a ring modulator? Do I need one?
have you reviewed the evh 5150 distortion pedal yet?
can it act as a preamp too? wanting to buy one.
Hey dude. That pedal does sound awesome, but i've always had a big problem with distortion pedals as a whole. then theres guys like me who stumbled onto a great tube head (ibanez tsa15h) but its gain free all the way up to 100%vol
The pedal IS impressive.....
Thanks!~
4:28 is that a bit of jangly unamped electric guitar string i'm hearing? I thought it was a sound in my room, it was so quiet. Thanks for making me look around like an idiot.

The power from the gain was moving his hair.
GREAT GREAT REVIEW
