I find the attack too much where I want to pull back into other other tones so I went G3. I support any Revv players anyways. We keep them in business.
I have the G20, which is the G3, and I use the G4 as well, both with the Tilt OD. I just love Revv all around lol.. Great video and it gave me a couple ideas for changing for chain up for trying new tones. Good stuff...and holy crap, that clean sound from the combo..... jeez
Excellent review-I really like both the G3 & the G4-and am trying to see which one is the best for me.The G3 seems more well-rounded but The G4 although has more gain seems to be more tube like .I 'll probably pick up both & see which suits my set up best.
Cheers! Yeah, they're different beasts for sure. Both are super high quality and sound amazing, so it's kind of down to personal taste... trying both and then choosing is the way forward! We'd pick the G3 over the G4 most days, but that's just us. Team H&K
Thanks! We get lots of questions about this stuff and the pedals were right there, so we thought we'd give it a go! They all sounded great - certainly a different gain flavor for everyone there :)
Awesome, hope you love it when you get to play it! We've tried a couple of Tubescreamer-type pedals through it, works great on clean for bluesey sounds and also tightens the Lead and Ultra channels up great for metal! We haven't shot a video with a TS pedal yet, but we'll get something done soon :)
Ooh, good question! We're not 100% certain, but we remember it was a pretty special Custom Shop Les Paul they had in the Thomann video studio that day. We checked and all the similar models online have Custombucker Alnico III unpotted pickups in them, so we'd hazard a pretty good guess that they're those ones :) Otherwise for a definitive answer we'd need to ask Kris from Thomann ;) Glad you liked the video!
@@HughesandKettneramps thanks, thats a good start. My bandmate has 490r/t set currently and is looking for something more. Ill show him the video and he may come back with a black spirit. Love your amps.
Thanks a lot, we're glad to hear it! Yeah, the LP sounded great through the combo too, really fat but also crisp and clear. Not flubby or muffled at all, as can sometimes happen with humbuckers at higher gain. The Revv pedals helped too of course, but this guitar and the pickups were totally on-point.
That's an awesome idea! The OD-200 looks like a killer piece of kit for pretty much the same price as one of the Revvs. We'll have to check one out for sure!
Pls help! I just got the G3 but it sounds hollow, like I'm playing through a tin can, whereas my MXR Fullbore Metal sounds full and complete. Mind you I'm not a tech guy so I may be doing something wrong.
The Revv G3 is a killer! It's also a preamp, you have to run it through the amp, it's not like the metal zone that you need to run in the effects loop.
I will be buying the G3 And a Carl Martin Plexi pedal ..... What the hell else would ya ever need. Want awesome Vintage use this one, want Brutal modern use this one. Screw the expenive amps.
Ha ha, we demo products we like! The Revv pedals sound awesome through our amps, and we get a lot of questions about exactly that, so we thought we'd shoot it with Joss. At the end of the day, we're guitarists too, so why not? (We're good friends with the Revv boys too, by the way, no competition there!)
The amp obviously does a lot more than is shown in this video! We get your point in that there are cheaper options out there, but there's nothing that gets close to Black Spirit 200 in the price/performance stakes!* * Our opinion, others may vary ;)
@@HughesandKettneramps Sure. 799Eur for an amp only to power up the Revv Pedals is too expensive, there are a lot cheaper options out there for making them loud. Pearls before swine :-)
We're with you on that one! Because they're preamp pedals you can also just use a power amp with them and run them into a cab/speaker - we've heard this live and it sounds top!
lol. The black spirit has a ton of features and sounds much better than the boss katana which is the only thing really similar to it. I have a katana and am selling it for the black spirit.
my Boss metalzone crushed the g3 I just bough big time so it will be for sale. even tweeking both pedals for a good while with my cousin playing amazing riffs with my other cousin there listening. I got a perfect just perfect beefy smooth and tight distortion that just gives you eargasm they both felt the same way. the metalzone is just the best and soooo versatile too. to bad but the revv is crap and when I have time it's getting sold. just trying to help. I had the metalzone way back when but got into tube amps and mods but now I want both so the metalzone is back. glad they didnt triple in price lol they certainly could have because they are the best because the 6 buttons that drastictly changes the type of dist you get and that just amazing. smooth round gritty perfect distortion at least 5 types too boot. Why waste 4 times the money what used metalzone are cheap and 10 times better.
I can only speak for the G4. Because that's the one I have. If you're into metal I highly recommend the G4. This pedal changed my life. 🤘🏼💀🖤
I find the attack too much where I want to pull back into other other tones so I went G3. I support any Revv players anyways. We keep them in business.
Production tip, gate the vocal mics during playing to avoid phasing issues. It'll really make the tone of the amp shine through.

YES !! " It ain't like that" !! One of my favorite A.I.C. riffs of all time. So fun to play !! 🤘🤘 Nice demo.. btw. Love the G3.
Were you playing them through the clean channel or the fx loop?

I bought the G3 over the G4 in 2022.
great demo all 3 pedals are fantastic
Be interesting to see what it sounds like to the jayo Dark flame $80 to the revv $375
Awesome vid! Thanks for the comparison!
Thanks! We get lots of questions about this stuff and the pedals were right there, so we thought we'd give it a go! They all sounded great - certainly a different gain flavor for everyone there :)
I‘m really pumped to get the bs200 later in August! Are you Planning any vids with ts808 Type Pedals?

Looking forward to seeing it :)
They sound really badass
Will it Chug? The Revv G3 is my pedal! It will!
what do they sound like with
the Boss Katana mk2 100 watt amp
what do these pedals sound like with
The Boss
Katana 100w 2x12 amps?
Do I hear hiss coming off the G3 with gain at 12?
Yes, t'is the amp for sure! That G3 is packing some serious heat!
Oh she's very noisy
I have a smaller 30wt amp, which one would work better for me I play a Wolfgang 99 Peavy?
Hi William, which amp, and most importantly, what kind of music do you want to play? Let us know and we'll advise you :)
Are these going the amps loop,.how did you wire it up ?
Just wondering what pups are in that paul? Great vid.

Would these pedals still be brutakl running it thru a totally clean channel?? and whats the difference between 3 & 4 ?
Can you guys do a Revv G3 vs Boss OD 200 video please...

You’re a victim of marketing. Most if not all of these videos for this pedal are PAID advertisements.
@@bohdilama maybe
Have you tried recording them and see how they sound in the mix? I'm pretty sure the fullbore metal will disappear in a band context
Are you running it into the clean channel or the effects return?

Sounds great but I love my H&K Tri Amp Mark3 :)
Well then you've no need for these pedals then, with that beast! Great score Daniel, there's nothing out there that tops the Mark 3 :)

is his hair grey?
We think it was officially some kind of platinum shade, but yes, it was grey ;)
I am very confused by this video, why is H&K doing promos for REVV amps? Very nice demo though

can you do a snake oil pedal demo?
Ooh, we've never tried them. We'll see if we can get a hold of some and get some demos done!
G3 sold!
Damn, we're doing pretty good business for Revv pedals on this video ;) Great pedals though, and well worth it! Our favorite is also the G3 :)
