they swapped it out for an STi box i believe so im not too worried, STi usually do alright with their transmissions
fabulousprofound STi 6 speeds can handle 450kw at the wheels before they start shredding 4th which is some serious power.
haden tate 450kw is an exaggeration max they can handle is like 350-380

I'm from the States and actually quite jealous I had an old El camino which is basically a holden ute but they stopped selling them here in the 80's. I'd love to have a truck bed on something that gets more than 20 mpgs lol and isn't huge

ummm, Season 3? its already there.
the 2009 version of the r35 has hit 11.6 seconds on a standing quarter mile but the updated 2011 version had a new launch system that chopped the 0-60 time by 0.5 seconds.
and yeah, Gramps almost clocked 11 seconds. Nissan always wins.
Cody Rucker Sure the R-35 is heavy, most new Nissans are, hell most new cars even, but its hard to compare a 600-700hp evo to a stock GT-R. But, you can't deny what tuning companies have done with the GT-R, like AMS, last time I checked they had a 2000hp GT-R with sub 8 sec 1/4 miles.
Watching the difference on the launch between the final S2000 vs. MX-5 run and and the Gramps vs. S2000 run did a good job of highlighting just how fast Gramps is. And... it's a little hard to tell on camera, but is looks like that was on a wet track to boot.
Watching the builds on all three cars this year has been fascinating and great fun. I can't wait to see what MCM has in store for 2015.

coscorrodrift its as fast as the dodge challenger hellcat srt package = 70.000$ and gramps as far as i know was way cheaper and is 4wd
NotIrishRider Gramps was under 20k AUS dollars. I don't remember when they said it but I think they said something about 15k in passing. So they didn't directly say it but from what they said it was definitely under 20.
Onyx Leigion but you have to remember they got turbos worth 1000 for free and alot of parts with discounts from sponsors average bob will not make a car like this for under 20k

love how they make fun of the s2000 when its basically stock with nitrous hitting high 13's which is very impressive going up against a swapped turbocharged inline 6 cylinder with exhaust, full tune and gutted interior subaru which hits 11's. Lets play fair here and turbo that s2000, get better tires, and full tune and line them up again. I bet that s2000 would be just a tad faster with far less work than that subaru wagon...
unless they dont put the gear restriction on the Subaru, cos he wont beat Gramps in an unrestricted drag without thousands sent on it and even then :s

He should just LS swap it already. But he probably won't do that. If he wants to stick with the stock engine he can atleast get forged internals and a larger turbo to get around 300hp.
needs to mazda fe3 swap the miata, 500+whp on stock internals would be a rocket in that thing
superbarnie LS swap into an MX-5 isn't legal in Australia, engine is too high of a displacement.
I think they mentioned somewhere in the build stages of the MX5 that the power level they got is about the most you can have and retain reliability.

I love cars. I may not know anything under the hood. But I LOVE them. My friend thinks she knows everything about fucking cars and It pisses me off. The only reason she thinks she knows everything is because her bf is a mechanic. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't give two shits about your car if it wasn't for your boyfriend. I drive a 2000 eclipse, it's not a fast car by any means, but I love driving it. She bashes on it so much, but she can't be talking when she has automatic accord, when she can't even drive stick. Idk, I just hate know it alls.

Ehhh...slap a V6 turbo or even a V8 into the old MX5 and see who's laughing. I've seen some seriously ridiculous V8 MX5s and I've seen some seriously ridiculous turbocharged S2Ks but for the power to weight ratio you just can't beat a V8 MX5, until you do a V8 swap on a S2k...I think I might've just confused myself...

+Robert Keeton Shiiiiitttttt... Turn up the boost in the MX5.. If memory serves, their MX5 was making like 200rwhp on 10psi. The 1.6 motors are happy and reliable with closer to 250rwhp.

A stock NSX? It would get destroyed by Gramps. The early models were mid 13s at best, the late models run high12s. It'd need to be a modded NSX.
If gramps can beat a Ferrari 360 Modena and a Gallardo I'm pretty sure it will eat an NSX.

Pushbike-ist here. I haven't learnt to drive yet, and I don't own anything with four wheels yet. I've been into cars since I was very young, I grew up playing Gran Turismo and remember literally pissing myself when I saw my first Subaru Impreza (It was the cooking model, not the WRX), and Nissan Skyline (It was a RB20 four-door R32). I'm always looking out for nice or oddball cars, always take an earphone out or tell the person with me to shut up a sec while an F430 or a DB9 goes past, and I love the sounds, smells and poring over power outputs, top speeds, and watching stuff like /DRIVE and MCM. I feel compelled to buy a sticker and put it on my bike or something, maybe I'll get to my campus in five minutes! Love your channel!

tune b Different grip or altitude maybe? Different drag strips can vary in times with the same car by over 1 second. That S2000 made over 230 hp on a dyno which is well over stock.

Marty just needs to rebuild the bottom end of the mx5 and up the boost... h-beam rods and forged low compression pistons. 8.0:1CR and about 25 psi boost. or the current turbo's max
Moogs take on hobbies is brilliant, no matter if you have a 7 second supra or an 18 second corolla, make the best with it and have a blast! Don't put others down and don't be put down by others, have fun with everything!
