What is priceless about this scene is she goes in a split second from Yakuza butchery and enforcement to polite, unaccented businesslike stewardess English like she’s warning you not to forget to fasten your seatbelt on a jet...
She also enjoys going out for drinks at Charlie Brown’s with her subordinates. She knows how to gain loyalty!

Because as said in the very video, they were their best friend-lawyer and personal bodyguard respectively and the men were not as close as them. Those two are with her in everything and will support and enjoy everything oren does

I find the man in frame with O-Ren at 3:32 interesting. He can't be more than 35 years old yet he's both a Boss _and_ seated so close to O-Ren, which implies high stature (they do _not_ seat attendees randomly at functions such as these). He's probably the most dangerous person in that room; probably equal to O-Ren.

Just notice he was also the person allowed to refill O-Ren drink. Not just anyone would be allowed to do that for the head boss.

3:18 While comical, I don't think it was the guy cooling himself off as much as it was a hostile sign of aggression. It was only when I started practicing Shaolin Nam Pai Chuan Kung Fu that I learned the O.G *Chinese fan was actually a deadly weapon lined with razor blades.* Opening it that quickly would slice through the neck and rent flesh like a hot knife through butter. Wonder if that was a little nod to them being mandatory among the crime council as an intentional *constant reminder of Oren's Chinese heritage?* ;)

While I won't encourage you to act as extremely as O-Ren, this is actually how you handle abusers and bullies correctly. If somebody tries to sit on you in front of others, make an example out of them. I'm not saying kill them, but show them in a very loud and direct way that you will not tolerate that kind of behavior. If you let them abuse you once, they will do it again. It also sends a message to everyone else that you won't fight back, which will invite even more abuse. I promise you, NOBODY fucked with O-Ren after this show of strength. In her world, killing would be a necessary display of authority, but to us normal people a fist to the face should suffice.
That only really works assuming you can beat the other fella. You see, there was no way Boss Tanaka could have survived that. Even if he could beat O-Ren, the bodyguard and the teenage murderous girl in addition to O-Ren would've been too much for anyone to handle reasonably, and O-Ren knew that. That's why she did what she did. You see, before you even get in that situation, you have to always make sure you have either a formidable weapon or hold some type of position of power, which is what O-Ren did.
Love the guys faces after the head goes flying. Literally a live action anime!
THIS is how you write a strong female character
O-Ren Ishii is probably my all-time-favorite-character.

In real life, no yazuka council would allow even a woman to lead them, ironically, Tanaka was the most accurate yakuza in this scene.

What Tanaka should've done is asked how O-Ren will put things in check, especially during the most £@(%ed time during the early/late 2000's. After recovering from the recession from 2007 to 2010, many businesses weren't able to recover fast enough. If he was to ask the council about this, he would've still been alive. But diplomacy wasn't on his side, unfortunately.
