Given how much Ares was despised in the God of War universe, this conversation is rather ironic if you consider his Roman counterpart, Mars. Mars Ultor, as he was worshipped in Rome, was considered a champion and defender of humanity, who battled against monsters and granted strength to the Roman legions to help conquer the world. His original temple was reportedly even larger and more luxurious than Jupiter, the King of Olympus. Mars was considered an honorable and proud warrior, similar to how Tyr was once viewed.
I hope we visit the Greek lands again, now ruled by their Roman counterparts.
That would make Mars a mid-tier Tyr.
@@ruhandave2 Going further, it'd be interesting if Kratos became Mars since he is technically the God of War.
feel like it’s be cool to have the next mythology be roman since it’s probably the last game about kratos before it goes to atreus and it hits so close to home
@@justindriver7371 yes, it would. But, I think he's better off as the new All-father, since he also has a spear like Odin, and has helped rebuild the lands.

"gods of war are not so revered"
kratos the spartans worshipped you so much they thought not even zeus could keep you from them. the spartans were literally ready to take over the world
''In such a way ''
The Spartans worshipped the gods of war, to help them win their wars not maintain peace.
@@vodkaEditz , outside of the One Piece anime/manga series Scandinavian Vikings/Pirates never really cared about maintaining the peace and order of the world otherwise they wouldn’t have killed deserters on the spot like what Akainu did in the Paramount War, and they would have planned a perfect execution for those people being killed off with the most heinous crimes imaginable hence why Kratos’s, Faye’s, and Atreus’s statements are wrong Tyre the Norse God of War, and why he isn’t any different than Ares from the actual Greek Myths, or him being the same as Kratos in the God of War 2 video game.
Well spartans are warriors of war. They never stop fighting. But also kratos was also a spartan, i think they revered the god of war most because the god of war was kratos at that time. While in ares time is was more Meh . Ares was worshiped with fear i suppose
I mean his statement was a response to the comment of how everyone in the nine realms loved Tyr. In Greece the Spartans might have love Kratos but I doubt he would have got anywhere near that level of love in the city states that weren't directly serving/worshiping him.
@@whitefanful , if the series ended at God of War 2 with Zeus, Athena, and all of the Olympian Gods and none Olympian Gods allowed Kratos being the Spartan God of War leading the Spartan Warriors to victory until the Monotheistic Religions took over, or every nation across the globe became completely atheistic than yes Kratos would not only be better than all of the polytheistic versions of God of War, but his religious followers would even outshine that of the monotheistic religions too, but since all of the Gods keeps back stabbing Kratos, and them not allowing him to live his peaceful life without them interfering with his business of course he’s going to keep massacring the gods because they keep fucking with him and his family.

And I will remind you that Greece is more than just Athens or Sparta.
Well Sparta was the only family Kratos had and the Athens only worshipped athena

Gotta say, the only real disappointment in this game was Tyr. Both fake and real.
Real Tyr was so annoying
"Thanks for freeing me, no I don't want to help restore the realms I want to be left alone and reflect now of you don't ming gtfo"
Fake Tyr was bad but at least interesting.
The first game hyped him up so much it was pretty much impossible to live up to this. Fake Tyr should be kept, but the real one should've been killed off before being found.
No joke.
I just hope that Tyr will shine in the next god of war.
@@PetersaberHD or just have it be the real Tyr from the get-go lol but we should've learned by now that raising our own expectations too high will only lead to disappointment we ourselves cause
The dogs don’t frickin shut up when they aren’t on the sled holy crap
IMO they should’ve left Tyr actually dead and not have Odin need him alive to impersonate him. It would’ve made more thematic sense and have Kratos kinda “fill-in” and take over Tyr’s role following in his example. Also, it could’ve been used to fuel Odin’s paranoia since he can see Groa’s prophecy and think “wait wtf I killed Tyr why is he alive in this Ragnarok prophecy?” and thus, making him also have greater suspicions towards Kratos’s role in Ragnarok and give a more personal reason for Odin to want to have Kratos killed in the prophecy we/Atreus saw of Kratos’s death.
one could argue that odins death was his own fault, kratos wouldnt have ever tried to kill him if he actually left them alone. It wouldve fit the overall theme that you cause your own fate by trying to subvert it If Tyr(Odin) caused Odins demise.
Unless Kratos and Týr are willing to go to other pantheon's to fight Evil God's from other myths and religions...
Well if you play the game after the end and Finding the REAL Týr..
Apperently Týr Knows Tai Chi, So he knows martial arts possibly learned it from the Monks of China..
Although...
I feel like Kratos and Týr wouldn't Fight Jesus as.. well he's pacifist.. possibly the Devil/Satan.. although in story's the Devil isn't much of a fighter but a Manipulator just like Odin..
Well Guess it's off to Japan and China then to face the Evil God's...
And possibly Egypt too...
The thing is, Tyr was never dead in the story. Tyr being dead was a rumor started by Odin so he could keep him imprisoned and control a God he despised freely.
@@alexcubbage8811 Well duh, everyone knows the story by now, I’m arguing they should’ve just killed him off for real.
@@alexcubbage8811we know bruh. the comment literally says "I wish they" not "they did"
Tyr is a norse god he has known nothing but war since the beginning of time and he was put in the position to end it and took the best path he could
No joke, but my dog actually ran into the room and started looking around excitedly when he heard the wolves barking 😅
Cats have a similar reaction sometimes. They either get curious or very very _angry._
I’m fine with the real Tyr. If anything, I believe he’s set up for future GOW games. I think it’s Angrboda who says that Atreus has left the nine realms, at the end of the game, so Tyr gearing up to visit other pantheons again feels like it makes sense. Maybe the plot for the next game will be Atreus seeking out the remaining Giant lineage, and Tyr will be there slapping bitches left and right
How about Tyr become playable next game plus the protagonist and Atreus will be his companion?? It will still be GOW no???
Next game should be Kratos with either Freya or Tyr on a rescue mission because Atreus in his travels got captured by the Aztec Gods who are all about sacrifices and bloodshed.
@@revelstatus2346 rumors are that Tỳr's moves during his exercises are hints as to where the next game is going, so somewhere in East Asia
Agreed, thats the only upside of tyr not being in the story, its a way to keep him alive and safe and force kratos to take action and assume his role as a god instead of being scared of fighting. Odin disguising as Tyr also features Odin's ability to manipulate and deceive people.
Tyr being a well traveled god gives us, in the next game, a reason to dip our toes in another pantheon's business.
Next game should bounce back and forth between kratos' in Midgard and atreus in another pantheon it's years later and atreus has found no giants but is a lot older stronger and wiser the game can go back to the old camera style so you can cut back and forth between what they are doing have been doing in flashbacks and maybe a new aeisr threat has been slowly rising over the years in Midgard so loki has to find a bunch of giants and come back to help kratos' take on a new enemy idk Santa Monica can figure it out but I want to play as kratos' in Midgard and atreus in another pantheon
I thought it was neat that Groa’s prophecy showed Tyr leading the armies of Odin’s foes to Asgard. When technically speaking that’s what happened. Odin disguising himself as Tyr, and killing Brok is what started Ragnarok and led the armies of his foes to Asgard. Groa’s prophecy ended up being right after all.
The thing is that it wasn’t Tyr at all it was talking about Kratos and even when you see it they don’t know who it is just that it is somebody who was either a god of war with a spear or a champion which everyone thought was Atreus even fake Tyr did.
1. I kinda like and I'm disappointed by Tyr. I like the subversion. But he was the centerpiece for the trailer and the real version looks like an afterthought.
Also, I like me some heckin pupperinos as much as the next guy, but it stuck out to me how much barking is in there. It's almost incessant

I feel like real Týr gets a bad rap.
He wasn't aware of the plot whatsoever, as he was imprisoned the whole game. Imagine being imprisoned that long, wondering what to say or do to your captor, wondering how they'll change the world you love for the worst, thinking there's no hope, and then some people just bust in and say that it's all fine and that they're moving on now. What do you even say to that? He said he wished to think about the news he was given, FOR A TIME, not forever. He's 100% gonna help people out, but he's traumatized and severely out-dated in knowledge and just needs some time to process. Hes trying to get used to a world not ruled by the Tyrant he despised. Which, by the way, barely anyone in this world has ever known their world without Odin's rule. It's kind of jarring.
Also, Odin's already gone, there's no more war. So, therefore, the outdated and confused God of War literally has nothing to do. He's just figuring stuff out, all of his history in this world is the same. He's still the same person that did all those things that made him so hype in the first place.
I feel like some people just need to let their disappointment go is all
Don't even try, most people in this comment section lack the intelligence to understand what you just said.
They are about to eat their hearts out in god of war Valhalla Tyr was a big help for Kratos overcoming his past
Some people just want the games to be like the old ones, you know angry and all murdery when that's not the point, in the original game kratos wasn't a good guy he didn't care who he hurt in his revenge, this version of kratos is healing and needed to be fixed, people seemly can't recognize that fact that kratos is tried, he wants to be a good god, someone people can worship, someone people can look up to not his old selfn
@@theenderdestruction2362 thank you I wonder if Kratos will go back to Egypt maybe this time alongside Tyr and Mimir with Tyr being his tour guide and establishing diplomatic relations with the Egyptian pantheons would be so cool to have tyr as a companion to fight alongside with who knows he may not be the god of war anymore but he’s still the god of wisdom
I thought the thumbnail of atreus was dancing
I mean it's kinda weird he says that given this game emphasizes his love for Sparta and his heritage when Sparta specifically loved Kratos, and he cared for it back. Hell they were tearing down any remaining statues of Ares in Ghost of Sparta and had the leftover Ares worshippers corralled and killed.
''Are not revered in such a way''
Ares and Kratos were revered to make war or help them at wars not maintain peace.
@@vodkaEditz in that regard fair enough then
Here's the reason I friggin LOVE the whole Týr plot. It's a way to use our expectations against us, making what used to be underwhelming and "wtf, why is this GOD OF WAR such a coward" into a point where the player seeks out vengeance. Broks death caused us to want to defeat Odin as much as Kratos does. It's brilliant! And the fact that real Týr acted like somone who had just been freed from prison would, with suspicion and a want to reflect on news. For all the people who have been disappointed, you brought this doen upon yourself having specific expectations. And they explain WHY Týr is alive in the game, or they at least speculate in it. Odin needs the person he is disguised as to be ALIVE to disguise himself as that person.
Kratos didn't want revenge at all, in fact Kratos in this game is basically a pacifist.
If wanted he revenge he would invade Asgard alone and destroy everything.

True gods of war.
In Norse Mythology Tyr was also the God of Law and Justice so it is pretty fitting he'd be a God who somewhat prevented War also. Preventing it entirely, not so much but regulating it and giving it rules, sure.
I see everyone is hating on Tyr but i can now see he is one of the hardest bosses in the game
Ares, total bloodthirsty jerk. Mars, his Roman counterpart, much more honorable and respectful. Revered almost as much as Jupiter, maybe even more so. All the power of Ares with the mindset and philosophy of Tyr.
Ares would demolish Tyr.
Not necessarily. Power and battle skill, Ares takes the win. But strategy and planning ahead goes to Tyr. In Greek mythology, Ares and Athena fight and compete often. Athena usually, if not always, wins because she outsmarts Ares. She is a goddess of wisdom and war, particularly battle strategy. Tyr is closer to Athena as a god of wisdom and battle strategy than he is to Ares.
@@adamhenry7043 Athena is almost equal to Ares according to GOW1 Novel, so Athena also would stomp Tyr.
