After he was forgotten by his grandpa , Gary will make sure no one forget him anymore.....no matter how
The "aren't you even just a little bit curious Ash?" line makes the fact that Gary ended up becoming a researcher really fucked up.
...You... you are RIGHT! Someone need tell Oak... wait... I think Oak has lost his mind too...
With this course of action if he ever had a daughter and a Growlith... Well they'd be inseparable.
I genuinely did a spit take after Gary said “aren’t you just a little curious ash?” This is comedic genius

@Calm Belt Performing for you and if you know the words you can join in too!
@@sonman3694 It's a quote from Brock in the Pokemon series, you can find the clip on UA-cam
If Charmander were to die my frying pan would become a crying pan.
I love how Gary devolves from indifference to actually encouraging Ash to kill it.
All those years of Oak favouring Pokemon over his own grandson really got to him.
He probably assumed Ash would kill it without thinking but when Ash hesitated he started applying pressure
kinda like the guy in your profile, went from acting oblivious to just outright telling 2 people to throw each other into deadly lava
"To see God become as weak as Man" is such a raw ass line and I can't believe it's in a Solid JJ episode featuring Pokemon
He literally went from "Just finish this fight" to "Aren't you just a bit curious?" to "KILL" in a minute and an half lol
Well in Gary defense "Aren't you just é bit curious?" to "KILL" is not that far.
Ash is actually being aware and careful for once. I’m proud of him.
I'm surprised he's actually aware of this, unlike the multiple times he send a Pikachu to a fight with ground types
“You don’t understand, Ash. If this Charmander can die. So can the rest. So can pikachu, so can gastly, even that damned talking meowth. But you still don’t see it, do you? Why I’m doing this? Arceus. Ash, I’ll find it. And I’ll end it. And when I do. I won’t be a god, ash. I’ll be better. I’ll have killed God.”
Logic error. Demonstrating that one pokemon can die in no way demonstrates that all pokemon can die. After all, some pokemon are ALREADY dead and it doesn't seem to be slowing them down any.
I’m never prepared for a JJ plot twist and the “aren’t you curious” genuinely scared me
I was so positive Ash was gonna command Squirtle to use Water Gun at the end because of the peer pressure but Gary actually wanting to see Charmander die while Lavender Town was playing was just perfect.
Proud of Ash for having better morality then Gary and not caving to his peer pressure.
"Squirtle, ignore Charmender, attacks Gary."
-good ending.
I mean, blood will come out from doing that, which would only make it worse, Best case scenario is either fleeing from this pokemon trainer battle or throwing a pokeball and steal Squirtle so Gary doesn't get it killed.
@@dylanzlol7293 Assuming the games' rules are in effect, he can't run away from a trainer battle and if he threw a Pokeball Gary would just swat it away.
Also Charmander is the one in trouble here, not Squirtle.
I've always thought that the Pokedex had it backwards. That if Charmander's tail goes out, it's already dead, because it uses a thermite reaction to keep the flame going and it going out means the body is out of oxygen.
Kind of supported by Pokemon Origins where Charizard's tail is on fire under water.
I love how that perfectly fits Gary’s character and yet I didn’t see it coming
Yeah, and I guess it was a slight mood change when he made the very compelling and reasonable point of *"Kill. KILL! **_KIIIIIIILL!!!!!"_*
"Can I at least switch pokémon?"
"Oh, so now you resorted to cheating?!"
Dude, that's been a core mechanic for 25+ years
Oh no not cheating the game, he means cheating fate. He knows Ash is on the road to the dark side and that there's nothing anyone can do to deter him from that path.
I think Gary took that question as switching his pokemon for free, like without using his turn
Oh no, no, no, for you see that has been tournament banned since at least ‘08.
He meant without wasting a turn i believe like taking back his decision of his battle starter
I really like that you actually sometimes incorporate OOC silliness and other times have them reacting to a canon-impossible situation in character, perfectly yet still creatively.
I definitely like that you had Ash apply his brain and stand his moral ground after he learned a Pokemon could perish, just like canon Ash from when the series first started would.
"To see the life leave his eyes, to see gods become as weak as man." - This is something lex Luthor would say when coercing Batman in killing Big Blue.
The switch between "Stop wasting time already," and "Aren't you just a little bit curious," is such a minor shift in the conversation, but it instantly adds an entirely fucked up context out of nowhere. Fantastic
Well I mean.... From a more scientific perspective these pokemon are like living god's with how much they withstand yet this ONE will apparently fully die if it's tail goes out..... so that means they tried it somewhere already out of curiosity in the real show. Think about that. The pokidex was made by science.
@@matthewcurry3565 To be fair, it's more likely that these discoveries came from tragic accidents, and the pokedex entries were written to make sure young trainers wouldn't make the same mistakes.
@@brandonvelde5774 Yes indeed. Just like the nazis experiments in which the usa immediately bought, and learned a lot from..... Tragic little accidents.
Seeing Ash care about the mortality of a pokemon for once sure is interesting considering the hundreds of times he violated the Geneva conventions.
I was expecting Ash to accidentally extinguish the flame on Charmanders tail and panic about what happened, this was equally terrifying.
The sudden mood shift from “make your move ash” to “aren’t you just a little bit curious” is so fucking great
Gary is actually just playing a high-level psychological game. The video should be titled "Ash's biggest weakness" instead
Every time I think "surely he must have run out of ways to subvert/make fun of a nerd media trope" you find another one. Truly, you're an exemplar of this craft. If you're not remembered decades from now, then that would be a tragedy.
Fun fact: the fire is actually really hard to put out. There’s a scene where a charizard (yeah I know, but it’s the same Pokémon just smaller) falls in a pool of water, and it takes a solid minute for it to run out. *completely covered in water*
Ash being concerned and rational in these parodies is hilarious.
Perhaps what makes it most hilarious is the implication that Season 1 Ash ever had a rational thought get anywhere near his head.
I want to see one where ash gets Charizard to listen using reverse psychology
Honestly props to you for using the Lavender Town theme in a way that was actually unsettling. The way Gary calmly asks "aren't you even a little curious?" as it begins was super well executed. It was like a scene out of something like The Shining where it becomes clear the exact moment that Gary loses his last marble.

Another great thing to think about, Gary has a charmander and Ash a squirtle, since they haven’t evolved its safe to assume this one of the first few pokemon battles they’ve been in. Because of this theres a good possibility that Gary got Charmander for the sole purpose of testing his theory out..
The timing of music, the well selected words, script etc, bro you are a genius. Saw almost all of your videos in 1 night.
Honestly this is justified psychological torture as revenge for that time Ash exploited Gary's grandfather's Alzheimer's
Yup, Ash should have thought twice before telling Professor Oak that Gary's name was Dickfuck.
"Now Ash, I will have my revenge over the memories you put in my grandfather's mind just to have a laugh on me!"
"As you wish, ASSUCKER".
Wait, you mean his name is Gary and not AssBreath? How the fuck did I not know this?
Best part is, this also has actual bits of lore to this. Not only does Ash ask to switch his Pokémon, meaning most likely they are near Oak’s lab as neither one has had time to check each others Pokémon meaning this is the first rival battle, but then Gary says that he wants to see his charmander die so he can, “see Gods become as weak as man.” He sees even the smallest Pokémon as Gods. He views these Pocket Monsters to be beings of unparalleled power and strength than mere mortals can rarely if ever even hope to scratch, with him likely having had this view for a long time before this. Heck, his grandpa is a Professor of these things, which to him would be like having a Priest of a tangible God as your father. And now that he’s become 10, he’s been given full control of a baby God. He wants to see what happens when those who conquered death are thrown to the wolves. He wants to see what happens when the Gods are unable to fight back. And maybe, when the Baby God is dead, he can find out what allows them to generate offspring that can launch attacks like “Hyper Beam” or “Protect” or “Telekinesis.” After all, if he can find a physical cause _he can likely replicate it with technology._
the idea that the true horrific evil in the Pokemon universe is Gary, who isn't even after money but just the feeling of God he gets after killing Pokemon, is hilarious to me.
To be completely fair, there are multiple instances where the Pokedex has been proven wrong.
I think it was a mistranslation that was fixed in latter entries, the tail goes out when it dies but it dosent die if the tail goes out.
@@dumpyfan3362 Yeah. That is still in line with the entry. The entry says that they die if the flame goes out. The flame did not go out, therefore it did not die.
thats true, but in the indigo league they make it to be a really big deal since one of the episodes the group was trying to make sure the charmander's tail wouldnt go out as they specified it would die, but idk thats just one source so

I like to imagine that Gary knows that his Charmander isn't going to die from Squirtle's water-based attacks and that he's just messing with Ash for kicks.
Fun fact: They retconned it so that the flame is an indicator of a Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard’s health. The tail flame goes out when it dies, but the tail flame going out doesn’t cause its death. In-universe, they made it a new discovery by a Pokémon professor like Oak.

Gary was never the same after his grandfather's mind had crumbled away from his rapidly advancing dementia.
