It's a reference to Red from the Red Ribbon Army arc of Dragon Ball. He used all of his resources just to be able to be able to be tall. Of course, once his assistant realized the power he was wasting, he killed him.
Most people would end up not realizing that the most realistic version of immortality (biological senescence) would be applied meaning no growing old but still being able to die by other factors. So taking the second wish and adding on invincibility would make sense with the third being whatever loose end that needs to be tied up. Always specify what you mean.
Its a catch I have always enjoyed pondering in these kinds of situations. lol. Vampires for example are often portrayed as biologically immortal, but they can still be killed in a fight if someone powerful or resourceful enough comes across them. Immortality is not always the same as invulnerability. Now with that being said, an immortality wish in DBZ would make you virtually invincible, but not unbeatable. Vegeta could be rendered unkillable to Freeze in this skit's universe, but Freeza, knowing he was immortal, could just trap him or something instead, as at this point, he was still LEAGUES above Vegeta in power.
Is because he made that wish in dragon ball super. He wishes to be 5 inches taller and to be honest that's a retarded wish. To be honest it's not as retarded to wish for immortality, as a kid I think about that and that would suck. What if you loved one dies and you are stilling living while watching the universe end then you would in space floating forever.
Well, considering that the Freeza Force's boss is, well, Freeza, it makes sense why their health department would ensure that the soldiers would have proper mental health. I mean, Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz spent years working for the same guy that wiped out their race. Heck, some of the soldier migh have been forced to aid in wiping out their homeworlds.
For wish granting beings, dragons are pretty chill. They usually follow through with the intent of the wish and if there is a major catch involved for whatever reason, they mention it openly before confirming the wish.
"We have healing pods straight out of star wars and you're shocked that we treat mental health" while patting Hogan's head makes Vegeta unexpectedly wholesome
This made me think of an alternate reality where Vegeta's wish of immortality is fulfilled and he unknowingly caps himself at his Namek-era strength while the other Z Fighters continue to get stronger. Kinda like a loophole of the wish, I mean he could never get Zenkai Boosts because he could never reach near-death, muscle grows from the progressive stress put on them but he'd never hit that because his biology is essentially now in limbo, and he'd lose the Saiyan pride of fighting because every fight he gets into gets reduced to a stamina battle and would be damn near assured victory. They wouldn't even be satisfying wins because even if he gets his ass beat he knows he'd just have to endure. Would be an interesting story to see him go on a Dragon Ball-esque vision quest as he journeys the Earth for the Dragon Balls to restore his mortality...without the dragon radar. Or like a cool alternate reality enemy to show our canon Vegeta the folly of such a wish.
I feel like this happens in real life too. People that are maybe at most an inch taller than someone else start making fun of them for being short... Although, I'm pretty sure Vegeta is considerably taller than Krillin.
@@somber8233 Really? I'm a 5'4" guy and I've never been made fun of for being short, though I'm sure the comment section will fix that. Then again, I think I would just look at someone as if they were a weirdo if they did.
@@MrPicklesAndTea Haha yeah, they're weirdos for sure. I see it a lot but that's good to hear you live in an area where that doesn't happen. Must be some wholesome people over there.
I mean he's taller than Krillin so, I don't see the problem. But Vegeta doesn't give a shit about his height, why should anyone else. Also, Krillin is one of the strongest humans so him being short should be the least of his worries, he just proves that height doesn't equal strength, at least in the DB universe. I am about as tall as Vegeta and I honestly don't care about it. It's one of the stupidest things people worry or brag about. Honestly, who gives a shit about it? I don't. Not me, NOPE! All I care about is enjoying life. So how about you shut up about height.
Never watched Dragon Ball besides like one or two episodes but I love Vegeta's character progression here: - He's smug and confident about his wish, even bragging about it when an enemy shows up, but that confidence wavers when the unfortunately implications are brought up - When someone new shows up, he tries to assert his confidence again, only for the unfortunate implications to be brought up...again - A third person shows up, and apparently he thinks the third time's the charm because he goes full dramatic declaration mode, only for the unfortunate implications to be brought up a THIRD TIME - When a fourth person shows up, he's just so done with the whole thing that he doesnt even try to gas up his now ruined immortality. But when the unfortunate implications are brought up for the FOURTH FUCKING TIME anyway, he understandably loses his shit - He demands that the dragon take the wish back, and hides the fact that he is not only questioning his own judgement, but overwhelmingly disappointed that the thing he wanted most in the universe is not what it was cracked up to be, under a facade of maniacal bravado

To be fair, "being near death" isn't the same as actually dying. Your lifeline can be worn down to an almost-invisible string, but if you're immortal, it can't be cut.
On the other hand, a kind of immortality where you could be trapped in an eternal near death state (like, for example, being dismembered and reducendo to Tiny pieces scattered in space, but unable to finally die nor regenerate and costantly aware) doesn’t seems like a good deal or a fun experience for even someone that become stronger if RECOVER from a near death experience, not just by BEING in a near death experience in the first place. I mean, if you have a perfect cell level of regeneration combined with the unability to be fully destroyed, awsome (not counting being sealed away, being trown in the dead zone, etc.). But if hyperegeneration wasn’t part of the deal…
@@doctorhealsgood5456 i dint think so future Zamasu seemed unable to take damage of any kind at all he seemed he could only be pushed around but not damaged
I think the dragon usually gets the wishes correctly, and can infer the intent from the words. the wish would probably grant him immortality to the best effect the dragon can imagine, there is garlic junior who is immortal, and it seems to be ok with him. as long as the dragon thought about the implications beforehand, he would probably grant the wish the best way he can. also, I can't find an organic way to add this, but dragon wish ain't no monkey paw.
Yeah stepping away from the meme for a bit, most wishes are what could have been Monkey Paw traps actually come out EXACTLY as the wisher intended, but that also might be because Toriyama himself didn't think of the implications at the time. Imm not well studied about this shit but I'm sure there are good reason given for resurrection not being a legal wish in Western media
Well yeah, but this is Namek’s dragon, and Porunga explicitly does not go by the intent behind the words. When they wished Piccolo to Namek, they wanted Piccolo where they were. But instead, he got placed on what seemed to be a random spot on Namek’s surface a few thousand miles away.
Immortality in DB universe simply means "You don't pass on to another plane after taking a certain amount of damage." There have been a decent amount of successful immortality wishes in the DB universe. They simply didn't die after taking multiple instances of fatal damage. Cutting off limbs is stuff that only happens to Piccolo because he can regenerate it. That's like an unwritten rule.

- When a fourth person shows up, he's just so done with the whole thing that he doesnt even try to gas up his now ruined immortality. But when the unfortunate implications are brought up for the FOURTH FUCKING TIME anyway, he understandably loses his shit
- He demands that the dragon take the wish back, and hides the fact that he is not only questioning his own judgement, but overwhelmingly disappointed that the thing he wanted most in the universe is not what it was cracked up to be, under a facade of maniacal bravado

To be fair, "being near death" isn't the same as actually dying. Your lifeline can be worn down to an almost-invisible string, but if you're immortal, it can't be cut.
So what you are saying is that he could had farmed for infinite zenkai boosts? Damn, that's busted.
I thought that he can’t have a near-death experience cos he’s never “near-death”. Like any damage you do will never make him near death.
