  • RED Komodo and minimalism, okay maybe its a stretch. But this video is all about how I rig up my RED camera with as little as possible without cutting corners. Minimalism, minimalist, whatever you want to call it, is something I could learn. I have TOO much gear, and only taking what I need is often very difficult.

    As minimal as you can get with a Red, very cool! Smart call on securing the monitor.

      I'm working on going EVEN SMALLER! (but indeed I think this is just about as minimal you can get while still functioning)

    Awesome video and rig really enjoyed your walk though! I have mine rigged out all the way s the tilta cage and it like 10 lbs. really heavy after while might pick up those canon batteries! Thank you for the video!

    Nice setup. Also on the way to red komodo. I hope it'll work great with my sigma 18-35/1.8 and 50-100/1.8.
    Did you try 50-100/1.8 with your small rig setup?

      Thanks! Hope you get yours soon.
      I haven’t tried that lens, am overdue to test it. Working on a video for next week that’s all shot with the 18-35, would be nice to have something on the longer side that matches.

    What size nato rail is that? The linked one in the description is different than what you have in the video. Thanks!

    Nice setup! I opted for an iPad Mini 6 as my monitor. Perfect size, image clarity, and almost no lag. I should note that I've had little to no luck with the Red Control app on multiple Samsung phones though. Not sure it it is an Android issue or Samsung issue, but from my experience the app does seem to only be reliable on iOS devices.

      Thanks! Definitely contemplated the iPad route. I’ve had no problems with Android on my Hydrogen, so I’d guess a Samsung issue.

      the ipad mini 6 as a monitor sounds really good. Which parts do you need to adapt the ipad to the komodo?

      @@ZEROFilms_ You don't need anything! Just a recent firmware on both the iPad and Komodo. I'm planning to make a short video showcasing the iPad mini as a monitor in the coming weeks.

      @@DynamicPhil84 Sorry I didn’t make myself clear, I was interested how you adapt the Ipad to your rig. Which mount do you use? For me a tophandle is also very important. Best case would be to adapt the ipad to a tophandle. And cool, looking forward for your video

      @@ZEROFilms_ Oh gotcha. I will have to double check but I believe it is a Joby holder for the iPad mini 6 and it comes with a 1/4" threaded whole. I have it rigged up on the top handle of my Komodo most of the time.

    I just picked up a hydrogen one and the Google play store says this about RED CONTROL: “your device isn’t compatible with this version” does yours still work?

    Isn't there a risk of shorting the connections on the top of the Komodo? The top part of the cage has a gap in between, but a nato rail will touch right at those pins.

    • @georgemichaelofficial
      @georgemichaelofficial  2 роки тому

      not sure! I definitely looked at that and wished there was a little cover for those pins as I don't like them exposed.

      @@georgemichaelofficial That red phone idea was brilliant! Nevre knew they sold phones! lol
      Couple questions
      1. what do you do for audio?
      2. do you use autofocus?
      3. ever thought of a canon ef 24-70 on the camera as main run and gun? I have both that and the sigma but the canon has wider focal length range
      4. how do you setup the tilta handle to change focus? dont you need some kind of focus wheel or cable?

    • @georgemichaelofficial
      @georgemichaelofficial  2 роки тому +1

      Ey thanks! I was really pleased when that idea popped into my head.
      1) I usually hire sound, rodemic backup
      2) I do! Talked about briefly in this video, but have others (and another out next week) talking more about it. Comes down to the scenario!
      3) have that lens as well, gonna give it a whirl soon!
      4) yes, if you want control you'll have to at Nucleus Nano and a rod to mount it.
