- Today I'm showing you the handheld rig that I've built for my RED KOMODO. Super stoked with the way this build came out and super excited to start shooting some real projects with it!

Super nice
Great video. Interesting rig setup. Cheers!!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
@@calebbrunkow I've been trying to figure out how people are best mounting their monitors so this was super helpful. Thanks for making it!
nice man.
yeah, i'm curious on options for a good Shoulder-Rig setup for long handheld documentary days. I kinda hate being in an easy rig!!! hahaha...
There’s some great shoulder rig options, I think CVP covered it in their rigging the Komodo series
Nice video! I am looking for make my rig and this help me a lot! Greetings from Argentina
Thanks! Just a heads up I have changed a TON about this rig since I made this video. I don’t use any of the kondor blue products on the rig anymore and a few other things have changed as well like the battery setup.
THIS IS SO GOOD MAN 🔥👌🎉
Thanks!
Nice vid man! You have a genuine (no gimmicks) personality that comes across on the UA-camee 😎 keep it up and masses of folks will enjoy it! I have no need for a serious rig like that, but it was cool to see the build and components. It would be neat to see a vid on how you “pull focus” on a shoot and nail it. I’m slowly building my R6 into some type of rig 😂
Really appreciate the comment! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. For sure could do something like that eventually and so cool with your R6 setup!
@@calebbrunkow 😎
Great video! Love your enthusiasm and how you kept my attention 100% with your 'hi-beat' conversation. Your ad-lib style is really refreshing and even though I have no plans to shoot video with a rig like your built, it was great to see how it all came together and what purpose each item has. Look forward to seeing some samples of how you use it - any plans to use your vintage lenses?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and yes! I actually have a video planned testing different vintage lenses on the Komodo
Your enthusiasm shines through! Love it!
Thanks!
@@calebbrunkow You’re welcome!
Nice build!!!
Thanks! Really appreciate you guys getting the cage out to me so quick
Beautiful build man, kudos!
Appreciate it!
Hi! Thanks for the video. Do you know if that cage can be use with some support for mount adapters like pl to rf?
I love that rig. I wish the cable management was better. It’s a great job, we just have to experiment on the cable management.
Since making this I’ve cleaned the cables up a lot, coiled cables and cable ties
Cable management is really hard to do in such a compact build. I've been working on it through mine, but because cages and rigs don't supply tie down points, like PC case do, it can be hard and awkward to cable manage.
beast set up
Thanks!
Could you do a review/tutorial or showcase of your RED pelican box as seen in the beginning of the video? Awesome video by the way. Looking forward to more from you on the RED Komodo!
Yeah I could do something like that! Probably wouldn’t be enough for a full video but could work it into the next video about the RED
Like the build a lot , that was funny when you said u need to invest in a easy rig.
Glad you enjoyed it! And for real, definitely need one, it’s heavy
Seems weird with the V mount plate. Like how hard is it to swap V mounts? Unless you film really long form stuff.
The v mount plate is mostly if you’re filming all day and the way it’s set up is so that you can hot swap V Mounts if needed. Also there to balance out the rig if you’re running larger lenses on the front. This rig setup has almost completely changed since making this video too
@@calebbrunkow Yeah the balance benefit is nice - I have the cheaper Tilta V mount and it doesn't block the camera + helps balance too. You do get the annoying pop up when you start the camera and can't hot swap, but the hot swapping hasn't impacted me. You should do an updated rig video! Cheers
I’ve been thinking of doing an updated video but there’s a few things I wanna add to the rig first to really round it out
hello, what is the cable for the power of the monitor?
It’s just a d tap to whatever port the port keys has. I think it’s a 3 pin lemo
Does the v-mount setup interfere with the plugging in/unplugging the SDI? I ask because I'm feverish about "last in, first out" when it comes to the SDI port, and it seems inconvenient with the v-mount plate.
I have right angle SDI cables and if I need more room I’ll either just slide the v mount back a bit for better access or just take off the V mount cause the rig won’t lose power because there’s another canon BP battery powering the camera
I’ve also changed this rig almost entirely since making this video lol
@@calebbrunkow nice, i'd be curious to see the updated rig!
Have you tried the canon 28-70 F2.0 lens ? It's 95mm and I've had a little trouble getting my polar pro matte box to fit flush on it. Seems like the small rig would be a good solution.
I have not tried that lens before. It depends on the outer diameter though not the thread size.
Top handle can start/stop record button komodo? You did not show it in the video? Why use outrigger handle then if it works?
You need to plug the cable into the camera and I just hate extra cables so never use the start/stop feature and instead use the side handle or the start/stop on the monitor
Great job but u left out the most important part! What is the cost of all that rigging?
WTF that Sigma lens cap is so gorgeous, where did you get that ?
I designed it and ordered it through Simmod Lens. I have a video on my channel where I talk about it
What product rod?
The 15mm rods?
Total price of Komodo total Rig. Let me know.
Probably somewhere around $8500 with the Sigma 18-35.
Quite a bit more than that
