Excited for all the nerds to yell at Nilay that it's risc-(five) not V
Got kinda triggered ngl
I didn’t take a low level computing course to not be up in arms in the comments abt this 😂
I came here to say this. Thank you. ❤
lol one of those things I only ever read and never say
That was me lol
It becomes more clear every day that the hero of Apple’s transition to ARM wasn’t actually the processors themselves, it was Rosetta 2.
Nilay, love the frame tv in the background. One beautiful backlight.
All I can see is Nilay jauntily off-center and zoomed in from the usual 26mm webcam/smartphone camera.
alex killed it, so insightful and funny
came here to say that exact same thing. very cool guest, great co-host.
more heath please! 🙏
Looking forward to your upcoming beefs with the flagship podcasts of the Zilog Z80 and the MOS 6502!
Ok I think I see what Apple is doing with CarPlay. They are saying to automakers: consumers like this thing and it’s already works in most cars. Rather than your users having a generic Apple experience when they plug in their phones, you can use our templates to change CarPlay to fit your company’s look. Same CarPlay projection, just much more customizable by an automakers.
Tech and product people who wholesale disregard an entire mainstream OS boggle my mind.
If $1500 is an impulse buy, I’m clearly doing something wrong
Very much enjoyed seeing another Alex on the Podcast But I'm definitely missing David,But Thanks again for sharing all great information.💯✌️
I was hoping David would make an appearance to talk about Claude 3.5 😥
I just am going to name this episode “the Nilay’s law of sarcasm “ the better LLMs get the more wittier the sarcasms get about where LLMs are going and its going to be exponentially better soon 😂😂
RISC-V is good for running multiple operations on a single data set. Also it’s open source so anyone can design a RISC chip technically. P
Technically, you still got to design the chip, get a fab to make it, test the chip and deploy it....
Not exactly cheap, nor easy.
Total recall would have been a game changer for security and forensics for all official machines. But encrypted!!
Please bring back David! 🙏🏽😭
1:35 before Recall feature didn’t computer index everything on your computer and then you were able to search it? So why is the outrage machine in overdrive? Must be the clicks!!
More Alex Heath on VC please!
What happened to google glass? What did google do with North?
The Vision Pro 2 development being paused rumour, was out before the Vision Pro released!
The issue with CarPlay is the fear that the Auto makers have! If you ask the Ford CEO how they deploy the stack within the platform?
Porsche has said that next generation CarPlay will be on the new Macan EV that ships later this year
1:04:25 Hit the nail right on the head. You don't have to look far to see how getting what you want fast enough by illicit means is more valuable than the consequences of the method you used. Fine them a million dollars, what they got was worth a billion.
39:56 "Every AI demo was like that, unless you have some very narrow use case" - Like software engineering 😉
Great episode now get Victoria back on
What is a VR headset?
It's RISC - FIVE !!! Nerds in your audience were never excited about RISC - "Vee".🙄
Literally been refreshing for todays episode 😂
The price of a premium iPhone Pro starts at $999 - $1499!
I would guess it’s the Moore’s Law is Dead podcast.
Risk five
1:01:15 That's just it, he'll be long dead by that point. Politicians and other high level expects have learned that their time is finite. So it doesn't matter how many corners they cut so long as they make it to their own finality. It's the next persons problem to deal with. There is no longer the need to create a forever company so long as you create something compelling enough that it gets funding from outside sources. When companies could only survive on their pwn profitability, it was different. Now as long as you fund raise, you don't even need a working product. Just be first. Being first creates momentum, and having momentum means everyone else is behind you. Even if someone catches up, the sheer fact that they have momentum means they can iterate on their competition faster than the competition itself can, further propelling them forward.
One timestamp? Come on guys. Ur a tech podcast!
Still no chapters in the video player. They seemed to be reserved for the midweek episode. Not everyone watches this on a computer so it's helpful to go through chapters when watching on the TV.
what are you talking about
I hate wireless Carplay. There is a massive audio delay that is extremely frustrating in every vehicle I have tried it in. I watch UA-cam all the time when I am just parked waiting somewhere and wireless Carplay is unusable for it
Wireless CarPlay has worked perfectly and flawlessly for 3 years in my Mach-E. Connects immediately upon startup, never drops, no delays🤷♂️
@@AdamJakowenko I currently have a Tesla. The deciding factor for me was I test drove a Tesla and 2023 Mach-E on the same day; the Tesla audio synced with the video on my phone, the Mach-E didn’t
1:26:45 What Alex said earlier, ask for forgiveness. It's cheaper in the long run.
42:00 “Apple has to decide if Vision Pro is a virtual reality headset or an augment reality headset” ummmm it’s obviously a Mixed Reality headset Nilay, you of anyone should know that.
8:08 I could not disagree with Alex more.
I know what you did
RISK FIVE 🙄
Actually, RISC 5
and in all caps for...emphasis...
I can't a tech a publication seriously if the editor in chief says Risc Vee🤦
Petition to replace David?
It’s incredible Alex Cranz interrupted Nilay and Heath 20x this episode and nothing insightful came out of her mouth once.
I thought i’m the only one who got annoyed with her constantly talk like a non technical person at all.
@@ahmoylaw8905 she’s been the worst addition to the show since it began. No insightful comments, doesn’t seem knowledgeable about most topics, and immediately backtracks as soon as Nilay or anyone else doesn’t agree with her
She often has quality, unique, and interesting takes. Plus, you don’t want a cast of purely and entirely technical people. The fact you’ve commented about your disdain for Alex multiple times before honestly is starting to just give sexism on the low ¯\_(:-/)_/¯
@@rileyretzloff8778 tbh, she seems as knowledgeable as everyone else. I mean, they all at different points miss stuff and that’s fine. They are journalists not experts in every aspect of tech.
You people are not the brightest when it comes to security related topics
