I just noticed that you and I both recommended the same magnificent work for reaction. This composition and performance by Mercury and Caballe has never been equaled. I hope Dante does a reaction for this. Just my opinion.
They say perfection cannot exist. Watching this they are wrong. This could have went so wrong in so many ways, but it didn't. It is was perfection. A tear comes to my eye every time I hear it, total awe every time I see this live performance. The world lost two of the greatest voices ever. Bless them both.
Exactly. I came here to write that, but looked in case someone had said it because I couldn't be the only one who noticed. The first time I heard it was in Barajas, in what was something incredible back in the 80s: touch screens installed in the airport to advertise the Olympics.
Everyone is praising Freddie Mercury, but Montserrat completely blew it out of the water - her voice is so powerful and clear, my favourite part is how her voice ‘floats’ into the song at the beginning. Sounds so etheral and amazing!
@@marcopanza1011 Yes, it would have been great to hear a genuine live performance but perhaps he wasn't able to perform live anymore due to being on medication etc. This was his last public performance, and a nice flourish at the end of his live career.

It's fun, it's well done, and the relationship between the singers is interesting and touching. But it's also a bit kitsch! For collaborations that may in fact have matched or exceeded it, one only has to think of Freddie's duet with David Bowie, Under Pressure. Or what about George Michael and Aretha Franklin. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Stevie Wonder and Syreeta, I mean they're not hard to come up with. Freddie ranged over many styles, and brilliantly. Montserrat Cabailles sang in a more restricted field, but it's difficult to overstate how good she was at something that is incredibly difficult to do. Those floated high notes that were one of her calling cards, would achieve miraculous smallness, without falling apart, an effect that in many operas she was able to deploy to sublime effect. Freddie was a natural singing talent, and he worked his voice. But he could not have sung opera without training, and nor did she. She really worked hard to achieve the sound that made her career. It's really hard. So, this was a duet, by two legendary singers who allowed themselve this opportunity to explore one another's art, and meld the two together. Montserrat was not Freddie's backing singer.

Having the honor and opportunity to perform with someone as brilliant as Montserrat was on Freddie's bucket list, so to say, every moment Freddie Mercury gave to us on stage led him to this moment. I am so very proud of him ❤

I still, even after all these years, get chills watching this performance. I remember the first time I saw them perform together like this and I was completely blown away. This to me is one of Freddie Mercury’s best work and performance. This showed that he was soooo much more than just a rock star. I truly believe this is among his best work ever. Barcelona and Bohemian Rhapsody are two of my all-time favorites. Freddie truly was one of those rare talents and will live on forever through his music. RIP Freddie, you are still missed!

@@Cozy25 безусловно, это правда. Но глядя на современные тренды в музыке(конкретно русские), меня охватывают переживания в первую очередь за духовное состояние молодёжи. Глубокие смысл песен 80-х, 70-х всегда заставляет меня задуматься о смысле жизни, о моих поступках. А слушая подавляющее большинство треков из трендов меня ничего не трогает. Это просто песни, под которые можно танцевать в клубах. Однако им уделяют такое большое внимание. А, не побоюсь сказать, классику почти все считают устаревшей, и ,что характерно, некоторые знают классику по перепевкам других, более молодых исполнителей. И я не хотел никого оскорбить, просто написал своё субъективное мнение про уровень музыкальной культуры в нашей стране. И я не против продолжить дискуссию по этой теме 🙂

Мало того , что сами песни ,,неочём" , так ещё и танцевальные номера , как в публичном доме , хоть я и не пуританского воспитания , много повидала за долгую жизнь . Но в доковидную зиму ходила в наш , в Ижевске , оперный театр , школьников водят на балет , но именно водят! , классами . Но молодых ,,добровольцев" в театре не видела .

I just watched this again and I must say how much the love and respect Montserrat and Freddie had for each other, the abiding friendship meant. She described with tears in her eyes how Freddie was so concerned for her safety after he learned he was HIV Positive. Back then it was a death sentence. Freddie faced it bravely and the great opera diva never stopped her loving friendship for an amazingly unique and talented Freddie.

So one day she called him and sang a whole aria for him on the phone. Love and admiration. Remembering all that still moves me. The energy I get from this ever-magnificent performance is Mr Freddie was really excited to show Madam Montserrat what he could do, doing all those fabulous gestures and range of voice - sort off like a young boy showing off before his great idol. The grand lady of soprano reciprocated by keeping cool and letting the boy show what he got first, before treating him to a spectacular refrain starting at 4mins30secs. Her facial expression while belting the powerful outro was almost like saying: "Now, now. You had your fun showing off. It's me now, boy. Enjoy it!" Mr Freddie certainly did, right? Hahahaha. Oh, this showcase always gives me goosebumps! They both looked like they're having so much fun and love with each other...R.I.P. to both legends.

Yes, I 100% agree with you. For me this was a side of him that we had never seen before and I fell in love with his music all over again. For me Barcelona and Bohemian Rhapsody are his best work. His album that was released after his passing, Made In Heaven, is my favorite album of his. The album couldn’t have had a better title and many of the songs hit me hard. He knew he was dying and I think it’s reflected in many of the lyrics.

I'm 63 and have adored Freddie and Queen since the day they broke into the big time. All of my friends were into the Bay City Rollers. Only Freddie could be part of such a masterpiece. No doubt about it. The guy was a phenomenal musical genius 👍

I have always been a huge fan of Queen's but please Monserat Caballe was a professional opera singer. Do you think that Pavarotti wouldn't have been a match?

It's fun, it's well done, and the relationship between the singers is interesting and touching. But it's also a bit kitsch! For collaborations that may in fact have matched or exceeded it, one only has to think of Freddie's duet with David Bowie, Under Pressure. Or what about George Michael and Aretha Franklin. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Stevie Wonder and Syreeta, I mean they're not hard to come up with.
Freddie ranged over many styles, and brilliantly. Montserrat Cabailles sang in a more restricted field, but it's difficult to overstate how good she was at something that is incredibly difficult to do. Those floated high notes that were one of her calling cards, would achieve miraculous smallness, without falling apart, an effect that in many operas she was able to deploy to sublime effect. Freddie was a natural singing talent, and he worked his voice. But he could not have sung opera without training, and nor did she. She really worked hard to achieve the sound that made her career. It's really hard. So, this was a duet, by two legendary singers who allowed themselve this opportunity to explore one another's art, and meld the two together. Montserrat was not Freddie's backing singer.

I still, even after all these years, get chills watching this performance. I remember the first time I saw them perform together like this and I was completely blown away. This to me is one of Freddie Mercury’s best work and performance. This showed that he was soooo much more than just a rock star. I truly believe this is among his best work ever. Barcelona and Bohemian Rhapsody are two of my all-time favorites.
Freddie truly was one of those rare talents and will live on forever through his music. RIP Freddie, you are still missed!

@@Cozy25 безусловно, это правда. Но глядя на современные тренды в музыке(конкретно русские), меня охватывают переживания в первую очередь за духовное состояние молодёжи. Глубокие смысл песен 80-х, 70-х всегда заставляет меня задуматься о смысле жизни, о моих поступках. А слушая подавляющее большинство треков из трендов меня ничего не трогает. Это просто песни, под которые можно танцевать в клубах. Однако им уделяют такое большое внимание. А, не побоюсь сказать, классику почти все считают устаревшей, и ,что характерно, некоторые знают классику по перепевкам других, более молодых исполнителей. И я не хотел никого оскорбить, просто написал своё субъективное мнение про уровень музыкальной культуры в нашей стране. И я не против продолжить дискуссию по этой теме 🙂

Но в доковидную зиму ходила в наш , в Ижевске , оперный театр , школьников водят на балет , но именно водят! , классами . Но молодых ,,добровольцев" в театре не видела .

I just watched this again and I must say how much the love and respect Montserrat and Freddie had for each other, the abiding friendship meant. She described with tears in her eyes how Freddie was so concerned for her safety after he learned he was HIV Positive. Back then it was a death sentence. Freddie faced it bravely and the great opera diva
never stopped her loving friendship
for an amazingly unique and talented Freddie.

The energy I get from this ever-magnificent performance is Mr Freddie was really excited to show Madam Montserrat what he could do, doing all those fabulous gestures and range of voice - sort off like a young boy showing off before his great idol. The grand lady of soprano reciprocated by keeping cool and letting the boy show what he got first, before treating him to a spectacular refrain starting at 4mins30secs. Her facial expression while belting the powerful outro was almost like saying: "Now, now. You had your fun showing off. It's me now, boy. Enjoy it!"
Mr Freddie certainly did, right? Hahahaha. Oh, this showcase always gives me goosebumps! They both looked like they're having so much fun and love with each other...R.I.P. to both legends.

wow, I've always loved Freddie Mercury as the front man for Queen, but this just proves that he was at a completely other level than anyone else... I'm blown away and in awe of his talent and passion for music.. long live the Queen
This was the moment I realized Freddy was the most freakin best male singer songwriter and entertainer on the whole planet and I was just a teenager when this was performed and they both just blew me away. Absolute perfection this and always makes my hair stand on end. Rip beautiful beautiful people xx
Yes, I 100% agree with you. For me this was a side of him that we had never seen before and I fell in love with his music all over again. For me Barcelona and Bohemian Rhapsody are his best work. His album that was released after his passing, Made In Heaven, is my favorite album of his.
The album couldn’t have had a better title and many of the songs hit me hard. He knew he was dying and I think it’s reflected in many of the lyrics.
