Hey, you can also use the cucumber juice to add to cotton balls and put on tired puffy eyes! Just lay down for about 30 mjns with the soaked cotton balls and it will refresh your eyes and reduce puffyness.
Sweet! I just picked up a dehydrator this morning at the neighborhood yard sale, and it's still new in the box snd never been used. I can't wait for my peaches and apricots to mature...and now I'll try your cucumber idea! Thanks!
Darcy, you ALWAYS have exactly what I need as the harvest comes in strong. I never guessed cucumbers could be dehydrated and now I’m ON IT! So grateful for you!
I love your videos. I talk about you all the time to my family and I have them buying dehydrators now 🤣🤣 we all follow you and support your beautiful work. Thank you for your hard work and advice.
I love adding cubed cucumber to my limeade; I've even taken one/a half of one and used the stick blender to pulverise to add to the concentrate, before adding the water. Add some cubed cuke solids, and have cucumber limeade. DELICIOUS!!!!!
This is my Granny's Bread and Butter pickles, sat over night in the frig with the salt, brought to a boil with the brine the next day and opened Kettled, I know it is now taboo, but was so good 🙂
That looks super yummy! I went online yesterday looking for what to do with all the cukes we're getting! I found cucumber mint jam. DELISH! Now you've given me more ideas! Thanks so much!
I just bought some tzatziki earlier today. Now I can make my own in the future. I have to move that vacuum sealer up on my shopping list. It’s so much easier than the foodsaver attachments and handheld sealer.
I was thinking yesterday that I needed to check your playlist to see whether you had a video on drying cucumbers! Today is our last day before the rainy season starts so I have to harvest a lot of what's still left in the garden. I can't wait to make ranch dressing and taziki with some of the cucumber!
This is my favorite way to use them: ua-cam.com/video/7hbedRvuyxM/v-deo.htmlsi=vA8yODTZQsYHxIeL But my basic dehydrating cucumber and ranch dressing mix is here www.thepurposefulpantry.com/how-to-dehydrate-english-cucumbers/
Great ideas. I've also sliced and tossed in pickle juice overnight(in jar pickles were gone from) then dried. Tasty but not as salty as pickles. Will have to try some of these.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve got cucumbers coming out my ears, so I’m looking for everything I can do with cucumbers. I just finished making dill pickles and bread & butter pickles. God bless
That's funny, I have a friend who has those flames on her sewing machine! I watch pretty much all your videos, even though I admit I am intimidated by dehydrating sometimes! I was inspired but watching your dehydrating from frozen, so I tried wild blueberries! Oh lordy it took me 60 hrs to get them so the didn't stick to the jar when conditioning! I almost gave up at that point, but you have so many videos on what you can do with other stuff too, I just keep plugging along! And I'm loving it. Thanks for all your informative videos Darcy!
Well, blueberries isn't one of the first projects I'd recommend :D But dive into something else - now! Berries are definitely a long-drying process. Try something short ... like frozen hashbrowns or strawberries!
@@ThePurposefulPantry Thanks for the tips! I tried strawberries and did pretty well on those although you're right, berries seem to have a long dry time. But I am loving the idea of dehydrating hashbrowns!! I'm heading to the store now and I'll pick some up! Thanks again Darcy I'm so glad I found your channel!
This is brilliant. Cucumbers get slimy so fast in the refrigerator and I am always challenged with a lack of fresh cucumbers and I worry how long they will stay good in the Tzatziki sauce. Thus solves all the issues. Different subject-I have the 4 tray Excalibur. I love the low wattage of this machine. I need a second dehydrator. Have you done any studies testing a low watt 250 watt vs a 600 watt to see if things dry significantly faster to justify the larger use of energy? Would be thrilled to find out. Just discovered your channel. You are amazing.
Things will always dry faster in a higher wattage machine. Runs higher in the beginning, but gets things done faster - it's a toss up for you :) I think it matters more for those who use solar.
Hi, I’m getting my first dehydrated in a couple of days, there is only the two of us and I don’t have a large pantry so I’m not going to do a lot of different things. I’m only going to do things like herbs and onions and garlic for powders etc ( we’ll at least to start with). I’ve really been enjoying your video’s and I’m finding them very helpful. Do you have any tips for a first timer 🙏
I use a Cosori coffee grinder for smaller amounts, and a NutriNinja for larger amounts, and a Vitamix for greens/large quantity. I have them listed in my Amazon store: amzn.to/3Niacmk (this is an Amazon link and I may receive compensation for any purchase you made, at no extra cost to you).
Your so cool! I love watching your videos, thanks for teaching, I've learned some stuff. Would you recommend the corsori 6 drawer for a dehydrating newbie? Or should I go ahead and buy the 10 drawer bigger one? 🤔
I don't know your budget or your space. They are both good machines - it's what you need ;) You can see the difference between them here: ua-cam.com/video/m4BethQbgnY/v-deo.html
Because vacuum seals can fail, which allows your food to reabsorb moisture and mold. In canning, if it fails, it's bad period, and rings can hide that. With dehydrating, the ring provides the airtight seal you need, and vacuum sealing isn't necessary.
Did you say that you were saving the cucumber juice to make jelly question? Mark. I have never heard of cucumber jelly but it sounds really good I love cucumbers.
Hello I have a question.. I can’t search anymore ..I can not find the lids that suit the “ manual Can/ jar lid sealer” ..it’s the twist one like a can opener, but sealed the lids on jars. I have the Sealer but the wide mouth jar lids do not fit.. can you help me please.
You mentioned linking your ranch dressing mix. I don't see it and can't find it. It's probably right in front of me, 😂. We have 12 pickling cukes planted, and I can't wait to try the tzatziki recipe.
Do the chips stay crunchy, or do I need to put back in for a few more hours. When I took them out and they set they were crunchy, the next morning they are not crunchy...
If it was too large or there was a lot of empty space in the jar, they will reabsorb moisture from it. If you need to put them back in - it's fine. I tend not to store slices. Shreds and cubes, yes, but slices are generally for snacking, which we eat pretty quickly.
Where is the Ranch Dressing recipe? I followed the link and it did not take me to the recipe. I also put "ranch dressing recipe" into the search box, but was not able to see a recipe. Is it staring me in the face? Thank you to anyone who can point me to the recipe. :)
I was going to say the same thing. In the Arab world (where I lived for 30 years) it's just yogurt, cucumber, fresh garlic, dried mint and salt to taste. SO refreshing. And it's more of a salad than a "dip". There are a lot of variations and so versatile and tasty any way you make it! :D
Hey, you can also use the cucumber juice to add to cotton balls and put on tired puffy eyes! Just lay down for about 30 mjns with the soaked cotton balls and it will refresh your eyes and reduce puffyness.
Wow great idea. Thank you
Those cucumber juice ice cubes would be great to just throw into your water! What a great idea.
I didn't even think about that - I'm saving it for the jelly - but the water is a great idea!
Started a garden this year, I’m currently swimming in cucumbers! Ordering a dehydrated right now! 😂

What a great purchase! You can dehydrate fruit, veg, even make jerry. I love it for drying my own herbs for herbal teas. ❤

How did you store them?
@@ThePurposefulPantry I put them in air tight glass containers.
If it was too large or there was a lot of empty space in the jar, they will reabsorb moisture from it. If you need to put them back in - it's fine. I tend not to store slices. Shreds and cubes, yes, but slices are generally for snacking, which we eat pretty quickly.
Question, i have cucumbers that i bought from the store and they have the wax coating on them. Can i peel them and still dehydrate them?
You don't even have to peel them. You can do a quick boil if you want to remove it, or wash them with a scrubbie.
Ok thank you. 😀
Why do you put a ring on the sealed jar?
If the seal breaks for any reason, it is no longer airtight without the ring. General rule if thumb is rings off for canned, rings on for dry goods.
@@ThePurposefulPantry Thank you. 😊
How long do you rehydrate zucchini (yes, I know we're talking cucumbers) 😂 if I wanted to make zucchini fritters?
Until they are soft. Are you using warm water? A cold water soak? It doesn't take long.
Jelly? Did you say there will be cucumber jelly??? I'm so curious now. ❤
