“Life’s like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.” Finding out how the summer tubs did every year are some of my favorite videos from your channel. Glad the CBDs did well for you! I’m guessing the shrimp yields will be in a month or so when you bring in the greenhouse.

Same here, it will get down to 45F the next few nights, so I brought in my CPD yesterday. Super happy with the yield though, they don't breed well for me indoors, I put out 6 and pulled about 30.
My medaka and white clouds will stay outdoors for a few weeks though.
Outdoor tubing is just awesome, I've been doing it for my 9th season this year as well 😊

I’m so glad I’ve started keeping a few Uruguayan species of cichlids. They did so well outside in the pond, and they have had zero issues with late season cold snaps. I’m still bringing healthy fry inside, and there was frost last night. It’s incredible. I have so many Cichlasoma dimerus, and austarloheros scitulus fry!

It's time for me to empty my tub of shrimp as well. At the end of the week the temps are looking to dip to a minimum of 7C for a few days. I hope some of the shrimp survived, since I messed up the topping up part after evaporation. I topped it up with old aquarium water, and when I measured the TDS a few days ago it was over 500, so I hope some survived. I only put in 5 as a test (4 females, 1 male, and I never saw the male), so no big loss in the worst case scenario. For next year I'll refill with tap water, since I can't catch rainwater on my balcony.
For my first year I did learn a lot, not all my plants did a well as I'd hoped, and next year I want another, even bigger tub.

I have had something come through my tubs hunting for fish and I have lost quite a few fish this year outside. In one tub of platyfish, all the fish of all sizes disappeared in a day! I am guessing it was a snake, but my goodness he was a great hunter! I may need to make covers for my tubs next year.

So, you probably covered this in the spring video(s), but I have taken a great many blows to the head as a younger man and my memory is a bit spotty. If you would, tell us how many fish you started with opposed to what you ended up with. I'd love to hear what the ratio differences were between the species was. I'd also love to see what those sunfish look like if you have a chance to throw a few pictures of them up on Instagram or Facebook.

Thanks for the update. Hope your time off has been amazing and relaxing. Your plants are beautiful. Enjoy the new baby fish! This was my first year with a mini pond. I had plant issues. It's alright though. Out of the trio of flagfish I put in a 40 gallon porch tub I got a handful or 2's worth of fry. I'm in Florida so I figured I'd try to over winter some adults in the tub and bring the rest in. Thankfully I don't have to worry about that till Nov/Dec. Next year white clouds and orange rice fish are on the list.

I really need to start preparing to bring in my tubs but I’m very worried about my yields
My guppies seem to have done very well my shrimp look good all but my cherries ( not sure how many females I had ) but my neons zebras and long fin leopards I don’t think I have seen any fri from and my CPDs I did see one baby earlier this year but nothing sense
All my tubs I have had trouble with tadpoles
Sooooooooo many in every tub I’m definitely putting screen over them next year

I moved out 4 this year. I always think the more space the better, honestly- provides a more stable environment. I also like to start the tubs about 6 weeks before adding fish in order to allow daphnia and other tiny creepy crawlies to grow as a food source and the plants to fill in.

Here in upstate NY the season has ended abruptly with the onset of daily 60's and night's in the 40's. It went so fast but this first year was a blast and I got a good take on the Rice fish. Question...I have carnivorous pitcher plants like yours. Do they have to "sleep" for the winter or can I keep them as houseplants?

Hey there! I live your videos! You have been a huge part of my learning about the hobby. We are in CA and with all these fires we have a lot of ash coming down. I have a 30 g tub with a couple small feeder goldfish. I’ve been adding water and letting it overflow a little every few days. Do you think the ash will do anything to the water quality? Should I be adding anything to help?

Man I had an awful tubbing season. I lost so many fish.... I got about 6 white cloud fry but they’re still skinnier than a sprinkle so I don’t think they’ll make it. Not even any livebearer fry. I’m so gutted. Idk if I’m going to tub again next year. If I do I’m never putting out fish that are extra special to me. Not that they aren’t all special but there’s always one or two that really big personalities or some dream fish that took a long time to get. Man, I’m going to miss those guys.... I feel like I killed them. I’ve explored a lot of possible causes and I think the bottom line is I didn’t take them in soon enough. Man... ugh. I guess at least the fish I bough this spring were from quality hobbyist breeders so my stimulus money went to them and not something else that would just have gone towards a large corporation. The older ones I bred myself last year I guess are just live and learn

This is my first year doing a tub on my balcony, so I am learning I have to really watch temperatures to be safe. I just have two tubs: 5 red mosaic dumbo guppies and their fry. I hope yours transition well to indoor living! Also, I love rats, too. I had the best pair of brothers but both passed away last summer after 2.5 years.
