Those shrimp who survived against those sneaky fish are the toughest friggin' shrimp. I hope they settle their new lands and build a new shrimp empire.
Your smile at the start warmed my heart, love hearing you speak about what you do. Theres nothing better than listening to someone talk about somthing with passion so inspirational.
maybe a good idea would be to have a 5 gallon bucket filled with water and toss all the plants into them and maybe any lingering shrimp would come off and you could easily get them out of the bucket when you then move the plants to trash or wherever.
Shrimp are such interesting creatures. I would love to get some, but I'm not yet confident that I can give them everything they need. I'm still learning and these videos really help. Right now I only have one planted tank that's well established. My goal is to get all three aquariums planted and balanced before trying something new. Seeing your beautiful shrimp really inspired me to get restarted on my failed 20 gallon long. Thanks for the inspiration.
My boyfriend lives in Dillsburg PA, and we often drive through York whenever I visit, after i found out you live in York i was MESMERIZED! Small world!! And dont worry, I wont be a creep and come visit you LMAO!!! Love you lots Rachel, I am so glad to see that you are doing better
I've mixed blue and red neocardinia shrimps in a tank couple months ago and I noticed today that some of their offsprings are turning very dark, almost black! It's an interresting resultat that I was not expecting ^^
With as awesome as your fish room is, this green house would be my favorite hang out/maintenance place to be. Those rili and cherrys look beautiful! I’m stoked to see what else comes out. As always thanks for your updates. You look happy with your shrimps.
Watching this video made me want to do something similar, I live in the UK and it’s cold here so I’m doing what I can and using heated storage tubs. I put in 8 reds and 14 yellows into their own tubs.... I’m hoping they get breeding soon. It’s my winter project
Your content always inspires me. I had a massive yield on daisys rice fish this year and hope to do shrimp outside next year. Thank you for bringing us along!
Did my first summer tub this summer in the UK. Just tested with some of my culls in a 30 litre planter and oh my god did they adapt! I had hot days hot nights cold snaps then back to hot and they didn’t care! Put 6 shrimp outside in April and pulled out about 50 by September! Definitely going to try a bigger project next summer and I have you to thank for giving it a go!
Hey Rachel 😀 hope all is well !!! Good to see you missed you.... KEEP plugging away my friend ❤️!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ARRAY OF SHRIMP 🍤 colors are phenomenal great work as per usual!!!!!
Wow plants look nice. At least you're not chopping a sensitive vine down to get to things. 😊 Holy Shrimpers!! 😍 Nice Haul Rachel!!! 👍 Looking forward to the next vid. Thanks Rachel. 👍😃
I'm excited for the rice fish. Hopefully they will be more popular in the years to come. It's interesting how each year picks a favorite shrimp color. Give me a millimeter and I will personify anything. 🤷🏻♂️
Wow i didnt know fish would eat that many. i keep cherries with german blue rams and i see a few babies here and there and i planned for it to be that way but i though small fush would only eat a few of the really really little babies and only sometimes. i guess ill have to start a cherry only tank.
I think it works if you plan to have enough rock piles and hiding spots for the baby shrimp. I think the problem here is that the fish were a surprise and got into a tub that was planned all shrimp. prolly not enough hiding spots etc.
Use a shrimp trap , cost nothing and makes the job easier, like a fish trap : a plastic bottle cut in half and put together in reverse, some attractive food inside and put this in your tub a few days before you do the rest.
Were the killifish left over from last year or maybe hatched out in the tub? Could also have been fish eggs on the plants. Always intriguing what can be found in a tub. Your shrimp are beautiful...especially the racer striped yellows. Thank you for sharing. I do think you put out some Daisy's but not 100% sure.
Your cherry shrimp look amazing! My tubs didn't do as well this year. I didn't put as much time into them as I did last year. 2020 has really f**ked up my mojo! I do have lots of tad poles though. Take care. Love to you and your girls.
Great editing choice I’ve notice in both this and your outdoor tub cleaning video; showing the beginning processes of cleaning, then jumping to the end result. Although it’s a small editing decision on your end, it’s effective and keeps viewers engaged by not spending too long on a single tub. I’m a newer viewer so maybe this is a common editing style of yours, but never the less I appreciate those edits. Thanks for sharing your hobby and continuing to make content!
@@knyghtryder3599 Well I know she's in Pennsylvania and I surveyed a lot of streams in PA. There are a ton of Blacknose dace in a PA, even if you can't find anything else in a stream there's usually Blacknose dace or Sculpins.
Nature is crazy how things just turn up in places. Just googled and they lay eggs so maybe they come in through the water? Maybe if you use well water? I don’t know I live in the UK, we don’t get well water... Just the stuff pumped full of chemicals 😐
On a more serious note, I emptied my 100 gallon tub on Sunday and found out why a had no fry this year. Dragonfly nymphs, 5 large ones living in the bottom of the tub. How do you deal with these?
you can use a chitin inhibitor, but that will also wipe out the live food supply. I find that doing sweeps with a net once a week is effective as the dragonfly larvae often cling to the sides of the bins.
Oh my goodness! This happened to me but with my tadpoles. I had no idea till it was too late and what's crazy is I watched so many dragonflies with great happiness as they tackled down the nasty horse flies, and the wasps that were killing my bees. I knew their larvae grew up in water. But I didn't have a outdoor pond, my neighbors did. So I always thought they came from there. My indoor pond with inside my greenhouse and I never once seen a dragon in there. Strange. And sad. Lost all my future baby toads that I was going to release back into the wild (in my garden with their parents.lol)
I'm starting to think that maybe the blues just dont have the survival rate of normal cherries. No matter how healthy my blue dream tank is, there always seems to be a decent amount of them, but there just never seems to be a real population boom. Congrats on the reds and yellows, they look awesome!
Loved watching this, I love shrimp and your videos. Can I ask (sorry new to the channel) if it yields more shrimp by putting them outside in the greenhouse? Thanks !
Do you by chance have a video or any good sources to start a greenhouse like this? It's so cool and I'd love to get a decent start in studying it for early next year for spring
I love watching your videos, I learn so much. I really want to buy some cherry and blue shrimp if they can be kept together. I did look at your sale page, but it hasn't been updated in awhile. 😊🦋🌹🦋😊
oh good point you made at the end. leeches. How do you get rid of leeches? I just had some pop up in a tank and I ended up taking it apart but I'm afraid they're in my other tanks
I lost mine also due to having house (inside) painted. I had .covered fish tank, but next morning catastrophic loss, all cherry red shrimp, hillstream loach, gobies, (it's a nano community tank). Makes me sooo sad. Luckily in the bedroom tank not affected, so zebra danios & male betta ok. Depressing - I had originally had several suppliers of very high quality cherry shrimp, think the nicest were from Sharon Emory. Had for several 3-4 years and probably had easily over 1k. Still doing 20% water changes every 4 5 days. Back to checking ph, and all values every 3-4 days😢😭
Merry Davis omg that’s crazy! My heart breaks for you 😢 You don’t think it was the paint fumes, do you? I’ve heard of parrots dying from fumes but never thought it might effect fish. I hope things get better for you and your hobby soon!!!
I am looking for koleah loach. Sorry for the spelling, I sneezed so hard my soft palette is swelling. (Google is not helping right now.) I live in massachusetts. I don't see any here, please help
This is my 1st year with my pond. I'm in south jersey so i have similar temperatures. Planning on bring my 150 rubbermaid in the garage over winter (50ish degrees) Will shimp survive over the winter at that temp?
what about newly released babies that are clear-- I feel like you will never catch those so why don't you just leave the plants in there and let nature take it's course and check back in after a few months. They're pretty resilient and can easily live in lower temps. You never know! You could end up with another 200 + if you waited a little longer
Those shrimp who survived against those sneaky fish are the toughest friggin' shrimp. I hope they settle their new lands and build a new shrimp empire.
You are truly an inspiration to me both personally (for what an awsome person you are!), and as a new-ish hobbyist. Thanks over and over!
Your smile at the start warmed my heart, love hearing you speak about what you do. Theres nothing better than listening to someone talk about somthing with passion so inspirational.

I always look forward to the end of tub season to see how the shrimp did. They have some amazing colors as always.
👍💓👍
I was very pleased except for those damn fish!
@@RachelOLeary hey do you sell the shrimps? I'm looking for some shrimp that won't bust my bank account

Rachel O'Leary UGH to see the greenhouse and fish room in person..., WOW!! A dream come true🥺💖
If I could only be so lucky to end up with some mystery fish LOL
We had mystery fry this season. They pooped up in an all plant tub. They hitched a ride as eggs on a plant from a nearby tub so mystery solved!!!
These harvest videos are some of my favorite
I've mixed blue and red neocardinia shrimps in a tank couple months ago and I noticed today that some of their offsprings are turning very dark, almost black! It's an interresting resultat that I was not expecting ^^
I always enjoy watching the surprises you find in the tubs! thank you for sharing the experience :)
the boys are looking great
I love your vids and watch them all. Hugs Rachel
IT'S MY FAVOURITE VIDEO OF THE YEAAAARRRRRRRR
Great video as usual! Sorry to see summer tubbin coming to an end. Stay safe and 'keep swimming".;)

The cherry shrimp are beautiful! I hate the fish got the blue ones. As always I loved your video. 👍
amazing how u can see the eggs in the Riley shrimp :)
I love your tubs! Really do wish you the best. 💕💕Love yourself bc you have so many amazing qualities.
looking forward for the next video
Wow! The shrimp are stunning ....their colors are so vibrant! ♥️😊
You can compost the water hyacinth, it is only invasive in places that don’t freeze during the winter.
I did for some, but there is so much

I moved greens out but havent harvested yet
Thank you for another great update! Hang in there . And may God bless you
I love seeing the result of the tubs! Such a fun surprise! Thanks, Rachel!
The summer tub conversion process looks crazy. Like what would I even do with all the plants that grow out on my deck!? I don’t even know! 🤣
the struggle is real!
I'm excited for the rice fish. Hopefully they will be more popular in the years to come. It's interesting how each year picks a favorite shrimp color. Give me a millimeter and I will personify anything. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice yield! I was thinking though to make it easier to catch them, maybe put a sponge on a hose and drain some of the water?
Beautiful vegetation and many species 👌
I love shrimp.
Just like me when I am looking for my tiny little baby betta
These videos are my favorite videos you do! Thank you for always sharing.
Very beautiful. Hope you are growing through this time healthily and well. ❤️
my favorite time of year!! what an awesome yield this year. I'm receiving some cherries for my new shrimp tank tomorrow, can't wait to learn the ropes

Water hyacinth is not invasive in zones 7 and lower, and can be safely composted because they cannot survive winter

That fish from the blue shrimp tub had a great summer 😂
and a really, really round belly!
Love you, Rachel!
I thought they were Blacknose dace, but then I was like I don't think they can walk from a stream into a greenhouse.
wow that is an unusual fish shout out , my favorite fish is chrosomos cumberlandensis , black side dace
@@knyghtryder3599 Well I know she's in Pennsylvania and I surveyed a lot of streams in PA. There are a ton of Blacknose dace in a PA, even if you can't find anything else in a stream there's usually Blacknose dace or Sculpins.
Bender Fender Nice to know! I have an interest in natives, but not much luck breeding yet still trying though!
The plants I used were from the south
Love all your vids to do with the tubs and big garden. Those shrimp colours look amazing!
How do you think the leeches got in there?
no clue- they just seem to appear, like daphnia, mosquito larvae, etc
I had leaches all over my sponge filters this year
Nature is crazy how things just turn up in places. Just googled and they lay eggs so maybe they come in through the water? Maybe if you use well water? I don’t know I live in the UK, we don’t get well water... Just the stuff pumped full of chemicals 😐
More likely is from the plants

I really enjoyed this video Rachel... well done... but I’m curious... what do you feed them? Do they survive on decaying plant matter alone?
I don't, they eat the algae and scum from the tubs
Setting a trap with food inside could help you.
What species of killifish do you reckon randomly showed up in your tub. haha that's so wild it has happened to you 2 years in a row.
They are Lucania
Gamba-tte! Hehe
Love plants in my tank of red tiger endlers
Yikes, are those blue fin killis?
Those yellows are🔥 tho.
They are
Do they at least have nice blue colour from eating so many blue shrimp?
keep your chin up kiddo, We need you too

Probably a stupid question, but how do the leaches get in the tubs?
Mostly likely they were attached to aquatic plants as eggs or when they were very small.
Dang, I really need to get some cherry shrimp, I wish they weren't so pricy in my area.
