Hey guys! Not sure WHY youtube is not using my thumbnail, but hey- that is the joy of being a creator right? Anyway, I thought I would respond to some of the most frequently asked questions about summer tubbing. How are your tubs doing?

I've had a tub I bought at Walmart for $3 that's been doing great for two years now. It's not an outdoor tub, it sits on the floor of my closet. 18gal max, I tend to keep it around 12gal so it doesn't burst.
I bought it just to have someplace to put my swarm of guppies when the original 6 made about 50. They've now ballooned to over 100 and I'm just trying to find a day to run the extras to my LFS.

I have had two ponds for over twenty years which i love but I did my first tub this year. I have hyacinth and lilies in it as well as four gold fish. Oh and some duck weed. As the hyacinths double i throw the daughter plants into my ponds. I also throw excess duck weed into the ponds too which my bigger fish, koi and goldfish, love to eat. A good hobby and I am really enjoying it.
      I love your youtube shows!

Excellent to hear. I'm curious, what fish/inverts do you keep in your tub, and what are the ambient temps in your area? I've got guppies and endlers, and our latest "heatwave" got up to the high 30s C. Overnight, the tub temp can get down to 20, even with a 300W heater.

Great video. Can you address two issues….1. How to deal with extreme heat so many of us have experienced this Summer. 2. Best fish to start out with in our tubs. Maybe a top 5 best fish to tub. 3. Best location for tubs - Sun, Shade or combo?
Thanks again for all the content that you upload to YT. Hot again today in Maryland.

My first try at tubbing is a great success so far. I have a 40 gal tub with golden danios and rosy minnows. They are all happy and active and I see all sizes of fry in there. It’s amazing.
UPDATE: the golden pearl danios have totally changed colour. In the store they were a light gold. Now they’re all a dark silver colour with blue and purple shimmer on their sides. The fry are all black. Amazing!

Beautiful. I live at a apartment complex.I have a 20 gallon flower pot I bought at Home Depot with some lava rocks and a lot of java ferns and Anubis’s plants. I had a fish net over it so no one or neighbors mess around with it.I had 1 betta in there.well I had it for a month outside near my door and my dam neighbors are a holes. They “spilled” car oil and fell in my pot.there my upstair neighbors.I came home from work pissed I cleaned it up and moved it in my home with heater and filter today.I can’t have shit outside and I really wanted the natural light (morning sun only) and wind on my flower pot.I was so happy but like always.ppl in the world gotta fuck things up

My resident raccoon population has been thrashing my lily pads, and water hyacinth, pretty much nightly. The kits take single bites out of the crunchy bits, but the guppies are out breeding any predation by far.

    • @ReneesZooTube

I made a wire mesh top for my tub pond because of raccoon raids. I used pvc coated welded wire mesh garden fencing. So far has stopped at least 3 raids. Last year, before the topper, they managed to catch and kill several of my Medaka Ricefish.

Awesome image quality! Did you get a new camera?
My tubs are doing pretty well this year, even though the summer here is nothing to write home about. Very little sun, lots of rain and below average temps. The (endler) guppies are being guppies, but my biggest surprise is my M. kubotai and D. erythromicron tub.. there is fry *everywhere*. To the extent that I'm already looking to set up temporary tanks to grow them out after the summer before finding a new home for them. The fillamentous algae is also out of control in that tub. The only tub without algea issues is the guppy tank, those guys keep is nice and clean.
    How is the bog doing?
