Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on February 2, 2024.
Kill the Justice League is the fifth main installment in the Batman: Arkham series, taking place five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, and the first not to feature Batman as the main protagonist, though the character still appears, posthumously voiced by Kevin Conroy in his final performance as Batman. Based on the DC Comics supervillain/anti-hero team the Suicide Squad, the game revolves around the titular team of super-criminals, who are assembled by Amanda Waller and sent to Metropolis to stop the alien invader Brainiac and save the members of the Justice League brainwashed by him.

It took Rocksteady a decade and a half and three games to build up all that goodwill and WB Games had them blow through it in about a year. Nice job.
Yeah. I feel sorry for devs who hate chasing a trend but have to cos corporate tells them to if they want a job.
They were rumored to be making a TMNT game, I was so hyped. Instead we got Marvel Avengers 2.0, this crap will be dead and forgotten just like Gotham Knights was. This is the definition of not being able to read a room.
Did you play Arkham Origins though?

With the Justice league instead of the suicide squad.
Dude thats what you want, and other people want, but guess what... it's not, its not the same thing they made in the past, get over it... it's a game maybe not for you, but for people who are interested in it. Easy.
@@MalikATLI heavily disagree on that
Honestly I was looking forward to this game when it was first announced because I love Suicide Squad and think a Suicide Squad game would be awesome. But honestly, after finding out it’s live-service and it’s forced online multiplayer, I really have no interest anymore.

This is my biggest issue with games like this. Avengers. Gotham Knights. They're all holding a interesting and appealing narrative, that they know people would want to see, in the dullest, most mind numbing, and boring grind, a human could possibly experience. Even hearing about the gameplay experience you had, nearly put me to sleep. The sooner this trend of live service games crashes and burns, the better off we all shall be
Exactly, the premise sounds really cool but it's wrapped up with generic and utterly uninteresting gameplay.
After all who wants to grind until the game gets interesting/good. Surely the game should be DESIGNED good from the get go.

I heard both of those games had awful stories.
“I don’t know why you’d pay $70 to get 7 minutes of interesting content, and then 2 hours of bloat and then you gotta sift through all that bloat to get to the good stuff.” Welcome to live service.
I know this seems harsh, but I genuinely hope this game tanks financially. WB Games should have recognized long ago that the live service model is not the right call for Rocksteady, these characters, or the publisher in general. We've seen so many games like this die spectacularly, and quite literally only a handful truly succeed. The people who pushed the game in this direction need to learn. If that harsh truth requires utter failure, so be it.
Its a real shame that Rocksteady had to be the one to take the bullet they are so damn talented
For honor, hitman, rainbow six seige, the crew 2, riders Republic, division, gta 5, assassin creed orgins Odyssey & valhalla, wildlands & breakpoints, Warhammer vermintide, shadow of war. All great games

You can see the effort put into de game but it's just that the majority of the focus went on the least atractive parts for us who'd play the game.
Oh man, I wish. And it's not like we can't turn them into loot. King Shark could get brass knuckles and claws for pure melee
there's actually 2 games in Suicide Squad
one is from Rocksteady with good characters, good writing, story, voice acting and good small missions (as Luke said ~7 mins)

Then there's this attempt to distance devs from what they made. Executive directives or not, this game was never going to be good.

And the worst part will be that it tanking will affect them INSTEAD OF corporate.
Never forget this feeling. Don't preorder. Follow developers directly. Most of the actual people who made the Arkham series don't work there anymore. When you replace your whole staff, especially the leaders, you have a new company. It's just wearing the Rocksteady skin suit.
@@BouncingTribbles Exactly, and only just recently I believe, the 2 co founders of RS have now also left and started another AAA studio with about 100 or so employees, all who have been in the industry for 15+yrs. They're no longer under the thumb of WB, hopefully only good things to come.
@@RV-vx9ek What's the studio?

Seems like the game is going to be what I expected based on the trailers and news. I doubt I'll pick this up. I loved Arkham Asylum and especially Arkham City. I had hoped Rocksteady would remain focused on story-driven games as they know how to make that type of games imo.
Yeah. Just wait for your favourite reviewer to cover it and see if it'll even be worth it on sale.

Feels so sad. A solid 6/7 from a studio that should be making a 10. Great impressions. These companies don't realize how groundbreaking addictive the game loop has to be to make a real live service.
That's it right there; the gameplay loop. THAT'S what keeps a player coming back for 100+ hours. Corporate doesn't understand that. All they see is paper.
A 6/7 out of 10 is fucking generous, I'd rate it even lower because this is not what the customers wanted nor asked for out of Rocksteady.
And people said the Division was bad….Whilst many never played it,Yet already it had cool physics,Weather systems,Continuous combat updates,Realistic awesome looking map based off an apocalyptic America/Earth,Still untouched as one of the best looter shooters,This game is even worse than Avengers so let that sink in.

I cannot imagine, as an adult, spending money on a game that is explicitly designed around playing with the same group of friends. It's rare that I get time to play games myself, let alone with the same group of friends, and if we ever do it's maybe one or two hours. This approach to games is perfectly fine for lower priced or free games, but a triple A title really should be fully playable alone or it'll just go the route of really any other fully-priced game that requires a consistent squad

It's a real shame this is what Rocksteady has been working on as opposed to you know a Superman game...
Superman games are cursed
For some reason, DC has been tryna put all their chips into the suicide squad lately despite them flopping so many times. It literally makes no sense to skip over such household name characters just to jump to a team that hasn't really done the franchise any favors in almost its entire existence.
Edit: I forgot the SS did good with merchandise at one point but that was mainly for the 2016 movie that died out. So yeah, still don't know what DC is thinking
Especially for 9 years straight
Thanks to WB, if rocksteady was able to make the calls on what to make I strongly believe we would've had possibly another incredible single player experience.
@@dixonb.tweenerlegs4225 pretty easy to see what they want, they want an Avengers situation so they can make bank (group of characters so they can make individual movies around each one with merch ect) that is the dumbass money making exec brain at work. Would they make a serious amount of money with a Superman title? Yes, of course but not as much as a game with a battlepass and store if it actually somehow keeps an audience. They are willing to take that chance and burn whole IPs and studios to find that golden egg, to them it is a small price to pay.
The live service aspect is what will and does kill the enjoyment from the sounds of it. I feel Rocksteady will rely on the BP to keep people engaged instead of the game itself. It'll be an MTX hellscape I'm sure of it. They didn't put the store or BP tab during Alpha for a reason because they know it will be a point of contention.

The moment i saw the announcement for this game and who was making it i KNEW what kind of game it would be. And here we are idk how many years later and its once again true. I truly do not know what people realistically thought was gonna happen.
You haven't seen the extreme copium from morons buying The Day Before, and yes, those that STILL defend the game sayin' "the new devs will pick it up and fix it". Calling them ignorance is an insult to ignorant people, that is willingly get scammed and coping extremely hard to lie to themselves. That is delusional.
It's hilarious that people think you can't judge games based on pre-release and without playing them. I knew what Avengers would be like before it came out, and the open beta proved everything about it. And the way that went was unsurprising and everything about this and GN is very clearly brainless execs who didn't see Avengers fail spectacularly with a brand that hasn't been struggling immensely beyond it's first movie many years ago. One which doesn't have a very positive long term fanbase which is why the sequel reboot thing flopped. And this game will flop too.
If they want to do a live service super hero game, they should make it FUN. First of all. ANd I don't just mean the gameplay, the art design and tone. Fortnite regardless of how you feel about it, has a great art design and by and large has done superheroes far more justice lately than alleged AAA games dedicated to them like Avengers, Gotham Knights and soon Suicide Squad.
If you're not going to make a new Batman, then go for cartoony. Then all the comic book accurate costumes will look good and actually might have wallets opening up.
After Akham Knight dropped, if you would've told me that Rocksteady's next game would be a looter shooter, I would've spit at your feet and said "GOOD DAY SIR", then walked away.

Pretty sure everyone knew that this was gonna be a blunder since they revealed the battle pass and shop . The only redeeming factor it might have is that it’s being written by what’s left of rocksteady
That first game play trailer for the game is when I knew. The battle pass is whatever cause I would not even get it regardless. The story seems like it's gonna be the best part of the game.

I hate it that because some people buy into this crap of live service games, gaming companies will keep pumping these out.
Hope they eventually charge players for booting up the game, pay-per-session subscription and coughing extra to save, in addition to paying for an already unbaked, unfinished alpha that costs as much as medical bills to have it "finished".

It's very much like days gone. Starts very slow and they restrict a whole lot of skills that make it engaging. Zombie hordes with gus and guides your hand alot early on. I only started to have fun after the penguin interaction where I unlocked new skills and grenades. Slow first couple hours then picks up
You know the arena battle missions in Spider-Man? The ones you do if you really, really like the gameplay and need something to do outside the story? That's what most of the STORY missions feel like in this game. It's the same issue I had with Marvel's Avengers. It got old really quickly because you can be forced to stand in a circle and fight generic goons for only so long.
It sounds like a true example of the battles of corporate vs. artist. There are signs of a really great game, but the corporate profit quota interrupts the artist’s vision. 😢
Yeah and it's a shame because this game prob won't be remembered for it's story but for corporate burying it the moment it underperforms.
I'm like most of us, I think. I was really excited by the prospect of a Rocksteady Suicide Squad game. It being Kevin Conroy's last performance also had me pretty invested. I don't usually get excited about a big AAA thing, unless it is Doom or a few other series. I let myself get pretty hyped for this. Welp, here we are. It's another one of these. I might check it out when it is discounted just for the story mode...which surely will not be tacked on to herd people online. It's a shame.

So are most of the missions out on the rooftops??! I’m so confused. What about infiltration? Anything indoors?? Any other objectives than shoot and fly around rooftops?
Exactly. All of the gameplay I’ve seen looks like you’re doing the same thing for every mission. Get on a group of rooftops, defend the area from waves of the same enemies and repeat that
There are indoor missions but a lot of the missions do take place around buildings in the city
There are many different objectives than just shoot like the bat man mission for example.
As you constantly need to jump around I'll say yup rooftops

and quickly after saying that just say, nah just give them all guns makes this a looter shooter with gear drops and floating numbers.
Yikes bro
I've been going through the Borderlands games again and I think those offer more genuine experiences than this. Sure the Borderlands stories, especially 3 can be cringe, but that was back when the looter shooter genre felt new and unique. I'm sure it's a good sign that a live service game they want you playing for months gets boring after 2 hours.
It’s a shame because I feel like there are so many things that looks right. The character models, facial expressions, and energy between the cast members feels so fleshed out that I almost feel like this game should’ve been smaller scaled and linear.
We just have to come to terms with the fact that this Rocksteady is just not the Rocksteady of the past at all. There won't be any more awesome single-player games from them. Very, very unfortunate.
Plus they'll have an uphill battle getting people to be excited about future SP projects they take on after this.
I played the beta and actually really enjoyed it. It’s not what I wanted nor expected from Rocksteady after being a fan since Asylum, but I enjoy the gameplay and think it’ll be fun with friends. I genuinely think if a different studio made this exact game there’s be a whole lot less blow back and more people would be accepting of it, but it’s so different than what Rocksteady has previously put out that it’s only natural for people to be skeptical
Every game is fun with friends. Plus you'd have to somehow convince friends to actually buy this mediocre game.
@@BeHempy It’s really not that bad, it’s just not the masterpiece that a Rocksteady game should be. Anyone who likes games like Borderlands or the Division will find some kind of enjoyment from this
And destiny @@TemptationsofaRaggedAngel
So for Suicide Squad, I will say the gameplay isn't so bad, I do like the flow of combat even if some if it feels janky like the snap shop when melee and how locked in it feels.
I do like the traversal for all the characters, I think Boomerang and Deadshot have the best, King Shark isn't the best but is the easiest to use. Harley's isn't so great in my opinion since I feel like it isn't as traversal but a nice touch is you can hold the wire, swing and shoot from mid-air.
The slide and perfect landing feels off to me, I can rarely get it right.
The Voice acting is amazing and some of the motion capture is quite good. and the ideas after Arkham Knight is nice, but I kinda wanted a game during that time and hope to see how things became the way it was.
When you pick a character which is somehow annoying to do than it should be, and start match making. If you see 3 Harleys and 1 Shark, your first thought is to swap to even things out and be able to hear different dialogue.
Unless this is a locked feature, but since its 3 months away, you can't switch characters until you leave the session. Like, why?
And the matchmaking is terrible, feels lifeless and it can be abused, I joined a game and this guy purposefully idled and there is nothing that can be done.
I'm most concerned is about the gameplay experience, the loot doesn't feel rewarding or really special. I sometimes forget I can loot things from the ground. And they don't look all that spectacular, because they want to sell cosmetics that look better than what you get in the game.
The menu design feels clunky, feels like a maze for me to navigate especially on PC. And for a PC port they half assed it, the controls is strange...L-Alt is the Dodge button which can be important since it activates other things. Had to rebind it.
And, at least with the introduction missions, the pacing was terrible, you could be doing a longish mission then suddenly doing short ones that are poorly cut off. It felt off to me.
Admittedly, the only thing that would make me want to buy this at the moment is the story and characters of the Justice League.
I'm super upset with what they did to batman, ain't no way they did my man that dirty.
10:28 They did on purpose that because of releasing game on Steam.
Rockstar did same with RDR2 with slow paced prologue for 2h expiration so you can't refund the game after knowing how combat and gameplay plays.
It's a scummy practice what EA and Ubi did with couple games years ago.
Suicide Squad is what you get when a company begins with a battle pass then designs a game to support the battle pass.
Definitely gonna watch the cinematics and understand the story on UA-cam and move on
I dont usually play looter shooters. But I have been a fan of Suicide Squad since I was a kid. I typically play games like dragon dogma, witcher, baldur gate, guild wars 2 and ff14. Shooters arent usually my things less cyber punk /mass effect
The live services I am a bit eerie about BUT they are apparently adding an offline mode.
I will give the game a chance because imo it looks fun. By all means it is fine if you dont think the game is your thing. I think for me it will be a change of pace from what I usually play. I think it will be fun for me to play solo and with some friends. Idk if the game is worth 70 though but i do know ... I do wanna play the game. Just dont know if i am willing to pay 70😂
Basically it boils down to will I get my money worth with the game costing 70 .. or wait for a sale. Regardless I will play the game but I may wait for a sale.
I have seen opinions from both sides. I think this will prob be one if thise games that you either really love it or hate it. Could possibly fall into just being mid for but i think it will be one extreme or the other. Just from the different alpha reviews i have seen .
Try Borderlands dude, I'm sure it's under $5. If you actually like that, even solo, you MIGHT like this. Otherwise, it's not worth it. I played the closed technical test. Trust me, if you don't like Borderlands, I highly doubt you'll like this. Very cheap way to see if you'd want to spend anywhere near full price on this lol.
I like the abilities and gameplay! I think wait for the reviews or see if any of your friends play it and see what they think. You can even add me and I'll definitely give my opinion. This game is basically gonna be Sunset Overdrive and Borderlands having a cool baby
"But I have been a fan of Suicide Squad since I was a kid" this is all you had to say, you will buy it ignoring all reviews because it must be different for you somehow and then you will see what others mean and be upset you fell for it. See how that tracks.
@@fish5645 Or maybe he'll like it ! I know a lot of people who liked the closed testing!
It always drives me nuts when reviewers say things like oh it was just an alpha it could be different. When has that ever happened?... LIKE EVER
Was never sold on playing these villains because im not into the alien sci-fi setting. I rather see these characters in something a bit grittier like Asault on Arkham but scaled up!
Imagine if they had made a Green Arrow Black Canary game
Why does this game even exist after what happened to Square Enix and the Avengers game?
It was probably already too late to scrap it. They're probably gonna crap this out and try to recoup as much money as possible before they inevitably shut down the servers within a year.
Money.
Sunk cost fallacy, they put too much money into the project so it has to be punted out the door before the end of the fiscal year in hopes that they get some money out of it.
When I see Sweet Baby inc is involved, I avoid immediately
Idk I actually liked the game during that alpha test. Maybe not to pay 70 bucks for it, but still enjoyable.
We need to understand this is simply not an Arkham game (which yeah I would've preferred)
Isn't this game part of the Arkhamverse ?
It was advertised as such at one time
But yeah with a trilogy like that I would be harsh too
@@gulgulgulgulgu yeah for what I understand it is in the same world, but I don't feel like they ever try to sell this game as a continuation of that trilogy.
Thanks for the coverage, Saul
"It's not my fault if the play test and the first couple of hours in the game are boring and bland and repetitive" I can think of some "Starfield" developer that would not agree with this statement :)
Still looking forward to this game with friends
The fact that this game became what it is, really depresses me
I’m confused why when enemies glow it’s an issue, the Arkham games have basic enemies doing the same thing all the time and it ain’t boring. Games like Destiny who are the same concept have been very successful and games like Doom are “overwhelming” but people love them
I feel it's likely less that they glow, and more how the glowing is handled, along with the type of game and such.
Enemies being distinct from eachother is a very important thing so you can easily prioritise targets, judge what they can do at a glance, how many there are, etc, but if you go overboard with glows and such you start muddling these vital visuals.
@@Darca1n from what I’m seeing, they all have different body builds depending what type of enemy they are
Literally the first word that came to my mind when i saw the gameplay is: Fortnite
So from the legendary Arkham games we move to this!? Jeez, standards have sure fallen alright
It's sad when the Avengers game managed to give every character a unique fighting style and Suicide Squad failed to do that.
From my time in the play test I'll say this:
It seems fun when playing with friends (like everything is) and is genuinely a funny game. It is very weird that they set this in the arkham world tbh, nothing other then the references really connected the two. One section has this really cool museum which basically replays the events of the arkham games, it's genuinely really cool and well done but that's kinda it and doesn't really go anywhere, just fan service. The combat was mid imo and the looter shooter aspect feels really generic. I just don't really see the aim of this game, the movement isn't all it's hyped up to be and the combat is as bland as we all said it looked in the trailer and oh lord don't start me on the UI.
Overall its very average, the kind of game you see on gamepass in a year or so and only play with Friends. Super disappointing considering Rocksteads pedigree and how much I love all the arkham games
They need to rename this game to Suicide Squad Killed the Gaming Studio
Hahaha… wow that was so funny 😂 😂😂 🤦♂️👎
Ngl I did chuckle a little
I’m still very excited for this game. To me, the story alone is enough to get me excited and that’s what I’m focusing on. The only thing that turns me off is the horrendous HUD display during combat. Apart from that I’m excited
If the story is all you care about, just watch all the cutscenes on UA-cam? Lol. Buying it supports this live-service MTX bs.
@@Paradox-es3bl cry about it , game looks fun

@@z0mbiedroper867idk I like how the gameplay looks. Looks like an updated sunset overdrive and I really liked that game as brainless as it really was lol
This seems to me another game that is just “dumb fun”.
You’re on the game with your homies, cracking jokes, maybe having a drink, just playing and not really trying to feel anything from the game. Just wasting time away.
And that’s cool. Nights like those with the boys is cool! I’d buy it…
For $25 max
I cant wait to watch all the cutscenes on youtube and call it a day. GG rocksteady
The batman section was awesome. My friends and I loved the surprise of it and I hope there's more like that in the game because if it was like that, and less flip your way to the next checkpoint, it would be awesome
Don't Worry Luke,
I trust you bro. (Source: Trust Me Bro)
The tighter lipped a company requires critics and content creators to be when it comes to their game the less I trust it as a whole that it is going to be a good game.
Facts🤦🏾
I genuinely don’t want to play the game after seeing Harley shoot Batman in the face
This is Kevin Conroy's last performance as Batman.... Let that sit in.
If there's anyone to blame, it's the greedy fucks at WB trying to milk live-service games and battle passes that were popular 5 years ago. I feel bad for the devs at Rocksteady who had to make a game that literally no one asked for.
I understand all of the hate and all of the concerns with this game, but as a huge fan of Suicide Squad I'm still going to play it. I don't really mind games that arent that good, but to me it looks fun and I don't mind live service games so I think I will have my fun with it, I also played the alpha and I really enjoyed myself I did have my problems with it and I hope that they change a few things, but I think I will have fun with this game
Imagine a linear single player game about the Suicide Squad, and everytime you die you have to play as a new member of the Squad. Easy mode you'd get 5 life lines per character. Normal you get 3. Hard you get 1. Imagine how awesome that would be. It's also fitting for members of the Squad to die, considering that are called the SUICIDE Squad.
We went from "Be the Batman" to "shoot the purple thingy." Not good.
“The concept of freedom of speech is often celebrated as a fundamental right, yet it is intriguingly juxtaposed with the existence of legal instruments such as non-disclosure agreements and gag orders. These mechanisms serve to curtail the very liberty they purport to protect, creating a complex landscape of expression bounded by the contours of legality.”
IMO if the focus was more leaned towards a narrative driven approach with less of a looter shooter theme it would be much better.
Luke you are describing marvel avengers a story that was good (maybe this one is going to be better) with good gameplay but repetitive with no changes from your player but just your weapons and if you want to change your character you have to buy costumes and the ones free are going to be just color swapped ones
Yep, really sounds like Avengers all over again…why do they never learn? I’m replaying Arkham Knight right now…and this game still slaps! Why not more of that?!?
Yup same story
I had fun with the gameplay and the story so far. I played a lot of the alpha (even got boomerang to the highest “LVL” you can get. While I don’t know if I’ll play much of the end game, I think I’ll have a good time with the game.
Same, though careful, differing opinions don’t fare well here
@@cuppedcupit’s more the fact we know their potential, as a first entry from a studio sure no qualms buy it if you like the look of it, but we’ve gone from Michelin star food to McDonald’s, sure it’s tasty and mindless but you know what could of been…
