Player numbers for Suicide Squad are lower than Helldivers right now. And I'm talking Helldivers ONE, which had it's already fairly low playerbase halfed due to the release of Helldivers 2.
Something no one talks about when talking about WB and Disney failures is the catastrophic status of marvel and DC comic books. They haven't turned a profit in probably a decade. Neither of them.
"Why are those helicopters flying if Green Lantern died" the right question would be: why did the ring stay in the earth, and why was it still with John? the ring only goes to the "worthy", and John became corrupted and would lose the ring. After the death of a Lantern, the ring goes away after another bearer, and I don't think King Shark would become a Green Lantern. maybe red could even be WHY IS THERE A GREEN RING ON THE EARTH? Why Rocksteady, why? Rocksteady lost our trust just like CDPR, but the difference is that they managed to turn things around by improving the entire game (literally) and managed to win us again, and as they have 2 franchises it's easier. But Rocksteady only had Batman, the only apology would be with a new Batman, but they killed Batman and Franchises
I feel like the core issue with any game based on a licensed property is that they run into using the wrong order of operations, i.e.: make a good game first and plop in recognizable characters second. The Arkham games weren't great because they had Batman, they were a great game with Batman in it. There was an interview with a writer (I think?) of the second live action TMNT Michael Bay movie who literally said something to the effect of thinking people would like it simply because they put Bebop and Rocksteady into it. That's not how entertainment works, and more producers and companies need to understand that.
@@yomamasohot6411 I would agree with you in spirit, but I know there exists people that will simply look at one date being earlier than the other, and apply that bias nonetheless.
If there was a leak in the future about CEOs trying to make the biggest flop possible then games like this, Avengers, etc would make sense and I would believe it. Because I don’t know how anybody was thinking this game was going to pop off at all. The same applies to movies, tv, just about all entertainment is filled with baffling decisions that would only make sense if they’re doing it on purpose for some reason.
I honestly believe even if the current dev team and story writing team at Rocksteady had made a single player game( god forbid with assistance from Sweet Baby Inc) that game wouldve been mediocre at best and forgotten on arrival at worst, as someone said, Blizzard is a dead skeleton run by ESG obsessed freaks and money hungry management so is Rockstead and a lot of triple A studios now.

I’ve been wondering if there are any Rocksteady devs who knew this game was gonna be garbage, said something about it, and were shut down. There has to be SOME right? It’s a shame either way
It's never a good sign when they quickly try to move on after saying it didn't meet expectations. It's already a low-key confirmation that they're having second thoughts of continuing to support it.
I will be shocked if this game makes it a year. The way WB likes to cut their losses, I could see the servers getting turned off, and this game being given some kind of "endless" sandbox mode for psychopaths to play offline.
As one of those 840 people playing, i had to stop last night because the update tanked performance. And can confirm the missions freezing and having to end game once mission is completed. I played a ton on ps5. Playing it on pc this week. And was enjoying it until this recent patch. Saw potential, but seems like they are going out of there way to end it just because it didn't meet there expectations. So those who stick around get screwed!
Man WB.. it's pretty obvious, even as someone who is not a Harry Potter fan, why one did better than the other. The Potter game: Respected the source material, sold a complete game, satisfying gameplay, met people's expectations in a satisfying way KTJL: Spat on the source material, sold a series of microtransactions and season passes, uber repetitive gameplay, failed to live up to a single expectation
The reason the patches are going to take so long and the DLC is going to dry up, is because all the Devs are busy punching up their resumes for the inevitable layoffs. I doubt the Rocksteady that existed before WB bought them is even there anymore.
Rocksteady has taken a serious hit to their reputation considering that they didn’t use their own writers and instead used a company that does the writing for your games but don’t know much about the source material.
@@Speederzzz So uh, much like industry standardization, they teach you the way you "should" write? Then what is the difference? They directly influence the content then
Warner Bros Discovery tried dropping the announcement after 4PM on a Friday, and their stock still lost 15% of it's value. People were paying much closer attention than WBD had hoped.
When Arkham Knight has 6000+ players vs less than 900 on Steam, it shows that there truly is a divide composed of different factors: the quality of the live-service, the legacy behind the studio, the franchise, the constant online requirement, the replayability.
I wouldn't give "devs" too much shit, as generally, they're told what to do and not do. Honestly, when the business side started to weasel its way into the game side, that's when gaming went down the drain.
I think they could redeem themselves if they made an arkham-style game out of batman beyond starring the original voice actor of Terry McGinnis. I would adore flying Terry around future Gotham.
If you played Helldivers 2 and going back to Suicice Squad all the flashing damage numbers, hit multipliers and ui elements really cause pain to my eye. It's such an improvement to have them absent in Helldivers because the health status is visible by looking at the enemies, when they lose limbs and being visibly damaged. This is sooo much better than all these damage numbers popping up, mixed with hit multipliers and stuff. Also aiming in SS seams to have no recoil and not requiring any skill to aim properly, shooting feels so bad compared to Helldivers.
When the game was first announced, I thought rocksteady was going to utilize the mechanics we saw in Arkham Knight where Batman is fighting alongside Catwoman, nightwing, and robin where you seamlessly pivot between characters…then I saw gameplay😢
For me its random, sometimes its after one mission and sometimes i get 3 missions deep and then loading Metropolis happens ... and i rented this to see for myself how the game was smh
Youd think theyd release their mistake with the story and killing off the batman folk grew up playing by using a dlc to reset the timeline or something..its bafflingly how theyve left it
That's obviously what's going to happen... its a love service game... the story so far is basically the prologue. That's how games as a service work. People seem to just thi k live service means battlepassess
At 05:57 when he is speaking about the positive commenting person I love the fact there’s an as underneath that comment about depression that just fits far too well for this game ha
It would be a rather poetic conclusion to see Rocksteady completely die out due to them shooting themselves where the heart of their company used to be, all in the name of money and tolerance. But let's not forget, they have all that Sweet Baby money they can fall on to last 10 seasons with 5 players or less and still make it past their bottom line. That's why games suck nowadays. Companies no longer have to rely on actual gamers to fund their games. They just have to let one of these woke, government-funded "projects" to collaborate on writing or rewriting the script/storyline for them and it'll be, for lack of a better word, insured up to and including failsafe profit. No I'm not some conspiracy nut, go on one of their websites and it'll break it down far more specifically.
I imagine most people at Rocksteady are too busy updating their resumes to work on this game, cause I can already tell the studio's going to be taking both the blame and the axe before this year's out. Meanwhile, the execs who are slobbering about going all in on live service and mobile games will be picking out new leather furniture sets for their offices.
I don’t blame the devs. I blame the executives and shareholders holders for making game changing key decisions, instead of the developers actually making the game they want, and the game they know the players want. This was just easy money in the eyes of the execs, and they just couldn’t say no to this game format. Also, I was so bummed out when they announced the LIVE SERVICE quidditch game. They had the perfect opportunity and utmost potential for an extremely high selling DLC for Legacy by adding a quidditch DLC. But they wanted to chase trends, they want to charge the purchase price, and then all that sweet, sweet microtransactions money. So disappointing.. 🤦♂️
What those companies dont get is this: life service games are a risk for the consumer. I basically buy the promise of something eventually being great. If i see it struggling i will not buy it on a sale, free trial or such. I either buy them at launch if i see them thriving and am interested, or never. Because thanks to fomo tactics i will have missed dozens of unique one time goodies through seasons and have to be afraid that Servers close down next week, making any time and money i invest an absolute waste. Those games do not have legs sales wise, because those companies cut em off themselves.
What makes me so pissed is that it's so obvious what kind of game any Suicide Squad game should be; a Roguelite. Constant character turnover as you die, adding new D-list type characters with stupid powers.
“Rocksteady are usually really good about polish and able games.” …do you not remember them literally un-releasing Arkham:BatTank on PC because it was unplayable buggy!?
Yeah I've been playing through this train wreck just out of pure curiosity. And I didn't have any issues until the update. Now there's even loot bugs where you get rewarded uncommon rarity at high levels, and legendary gear basically reverts and loses it unique perk.
Even if the game was better, it would still suck, because it screwed the story so badly that nothing could save it now. People hate this game for a good reason.
I'd feel bad for the people who bought this game, but the warning signs were there a mile away. After a certain point, it's the consumer's fault for burning their money.
I think the greatest example of a live-service game is GTA V. Had a great full AAA story mode coupled with an online mode that stood on its own. The could have done the same here and gave us an Arkham quality story with co-op with separate live service multiplayer would have been the route. The execs just don't know a thing about games and gamers to be able to allow the devs to create such a thing anymore.
To be fair though, apart from the fact that the game apparently sucks major balls and is the perfect example of everything wrong with „modern gaming”, shares always drop dramatically immediately after launch as that’s usually their peak value and that’s when many investors sell their shares. Naturally, they shouldn’t drop as hard as they have, this most likely means that not many investors believe the shares are bound to gain value, which they should with a live service format, but still, I feel like it’s important to mention here.
So, Suicide Squad released on Feb 2 and the tweet at 8:00 was posted on Feb 23. This means the AAA budget game set in the Arkham Universe got a whopping 2 patches in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2, made by a company with less than 100 people, released on Feb 8 and got it's 9th patch(going off patch notes on Steam) by that same day. As if I needed more reinforcement that AAA doesn't care about its products or customers. And 17:19, when people are looking for an excuse to not play the game for longer than they have to... It's not a good look.
Would've been great to play as the league.. each mission unique in accordance to each super. No live service crap, just good ol' creative minds coming together to innovate and make a great experience to remember for years to come. Missed opportunity to the MAX.
Unfortunately, I think what happens in this case (and other similar examples), is that WB will basically write it off and not be willing to invest more money to get this game to where it should be. Some games end up fixing all of the launch issues and becoming what they should have been (Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, etc.). But with corporate overlords like WB, I'm not optimistic that they'll let Rocksteady fix this game.
Usually I wouldn't mind if a great studio like Rocksteady releases one bad game every once in a while. However, the fact that this essentially took them 9 years truly baffles me.
i have seen a few fans say wait a year till after season 3 ends and that is when it will get good but i dont think it will last that long. plus wait for a year after launch for a game to get good is a very bad take for anything. sometimes fans just dont live in reality.
I wish we were in the alternate universe were we are all applauding Rocksteady for a fantastic Batman Beyond or Superman game, this is so fucking depressing. What could have been...
just in the last about 12 months forspoken redfall overwatch "2" starfield suicide squad skull and bones these games took YEARS or DECADES and hundreds of millions of dollars to make combined easily over a billion and are already dead in such a short time

And there's no waybthey completely suspended any future cost and plans to start financing milestone goals slated for over 6 months from now. Player numbers for Suicide Squad are lower than Helldivers right now. And I'm talking Helldivers ONE, which had it's already fairly low playerbase halfed due to the release of Helldivers 2.
Strange. I think Helldivers 1 is far more fun. Helldivers 2 is a mess.
The fact that CP2077 has over 30k players after all the issues at launch and Kill The Justice League has less than 1,000 says a lot.
CP2077 had a massive free update that fixed everything, this game fixed the shop menu

the right question would be: why did the ring stay in the earth, and why was it still with John? the ring only goes to the "worthy", and John became corrupted and would lose the ring.
After the death of a Lantern, the ring goes away after another bearer, and I don't think King Shark would become a Green Lantern. maybe red could even be
WHY IS THERE A GREEN RING ON THE EARTH?

You can't say recency bias when the two games launched hardly a week apart.

My ex played a significant role in the development of this game, and it's been extremely satisfying to watch it crash and burn. Is that petty of me? Yes. Is it a delicious hit of schadenfreude? Also yes.

I wanted to enjoy this game, sometimes I got a genuine chuckle but not a whole lot of the time the game has such potential but it feels kinda squandered
Suicide of RockSteady will not be buying a game from them again
I will be shocked if this game makes it a year. The way WB likes to cut their losses, I could see the servers getting turned off, and this game being given some kind of "endless" sandbox mode for psychopaths to play offline.
I'd like to see another AAA dev company try another stunt like this if the message was not clear already.
Guess it's time for some Helldivers

Well I guess some people like garbage
Hope something better comes along that you can play dude

Man WB.. it's pretty obvious, even as someone who is not a Harry Potter fan, why one did better than the other.
The Potter game: Respected the source material, sold a complete game, satisfying gameplay, met people's expectations in a satisfying way
KTJL: Spat on the source material, sold a series of microtransactions and season passes, uber repetitive gameplay, failed to live up to a single expectation
The reason the patches are going to take so long and the DLC is going to dry up, is because all the Devs are busy punching up their resumes for the inevitable layoffs. I doubt the Rocksteady that existed before WB bought them is even there anymore.
Can we all agree that we need to go play Helldivers 2? If not for anything other than liberty? I mean I’m doing this for FREEDOM!

Unfortunately this is the kind of disaster executives look at and shut down studios over
When your gaming studio is filled with representation & not talented people who know how to make good functioning games

They don't respect your time. They don't respect comic book enjoyers. They don't respect you.

I think they could redeem themselves if they made an arkham-style game out of batman beyond starring the original voice actor of Terry McGinnis. I would adore flying Terry around future Gotham.
Too bad they wasted Kevin Conroy's final performance. He could have passed the torch. Instead Rocksteady had the Squad piss on the Leage....
Also aiming in SS seams to have no recoil and not requiring any skill to aim properly, shooting feels so bad compared to Helldivers.
well theyre living up to the title. they are killing the justice league ip
When the game was first announced, I thought rocksteady was going to utilize the mechanics we saw in Arkham Knight where Batman is fighting alongside Catwoman, nightwing, and robin where you seamlessly pivot between characters…then I saw gameplay😢

That's obviously what's going to happen... its a love service game... the story so far is basically the prologue.

Sewer Side Squad: Kill --the Justice League-- --My Landlord-- Rocksteady & WB Studios
No I'm not some conspiracy nut, go on one of their websites and it'll break it down far more specifically.
you: "last time i touched this game..."
me: don't touch it, it will leave stain and stench on you
I imagine most people at Rocksteady are too busy updating their resumes to work on this game, cause I can already tell the studio's going to be taking both the blame and the axe before this year's out.
Also,
I was so bummed out when they announced the LIVE SERVICE quidditch game.
As a big DC/ Marvel fan im so glad i didnt buy this woke bullsh1tt. Instead i got hell divers 2 and im loving it.
“Rocksteady are usually really good about polish and able games.”
…do you not remember them literally un-releasing Arkham:BatTank on PC because it was unplayable buggy!?
as soon as i think im out… THEY PULL ME BACK IN
Yeah I've been playing through this train wreck just out of pure curiosity. And I didn't have any issues until the update. Now there's even loot bugs where you get rewarded uncommon rarity at high levels, and legendary gear basically reverts and loses it unique perk.
Can’t believe they passed on the Batman Beyond game for _this._
Even if the game was better, it would still suck, because it screwed the story so badly that nothing could save it now.
People hate this game for a good reason.
i remember watching the cutscenes online and watching the end one thinking "no fucking way they are making it to 12 brainiacs "
Funny part is, since this is a live service game, eventually it will be shutdown and with no offline mode, it will vanish forever.
Problem is all these people already paid for this garbage and rewarded the company
I knew this game was DOA when they delayed it for a year after working on it for what like 8 years. now everybody saying the same thing.

Then the dlc they're working on now, they'll charge for and not admit to that being what was planned to be free. And there's no waybthey completely suspended any future cost and plans to start financing milestone goals slated for over 6 months from now.
