I am having the same issue as you with the shades of toast, also with a sandwich in the pianini press I found the tray was hard to slide in to get the machine to register it as slotted in.
@@wrathcaster2555 you could always try contacting customer service and see if they can replace your unit. Since ninja sent us a replacement it has performed a lot better. We can’t say we’ve ever had an issue with the tray not slotting in though I’m afraid!

Cheaper yes, better? Debatable. You can get good sales, I just got mine for £68 last week
