I'm not a fuzz guy, normally, but I have to admit, the way you dialed it in on this video is really nice.
That's the thing about fuzz. You have to invest the time to figure out how to dial it in right, but when you do you will be a fuzz guy forever after.
Listen to the album Fuzz Universe by Paul Gilbert, all the dirt in his tone comes from fuzz and boosters
Listen to some Fu Manchu
yeah bro that dosent sound like usual fuzz
this
I love distortion, but that fuzz fit the riff you're playing
overdrive pedal: normal
distortion pedal: normal
fuzz pedal: aaaaaaahhhhhhh
he set the distortion too low.
@@kamil_jaroTrue sounded too clean and it didn’t chug
Kick up both the distortion & OD, kid. The fuzz was nice, but the other two shouldn’t sound lame.
distortion on max, plus fuzz on max😂
Normally distortion is more agressive. He just set it low.
that distortion is cleaner than my clean sound jesus christ
He legit forgot to turn it on i swear
True dat.
His "overdrive" tone is unironically my clean tone. I use that exact pedal to spice my cleans LMAO
😂😂😂
But I thought boss pedals suck?!? It’s almost like people that have never actually used them or know how to use them are fall of 💩
For me
Overdrive :-riffs
Distortion :- strumming
Fuzz:- solo'z ✌️👻
Fuzzz
Agreed
FUZZ FOR LIFE🤟🔥
all 3 = royal blood
shoegaze rhythm players: allow us to introduce ourselves
That overdrive is like a clean
Distortion like an overdrive
And fuzz is actually distortion
EXACTLY
FACTS
Overdrive just sounds too thin to me, I'm digging both the distortion and fuzz
That was but overdrive doesn't normally sound that thin. I much prefer it as it's a much more natural sound. Fuzz is alright for that kind of stuff.
I think the thin sound‘s a little bit the fault of the Single Coil
I feel like this just isn't a very good riff for overdrive🤷♂️
It's his amp mainly
That overdrive pedal sounds really thin on a clean amp because of how mid heavy it is. It needs a little distortion from the amp for it to really shine
FUZZ ALL THE WAYYY
Yup
For sure,
100% Fuzz, all day long...
so warm and cozy
I like all of them.
All 3 work in different contexts.
For this track, no doubt that fuzz is the best effect to solo over it
It depends not only from the solo to choose an effect, it depends from the track too
What song is this
nah he just didn’t drive his guitar enough. I thought he was playing clean for a soundcheck
what’s song riff is he playing?
Thank you for doing this. Because I never really understood the key differences to the pedals sound themselves. And you just helped me so much figuring out what kind of pedal I can use now for certain riffs and licks. Thank you so much!
Loving the Distortion, it's got the clean-ish tone on top and a hint of balls underneath that makes it sludgy and grungy without being muddy or sloppy like the fuzz
but the purpose of fuzz is to be muddy and it clearly has a power that Distortion doesn't reach, but in the end I think the best distortion is the tube amp
“A hint of balls” lol. I’ll be adding that to my vocabulary.
@@hunkymunky1704 Let's use it in a sentence. I met a girl on tinder, she was perfect but with a hint of balls.
@@tilkgrisnatch3537 it's just about preference and what tone your trying to achieve. You wouldn't want to use a fuzz pedal for certain genres and you wouldn't want a distortion pedal for others
@@tilkgrisnatch3537 you can also get there by stacking over drives
Finding that perfect fuzz tone on both the guitar and bass and then putting them together just makes it so fucking HEAVY
Sabbath!
I like the fuzz
based on the backing track, the fuzz tone fits nicely..
They all have there place of course. I think fuzz is more experimental and doesn’t fit as many genres but I would rather have only a fuzz pedal then overdrive or distortion, I just love the way it sounds!
You can dial in some nice general use tones on a fuzz. I use one as an overdrive/distortion and it hits all the high gain spots I want to hit without cranking the amp too loud for the audience.
Whoa, id never thought id be picking the fuzz sound over the distortion petal. That sounded pretty nice.
depends on the music style, you dont use a djent tone for blues and you dont use a fuzz for death metal
Edit: im not trying to say what or what not to use. This just made sence in my head but if.you think diffrently go for it
And you don't normally use tin cans for a snare but that didn't stop Lars. Let's make shitty tones great again.
No rules for music
My man have you ever heard obituary, or any old school death metal bands for that matter? They used more fuzzy distorted sounds often. Also nobody that isnt a musician even likes djent tone outside of meshuggah fans but they own it better. The excessive midrange of djent sounds like shit on any decent PA system and there's no bass presence in their mixes so it's pretty lame overall.
@@TheAngeyMovieCritic straight up not true but sure
@@willthefree4172 it’s just gonna be really hard and difficult to get the sound, but nobody is stopping you. It just might not be death metal or might be something different.
The distortion sounded amazing here!
fuzz sounds soo good with the rest of the track
That’s the best example for the practical applications for all 3 pedals, you did it just right.
put them all together and be happy
That’s what I do
It gets better with every part!!!
Overdrive all the way for me :)
Fuzz seems like a specific use thing, it could sound good under the right pretenses. Overdrive and distortion are pretty good for anything grittier.
A decent od or distortion and a solid tube amp will always be the most diverse but fuzz always has the unique punch/flare factor
All of them sound awesome!
I run overdrive into distortion. Is that wrong?
Some pedals like the ds1 needs an overdriven amp. My little beginner needs the overdrive on when I use the pedal to get it sound metal
It’s only wrong if it doesn’t sound good. If it sounds good, it sounds good, it’s as simple as that.
Nothing wrong with that! In my rig I found a heavy overdrive into light overdrive works best.
not at all, some ODs sell units for that specific application. SD1s, TS9, and Precision Drives can be used as an OD only, but a lot of people use them to boost into an already distorted amp/pedal in the metal genres
i mean it’s what i do
Uma demonstração prática e rápida, da diferença dos pedais, que muita gente tenta explicar em videos enormes e nao conseguem.
thats a sick riff right there
Overdrive: drives amp to natural break-up
Distortion: softens transient and adds buzz
Fuzz: saws off transient and scoops mids
What's this song? It's been stuck in my head for like 6 hours.
????
?plz
have u find it yet
He mightve just made up the chord progression and the riffs himself
The fuzz seems to add more harmonic overtones, which sound stupid cool.
Hail BOSS METAL ZONE 😗😍
Boss hm2 is the best tho
this was cool - subscribed (i'm a 80s distortion guy, but that fuzz did sound awesome with that line)
For this specific riff, fuzz is light-years ahead of the od or distortion
Bravo! Plus you make all the proper guitar faces.
Fuzz on bass,,distortion on guitar!!
totally!
Fuzz on bass just destroys everything
@@SinRuin in a good way
@@SinRuin only if you dont mute
Thanks, i just learned the differences. So fuzz is the tone I am actually looking for.
dude i love that fuzz pedal, did you make it yourself?
I didn't know fuzz can sound this beautiful 😮
Fuzz is the best fit for the riff you are doing hands down... gated fuzz would sound even better tho😎
That half note !!!!....nice !
Overdrive for me, followed by Distortion. Though I never have my overdrive's drive knob lower than halfway. I like the sound of a good cranked overdrive when it's almost reaching Distortion level tones.
Fuzz is a no no for me. Too harsh, rarely sounds good to my ears.
Completely agree. Overdrive is the perfect 'kick' to most tones
I like the fuzz. When I was younger I didn’t like it at all. Then I thought I’d buy one and try it. Now if you turn it up and have your guitar volume all the way up it’s a no no. To messy and very muddish. I turn the gain to about 3 o’clock and then use my guitar volume to manipulate the tone and it sounds really good. Kinda they way Hendrix did I believe and all the old boys
Oooooo that’s tough. Honestly. I love how fuller the sounds are and how they hold their tone so I’d say fuzz did the best of that along with adding some stank. Close second to dis
I prefer the distortion, but play the overdrive due to others in the room. 😂
the way you play this makes distortion very appealing to me. now i know what to buy lol
me at < 20 : DISTORTION ALL THE WAY
me at 25 : well overdrive seems enough
me now at 30's : .......wowwwwww that fuzz slay!!
Bro this was so helpful for my tone catalog
definitivamente el fuzz es un god en los solos sin duda me lo compro
Fuzz is always fun with solos!!!! You made it sound really nice here
Depois dizem que o Fuzz não serve, mas depende de cada situação
hey man i love your vids keep it up
And of course if you layer them then you can recreate Blur’s Song 2
WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!
It's not my problem
For this piece... The fuzz all the way! Awesome!
Distortion sounds too “cold” to me (probably coz this is a Boss pedal), fuzz is obviously above all those 3
On this solo your overdrive tone hits the spot...in other contexts I quite like fuzz too...I don't use distortion-classed pedals.
Buy a RAT and you could make the same video with the one pedal.
Totally! I have a few versions of that pedal!
Or a fuzz face
@@WestlehSeyweld I'll have to try that . . . I always assumed the fuzz face was just straight up fuzz.
@@BlueBarrier782 they clean up perfectly without a treble bleed. It’s all about balancing the fuzz with the amps distortion.
I want this Fuzz. Very cool.
I really do not like that distortion pedal, it just sounds almost like you're playing a Sawtooth, which sawtooths can be great, it's just not the sound I want to hear coming out of my guitar.
I was sold on the distortion pedal until the fuzz kicked in… so big! Killer
Fuzz
The fuzz was perfect for your playing. All great pedals.
You kind of have the settings to where it doesn’t really make a difference
Are you deaf or something?
For this riff the fuzz sounds great!
Me quedo con los tres, son una maravilla cada uno, pero juntos son lo maximo🤘🏻😇🤘🏻
Ooooh that Fuzz! I'm a huge distortion fan but the fuzz sounds so cool.
It's good to see women playing guitar. Thumbs up.
Thanks!
All of them on a board. You can even stack them for some crazy tones. Ds1 with a fuzz face through a lightly overdriven marshall is godly. Neck pickup, single coil.
The overdrive and distortion together it’s gonna change your life
They all sound good ! The overdrive sounds like Eric Clapton !!! Nice job !😁👍
Nothing beats the own gain of a powerful AMP. For me Randall preferably. A little bit of OD would be the cherry on the cake to give some extra boost while playing lead.
Overdrive: needed on every pedal board
Distortion: depends on the amp
Fuzz: isn’t always the answer, but when it is; it’s the best answer.
In my opinion, i like distortion the most. It sounds really cool
Natural overdrive with tubes imo. Nothing beats the natural overdrive on a tube amp. Pedals just sound so...fake. boost helps a lot to beef up a good natural overdrive
I liked the clean one best.
It’s more about the mix than the sound on its own. The fuzz worked well with this mix…
3 good options!
I feel overdrive and distortion wasn't up enough to get a proper bite but fuzz (which i normally hate) was bang on the money with the right balance.
Love the Fuzz 😍
Depends on what you need them for
First of all… that guitar and strap are gorgeous.
Second… nice demonstration.
The DS-1 sounds great to me like even like it plugged direct in in the right context.
OD is my Official Drive and Distortion will be my Boost Drive Specially when engaging Solo.
No se pueden comparar ya que son para distintos géneros. Es como si comparamos una una mini van vs pick up vs 4x4
whatever the effect, all return to their respective skills, the effect is only a help to beautify
It just kept getting better
Combine distortion and fuzz. It’s perfect.
Crank the gain up bro
All of these are dialed perfectly. Fuzz is best in the example but these are very clearly your normal gain stages and im all about it
OD seems like it would work well as an "always on for color" situation, and IMHO I'd want the fuzz anywhere a guitarist would reach for a distortion, but shows what I know 🤷🏻
I love the riff you're playing. Overdrive I like but I loved fuzz
In this exact case the fuzz is best but just changing the settings could change what's the best here its all about context for the particular piece of music as a whole
I love the fuzz pedals
Just had this exact guitar come in the store I work at and its kinda great
Which one? Yes, thank you!
Oh wow absolutely LOVED the tail end if that riff
I'm a metalhead so I'm all about that distortion... but I think this actually sounds best with fuzz.
It looks like you liked distortion the best, and I agree, you had like 15% more umph to it
