Dante: Guys it's okay, just put me down, I'm fine with this outcome.
Dark Angels: Sorry cousin, Primarch said you have to live.
Dante: WHY DO THESE PRIMARCHS KEEP INSISTING I LIVE?!?
I'd say his resolve and ability to resist the Red Thirst is reason enough. Sure, the Primaris get to avoid the mutation altogether, but you can't manufacture that sort of determination in a lab. Ya gotta earn it. I bet he really does ask himself that question though lol

The fact that Sanguinius was able to beat Angron in single combat, WHILE wounded, still put me to awe to this day.
Sanguinius was fighting the Bloodthirster Ka'bandha he managed to beat the Bloodthirster then he fought his Demon brother Angron straight after.
@@angelobrewster6293 And let's not forget Sangy defeated Angron by pulling his hair. It's no wonder Angron got captured and enslaved by humans.

I've got the feeling that after 10,000 years, the Emperor has finally powered up so he can bring his best regicide pieces back
that would make sense (at least somewhat) since if I'm not wrong the "1000" souls a day is not true for a long time. I've heard that it is around 10k-15k of them a day.
well, the breaking of the Eye of Terror flooded everything with warp energy, empowerig psychers. And who is the greatest psycher of all time?
@@martincibik3997 I could be wrong but I remember it being an average of 1000 souls per day. With it fluctuating, and to keep in mind these are not just normal souls, the more powerful a psyker the more potent a soul they have. So it is a lot of power for Emps.
Then adding that the galactic rift has empowered all Psykers and as he is not only the most powerful psyker but also been fed with psykers and has been worshpped for so long he might be on the precipice of godhood or at least so powerful directly effecting the material plain should be trivial.

Imagine being a Dark Angel and fighting about to die and then your Primarch appears out a literal puff of smoke
This was a perfect display of both primarchs abilities. I was afraid that it would have been a one sided fight to show off the Lion's skill to hype his new model. But thankfully the writers had the courtesy to give them both an fight. Showing that while he couldn't just overwhelm Angron through sheer might in a straight forward 1vs1. He had the advantage with his tactical abilities, and past experiences fighting other promarchs
Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Red Angel. So many Angels, I love it.
There is the Red Angel Angron, the Red Angel Sanguinius, and the Red Angel the fallen son of Baal
@@inquisitorkryptman7893 i meam, his nickname was quite literally the Red Angel. It was a canon point of contention between Angron and Sang (more Angron, Sang didint really care)
I'm a firm believer that The Emperor didn't make the Primarchs equally.
The Lord of the First was feared by Horus for a reason. And now that he has returned we will see why.
I mean, its not hard to tell that not every primarch was made equally. One look at Angron against Alpharius or Curze and the Lion could tell you that.
And if the Lions "tactical plans" in the horus heresy books (such as leaving inwit to die after stripping its defenders to go burn more homeworlds; or demanding supreme command of a crusade with Dorn and Fulgrim despite being the most recently found) show us anything of him back then; there wasent a lot for Horus to fear
@@jasonburke1671 The Lion was famous for his tactical genius throughout the great Crusade. He even surpassed Horus with campaign victories. He was only surpassed after the Rangdan Xenocide which the Dark Angels saw the worst of.
His biggest faults in the Crusade and Heresy were his inability to trust and his secretive and taciturn nature.
@@BM-wf9uf its numbering his honors by the number of compliances is exactly why Dorn begins to have a distaste for the Lion during the Occluda Noctis campaign. If it were merely about collecting compliances and tallying your victories, surely the UM would be the first among equals or even the Fists whom had a wall kilometers long with their honors.
As for his faults in the heresy; none of what you mentioned changes the fact there isent really a tactical reason to strip away defenders (of whom belong to another legion mind you) from a stellar empire with large shipyards the traitors can turn on the imperium...to go planet bombing. There has been quite a difference between how GW wants the Lion to be seen in 30k, and how Black Library has portrayed him.
Oh yeah. The Emperor definitely made sure he kept some of the best ones in his calculation, think of a Horus Heresy where Angron stayed loyal but in turn someone like Sanguinius turned. On one side you got the brute who can work with no one and might kill you if you look at him wrong, on the other you have possibly the strongest Primarch with arguably too little flaws.
I imagine Lion being like old Geralt, monster slayer all his life. Old and wise and skilled as anything. After the end of the emperor/vesimir he does his absolute best to build bridges and fight back against the end times. Trying to protect his sons from all the monsters out there and doing the big E proud too. Only hes The Lion Not the White Wolf.
Plus hes a being of unsurpassed focus and knows exactly how to plan and defeat his given prey

Khorne through the carnage Angron was doing in the 2nd book of Arks of Omen, the moment he destroyed the beacon that was trying to banish him back in to the warp, Khorne enhanced Angron strike that destroyed the planet where the Inquisition had the beacon. the build up to introducing the Lion El Johnson was pretty epic. love your VO work.
I notice a pattern,
When a Loyalist primarch returns, he inherits a piece of his father's wargear:
Guilliman: emperor's sword.
Johnson: emperor's shield.
The emperor had other wargear, that power claw and a Mastercraft bolter as well as the apollinian spear, which was once the property of valdor, who has gone missing.
If corvus returns, no doubt he will get that claw.
If dorn returns, his Armour will have been reforged which incorporates the fragmented remains of the emperor's or maybe an emperor's powerfist That acts as his prosthetic hand.
But who will inherit the bolter?
Vulcan?
Or Loyalist fulgrim if that is even possible?
And what of a sanguinius and a ferrus manus IF THEY Can come back from the dead?

Angron is a big scary beast, so don’t get me wrong. However, I’m not sure how many times he has to get beaten before we realize he’s not the end all of primarchs in combat. Just wanna say I love how you narrated this using your voice and music in an amazing blend combined with a paraphrased reading with small extra added on where they fit that keep up the tempo and escalation up toward the climax.
Really well done! 😀
The Lion spent his entire youth slaying warp powered beasts with his bare hands. A daemon beast, no matter how powerful, would be nothing to a hunter like the Lion and his armor and weaponry. Angron was nothing more than a slightly more dangerous prey than he was accustomed to stalking.
With the Lion back, the dark angels are gonna be the ultimate legion again.
Just have this question, its been in the back of my mind for awhile now.
I mean when the Lion was created by the Emperor, is there any lore about him being awake and doing things for the Emperor, like its the Emperor but he was careful in planning everything so... what i really mean is after creating the Lion was he ever tested in the field by the Emperor before others were created, i mean before he was scattered with his brothers.
That might also explain why he immediately bent the knee and knew what he had to do and his place in Emperors plan.
Much as I hate the Smurfs they're the better chapter with their primarch back. But if you want shit done you're still better off with the BAs, SWs, or Sally's.
Stunning narration mate, the return of the Lion is beyond awesome. The story was incredible.
"Dante would not die today." much to his dismay, lol.
I bet Dante was thinking "Throne, is this what it takes?! I've been wanting to just fucking die for so long. Do it! Doooooo iiiiiiitttttt------ Why is there another primarch over there?"
This was basically Gandalf fighting the Balrog
Recently I pondered a potential game regarding the Fallen.
Imagine if a strategy game started out right when the Lion returned to Caliban, and you take command of a fleet part of Luther's orbital defense consisting of one Battlebarge, an Imperial cruiser armed with boarding torpedoes, and two escorts, and you take over a few thousand Dark Angels with the fleet, and are ordered to engage the Lion's fleet. But, before the fleet can strike at the Lion, the warp storm sweeps all the Fallen through time and space directly into the 41st Millennium. Here, the Fallen are greeted by the horrors of the new reality of the Imperium, slowly uncover the truth about Luther, and are greeted by the game's main antagonistic force in the form of a new Chaos warband that has a few Chaos Fallen among their ranks. The first objective is to have the fleet survive against the Chaos Space Marines and Orks, before the Fallen fleet receives a signal from the Lion himself for all the still loyal Fallen to rejoin him at the ruins of Caliban. Now the new objective is to battle through the Warband to get as many Marines safely to Caliban as possible.
Mechanics would be that you have a very limited amount of resource. You have the fleet you start with, and cannot build new ships. You also have the few space marines at the start, and can recruit more but very slowly. Orks can produce ships and soldiers at will, but Chaos can only recruit men. There are also a few planetary missions. The game is mostly about preserving forces for the most important battles, and choosing fights carefully.
Is this any good?
Imo the Lion's return was the best possible (Primarchs). Precisely because of his relationship with Guilliman (apart from the fact that he is a great character - especially because of his transformation). Aside from the community's sympathy for a given Primarch, the return of Sanguinius, Russ, Dorn, etc. would not be as exciting as the return of Lion because of his relationship with Guilliman.
PS. The possible return of Russ will be more interesting because of the already working Lion. The possible return of Sangunius (but much less likely if at all) will be more interesting due to the relationship with Lion and Guilliman.
I don't think Sanguinius should come back. Some Primarchs need to stay dead.
Guilliman and The Lion's relationship does make for interesting lore. I don't think there will be much conflict between them however.
The Lion has certainly grown as a character.
I think Jaghatai Khan could easily be one of the most interesting, and while he might not be as great as Russ, Russ is such a popular fan-favorite that it feels almost unnecessary to bring him back. I like this theme of bringing attention to under-appreciated Legions and Chapters.
Now if only Ferrus could come back, Iron Hands need some serious love.
@@BM-wf9uf True. He'd better stay dead. (rather than somehow being resurrected, etc.)

Return of the Legions!
For one brief moment of absolute clarity, Angeron stopped in his rampage as he distinctly heard off in the distance the somber, morose notes to the tune "The Rains of Castemere " and knew without question exactly who was coming, despite the sheer impossibility of it. Ten thousand years had not diminished that one's cold, condescending demeanor. Even the roaring commands of Khorne went silent. This was no longer a matter of the Great Game. "This man is a brother of my Gene father, he is someone I wish to serve and fight side by side with" I don't get why some marines/chapters don't care about primarchs of other legions.
I’m still really upset that apparently zero words were shared between them it feels to rushed like Guillimans return. Didn’t have to be much but I would’ve loved to see Angron actually hesitate with a slightly surprised “impossible” from him. And from the Lion just something merciless, like “sanguinius felt sorrow for you, regret, a bond of a brotherhood never truly forged. I feel none of these things. You are a monster to be slain, so you shall be.”
Yeah I get what you mean, I think when it comes to gathering storm and arks of omen, because they're not novels, they just don't get that kind of detail as well
I think it makes sense. Angron is more of a rabid dog and it's stated in almost all his scenes that after he starts swinging his axe the butcher's nails go berserk to the point he literally can't think and by the time he fought the lion he had been slaughtering for hours. "All I hear is the pounding and pounding and pounding of the the nails". He only vaguely remembered the lion but his bloodlust stamped all his thoughts.

I am a long term Dark Angels fan and collector and the fact that I get to make this video is genuinely a dream come true!
Well done my man. Beautifully narrated

I wonder if the Ork would get to Angron first, or maybe if they would team up with the Lion to get him. The Orks are big mad at Angron for taking their friend Yarrick off the playground.
