Little bit of baby poop brown going on in this one. I like when they're so gold they turn greenish (yes, I know that's oxidization of the copper flakes in the finish). But still... that thing is a beautiful baby poop!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate Mark demonstrating these classics by busting out some real music and not just lazily noodling/shredding.Well played Mark.
Mike M. Hey mike that’s gorgeous LP especially with that carved top. Once again Mr agnesi totally nails those tunes. The next time he does a bass I would love to see him bust out a bit of royal blood they remind me of muse and qotsa anyway what’s your opinion of charvel guitars? Cheers 🍺🍺👍👍
Geez, that guitar SPANKS!! Definately feeling the mojo on this one, it’ll be gone next week! If you guys could, next video or so, could you say hi to our boss Chris Christian? He’s fighting Parkinson’s Disease and he never misses an episode. Thanks guys!-Cody and James, VVV
Loved that comment about getting the top right on the reissues and that’s why they’re going bankrupt. The harsh but true honesty right there. Those tops back then are amazing
Mark is such a good Rock and Blues guitar player..I loved his version of Hideaway..I come here everyday to be inspired as a guitarist and to check out Mark Playing these amazing Rare Guitars and Basses..and of course to enjoy Jens Video work and occasion comments
Les Paul Customs were the first guitars to use the stop tailpiece and Tune-o-matic bridge together, I believe. I had a '54 Black Beauty with that tailpiece/bridge combo. That may have been the first real production year, as I think I've read that the Custom was being designed and prototyped in '53. This '53 Gold Top is just smashing. As wonderful and rare as the '58-60 Bursts are, the Gold Tops have a mojo all their own. P-90's are possibly the best all around pickups ever designed, at least in my opinion. And the Gold Tops with humbuckers were also great. I lust love the P-90's on that beautifully carved top.
I came across a 1957 Goldtop with PAF's and like new brown case from under a bed in Chicago back in 1977. Dark solid Mahogany body original strings and beginner book. Larry from "Axe in Hand" in DeKalb, Illinois came up and bought it from me at Palos Music Palos Heights, Illinois. The solid Mahogany body does not effect the sound enough to make them worth that much less than a maple cap burst.
Dis gold on dis guit looks like carmel! Or nacho cheese?.... 1. "Billy Squier "Lonely Is the Night" 2. Freddie King "Hideaway" 3 GNR " Mr Brownstone"(YES!) Why not?:-)
Billy Squier was so good - damned shame his "twink getting ready for his prom date" music video for 'Rock Me Tonight' killed his career as a rock star.
Well they brought in on themselves. Gibson fans/players have telling them what they want for years and they either half ass it and to add insult charge a ridiculous amount for it, or waste their time and customers patience with stuff no one wants/asked for! See Firebird X and the godawful 2015 regular production guitars (robot tuners! Ugh!)
Eh, every guitar player wants Gibson to make the same product from 1959, then nobody buys it because essentially if the product is unchanged why would you buy a new one? They were never in an enviable position, but yeah, they're poor buying of unnecessary companies outside of guitars kinda spoiled them.
They deserve it for investing millions of dollars into new shit technology that would supposedly "improve tuning capabilities" they also decided to ignore everything their fans desired..that's exactly what you're NOT supposed to do from a business standpoint.
All I know about Guitar's is what I've learned on this channel. This is one very sexy looking and sounding instrument. Mark your variety and intensity of the music you okay is amazing. Worth the admission anytime. Thanks
That's my favorite Gibson right there! Followed closely by the '56 Goldtop with stopbar. Holy grail! (Still a Fender guy but, c'mon!) And yes, Henry has been asking for it. Brand company... pfffffft! You're a GUITAR MAKING COMPANY!
Love me a Goldtop! Just got a Recording model. Cool sounding beast, way more interesting than any YT demo video of it I’ve seen. Hint: explore the Decade knob settings. They let you shape the pickups’ resonant peak frequencies.
They don't use the thick maple caps like back in the 50s. Can't do that deep of a carve on 1/4 inch of maple. Beautiful gold top. It made me peepee tingle!
Unbelievable sound. Not sad at all at missing a Strat. Guess the plexiglass guitar put paid to the wood discussion however is one bit of the sound the combination of maple and mahogany?
No wonder it has road wear. If I walked into Norm’s with that jacket, would anyone let me touch a guitar? Beautiful instrument. My grandpa bought one new with the matching amp in ‘53 (and sold it for cheap to a buddy a few years later 😢). He is why my main baby is an LP (‘97). Maybe someday I’ll come play a gold top, but I’ll wear a cotton t-shirt. Cheers
Those original p 90s to me are the best pups ever. David Gilmores tone on The Wall album to me is the p90 tone. Guy came into Atlanta Guitar Center with a 52 gold top and I fell in love with the p90s then but the reissues don't come close.
All my EQs went to noon when I saw that one. That color just pops with that carved top!

I went all the way to eleven.

1) Lonely is the Nite/Billy Squier 🤘🏻
2) Hideaway/Freddie King 👑
3) Mr Brownstone/GnR 🤘🏻
freakin Holy Grail 🔥🔥🔥
have a bitchin weekend @markagnesi @manalophoto 🎥🎸
Mike M. It's so weird to see that you changed your profile picture. I think we all are used to your classic profile pic. Almost didn't recognize you
Winther Molina ha, maybe I should change it back
Mike M. Any guess on the price of that bad boy?
Dave S. hard to speculate, it’s a collectors market, like fine art (Picasso, Warhol’s) the buyer drives the mkt. my guess, $55-75k
Mike M. Hey mike that’s gorgeous LP especially with that carved top. Once again Mr agnesi totally nails those tunes. The next time he does a bass I would love to see him bust out a bit of royal blood they remind me of muse and qotsa anyway what’s your opinion of charvel guitars? Cheers 🍺🍺👍👍
"No wonder they're going bankrupt!" LOL!!! "Carve the damn top!!!!!!"
Lmao. Now he's working for em. Wonder if they've seen this episode
@@Riffme81 i was thinking that too
Love this guy, love guitar of the day, I could watch him showcase guitars of the day all day everyday. Nothing like a vintage, thanks for it all Mark!
Could be best Mark video yet. Informative, funny, Gibson 'criticism' and rockin playin.
Just beautiful, I'm in tears, tears of joy 😭😭😭
Love the Gold Top. Wish I could afford it. Great sound from when Gibson did it RIGHT!

P-90’s sound killer! Beautiful guitar!
Loved that comment about getting the top right on the reissues and that’s why they’re going bankrupt. The harsh but true honesty right there. Those tops back then are amazing
Nice end of week, Scarf Agnesi
You're right mark. It does sound stupid good! Everyday watcher here. Love the show!
Mark, I think that was the best playing I’ve heard from you! Absolutely brilliant!
When Mark opened the case I thought I heard angels singing.
Hytham Hammer .....that has to be one of the most perfect answers I have ever read......
You did ☺
then when he dragged his jacket zipper all over it they cried (".)
Mark is such a good Rock and Blues guitar player..I loved his version of Hideaway..I come here everyday to be inspired as a guitarist and to check out Mark Playing these amazing Rare Guitars and Basses..and of course to enjoy Jens Video work and occasion comments
So many of these to catch up on... but it's a great morning view with the coffee....
Another beautiful guitar. Incredibly craftsmanship
Love how Mark is always peering around the corner.

That carved top really is a thing of beauty.

God that guitar is amazing. Gibson P-90s are such great pickups. Much dynamic. So soapbar. Very Les Paul.
Man I love that thing. Keep up the videos watch them while I do night shift.
Mark Agnesi with a scarf is my spirit animal
Now that's a top curve! Love the sound of the P90's. Great playing Mark! Byeeeeeeee Jen!!!
Mark has one of the greatest jobs on Earth!!
Oh, hell yeah. Great playing, Mark!
Holy grail!
Always enjoy your performance and guitar demos.
Always what?
Guitar of the day will never be the same
#ALLCAPSFORCARLOS
Its time for the Carlos to come back!
Love the guitars but now I mainly come for Mark's playing. Killer work today, Hideaway...hats to Freddie! Great job as always!
Very cool bass Norm is a master at finding the rare and Old stuff
53 Gold Top. Beautiful. Keep em coming Mark!🤘🏻⚡️
Note how far the Gibson logo is from the top of the headstock on those early Les Pauls
Love these guitars.
Great nails Jen !!!! Great work Mark as always!! 🎸
This is what Norman's Rare Guitars is all about.
Amazing tunes to this one, love the sound of the p90s
What a sound!!! Mark you rock!!🤘
I am a Fender guy but if I could have a Les Paul like this with P90s or a Junior, I am in. Nice.

I watch everyday!
Got to get me some p90s. Always loved the gold top
Les Paul. One still on my bucket list.
I want this guitar, it’s amazing
Amazing tone! Whew!!!
Freakin AWESOME Guitar! Wish I could afford one.........................
Beautiful curvaceous carved Goldtop Mr. Agnesi.
Great job on Hideaway! Love that guitar!
I so want this guitar!!!!!!!!

Such a bad ass guitar Mark had to wear his Negan outfit.
Sweet looking guitar. Suits you and some damn fine playing
That top carve!! Great playing
I love the gold tops ! Freakin Beautiful !!!!!
This is my dream guitar
Dis gold on dis guit looks like carmel! Or nacho cheese?.... 1. "Billy Squier "Lonely Is the Night" 2. Freddie King "Hideaway" 3 GNR " Mr Brownstone"(YES!) Why not?:-)
It's a GREAT SOUNDING BEAUTY!!!
That's one badass guitar for sure!
Great playing!
I can dig it.
The Another Brick In The Wall (pt2) solo was played on a P90 Les Paul
Well played, well played.
nice hideaway! thanks mark jen and norm
I wonder how much Mahogany does the zipper of Mark´s jacket has
Lol. I agree ...I was thinking the same thing. .
Great playing Mark...leads were smokin today.
I would love to work there💝all those guitars💝
Does this really sound any different than a Junior of a similar vintage? I ask seriously 'cause I'm the drummer with the ""dead ear""
Anthony Kueber not by much, just more options
Fuller and woodier than juniors and specials to my ears. And a tad bit brighter too.
Billy Squier was so good - damned shame his "twink getting ready for his prom date" music video for 'Rock Me Tonight' killed his career as a rock star.
Very nice
That bad boy sounds amazing!
maybe you should start a new series "amp of the month"
I like how no one feels bad for Gibson. Lol
Ugh!)
I do, just means getting my hands on a J-45 will be more expensive than ever :(
Michael Moniz I was never able to justify the price and the low cost stuff looks terrible compared to other guitars at that price.
Eh, every guitar player wants Gibson to make the same product from 1959, then nobody buys it because essentially if the product is unchanged why would you buy a new one? Wow, that guitar has mojo and vibe to spare!
Too cool for color TV!
Love the Gibson dig.

Freddie F-ing King !!!!!!!!!! Love me some P90's
"If they still did it like that I'd be out of a job." Nice.
Amazing!!!!
