these are the coolest les pauls ever made. ide take this over a burst any day! ide be happy with a reissue but they start around 7k. this is my dream guitar right here twu
The music in the open, sounds incredible ... crisp (no doubt a Stratocaster or other Fender, bright without being ice picking) ... great reverb, great playing, great recording.
@@Tonetwisters ups okay 👍. To bad I don't remember what my comment was about years ago 3 🤷. Should consider to become a politition. That their answer on questions about them beeing involved in corruption 😂
Nice, I would like to own that. I "Had" a 56 model through a twin reverb playing loud punky/funk in mid 80's . I shall remember her always as I have a few "tapes" of that sound...
Thanks for the video on the Les Paul Custom. It really captured my attention as I own a 1954 model that I’ve for many decades. I too was surprised to learn that the 54 wasn’t the first year of the Black Beauty. I can attest to the weight of these … my guitar is the heaviest example I have ever picked up. Thanks again… I love learning the history of guitars
Awesome indeed. When ... when is Gibson or Epiphone going to make a proper reissue of this? With a proper DEEP DISH CARVE! I can't speak for the rest of you, but my whole loins are craving for this to happen. Demo shop guys please! Sneakily set the CNC to deep dish carve for the love of humanity and send us the grail with staple goodness.. triple staple black beauty w bigsby! Big love from Australian Byron Bay band - The Minky's ❤
Meh, I’m not bothered. I have one 3 pup guitar, a St Vincent and the middle pup interfere with fast picking. I just bought a 2010 re-issue and it keeps my loins happy. Love from Kingscliff.
Emerald City Guitars, could you please shoot a B-Roll video of the amplifier's controls as set when the player is doing the Demo. It would be nice to see how the amplifier is setup to better judge what we are hearing. Especially so if you are also selling the amplifier that is part of the demo. Thank You Great content and fantastic instruments.
had my grubby paws on a '55 custom when I was 19... didn't know then what I know now, couldn't have afforded it anyways, but its been on the list ever since I rediscovered how freckin cool the p90/alinco V pickups are... anyway, Emerald City isn't so far from home... but I really can't afford to even walk by that place, divorces are expensive... not saying your expensive, just I have low impulse control and you folks have some very good looking candy
theshyguitarist I agree. If I want a single coil I'll play a fender. I had a 2008 model of this and it just didn't do it for me...staple was too mellow. No maple cap was too dark...my paf's will do what this does and more...I will say thos these staple customs are sexy lol
The ultimate all rounder. You can turn up to an audition for anything from jazz to a wedding band to a pink noise project and an LP Custom will always be wizard on time correct.
I know ! I've got the 1955 TV yellow les Paul special 2020 epiphone and ours amazing ! It's just too bad that epiphone doesn't plek em because the frets are crap compared to my 2019 Gibson les Paul special double cut t model frets are amazing.
Thanks for showing us how to spell Mardon’s name in the description, the other day I thought this was Nick Martin, rhythm guitarist for Sleeping With Sirens.
I wonder that myself. I can't ever remember seeing a LP Custom w/wrap tailpiece. I'd love to hear how one would sound though, full mahogany body and top added to the extra resonance I believe a wrap tailpiece offers.
Ray H. Yes it should be; I don’t know if their saying it’s been changed or what but there’s something off with this having the 2 piece bridge and then saying it’s a 53;
All Things 11 AFAIK it’s uncertain whether or not there were any LP Customs shipped in 1953, though there may’ve been a small number made. The earliest ones, as stated in this video, don’t have a serial number, adding to the uncertainty. Duchossoir’s Gibson book states the Customs were introduced in ‘54…but the book is over 20 years old now and may lack info uncovered since publication.
@@davidkieltyka9 & All Things 11 Yeah, early model builds can sometimes be difficult to surmise as far as what was actually happening with the Factory and Gibson in general. Still a very cool guitar, and like the early Les Paul Standards, no serial numbers. I'm just trying to put myself in the mind-set of Gibson's management back in 1953. Like I said, how could it be justified as a good idea to ship early Goldtops and Black Beauties with no serial numbers!
HK Guitar My guess is the lack of serial number tracks with the ill-suited trapeze bridge/tailpiece that required wrapping the strings under rather than over the bridge: Gibson didn’t expect the LP to sell and so didn’t care about such details.
beauty! i have a reissue that Historic Makeovers did their magic to and it's awesome--looks like this one...the alnico pup is amazing. paf's are great but the p90/alnico combo kicks ass. imo (mine has usable frets ;) Then I waited for the demo...If ever a guitar was begging for Tim Lerch to demo her, it is this one.
11 Lbs... Seems like 50s customs tend to weigh consistently more than standards which is surprising since the fully mahogany body should in theory be lighter than a maple capped body. Am I missing something?
Why is your holy grail the 59 ? Is it because it's soooooo fucking over exposed over rated or what ? Let me know when you discover the p90's and les Paul special and jr.s !
Killer, killer demo!
Really dig the fact that you've been doing these with cleaner sounds and more melodic playing. Top notch!
This guitar's old enough to collect Social Security. I hope I look that good when I'm sixty-six ...
best playing i've heard on this channel so far

Very cool. I didn't even know there were Customs made before 1954.
With no serial numbers!
Pretty sweet Les Paul.
Same here.
Bucket list guitar, the look and that staple are too beautiful
my favourite les paul ever
Truly is the Black Beauty ! Sounds amazing 🤩 Bucket list
Wow what a fabulous player and guitar!
Great demo of a great guitar and amp/cab.
The music in the open, sounds incredible ... crisp (no doubt a Stratocaster or other Fender, bright without being ice picking) ... great reverb, great playing, great recording.
The tone was perfect for Les Paul's sound. He was always a jazz man.
So to say perfectly Beauty. Did we mention that pB player? We'll better do! Think that's what makes it really beautyfull and perfect over all. Amazing
@@markusfinkler9625 I was referring to the open of the show, not this gorgeous Les Paul,

One of my favorite Gibsons. Nice sounds, nice playing! Love the speed knobs!
Love the guitar. Great example. Tone choice and playing was nice too. I rewound those 'climbs' at the 8:40 mark about 5 times !
Very nice playing on a wonderfull guitar❤

Im IN LOVE!!! She's A BEAUTY...
🎸💚
That's the first '53 I've seen, great clean playing that demonstrates the good tones of the LP, thanks!!
I wish Gibson stayed with the staple pickup. Maybe offered a les paul with 2 staple pickups. They're the shizzle.
Yeah, a Staple in the Bridge would sound very "Fender-ish", in a good way.
Matthew Casey Nope. PAFS for the win.

My 51 nocaster has all slot headed screws, I wonder when they started using Phillips head screws on guitars?

At 9:31' what is up with the neck pick up? Appears warped, not to mention positioning.

Okay. Im confuss. I thought the Les Paul Custom with p 90 pickups and alnico 5 i the neck. Relise in 1955. And not in 1953.
