Norm, you mentioned this being your life's work. That's awesome.
Just think how much joy the owner of one of these masterpieces will have knowing it was purchased from you.
Cheers.🖖
Hoarding guitars is not life's work, it's what's wrong with society. Something like this is not to be praised!
@@noswad75calm down. People can do what they want. Jog on Ken.
@noswad75 , it's a business, like any other business. These are the products he sells, so of course, he has to have inventory that he stores somewhere before he can sell it.
I'm on a life mission to get a collection of telecasters. 54,64,74,ect big task but I'm on my way.
Watching Norm, you can tell that when the case opens he goes back in time and can remember the day he acquired each guitar. Legend.
Jen: “What’s this, Norm?”
Norm: “It’s a 2019 Harley Benton ‘S-type’ with machine-wound ceramic pickups, unbranded tuners and the matching Thomann gig bag.”
Jen: “B-stock?”
Norm: “You betcha. Even got most of the cellophane on the rear tremolo cover.”
😆
This is certainly a bitter sweet moment for Norm; amassing this incredible collection through a lifetime and now deciding which ones to let go.
It didn't seem like he was letting many go lol
I'm sure he's done this many times before, not so much letting go as much as making room for new pieces. It's why we get to see amazing vintage guitars in his shop and GotD. Besides, it seems Norm has a loooong way to go weeding things out before he laments his losses. Cheers....
Norm ... "this is my life's work here". Reap the rewards Norm, you've earned it.
Norms, a smart man he knows not to flood the market driving down prices, holding onto the good stuff for a future sell.
The warehouse reminds me of the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Unreal the amount and quality of vintage guitars he has collected. Amazing!
He may very well have the Ark of the Covenant in there.
I had the exact same thought. Waiting for someone's face to melt.
Norm has top men working on it right now.
That 56 gold top is what dreams are made of!❤❤
no doubt, freakin sweet!!
Maybe an unpopular opinion buts it wild to me to see so many of the best and most desirable instruments ever made just sitting in crates for years not being used or making music.
My thoughts as well. I know we get attached to stuff, I collect watches but can't wear them all.
@@fredscratchet1355 I don’t know anything about the watch collecting market/world. But this to me seems like it’s doing nothing but keeping prices high and keeping them out of the hands of people who would play and enjoy them.
Yeah, he should just give all those cherished, vintage, $30K guitars he’s been paying $3000 a month to store for 30 years to some bums or school kids to trash.
@@TheBoomtown4 obviously not the point. They’d be better off circulating among players - even if it’s only big name players who can afford pieces like that, rather than sit in a warehouse where there are barely played or even looked at.
@@Nick-qq2nq I’m thrilled to inform you that he sells these instruments. It’s his business model, he owns a “store” called “norms rare guitars.”
Unbelievable how clean they all are!!
They stay locked inside a hardcase, that is why. I guess that even the strings don't get old, only if you open it and play it regularly.
This is both exciting and depressing.....The guitars are fabolous.but, Norm seems sad to realize it's time to let some go. Thank you Norm for being THE CURATOR of all those beauties and letting us see inside the warehouse !!! Thank you all especially Jen !!!
incredible.....Doesn't begin to describe this!!!!!!!!!!!
This is like a fantasy.. How can anyone amass a warehouse full of vintage guitars? I have watched these warehouse videos over the years and the supply never ends, many of these guitars look minty and fresh! Oh, that's a 52 Black Guard Tele.... I just cannot wrap my little brain around the excellence and prestige of this collection. Thank you, Norm!
Congrats Norm for being a man way ahead of his time. Yes it's a life's work, but you can not take them with you. All The Best, Always!
Take care of yourself, Norm. We love you.
Lookin Good Norm, a lot better since when ya got sprung from the sickbay.
Stay strong flex that guitar hero muscle and hang around with us for a while.
💪🏻
What an unbelievable collection of guitars. Just incredible. Words are inadequate.
Agreed 👍
No one does vintage guitars better than Norm. It's amazing how he has accumulated so many museum quality guitars. I highly doubt anybody else has the quality and quantity of vintage guitars as he does. It's sad to see and know that he's fully aware of his age, I hope he lives as long as humanly possible. Normans' rare guitars will not be the same without the mastermind behind it.
God bless you, Norm. Please stay around for many years to come.
It's great that these instruments will go to new homes, but hearing Norm talk about his age and health just breaks my heart.
More episodes from warehouse, please. It's like a Christmas gift) I wish I'll be able to visit Norm's warehouse al least once in a life
Gotta give credit where credit is due - Norm has probably the greatest collection of rare and vintage guitars on the planet. It's why so many flock to him to get exactly what they want, be it a '65 P-Bass or a '31 Martin D-28: Norm probably has four or five. Cheers....
Simply unbelievable. Dream guitars.
It's like waking up in a candy store as a kid! What absolute treasures you have there, Norm. I know how difficult it must be for you to decide which ones to sell and which ones to keep. An agonising decision, because each one holds special memories for you. I'm also sure that Joe will be studying this video rather carefully, so expect a call! 😆😅
Hard to know what to think. All these instruments out of one shipping crate . . . All the unheard music . . . All Norm's love for the physical beauty and history of this stunning collection. Hopefully, they will end up in the hands of musicians who can fully make use of these treasures and not in the hands of collectors/speculators.
This is kind of sad, such an epic collection. But all the "what's that Norm" made me smile Jen.
I feel like we are seeing the inside of Norm’s gold mine.
Holy cap I can't believe how many amazing guitars I just saw. Wow wow wow. Norm must here 'Norm what's this?' in his sleep. What a treat to walk through a piece of his collection with him! My favorite was that Martin OO or OOO 42/45 that they opened at ~5:15 but didn't take out of the case. I think Norm said it was a OO but it looked bigger - who am I to argue with Norm though?!! Guess I'll have to go check it out in person. :)
First reaction was "where is the Ark of the Covenant"? Second reaction was just pure awe at how many guitars there must be in the "secret warehouse". Didn't see any '57 Strats.....I know they are somewhere!
One thing to keep in mind is that Norm purchased the vast majority of the guitars that are in his warehouse when the average professional American musician had little to no regard for them. It's not like he was a collector paying top dollar prices for all of those guitars just so he could collect them to stare at. First and foremost, Norman Harris is a *BUSINESSMAN!*
He bought low when nobody wanted the guitars in his warehouse, and now that he's getting old with failing health, he's able to sell them off for a considerable profit. That's nothing more than having the foresight to think ahead when others weren't. Norm's got nothing to apologize for. How many of those guitars was Norm responsible for saving from loss or destruction. A significant number, I'd venture to say.
*GOOD FOR YOU NORM!*
Norm's age comment I understand (I'm 70 yrs. old) but what cought my ear and heart was his mention of his "health" also being a consideration. Praying for you Norm.❤❤❤❤
This is the Aladdin's Cave of guitars, so many amazing, jaw-dropping instruments, wow.
It must be so hard to let some of this stuff go. Bless Norm, he sounds like he really doesn't want to take this stuff to the store. x
🤣
I get the “buy low and hold” strategy and business model for monetary investments. but IMHO instruments should be in the hands of musicians instead of in a warehouse for decades. I just think of all the inspiration and music that these instruments could have created. But he had the foresight to buy all of these and the discipline to hold them until the value increased exponentially. the business model/plan worked and he and his family will enjoy the rewards for generations. Congratulations on your success!
Na man , all those guitars have been preserved till now. They can go back to work havin been kept safe all these years . And many people will be really glad because norm knew. Its a looong awaited gift .
@@frankpuryear3844 it will be a while til they properly go back to playing musicians. This kind of hoarding helped inflate the prices so sadly only rich collectors for the most part will be able to afford mint vintage instruments like these.
Just think of all the session guys who can now buy their dream vintage p-bass. Cheers Norm and gang!
Thank you Jen for filming this. It’s incredible. And thank you Norm for looking after all these fabulous guitars. I hope this stuff gets played again and not locked away as investments. I realise there’s a certain contradiction here but Norm has literally saved many of these instruments, they constitute a carefully curated collection not an investment portfolio.
The next time my partner says I have too many guitars, about 30, I'll show her this video 😂
Wow, just wow. I always am amazed at the collection you have gathered. Life's work indeed !
Man...thats better than going to the candy shop as a kid...WOW. Way to go Norm...preserved antiques ✌👍✅🎸💯
I could watch these warehouse vids over and over. Norm you are a legend. I can't believe the guitars in this video alone. Incredible.
Cool video!! Thanks for all the videos! I love seeing all the different guitars! My favorites are the red basses, the jaguars, and the coronet! So beautiful all of them.
Comme quoi, ne laisser jamais personne vous dire que vous avez trop de guitares…
Mon rêve, des guitares partout, juste de les voir me rend heureux !
Merci pour votre chaîne !
Bisous de France !
That's probably the sickest collection of guitars I've ever seen in one place. Incredible.
That 65 Jazz Bass fiesta red is F'n SICK!! 😮 For me the matching head stock makes it just hit different. I always dig matching head stocks on guitars and i don't play a lick I'm a drummer of 31 years.
I don't always love matching, or even Jazz Basses, but that Fiesta Red is freakin' 🔥 Would take in a heartbeat lol.
I am incredibly sad for Norm, you can see he doesn't want to let these go. But I am glad they are going back out into the world to make music again. A forgotten instrument in a warehouse or under a bed is just a pile of parts. The world is lucky to get them back. All the best to you Norm and thank you for taking care of them!!!
That is SICK Norm! Thank you for taking me to the Warehouse a couple of times!!..You rock!...CLEAN stuff.......
It’s like getting a sneak peek inside the Bat Cave or Fortress of Solitude. Unimaginable wonders. 🤩
Norm, we love you so much. It may not feel like it, but you've done such amazing things for the world.
As Norm mentions in the video, this is his "life's work". Several "haters" have commented about Norm "hoarding" vintage instruments without realizing that when Norm started in this business, there was no "vintage market". If people like Norm had not kept these fine American-made instruments here, they would have been brought overseas and taken apart by manufacturers in order to create better clones. Norm has decided that it is time for other people to enjoy these instruments. Someday, other collectors such as Jim, Joe, Rick, etc., will do so likewise as they are only temporary caretakers of these instruments.
.
P.S. My favourite is the ’58 Fender Precision Bass® with the maple fretboard.
Norm is so cool. This is an impressive collection worth more than an average American house.
Guitars are built to be played.
Sell before the market crashes.
That's where all the cool guitars are!! :)
"What is this, Norm?" "Wowww."
Norm, you've not only preserved instruments of rare value but also musical history. In a sense, you're truly an art collector. Anyone who has a sense of aesthetic value is in your debt.
That was awesome!!!! What a collection!
His face when they open one of the candy apple red strats, you could see the emotion hit him hard. Here’s to more happy years yet norm. 🙏🏻
It’s incredible to see this assortment- more will be revealed!
Holy Grail stuff here, thank you!
What an amazing and cool collection Norm!
😮 reee-diculous!! Thank you Norm for preserving these magical instruments for all of us! 👏❤🎸
Jen, you sound like the kid in the back seat of the car asking dad "are we there yet?"😁
Better to move each piece on at the right price than to dump the price post life. Fantastic life’s work Norm
Holy mackerel. I'm prayin' for ya Norm. Thank you for all you've done collecting, wise decisions.
Naked Norm came into the world, naked Norm will go out. In the meantime, very sweet guitars he has horded over the years - smart man.
Incredible history in the room and with Norm. Thankful he is sharing it with us all.
"what's this Norm?" Love it!! You've got all the hidden aces Norm. This is history preservation ..well done Sir.
I worked at Sotheby's new York , I'm semi retired as I'm 68 now but I still restore very old houses
Such a cool collection, hope you're fine Norm!
Just WOW!!! Thanks for this Norm!!
AMAZING!!! Norm!! You absolute legend of a collector… always knew what would be desirable in the future!!! You’re the man!!!! I wish I had you’re oversight!!!!
Norm; Just thinning out
Jen; what is this Norm?
Norm; i will keep these 😅🤣🤣🤣
Wow. Incredible!
This is the greatest episode of Hoarders - Buried Alive I've ever seen.
So surreal what a collection Norm!
That's some HOARD! Some of those P & J basses were absolutely mint.
Wow norm your collection is simply amazing!! 60's strats, 50's tele's! Old jags and mustangs and custom color fender jazz bass. Crazy!!! God bless ya norm you are an amazing and rare person!! Rock on!!
lotsa happy customers coming
Absolutely stunning array of instruments
😎👍
"What's is this, Norm?"
Holy Cow, Batman 😊
Norm's got more guitars than Carter has pills!
Jesus, that's a lot of guitars 🎸
It still amazes me how much of these Norm has in his secret stash!! 😮
He really must have known that those will be worth a lot back in the days...
My favorite kind of NRG's videos, I won't lie.
These warehouse videos should be called “What’s That Norm?”
If it wasn't for guys like Norm we probably wouldn't have these wonderful instruments to see what true craftsmanship was really like from a different era...these instrument's are very important for the history of the guitar...🎸🎸🎸
"What is that Norm?" Love it. Such great history!
Wow now’s a good time to go to Norms new goodies 👍🏻🎸❤️. Jen so proud of you keep prodding What year’s that ? 👍🏻🤪😜😋
WOW - JUST WOW!!!
Speechless
Its a celebration not wake! You're awesome Norm!
Feels like that scene in Gone in 60 seconds where they have a warehouse filled with classic cars....
This is like a dream Christmas Day, I’d love to spend a day in this warehouse with Norm
OMG. That’s like the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark…😂❤
It truly is a warehouse of dreams if your a guitar player. I mean, WOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! So cool!
Always love these trips to the warehouse! That Jazzmaster with factory gold hardware is to die for. That black Jag is amazing too! And of course that Equire…beautiful.
Norm keeping those white Fender Basses. they are barely yellowed. Insane finds.
What would be the harder drinking game? Drink every time you hear "what's this Norm?" or drink every time you hear "nah, keep it for the time being" 😅😂 love it, great video!
“What’s that one Norm?” Lol Give him a minute….
So amazed every time Norm gives us a peek at the warehouse stash.
All it takes is for him to have a quick look at the back and front and he KNOWS it. That level of expertise doesn't come easy
Love Norm and the rest of the team 🎸❤
Bitter sweet video... staff trying to keep it lively while Norm seems to deal with the torments of his own reality...
