I am from Oakland California. I know many Who did time there. They all came home and told Us Youngings the horrible truth about what goes on. Kept Me out of that place. I graduated in 84.
I’m from England and went to California in the late 90’s, we stayed at Newport Beach in LA. The hotel we were at had this giant hot tub and I was 17 at the time and my parents let my girlfriend come us so it was just us chilling in this hot tub. Then an older couple got in the hot tub too, so we started talking the usual chit chat like where we are from and what do we think of America etc. I noticed this guy had a lot of tattoos so I asked him about them. He was a Vietnam vet that done time in San Quentin during the late 70’s and early 80’s. So I asked him what San Quentin was like as even we had heard of it from movies and documentaries etc. He gave us this dead stare and said it was a killing field and this is coming from a Vietnam vet. You didn’t have to be good at reading people to realise I should ask no more. They were both a really nice couple but the eyes never lie and I could just tell this guy had seen some stuff.
I❤️❤️❤️❤️ watching old-school videos like this from the 80"s & 90"s workout routines & hearing the sound of that pure American iron & steel clanging & banging👍👍👍👍👍

@@donaldmack2307 lol that was pretty funny reply! I was born in 76 and I remember when my uncle went to prison and it looked just like this. But the two guys that you saw they had the long hair you said he was definitely captain of the handball squad. They were either Mexican or native American, because the native American families you are not supposed to cut your hair if you are the oldest male in the family until the oldest elder died. I know I'm native. And also I was going to talk about the running in the beginning my uncle said that if you were in the military a lot of them would get together and still do their runs and their training that they did while they were in the military
Back in the early 70s my grandfather used to take us to this prison where you'd pay to shoot beanbags from shotguns at convicts. The cost was $1 a convict for an hour, plus the shells which were about ten cents a piece. We'd rent 100 convicts and all six of us kids would just blast away at them in this yard. I know it paid well for them and as kids we'd laugh and laugh and reload... It's too bad there really isn't anything like this for kids these days. Thanks for the video of the mid 80s
