Very helpful man thanks alot!
Thanks you rock
Thanks! Needed a refresher!!
Your a good teacher.
Thank you so much!
Thank youuuuuuu! I watched a gazillion videos but yours was sweet and simple. I am redoing the flooring in my hideous bathroom with just me myself & I and it'd be easier to lay tile & paint with the toilet out of the way 🎉 Thanks for the info!
Thank you that warms my heart!
Fully drain the tank and bowl with a turkey baster or a sponge. They also make that stuff that turns the water into mush
Also, have an empty, open trash bag nearby to place the toilet on so you don’t get old wax and muck on the floor. Also, if you’re not reusing the toilet, you can dissemble the tank from the bowl, if it’s a two piece, to make it easier to move
This comment is why I don’t attend pot lucks
Subscribed. Will be doing this all summer in my theee bathrooms and you’ve made me feel confident in doing it myself ❤
Thank you, if you have any questions please let me know.
Thank you!
Thanks mate
where is the second video ?
Where's the full video?
Step 1 for me has mostly been turn off the water valve, realize its old and defective so now turn off the water at your main. Next go to the hardware store ans buy a new 1/4 turn compression valve. IF you don't have the proper tool continue for 30 mins trying to get the ferrule off the pipe with the nut behind ot, realize you should just cut it off or use a UA-cam trick of using a crescent wrench and hammer. Realize you have no room for that and say either fuck it and reuse the old nut and ferrule or use a recip saw to cut the whole thing out.
Step 2 realize your sawzall skills are ahit and you have a bunch of burrs on the pipe but continue anyways to reconnect.
Step 3 realize after install of new toilet you have a leak from the valve because you had burrs on the pipe.
Step 4 curse and blame everything around you..
Step 5 eventually get it done and afterward feel like you need to talk to a psychiatrist.. 😂😂😂...
All in all it is a Pain BUT invest in a 1/2. Ferrule puller on amazon and it'll make life easy. When it comes to planning and plumbing i just double me ETA on how long i think a job is gonna take.
I work take toilet out like uncle Cody and Coy
Mansfield Mohican toilet from 1981
I had to use a oscillating saw with a metal blade to cut a bolt off it was rusted so bad. It cut through in 30 seconds. In the past I’ve spend a long time trying to remove rusted bolts. The oscillating saw is perfect for this job. It’s also good for removing anything stuck to the ceramic floor. The toilet I just removed looks like it had 2-3 wax rings smashed down and oozed out all around the underside of the toilet. The saw removed it quickly.
What if it doesnt drain from the tank??
yo i want to replace my toilet and it does not have that valve so how do i drain the water (also can i just call a plumber instead of doing it myself will it be more expensive that way?)
You would need to find the main cutoff for the house and turn it off, once you have the water off I would add a value at the toilet pipe.
Plumber gonna cost ya i had one replace a sink fixture cost me $70
@@callieduval3000 and that is a cheap price.🤔
Step five suck the water out of the bowl with a Shop-Vac.
Thank you, I just use a sponge but I really like your idea! 👍
Plunger and push it thru into the plumbing is how I usually go about it, shop vac would work for remaining water in the tank tho!
What Mario does
Why is it black on the inside of the tank
It’s a really old toilet and has been in since the 70s and I think some of the darkness is actually from some of those toilet bowl cleaners that people add to the back to keep the toilet fresh.
You’re welcome!
No gloves is what killing me rn
HAHAHA... Nope, I have soap and water. 🙄
That's what men do what we couldn't do yucky things it doesn't bother them
Gloves...lol. I love the glove ppl
Why not get a proper plumber to do it
No need to just change a toilet... 😶
@Rob.Ingram you didn't vacuum the water out if you done that in Europe you would have flooded the bathroom, even your fellow us plumbers have the courtesy to drain the toilet
@@patrickoreilly3166 , when I flushed almost all the water was out but I did drain the rest of the water but just used a sponge. That part was not added because of the timeframe for the UA-cam Short. But great point.
Cuz i am a prisoner planning a sewer escape
I didn’t want to spend $500 for what I could do for free.
