Martin Riggs is one of the most realistic interpretations of grief put to screen. It really is this dangerous when you've lost a loved one, and can't deal with it.
First day on the job, and, after a wild shootout, where the bad guy is fatally wounded, he falls into the Swimming Pool, and gets caught up in the Pool Cover. Riggs and Murtaugh dive in after the guy...but discover that he's already dead. Afterwards, as they swim to the edge of the Swimming Pool, and rest there, catching their breath, before they climb out of the Pool, Murtaugh looks at Riggs, and asks him:"Is there anybody you've ever met, that you didn't kill"? Riggs looks at Murtaugh, and says:"Well, I haven't killed you yet"! I love that verbiage between these two! Later, Murtaugh ended up "eating crow", when he thinks about how Riggs had saved his life.....and thanks Riggs for doing that for him.....only for Riggs to look at him, and tell him:"I'll bet that hurt to say that", to which Murtaugh replies:"More than you'll ever know". And THAT is the start of a great friendship! One that's still going strong to this day!
@@jorgegaytan3012 he was dangerous because he wasn't afraid of dying, he went all out in front of the most dangerous criminals in this movie without being guarded or hesitant, the types of feelings most people get when facing danger which risks them slipping up

I grew up watching this movie as a kid and just watched it again recently and it's still a blast. Why does the time fly when watching these old movies yet 90% of movies today have me staring at the clock a half hour in?

But nowadays, big productions target the international markets: India, Russia, and China... So they look pretty and flashy, but the content is shallow: A sugary dessert without nutritional value. Die hard with a vengeance, the one with Samuel L Jackson, was originally written as a Lethal Weapon movie, in fact a lot of die hard sequels were originally something else rewritten into a die hard movie, and Samuel L Jackson played a character similar to Murtaugh twice, in Loaded Weapon 1, and in that Die Hard movie

Love this movie for the longest time and still magical. Almost impossible to get tired of it. Every Christmas I watch it but all year round too. I like it better than Die Hard
Same as a kid who didn’t know any better I liked die hard a lot and I still do but now as an adult I’m starting to like it more than die hard mainly because I relate to Riggs like a tiny bit more though my problems aren’t as bad as his but trying to make the best of it
Can't believe people watch stuff like "Elf" every Christmas when we have great choices like this or Die Hard. A new one for my christmas list is "Violent Night".
I love this scene with Mel Gibson when he was counting money and he said " Shut up, man, I'm losing count. I love the Christmas Tree lot scene so much and he imitated Moe, Larry, and Curly from the Three Stooges.
Riggs's Beretta 92F is a beautiful gun. 9mm 15+1 round capacity, dual/ambi safeties/decocking levers, loaded chamber indicator , drop safety and firing pin block, all aluminum, open breach design to ensure stabilities of rounds cycling up the feed ramp and no jamming/misfires. Works every time. Riggs and John McClane made the Beretta the badass gun of the best 80's action flicks. Die Hard and Lethal weapon are two of my favorite movies and two of the greatest action flims ever made. They just don't make movies this awesome anymore. Even Cobra with Stallone and the lovely Brigitte Nielsen for as cheesy as it was is an awesome action film, the modeling shots of Brigitte and the robots juxtaposed with Stallone and his partner hitting the streets and busting heads is brilliant. Not to mention one of the best one liners ever, "I'm gonna blow this place to kingdom come!" "Go ahead, I don't shop here!" Also, "We are the way of the new world man!" "No you're just a disease and I'm the cure!" So badass.

Love this movie for the longest time and still magical. Almost impossible to get tired of it. Every Christmas I watch it but all year round too. I like it better than Die Hard
Same as a kid who didn’t know any better I liked die hard a lot and I still do but now as an adult I’m starting to like it more than die hard mainly because I relate to Riggs like a tiny bit more though my problems aren’t as bad as his but trying to make the best of it
Which is more magical: this or Eragon?
Can't believe people watch stuff like "Elf" every Christmas when we have great choices like this or Die Hard. A new one for my christmas list is "Violent Night".
When his counting reach the nineties, he slips to an Aussie accent.
Well Mel Did Spend Half his life in Australia I can see how that could happen
@@mr.classic6823 Yeah he was actually born in New York and lived here until he was 12. But still young enough to take on his Australian accent.
I swear he has an Australian accent half the movie coming in and out
I love older action films like cobra first blood sniper lethal weapon tango cash demolation man rocky im old school all the way
You like those films, but you don't like comas
+John Smith I don't think anyone likes comas.
Don't forget Get To Da Choppa!
In situations like this, trying to hold a suicidal guy at gunpoint is suicidal.
I actually have never seen a better and more believable "I'm a maniac with nothing to lose" performance than this.
And to this day Mel still looks good in his jeans.
I agree
Luv this scene riggs spinning on the dirt is straight🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love this scene with Mel Gibson when he was counting money and he said " Shut up, man, I'm losing count. I love the Christmas Tree lot scene so much and he imitated Moe, Larry, and Curly from the Three Stooges.
Ah the 80s. What a time to be young in the U.S. Some of the best action movies ever came out then.
I was in my 20s during the 80s....
It was an awesome decade....
Mel would’ve been a great casting as Wolverine in 1987!
Mel is great. Loved him as Riggs
2:18 She was a big help.
0:29 when I'm paying food in a fancy restaurant with pennys
0:37 when the waiter said its not enough
Mel is the GOAT of detectives/cops of actors to portray the law enforcement characters
You wanna see crazy? ( start smacking his head ) poke, smack, smack🤣
I remember when Mel Gibson was on the Simpsons, he enacted the "crazy" gesture at 1:26. I had a great fit of joy seeing that
97 people didn't get a chance to buy a tree.
The guy he headbutts Anthony Kiedis's father. True fact.
Anthony Kiedis's Dad Blackie in the red plaid shirt. 🙂
Not to mention one of the best one liners ever, "I'm gonna blow this place to kingdom come!" "Go ahead, I don't shop here!" Also, "We are the way of the new world man!" "No you're just a disease and I'm the cure!" So badass.
put. the bunny. back. in da box.
(I'm sure, you have this one if you are a fan of old action movies)
"What's that, Cyrus?"
"That's a rock."
Conair is a classic slice of Pizzahut action cheese.
2:07 the way he hands over the gun 😂
His mannerisms from 2:37-2:50 are the best. Plus the look on the crooks face
"It ain't worth it man."
That's right!
You can tell by that phrase alone that the cop has had the same kind of situations with Riggs before
I just love Mel's "wide-eyed" look when he gets mad/upset. He has BEAUTIFUL eyes. He is so damn good looking! Of all the Lethal Weapons.....this one is my favorite. 🤗
I'm too old for this...
This is still one of my favorite character set-ups.
I love the Lethal Weapon movies
The guy in the black and red checkered shirt is the father of the lead singer of red hot chilli peppers.
Not sure if this is acting. I think a film crew was just following Mel Gibson around
This should be the top comment.
When he rolls on the ground and shoots....oh man totally badass!!😄
i just had a luagh to myself. its my brothers birthday. he watches this lethal weapon alot. he said i am mel gibson. with such conviction. happy birthday GOGO
Anthony Kiedis' dad in the red flannel
I understand how it feels to be that crazy. I know it’s being portrayed in a movie, but Mel Gibson does it well because he understands how to play it like that. Very good and cool to see.
Blackie Dammett, the actor in red fighting Riggs is Anthony Kiedis (singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers)‘s Dad.
Mel Gibson was amazing in the Lethal Weapons movies 🔥
There’s the good cop and the bad cop
…And then there’s the crazy cop
1:27 the sound he makes when he slaps the middle guy :') mimimimimi! And the extra slap on the forehead...
Good observation- on Mr. Rigg's, part. Seeing the guy looking up to the truck. Then. Then turning around seeing the guy with the shotgun.
Blackie Dammit.............Thanks for RHCP.
" you wanna see your f...... face in the clouds, yea ..yeeaah" lmbo
